In the past 5 years, for various reasons, I have seen at least 5 podiatrists. Dr. Polun, was honestly the only one that I felt REALLY listened and tried to understand and took a lot of time to do so. Excellent first visit!

I came in with a challenging case of Mortons neuroma. After the standard treatment of alcohol injections (covered by insurance), Dr. Polun suggested laser therapy (not covered by insurance but not outrageously expensive either). As a lifelong athlete and runner, the neuroma had really been bothering me so I decided it was worth it. After the most uninvasive treatment of laser therapy, my neuroma pain is 98% gone. It was totally worth it.

Quick update to my original review. My mother fell and hurt her foot the day before Christmas. Was able to talk to Dr. Polun even though the office was closed, and figured out that we didnt need to go to the emergency room and that he will make space for her next business day.Just a quick review. Dr. Polun is an amazing doctor with a very human touch. As a diabetic foot care is important. I found a problem with my foot after his office had closed for the day: he returned my call, did a virtual visit, prescribed medication, and walked me through self care. Would highly, highly recommend him and his practice.

My experience with Dr Polun and the staff at National Foot and Ankle has exceeded all of my expectations. Ive spent 10-15 years with painful, deformed toes. I cant believe how quickly Dr. Polun turned my situation around. The correction required surgery, which was 100% painless with the use of local anesthesia. The office runs like clockwork, no wait that you typically expect from the doctor office. The visits were quick and to the point and the surgeries lasted only a few minutes. The doctor and staff were surprisingly friendly and helpful. They provided necessary prescriptions directly to me during my visit, eliminating the need to wait at the pharmacy. On the one occasion in which my medication was not in stock, they had it mailed to me; it arrived in a box at my doorstep within 24 hours. I would have never put off treatment had I known it would be this quick, painless and easy! 100% positive experience.

Dr Polun is 1 in a million! The best! He is expert, professional, proactive, caring, responsive and really, really good at what he does. He gave me workable options for both. His staff handled everything professionally and proactively. My surgery went great & recovery has been speedy. Since having frostbite years ago, I am prone to fungus on my toes and toe nails. Dr. Polin keeps things under control. He has treated every member of our family except our cats -- including my daughter-in-laws 100 year-old grandfather (who comes in from Baltimore to see Dr. Polin).

Its a shame that, before medical graduates finish their training and launch into their careers, they dont all have a chance to watch a video of Frank Polun interacting with one or more patients. He has as much to teach them as any of their professors. I am not a doctor, and am unqualified to judge whether Frank is more or less knowledgeable and skilled than any other foot doctor in diagnosing and treating foot issues. But having spent a long career as a lawyer and then a financial advisor, with hundreds of doctors as clients, I am qualified to say that Frank is a rare gem: a doctor who quickly lets you know that he is sincerely interested in you as a human being, who will take the time to learn and understand your issue(s) with your foot/feet, and who will make sure that you understand what he is recommending and why. When you are sitting with Frank in the examining room, you know for sure that he is 100% there with you, and isnt worrying about how soon he can move on to his next patient. My wife, a career R.N., accompanied me on our first visit and was as impressed as I was. We do not mind the four-hour drive down to Potomac from our New Jersey home to enjoy the services of a doctor at this A+ level.

Dr. Polun is simply the best there is. I was in a motorcycle accident on a Sunday afternoon that ended up crushing my foot with multiple broken bones and lacerations. By the time that I was admitted to the ER it was well into the evening. The ER nurse reached Dr. Polun by phone, who left dinner with his family to come and attend to me. He could have very easily left it until the morning but he took his personal time to come and attend to me. Upon meeting Dr. Polun it quickly became evident that I was in good hands. He was able to quickly assess the situation and determine the best course of action. Dr. Polun stayed late the next day in order to sneak in my surgery and relieve me of my pain. I am now well into my recovery and I can say for sure that I would choose Dr. Polun again and again and again for my Surgeon and Dr.. What I like best about him is that he is very direct and deliberate with everything that he does. he doesnt dance around a subject, if you ask him a question he gives you very clear distinct answers. Basically he rips off the band-aide and gets it over with. Dr. Polun is simply the best that there is in the business!

Dr. Polun is a terrific doctor, warm and caring. He immediately diagnosed my problem and suggested a Bunionectamy, explaining carefully what it involved, he educates the patient so I knew what to expect and why. He keeps current with the latest methods which he explains, and which help quicker recovery and healing. I had a small window of opportunity in which to have this operation, and he worked with me to make sure it happened within the time frame I had. He shows genuine care for my recovery. After the operation, he called me on a Sunday to see how I was doing.I mentioned my sister was having the same operation in North Carolina in a couple of weeks, and he immediately asked me to send him the name of the doctor and said he would call him and talk to him about his (Dr. Poluns) protocol. Within an hour of me sending him this information, he emailed me to say he had been in touch with the doctor and was working on getting the product, which aids in fast recovery/healing, to him. As always great patient service from the begining(front desk) to the end(front desk again), Dr Engorn listen to my request and went thru all the possible diagnostic to pinpoint my problem.Really professional and friendly.I will recommend him to anyone looking for a good foot doctor!

If you want to get milked for visits then go here. Insurance did not cover anything! I told doctor up front I did not have extra money for cost that Insurance would not cover.... thousands of dollars later. Not a happy patient!! He also prescribed a antibiotic that was marked in my chart that I was allergic to after having surgery, then told me it was not that important that I should just keep area clean (which I did) and ended up with not just one infection in my foot... but two, and incision split open! Everyone should know you need an antibiotic after surgery to help heal! I referred him patients and they were not happy either, all of them felt like he was just trying to milk them for visits to make money.

