I went in and Alex advised me on what size would be best, and he quoted me a very fair price. It was difficult to let my most precious possessions go, but I read so many positive reviews I was confident they could be trusted. Alex called me when my rings were done, and when I went to pick them up the rings were in pristine condition. They were clean and sparkling, better than new! You would never know they had been realized, they are perfect. And the price turned out to be even less than I was quoted. I couldnt be happier with how this went!

I first met Alex years ago when I brought my diamond eternity band in to be repaired. He fixed it up better than new! Unfortunately, the flaw was not in the workmanship, but in the type of metal and setting. Stopped wearing it because I was so afraid to lose more diamonds. 2021 is our ten year anniversary, so I decided to give it another try. Brought it in to Alex again, and asked him to transfer the diamonds into a new, stronger and better setting and I couldnt be happier. And, bonus, some of the cost was offset by selling some gold and silver jewelry I no longer wear. Alex is the nicest man and I always feel as if Im treated fairly. His prices are reasonable and he treats everyone with the same level of care and respect. Truly a diamond in the rough among many businesses who have forgotten about mutual respect and dont seem to know what good customer service is anymore.

I took in a very old ring that my mother gave me to be repaired. I had used it on my keychain in college because it didnt fit me (not my smartest choice) so the band was definitely NOT circular anymore. It was so tarnished when I got it that I had no idea that it was even silver! Anyway, I planned on using it as an engagement ring for my girlfriend (now fiancée) and dropped it off to be repaired for that. I was absolutely blown away when I went to pick it up; it didnt even look like the ring Id always known it to look like! I am beyond thankful to this business and definitely recommend others take any jewelry there in need of repair - or even to buy something new! I didnt feel any pressure or suggestion to buy a brand new ring.

They did such an excellent job with resizing my husband’s wedding band. It was an unusually constructed ring, and yet they managed to size it up without detracting from the unusual aesthetic. It was resized within a day, despite expecting it to take 3-4. Overall a perfect transaction, and I can not recommend them highly enough!

I brought in a gold bracelet that had snapped open, wanting it to be welded back shut. I inquired about polishing the bracelet (and its matching pair) also, but when I was told the cost I decided I could only afford the repair (I was really broke at the time but it was my Grandmas bracelet and I wanted to fix it). When I came back to pick up the repaired piece, I was told that they made a mistake by polishing them all even though I had turned down the service, and I was asked to pay for part of that cost. This made me feel very uncomfortable as I did not have the spare sum to pay for it, but I was too embarrassed to admit it, so I paid for the amount they asked for. A few months later the bracelet snapped open again in the same place as the original break. I took it to another jeweler, where I was told that the pitting in the break-area meant the bracelet was likely to always break there and might not be worth the repair. Knowing this I decided not to take on the expense of another repair. I wish I had been given this honest consultation from Medallion Jewelers before they agreed to repair it and charged me for the additional service that I had turned down. I very much feel that they put money above my experience as a client and a person, and it hasnt sat well with me even a year later.

I highly recommend Medallion Jewelers! My father was a furniture designer in Los Angeles and also designed and made custom jewelry. He passed away 10 years ago and I have a gold ring with single pearl and a simple sterling silver bangle bracelet that he made over 60 years ago. These are very sentimental pieces, I was never able to wear them because both were too small. I was very nervous about having the pearl ring sized bigger. When I read the good reviews about Medallion Jewelers and Alex on Google and Yelp I decided to take the ring there. I called first and Alex answered, said they were open until 2 pm that Friday I brought the ring to the store and Alex sized it, my finger, said he could make the ring size bigger and explained the process. I appreciated that he explained the process. He gave me a price for the job, which was very very reasonable, and said theyd give me a call Tues or Weds. I received a call Monday and picked up the ring. The ring looked BEAUTIFUL! AND it fit perfectly. I had my silver bangle bracelet made bigger too...same story, great price, job perfect. I contacted Alex to request custom earrings for my daughter for her wedding. She had picked out a style from a costume jeweler, but costume jewelry for a wedding just felt wrong. I had the work quoted by a couple of other jewelers, and the more I learned about the custom jewelry process, the more I was worried about the earrings turning out the way we wanted. When I looked at Alexs work, I knew I wanted him to make them. His customer service was excellent. His skill is exquisite, he used higher quality materials at a slightly lesser price than the previous quotes, and was so patient with me. I had a lot of questions and was worried about the final results - but at every step, he was patient, answered questions pleasantly and promptly, and the earrings are absolutely gorgeous. They are everything we hoped for. The work in his storefront is just as beautiful. Im so happy that I found him and so proud to give this special gift to my daughter. Now that I have worked with Alex, I wouldnt go anywhere else.

