The staff was very professional and accommodating. I was looking for a location that could do a state inspection on a Mercedes Sprinter. They were able to accommodate me last minutes and were very friendly and very professional. They were finished before I completed my lunch. I look forward to working with this company again in the future.

I got an appointment the same day I called and the service was fantastic. Every employee had a hand in taking care of my car. I was given all the details of the issues on my exhaust and the different options I had to repair them. The repair went well and I left the shop happy and the bill was under $90...my car is quiet again!

The guys at Portsmouth Meineke were fantastic! I brought a car in for a pre-purchase inspection (for my teenage daughter), and Chris was absolutely meticulous in his inspection. He lead me through every possible concern with the vehicle, physically showed me the issues under the car (respectfully explaining stuff I didnt understand), and gave me an honest opinion on its worth. Shawn priced out some parts and service for me, quickly and honestly, and I was able to get the dealership to agree to do some work on it prior to purchase. Its not very common that Ive been able to say I 100% trust my mechanic, but Ill never bring any of our cars anywhere else. These guys are great. Chatted Star Wars and movies with the guy at the desk for the 45 minutes it took them to install my exhaust. Exhaust sounds and looks fantastic. One of the guys noticed some damage to the new exhaust, which he said was no problem for him to fix, but brought me in and recommended I take some pictures of the damage to show the store where I bought it to get a bit of a discount. 45 Minutes of labor to install, and that guy got me a $120 credit for the store I purchased from.They couldve easily not shown me that and moved on with their day, but they went the extra mile which is very appreciated. Thanks to stellar service at Portsmouth Meineke on 2200 Lafayette Road by Service Manager, Sean Kirkpatrick, my family was able to be notified of a class action call back oil consumption issue on our 2014 Subaru Forester after we noticed that we were losing oil yet had no leaks. After Sean brought the class action decision regarding motors in our year and model to our attention, We had the car tested by the Subaru dealer and sure enough found out that a new short block had to be provided according to the results. Once this repair was complete and we were driving away from the Dealer we noticed a vibration noise. We brought it back and the dealer stated that it was heat shield related and quoted a fix it price of over 1k$ that would not be covered. We were very suspicious of this result and alarmed.I asked Sean to put it up on his lift and examine it. It was just an easily seen missing bolt on the exhaust flange just behind the area that was part of the dealers repair. The dealer had neglected to put it on the lift and assumed as well as quoted a false diagnosis and costly unneeded repair. The repair at Meineke was a reasonable cost and quick. The Subaru dealer has misconduct to answer for.Sean Kirkpatrick and his technician, Tom Shaw provide service and honesty that made us very happy and will keep us bringing our business and recommendations to Portsmouth Meineke. Kudos also should go out to Manager Matt for having such a great crew.Thank you Sean, Matt and Tom.

I’ve been a customer for years and have received various services for my current and previous vehicle.Sean and the crew are incredibly personable, professional and honest. If something needs to be fixed, they tell you what is wrong, explain how it affects your vehicle’s functionality, how serious it is and what options you have for fixing the problem.Any and all questions are received and answered professionally, no matter how simple/obvious they may be (I’m quite the novice when it comes to car knowledge). Called on a Saturday morning for oil change and rotation. Fit me in. Wonderful. Matt was extremely helpful and gave me all my options for oil AND explained why I might want each one or not.Sitting in the bright sunny waiting room, I heard and saw how great his customer service really was. Multitasking with phone calls and customers in person...even if he was busy, he made eye contact or acknowledged them in some way to let them know he saw them. Upbeat, informative, not pushing one way or the other but allowing the customer to have all the information to make their decision. When virtually every customer who came in was on a first name basis, I knew I was lucky to get into Meineke that morning. As a service industry and healthcare worker, I really appreciated how patient, professional and honest he was. It means a lot to the customer. If I had a twin, they’d get four thumbs up.

I went to Meineke to have a simple exhaust rattle fixed, and they did a great job. The mechanics were capable, friendly, and honest. They even took the time to show me the source of the problem and gave me some options for repairs. I ended up only paying $10. MUCH better than the guys at VIP across the street!! Highly recommended! Ill definitely be coming back here in the future. :)

There’s a guy who works at the front desk, I think he’s a technician too, who’s probably the most pleasant person I’ve ever encountered at a car service place, seriously just so nice. I’m deducting a star though because even though they have a sign saying mask required, a customer entered not wearing a mask, and nothing was said to the customer. There is a mask mandate in NH, and we’re still in the middle of a global pandemic. There is no excuse for businesses to not be enforcing this as this point.