This guy is simply the best. Dont let his suave demeanor and cool Panerai deceive you, he is a world-class expert on this stuff and fixed my ripped up ankle.

It’s with my deepest appreciation that I write of my experience with Dr. Polun. I had recently undergone a major foot reconstruction performed by another physician. First visit, I felt I did not get enough instruction as to how to use the night brace.Second visit, I got further instruction on use of the night brace and received a cortisone shot. Returning in two weeks for reevaluation.

In googling best foot doctors in the area I found Dr. Pulon. I had chronic plantar fasciitis. I also tore my plantar fascia. Now 3 weeks our of surgery I am starting to feel relief and am able to finally walk without pain. Dr. Polun performed an endoscopic plantar fasciectomy and injected stem cells to regrow the tissue. Dr. Pulon has been attentive and made me feel like I am his top priority. I feel like I am finally on the road to enjoying activities again.

Bottom line: Dr. Polun provides extraordinary medical service, and is an extremely personable doctor every step of the way.I originally saw Dr. Polun for an pretty severe ankle injury. I had rolled my ankle over badly, resulting a fully torn ligament, another badly stretched and partially torn ligament, as well as a small bone chip/fracture. The pain from the injury was bad enough that it really limited my ability to maintain my athletic activities (running, basketball, weightlifting), and resulted in chronic instability of my left ankle.Dr. Polun examined and quickly had me receive tests on my ankle to determine the exact problem. The findings showed the above mentioned ailments, and Dr. Polun operated on my ankle shortly thereafter. He successfully reattached/reconstructed the two ankle ligaments, and cleaned out the chip and other debris in my ankle joint. Following the surgery, he had me on a detailed timeline (cast to walking boot to light brace) that got me back up to speed quickly. Im happy to report that I am now running, playing sports, and lifting weights pain free, and stress free.I now view my left ankle (the originally injured ankle) as my strong ankle. Dr. Polun was always super easy to reach, and always put the patient first. I was extremely impressed with his bedside manner, and his genuine care for my recovery. In addition to my interactions with Dr. Polun, his staff was also top-notch. They were very knowledgeable and always extremely friendly.While, I hope I never have to receive foot/ankle treatment again, I know that if I do, I will undoubtedly reach out to Dr. Polun. I highly recommend him, and suggest that if you have a foot or ankle injury, to make an appointment with Dr. Polun. He will make sure you get back to 100% as quickly as possible.

I have never felt as well cared for as I do with Dr. Polun and his wonderful staff. I was in constant pain for 6+ months. Dr. Polun re-attached four ligaments, including two in my Achilles. I still have a ways to go, but am feeling better than I have in a long time. Im giving 5 stars but would give 6 if it were an option. In my mind, they are really that good. I suggested to a neighbor/friend last night that she see Dr. Polun, and I recommend him with utmost enthusiasm to anyone whose damnfoothurts.

Dr. Polan is amazing. After my Mothers podiatrist was unable to help her with the corns in between her toes (for almost a year and a half), Dr. Polan performed a procedure that allowed her, not only to be able to walk again without limping, but to be rid of the corns for good. Prior to seeing Dr. Polun, I was suffering from ankle plan for nearly two years which eventually led me to see ortho who misdiagnosed my injury and prescribed 12 weeks of NWB which yielded no results. I immediately researched area doctors which landed me with Dr. Polun. Within 5 minutes of my initial visit, Dr. Polun had accurately determined my true injury along with its cause. He went out of his way to alleviate my concerns and even went so far as to squeeze me in for surgery so that I could be mobile for my upcoming wedding. From the wonderful,caring, and accommodating staff to Dr. Poluns wonderful bedside manner: everything about Dr. Poluns office is a reminder of how medicine should be practiced. Im now two months from my surgery with zero pain and, more importantly, faith renewed in the care a doctor can provide when the right one is found.

I developed a really sore ankle tendonitis when I started playing tennis. I got so sore that I could barely walk down stairs much less work out or play tennis. I made an appointment with Dr. Polun and he wasted no time finding just the right treatment for me. He fitted me with a temporary ankle support while a custom cast support was created for me. He also prescribed a great topical treatment which was very effective. Within a week I was on the mend and back to full time tennis and cardio workouts. I was really pleased with Dr. Polun and he really understood my desire to be active which was great because a lot of other doctors dont take that much interest in their patients needs.

Dr. Polun is THE BEST! After seeing three other doctors (an orthopedist and two other podiatrists) Dr. Polun accurately diagnosed my condition (catching things they all missed!) and was the first to recommend and perform a treatment that actually WORKED! Before I saw Dr. Polun I was in so much pain I could barely walk a block down the street, and as an athlete, that was incredibly frustrating. Now, Im getting back to running, hiking, biking and doing all the things I love. If you want a doctor that truly cares about his patients, has a great bedside manner, and will prescribe treatments that WORK to relieve your problem and get you back on the field, then Dr. Polun is who you need to see.

Dr. Polun is AWESOME. I came to see Dr. Polun for a second opinion regarding a fracture in my foot that was not healing. His reccomendations made sense and seemed to be spot-on. He also discovered a vitamin deficiency that no one else had even bothered to check. I would have never healed with my levels so low!Dr. Polun takes time with his patients and his staff is very friendly and kind.