What a wonderful local jeweler whom really knows how to make you glow when he shows you your rings when they are ready. My fiancee and I came in to look for wedding bands. I wasnt particularly too interested just because I was looking for something simple to go with my engagement ring but I didnt like any of the bands.But then the jeweler suggested a wedding band that would match my engagement ring and my eyes sparkled. I never even thought of diamonds on my band before until he suggested it.He got our rings ready in a week and he even cleaned up my engagement ring and fixed it up. I have a ring from Brilliant Earth but its emeralds had fallen out and I just didnt want to go through the process of shipping and getting a quote and waiting weeks and weeks from Brilliant Earth to fix it. So Mediallion Jewelers fixed it and added diamonds, for only $200! It looks so brand new now and it matches the wedding band! It can be difficult to match wedding bands to engagement rings when you buy them from different companies but Im so happy that it worked out!My fiancee got exactly what he wanted: heavy duty 18k gold ring, and me a diamond band to match my engagement ring.I would definitely recommend this place! Its not fancy but the owner knows what hes doing and is very kind.

I could not be happier with my experience with Medallion Jeweler. Alex and his wife were kind and friendly from the first step I took inside their shop.I went to others jewelers and Medallion is about the same price as comparable jewelers. Do not go in expecting same price as Zales, shane co, kay, etc. This is higher quality and comes at a higher price. But by no means was the price unfair. I payed slightly higher then my budget but got a much bigger diamond then i would have imagined. Alex is great at educating you on his field of expertise and gives you his honest advice. I would refer him to any one in the market that is willing to pay for quality.

I brought in a collection of gold rings, earrings, pendants, etc that I would never use and didnt know what to do with. Also a few diamonds from deceased family that were in the gold rings and gold earrings. It seemed like a confusing mass to me and I thought the values would be a guess. The owner carefully identified the quality of gold of each piece as l0 K, l4 k, l8K as they each have different values. Some he could see marked on the piece and some he had to test. He told me why certain rings could not be resold but used only to melt down. He explained why certain diamonds were more valuable than others. He clarified why some of my favorite pieces were of little value and helped me see that it made more sense to keep them as they were more valuable emotionally to me. All in all I was satisfied with the care he took with evaluating every piece, and there were quite a few. I forgot to ask him what percentage of the value of gold that day he took for commission but when I asked myself if I should continue going to other places to compare offers, I realized I was satisfied with what I witnessed. I was very pleased with the offer, ended up taking out a few more pieces that were more meaningful to me and walked out feeling such relief that all these loose ends were gone and that the check in my purse was the result of an easy and seemingly very professional and regulated transaction.

We figured that the ring was too big for her small fingers! (size 4). So we patiently waited for jewelers opened up as this is the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and shopped around for local jewelers who would be able to size down her ring to a 3.5. After much deliberation and shopping around, we were told by Fred Meyer Jewelers right as they were writing up the bill that the sizing of the ring down could not be done given the complexity and how small we were going. We then took the engagement ring to Medallions, where we not only got it done perfectly for her tiny finger, but they complimentary added some rhodium plating to make it sparkle extra! The nice gesture illustrates to me the value they put into their customers. We couldn’t be happier with choosing Medallions and would recommend to our family & friends in the market for jewelry repair!