As a woman Ive had some pretty bad experiences with mechanics in the past. Ive come to know Matt, the owner, personally over the past few years as he frequents my place of business. But our professional relationship began when he noticed an issue with my vehicle and kindly took time out of his day to not only pick up my vehicle from my workplace, leave me a loaner vehicle to get to his shop and provide both parts and repair free of charge simply because he cares about others. I have been a loyal customer since! I trust Matt, his manager Sean and their mechanics, specifically Chris & Justin implicitly! Ive had some major repairs during inspections to my older vehicle the last couple of years but they are hyper sensitive about my stress regarding costs. They have done everything possible to work within my budget, offer the lowest possible costs, apply discounts all while keeping my vehicle and myself safe on the road! Theyre incredible people who treat you like family, work hard to keep you informed along the way and actually encourage people to be knowledgeable about car repair. As a woman that alone is invaluable to me! Supporting local business is paramount in our current climate. As I was traveling through Portsmith New Hampshire I stopped and noticed that there was a large quality quantity of fluid which I thought was antifreeze coming out from my engine. I pulled in to the Meinicke shop and the Technician who diagnosed the problem which turned out to be nothing of great importance and sent me on my way.

As always, I was treated respectfully and professionally. I was thoroughly informed about my cars issues. I felt I was given a fair price and the work was completed in a timely manner. I’ll continue using this shop as does my school and several friends. I have trust in their judgment and mechanical abilities

The gentleman discussed costs with me and even offered to look for coupons to apply to make the repairs more affordable. My car was repaired promptly. Really professional and quick service. I had engine trouble on my way to work on Friday. Meineke was the only place locally that would take the car on short notice for diagnostics the next day. I gave a heads up to the person who scheduled the appointment as well as the mechanic in charge (Matt) that the car shows a low catalytic converter inefficiency code for the first of my two cats because it is aftermarket. I asked them to please disregard this code and proceed with engine diagnostics as I had experienced several misfires (only on steep hills along the mountainside where I live, which I knew they wouldn’t be able to replicate in Portsmouth, NH) and a loss of power from the engine (on the highway).Matt called Saturday and claimed the misfire code I had read Friday afternoon had vanished by when their work began. He first said he couldn’t proceed with engine diagnostics without the code, then later said they inspected the engine and it looked fine. He was fixated on doing diagnostics on the converters. I said I’d allow the testing he recommended (he said he would check the heat on each converter because if they can’t exhaust properly they’ll get much hotter than usual) to rule in or rule out a cat issue and finally get down to business. He called back and said that both cats needed replacing. This seemed odd with the aftermarket one only being 2 years old. I asked what the results of the test were and he shouted to a worker in the shop who actually did the testing. It turned out both cats were the same temp, and within normal range. When I asked why they needed replacing he claimed my oxygen sensors were showing a “complete flat-line” as if no oxygen was being exhausted from the ‘clogged’ converters at all. I expressed confusion as to how the converters would then being staying normal temp if they couldn’t exhaust anything. He had no answer and became frustrated, talking about his 7 years experience running a shop.I wasn’t in any way disrespectful and even told him I’d be willing to replace the cats if there was any way to make sense of the diagnostics that weren’t adding up. He then offered to replace the oxygen sensors in case they were faulty, but, having had them done before, I knew they throw their own code when malfunctioning. When I asked if that was correct, Matt just muttered “sometimes” and got more frustrated. He claimed they had already put four hours of diagnostics into the car and, despite driving it all around, couldn’t replicate any engine issues I described. I opted to pick up the car for a second opinion and Matt said “I hope you find someone who will tell you what you want to hear”. Again, I explained that I really appreciated their efforts, especially on short notice, and that, in fact, I’d much rather replace converters than an engine, since that’s a much cheaper fix, but that I didn’t want to replace two converters (one being nearly new) based on inconclusive diagnostics, just to have my engine fail (it has over 210K miles on it).When I picked the car up, the description on the receipt/paperwork contradicted what Matt had said over the phone. A loss of power from the engine was noted on the test drive, and the oxygen sensors which he told me flat-lined did not. They had shown readable response. Additionally, even though it is possible to read check engine codes/code history without clearing them, all codes and history had been cleared from the car’s computer. Given the rest of the dishonesty, I can’t help suspecting that the history got cleared so that the engine misfire code I was concerned about wouldn’t be detectable.I ended up having the car towed from my place of work to a different mechanic who properly diagnosed the issue in less than three hours, and even did testing to verify the function of the cats and oxygen sensors just in case.Please do not waste your time or money having Meineke in Portsmouth do diagnostic work on your vehicle, even if you are in a bind like I was. This place suffers from a serious lack of mechanical knowledge, customer service skills, and business ethics/integrity.

