We love Tiger Academy! The instructors are great with Childrens. They are fun, encouraging and patient. My 4 year old has been attending for more the 30 days now and loves it. He wakes up every morning asking if it’s karate day. They really teach with positive and life long values at the core and dedicate themselves to the success and growth of each child.

I have only attended 2 different martial art schools but I can say this is a great martial art school. They will work you hard and help you improve yourself physically and mentally. They are very critical and down to earth which is very important to teach anything effectively. I intend to attend every class I can until I leave for college. If you are thinking of signing up go there they will give you a two week trial for around 50$ and you can see for yourself and the longer you do it the more fun it gets.

I highly recommend Tiger Martial Arts Academy!!! Its great for adults and kids alike. The instructors are amazing and always encouraging. The studio is always clean and they do take temps, wear masks, and practice social distancing. I absolutely love their Muay Thai classes. Its very fun, good exercise, and helped me learn about self-defense techniques.

My wondertwins just had a belt testing and earned their green belts. This means their class days and times will change and I had four staff members approach me separately to make sure I knew that and to make certain it would not cause problems or conflicts for the family. Their genuine concern always comes shining through and their high standards always help my children to grow stronger physically, mentally, and socially. Continue to be blessed by the fine folks at Tiger.

Tiger Martial Arts is a positive and motivating place for our youth and adults. I have observed an increase of self-confidence and esteem in my 10 year old son. Awesome!!!

My daughter really enjoys her karate class! Mr. Hunter is a wonderful instructor ( the staff is awesome). He teaches discipline, teamwork, shelf confidence, and etc. I have seen improvement in my daughter. Her behavior has improved in school. She take time to listen and follow directions. She’s calm and shows maturity. I highly recommend this marital arts school!

Went in today for the first time. Upon entering the facility, they also check your temp. They do practice social distancing in the studio with the students. And adults can observe from the upper room with monitors and a wide open window to look down at the child. Although they only allow one parent post student, they give you access to a zoom to watch the children from your vehicle.

My daughter has been taking classes for almost a year and we both love it here. The instructors are all super patient with the students and very knowledgeable of their craft. They take the time to explain moves that may be challenging to students. My daughter’s behavior and self discipline in school are improving and her confidence continues to grow. TMA stresses the importance of good character on and off of the mat. From the front desk to the mat, everyone that works at Tiger Martial Arts in Portsmouth is helpful, pleasant, and always willing to help. It’s a great family oriented business.

One of the best schools I have seen so far. Awesome environment and instructors. Very polite people and very tough training. No ceremonial activities like in some schools, just straight to the point. They will take the time to teach you right from the very beginning. So if you are not afraid of good training, I totally recommend this academy. Worth the money in deed.

Probably the Number 1 thing I miss about Virginia.My family trained at Tiger for years...it’s not just a great training facility, it’s a family. They take a genuine and personal interest in each and every student, they care deeply about kids’ physical and educational well-being and accomplishments, they offer a caring, structured environment, and they build confidence and self-esteem.You get all this, friendships that will last a lifetime AND world class martial arts training. Unique and amazing place to train.

I cannot speak to the quality of the competitive martial arts training, as I have no background in it and my child is only 4 and just starting. Over the last few months I have witnessed a depth of character and class in these instructors that is hard to quantify. Mr. Wyatt, Mr. Freeman, and Mr. Sheppard are the 3 I observe most often. They display incredible patience and motivation perfectly delivered to the ages they are teaching. These are outstanding men and servants to their community. This place is very blessed to have such an outstanding staff that clearly embodies their ethos.

I can’t say enough good things about tiger martial arts and it’s staff. The facility is top notch and always clean. There is plenty of room on the man during classes so you won’t feel like your stepping on the person next to you. The staff if very friendly and professional. They always go the extra mile to make sure you are understanding what’s being taught and can execute the techniques safely. They also have programs for all ages which is a big plus for family’s. I trained at the Portsmouth Blvd location for years..Love the atmosphere and staff...if you are looking for a good workout you will not be disappointed!! The staff is very knowledgeable in their craft and offer a variety of classes for every skill level.

I highly recommend Tiger Academy of Martial Arts without any reservation! My eleven year old son has trained there for 2.5 years. He thoroughly enjoys the atmosphere. He has learned respect and self-discipline at a whole new level in class, and he enjoys training out of class.I was so inspired by observing his growth and development in the youth Karate program, that I decided to enroll in the Muay Thai Fitness program. My original goal was to lose weight, and to get in shape, but I have exceeded those expectations. I am also gaining self-confidence as I learn to have fun training in an environment where the instructors care about the individual students and often will differentiate instruction and remediate as necessary. This is very important to me as I am in my early forties and am constantly combating the effects of old age!! Dont take my word for it, come join and experience the Tiger family for yourself!!!

I was verbally attacked by the owner because Im not a christian and was later verbally attacked for not having the proper look on my face and mood when I came in to train. I was constantly given dirty looks by a staff member. The owner is very nosey and judgemental. Wouldnt recommend this place if you have alternative values or if you just happened to have a bad day and want to train to let off steam. Too many hoops for the price. Def not worth the disrespect.

GREAT atmosphere and you learn alot. I recommend for both child and adult classes. The teachers are very knowledgeable and have a zeal to teach.