I award Medallion Jewelers five glowing stars! I approached Medallion Jewelers about repairing my custom-designed wedding ring; the stone had fallen out of the setting. It had wobbled a bit in the unusual tension setting from day one but the makers had assured me that it wasn’t going anywhere. Well, that was true for 15 years, until it suddenly popped out! Alex at Medallion Jewelers immediately identified the stone and two metals the ring is made from. He cleaned it, used lasers to polish away the glue (glue!!) that the makers had tried to use to shore up the setting (funny how they never mentioned that part to me, ahem), and fixed it in two days. Alex advised me about certain things the original makers had not done correctly that he did his best to remedy. Now the stone is completely secure and my beloved ring is shiner and more gorgeous than the day it was made! I was also pleasantly surprised to learn that the total fee was only $75. I am delighted with the service I received!

Wonderful and professional jewelers in the heart of downtown. When I got engaged I needed to get my ring downsized two sizes and most places all over Portland said it would take two weeks. Medallion said they could do it the same day. I was not about to let a jeweler keep my ring for two weeks. The price was fair and I was confident that there was no scams or diamond swapping that you hear about happening at other places. This place is reputable and fast.

My fiance and I took a romantic trip to Portland to buy a setting for a stone we had already purchased. We were ready to give up on Portland jewelry stores after the first two we visited either refused to mount the stone we brought because it was too large (really?) or quoted some ridiculous price to modify an existing setting. Thank goodness we decided to visit one last place! The ring turned out absolutely beautiful and is exactly what I wanted. Alex is very friendly and super accommodating of any budget and style. I picked out the exact setting I wanted and Alex had it modified to fit the stone. The entire transaction took no more than a half hour. I was very fussy with what I wanted and Medallion ensure that I was 100% happy with the product that I received. A Roman numeral became detached from the dial of my Swiss watch. I brought the watch to Mr. Markarian who reattached the Roman numeral, then water/pressure tested the watch for me. He also polished the bracelet and returned the watch to me the following day at a fraction of what anyone else would charge. Im very impressed!

Our search for the perfect estate ring was a long process. Since I have really small hands, a size 4, finding a estate ring that could easily be sized and still look good was difficult.One Saturday afternoon we randomly stopped into Medallion. The shop is located under a SmartPark so it doesnt stand out.We informed the manager what we were looking for and she immediately pulled out 2 rings that fit our criteria. My wifes engagement ring was in rough shape, and, in a way, it always was. The ring itself was cobbled together from spare parts off of eBay on a minimum wage salary. Short and Simple: My ring is beyond any of my expectations and I could not be more impressed or pleased!I got engaged in May and was referred to Alex by a friend who had also worked with him to create a custom masterpiece. It is a very small shop so it takes some time to get on the schedule for custom work, but he is absolutely worth the wait. I supplied the diamond and left the rest in his hands... and it only took him 2 weeks to completely build it from scratch! When I picked it up this Monday, it was far superior than anyones work I had ever seen. It turned out unbelievably stunning! But the best part? I recently visited Medallion Jewelers where I purchased a vintage Sapphire ring for a Christmas present for my wife. I was very impressed with the choice of rings available, both vintage and creatively designed by Alex. The entire buying experience was positive due to Alexs knowledge and friendly manner. I cant say enough positive about Medallion Jewelers. I brought a ring in for sizing and Alex took a great deal of time to precisely measure me with different tools, as Ive always been in between sizes and was nervous about it. My ring was finished in a matter of days (compared with weeks by other jewelers) at half the price. When I picked up the ring, it was done perfectly to size, but I still felt nervous that it was just a hair too big. This was my fault, as I had told him to err on the larger side, as I was too nervous about it being tight. But without hesitation, he kept the ring for a second sizing and didnt charge me a penny! This was twice the work for him and entirely my fault, but he just wanted to make it perfect. In addition, the second sizing was less than a quarter-size adjustment..and it was executed precisely and without any trace of the work. I will be using Medallion for any future jewelry needs! So fair, so friendly.