Had new struts and shocks installed. Prompt work, fair price. Sean at the front desk was great, found good deals on both sets and a coupon as well. Recommend them highly.

I’ve been working with Meineke on route one in Portsmouth for quite a while now and it’s an experience that I haven’t had with any car care service company ever! They are very attentive they call when they say and they don’t make a move unless they check with you first! And they most of all are always willing to work with you when that final bill comes if at all possible! Management and Omer team have the system down pat!I recommend that specific Meineke to anyone if they want to get guaranteed great service! And I would ask for Matt or Sean!

I called ahead to ask if they had time to fit me in that day and they said yes so I dropped my truck off to them at 1pm and they had it for 5 hours and only changed the oil. Told me I had a million things wrong and they’d have it done by the next afternoon. I went and got my truck and will not be going back

Have taken a couple of my vehicles here over the years for oil changes, tire rotations, inspections, etc. and the service has been consistently great. Their advice on what to fix and when to fix it is much appreciated. I feel comfortable using them as my maintenance shop and will continue using them for future requests.

Impressed with the shop the moment we entered. Store was clean. Matt was welcoming and accommodating. He had his mechanic, Justin, take the car out for a ride so that he could identify the noise seemingly coming from the front tires. When Justin returned and had the car up on the rack, he invited my husband to see what the problem was. He informed us of the cost and approximate time to fix it. The tie rod and bearing was fixed and viola the noise is gone. We were impressed with the integrity, honesty and professionalism of every mechanic we encountered while we were there.Matt apparently has a knack for employing the right people. We felt the cost of the repair was very fair and that there were no hidden encounters which would cost us more money. These guys were great. I had a seized brake and they were able to squeeze me in on short notice. If you have a bigger job try to make an appointment but if your without a car and it’s something simple they will do everything they can to help you out. I will definitely be using them from now on in the rye area.

Their recent help with my 2008 Runner not only saved me $, but most likely kept our family safe. While determining if the SUV needed new brake lines, etc. they called, told me the bad news about the poor condition of the overall frame, and then showed me the major problems while the car was up on the lift. Pulled over to our house, I called Meineke right at closing time...they said bring it on in and stayed almost and hour late to get my mom’s car fixed.- more recently had car trouble on Ocean Blvd...called Meineke. Matt, the owner, came out to check on the car and got it running. Granted it was a slow day for them...but seriously who does that??- lastly they always do the right thing: Provide the service/repairs that we only need...keeps us updated through the process.In sum - these guys are about long term relationships and run a very solid business.

Dont settle for this place, theyll try to talk you into overhauling parts of your car that dont need it with the caveat of how much do you love your car. Get a 2nd opinion, and save yourself the time and expense (and damage).

I never thought I could be more excited to write a review, but after I left this place I honestly made it a priority! First time ever going there I just simply needed a brake job. Ended up working with Matt and he was a super down to earth guy, great conversation, cool staff! He then proceeded to not only do a brake change, but he found a problem in my brake line, showed and thoroughly explained it to me on request (which was very professional) and now my car is running better and more responsive than it ever has. As a car enthusiast that I am, I knew Matt and the crew there took pride in their work and knowledge. I will never go anywhere else again! Highly recommend.

I have been going over there for the past few years now, I can tell you as a black man I have been being treated with respect just like any other white customer. The owner takes his leadership very seriously to make sure his business stands out of the crowd. He treats every customer the same way as he would treat a member of his own family by offering financial advice and guidance during difficult time when the customer needs it most. No wonder why he has so many customers, in order to have service done in your vehicle you ought to book an appointment and be there on time.

Been going here for 10 years and usually like this place, taking away 2 stars bc they have a sign on the door claiming an occupancy limit and mask mandate NEITHER of which were being followed by staff or customers. Id rather not catch a disease and die bc of non-compliance of their own rules for my state mandated car inspection. Also took 4 hours to put 2 tires on.