Alex did an excellent job in helping me find the perfect engagement ring. He had a wide selection of traditional rings, but I settled on a beautiful antique that my fiancee absolutely loves. At the end of the day, he offered great product and fair prices. I will definitely be going back for the wedding bands.

One of the few/only places in Portland able to resize rings within a couple of days, all for a reasonable price. I took in 3 gold rings, and 2 platinum rings to be resized, and they were all ready for collection by day 3. Incredibly helpful and friendly - and if youre extra lucky there are a couple of sweet sweet spaniels you might get the chance to meet!

My experience at Medallion Jewelers was wonderful. I wanted to use my Dad’s wedding ring for my own and they made it happen. This ring has a complicated gold braid in the center and they were able to size it down for me without one flaw. I even asked for a long inscription on the inside and they were able to accommodate that as well. My wedding ring is perfect now. I also had a silver ring that was in terrible condition and they polished it by hand and made it look brand new. Their customer service is unprecedented and I would highly recommend them for any of your jewelry needs.

I brought in a lovely ring I picked up at an antique shop recently and I needed it to be resized. I first took it to Shane Co. and they gave me some excuse about it not being able to be resized because it was silver and possibly plated with something. So I looked up Medallion and saw that they worked in estate jewelry. I brought my ring in and asked if it could be resized and the gentleman I talked to was super nice and knowledgeable. He said that it wasnt coated and that it could be resized with no issues. I got it back the next day, and it was all shined up and it looks amazing! They really breathed new life into an already unique piece. I am very happy with my experience, and will remember them in the future.

We were on the hunt for an engagement ring and the highly rated Medallion was featured in our search. Our knowledge of diamonds was minimal, but we had a rough idea of what we were looking for. When we entered Medallion, the environment was calm, clean and well organized. We were approached by friendly staff and an adorable King Charles Cavalier puppy.We got a chance to have an in-depth chat with owner, Alex about our ideas. Alex was so professional and attentive, he took his time with us and listened well. We loved the fact Alex wanted to share his knowledge and tips (more than I can say for any other jewelers we had visited). We found a diamond of interest, but decided to take a look at a few other stores, so we had something to compare it to.It wasn’t long before we were back at Medallion as I was drawn to a beautiful specimen of a diamond. We must have spent a good hour in the store trying to decipher between two diamonds, and Alex was more than happy to help us further by superimposing how the diamond would look in a prong setting, and showed us the differences between both diamond’s tables. I inspected them both several times under the magnifying glass and walked around the shop to see them sparkle. The quality, carat, colour and cut was spectacular for the price quoted. We decided to purchase one of Alex’s diamonds and have it set in a custom band, which has now been created for us.I couldn’t be happier with the diamond and Alex’s top quality service. We had been looking for a jeweler to resize my wife’s wedding ring for over 10 years off and on. We got prices of too high, $1000, to can’t do it, etc. This year I said let’s do it, and a well-known jewelry chain, recommended we go to the Willamette building, as there are many jewelers there. On the way we walked past the Medallion Jewelers, and went in. He made a lot of sense in what he told us, had samples of a band that expands for arthritis, and would do it for $50 above cost of the part. Amazing! We left for a 2nd opinion at the Willamette building, and got prices from “about $900” ( 3 times the quote of Alex ) to one jeweler trying to make sure we used him, who up and actually cut the ring’s band without asking us, and then tried to tell us what he’ll do. I was livid at that; left and came back to Alex. He did the work in a short time, and we were very pleased with it. Have since gone back and had more quality work done. Extremely pleased. He’s honest, very reasonable with prices, does excellent work, and is very knowledgeable in his craft. My wife is extremely happy with her ring. I’d recommend anyone to check him out and compare.

Two years ago, when I needed money to pay for my dogs surgery (she had cancer), I brought in a Hearts on Fire diamond to sell. The gentleman offered me $1200 to buy it. Then he talked me into paying him to reset it from a ring to a pendant. Having survived the mass shooting event in Las Vegas, I once again find myself in need of funds, this time for my own medical bills. The gentleman offered me $350. Keep in mind I paid $4900 for this piece of jewelry. DO NOT SELL YOUR JEWELRY HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE SWINDLED. Shame on you Medallion Jewelers!

This place rocks!! I went in to have my engagement ring resized and it was such a pleasant experience from the time I walked into the door. The staff were awesome, and they immediately helped me with what I needed. It was $45 to resize my 14k white gold band up a size and it was done in 2 days. The other jewelry stores in the area are... Not nice to say the least. Go here and have a good experience!

Over the last couple years, I have spent a fair amount of time in jewelery stores. First, I accompanied my brother (several times) to one of the larger national chains, while he shopped for an engagement ring. He picked out an amazing ring with a beautiful diamond that his wife adores. About six months ago, I started shopping for an engagement ring myself and visited several stores in downtown Portland. The last store I visited was Medallion Jewelers. Alex spent a lot of time with me going through different options and explaining all of the intracies of diamonds and their settings. When he showed me the ring I ultimately purchased, it was clear to me that it was of equal, if not greater, quality to the one my brother purchased, and about three-quarters of the cost.Since that purchase, I bought wedding bands and a sapphire pendant from Alex. I cant recall a better buying experience than the ones Ive had at Medallion Jewelers. The pricing and the service you will receive leave nothing to be desired. Had a wedding band custom made for me in London, UK and the sizing was too large. I walk in there about a half a month ago trying to at the very least sell a gold tennis braclet that has never been worn and already the clerk askss me where I got it from and if I stole it from my mom and then he keeps acting like im some street thug who does nothing but peddle things for money to get drugs I just wanted to sell it to get some extra cash for my rent!! I will never go back to that awful store I dont know what the clerks problem was all I know is that he was rude, uncooperative and frankly downright streotyping me. Goodbye and goodday sir!! >:(

This place is Awesome! I got engaged about a year and a half ago. Our wedding is in two months. We got an antique ring from an estate sale and the ring is almost a hundred years old. Well, 99 years old to be exact. Within one month of me wearing the ring one of the larger diamonds fell out. You can imagine my horror Im sure when my Fiance pointed out that something was wrong with my ring and looking down I see a huge gaping hole. I almost had a murmur.We promptly sent the ring back to the original place that we bought the ring from and they after some goading said that they would replace the diamond. Well, when the ring came back the diamond was not right. It had a slightly pinkish cast and the Culet which to those of us that dont know that much about diamonds means the bottom point was cut very short and therefore the diamond also looked lack luster and greyish or darker than the other brilliantly sparkly old antique cut diamonds.I brought my ring to Alex when we moved to Portland to see if he could replace the diamond. I was really hesitant at first because the company that we had bought the ring from couldnt even fix it right so I didnt know if it was a lost cause. We talked for a while and I got to know what an upstanding and respectful guy he is. He is the ultimate professional. He told me that it is very hard to find that exact diamond just because it is so old and they do not cut diamonds like that anymore.My mistake was listening to my mother. My mother is getting into the jewelry industry as a designer and thinks she knows best. Love her to pieces but I trusted her with my ring when she said that her guy that she works with could fix my ring in Downtown Los Angeles I let her. The ring when I got it back had grey dull metal on the corners where they were soldering the edges and the tiny little Platinum balls that were holding the diamonds in were now three times as large and Yellow. WHAT the Hell. YELLOW. My ring is Platinum. I thought they ruined it. My heart was broken thinking that my ring was ruined two months before my wedding.Alas, Alex not only saved my ring but he made it look better than I thought possible. We kept the diamond from the other guy but fixed the Platinum setting perfectly. I am so happy I could cry. I will never trust my jewelry with anyone else. Alex is the man! Thank you Alex! And the price did not break the bank. Can not recommend more.
