The staff at Alchemy were thorough with the consultation, and under promised and over delivered massively in regards to both the quoted price and time. The repair is seamless. I had looked up this shop and had ok reviews on jewelry repair, so I decided to walk down, I had a couple of questions on a repair! When I arrived the sigh said MASK Required I was some what greeted bu a lady in a long white coat and opened the door a crack and asked what I wanted I told thelasy land she likes at me and said i couldnt talk to no body and she refused to repair and locked the door on me and would not give me the owner! I may look like a street person, but om not I just retired dor a retailer unacceptable customer service

Their hospitality and the way they handle their customers are great. I had a necklace that was broken and they were able to fix it for me. It was easy to make an appointment. They also have great COVID precautions. I would recommend them!

Wow. These folks did an amazing job both cleaning up my engagement ring, and repairing my husbands wedding band. His ring had lost its lone sapphire and they showed us a set of gorgeous stones, then repaired it in record time for a really good value. If anything happens to my ring, Im taking it there!

My fiancé proposed with an antique ring, but I wasn’t able to wear it because it needed a complex repair and resizing. The staff at Alchemy were incredibly friendly and walked me through the process necessary to restore it to its original beauty. It turned out absolutely gorgeous! It’s nearly a hundred years old but looks like it was made yesterday. I would highly recommend Alchemy to anyone with an heirloom piece that needs restoration!

So I found this place by googling jewelry alterations stainless steel. They were the first result. Went to their website to learn more. Set an in-person appointment to see them today. In the meantime, I sent them a text message specifying exactly what I wanted, and a bit later emailed them with even more thorough explanation, AND pictures of what I wanted.I got a text back and an email confirmation for my appointment. Great. Went to see them today.First, they open the door and explain it was supposed to be a phone consultation. Well, no, it wasnt... In fact I went back and checked the confirmation email. It very clearly says, in unmistakable bolds, beside the heading WHERE, that the location will be at your store and provides the address. But never mind, that by itself can be overlooked.I had already put on my mask, which is an antibacterial / antiviral mask I special ordered online. They start insisting I put on one of their cheap 1 dollar blue disposable masks. I explain the thing Im wearing is far better. They continue insisting. Fine. Im not going to argue. Im already wearing a mask but you want me to wear *your* mask... Never mind. We can still overlook this.Next the consultation starts, and its clear they didnt actually read my text messages OR the email. They dont know what I want done, and only say we cant work with stainless steel... Well... You did come up on a google search specifically for that... And nothing on your website said steel was offlimits... AND I told you it was stainless steel in the email you didnt read... But you know what? This can still be overlooked!I explain what I said in my email - that Id like the necklace remade with some changes (this was surprising to them which tells me again they didnt read it), and it can be done using the cheapest materials, so long as the design stays the way I want. Im told they only use the most expensive materials.My necklace cost 29 dollars. Cost of getting it remade? 5,000 dollars. Yes, you read that right, FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS to remake a 29 dollar necklace. I told you EXACTLY what I wanted in email and text, along with pictures. If you had read the email, you could have replied back telling me you change such an utterly ridiculous price for a necklace that cost 29 dollars.This was a total waste of time.

Last year I broke a prong and lost a diamond on my wedding ring. I chose Alchemy because I thought they looked trustworthy and professional. I went in not knowing what to expect. My ring isn’t the highest quality or most expensive which doesn’t matter to me but it matters to some people. So, I was really anxious to bring it in. I was happily surprised because the gentleman that helped me was kind, professional and non-judgemental. They replaced the diamond and retipped the prongs for a reasonable price. The quality of work and service was great.I recently broke another prong and took it back to Alchemy thinking they would fix it as they had before. I received a phone call a few weeks later from Kellie explaining that I had cracked the diamond as well and that the amount of work needed to fix my ring wasn’t something they would do for me. So, I went in to pick up my ring having a sneaking suspicion based off of other comments made that I wasn’t getting the full truth. After further questioning as to why they couldn’t fix it this time it became very apparent to me that it wasn’t a matter of my ring being beyond repair but that they “couldn’t” fix it because my ring and the diamonds didn’t meet their standards. Instead of just replacing the diamond that was cracked and retipping the prongs, which is the service I asked for, they turned me away because they decided my ring needed a lot of unnecessary work to bring it up to the standards of their shop (even though they did not design the ring). As a designer myself, I don’t understand this attitude but would have been far more understanding if they would have been honest and not twist and manipulate the situation to try to get me to buy something custom from them.I will never go back and I will never recommend them again. It was an extremely disappointing experience.*Update - I took my ring to another jeweler. They were kind, professional and found nothing wrong with my ring other than the broken prong. They also informed me that the past jeweler hadnt even cleaned it to inspect it. I think it is also important to note that they did not make me feel like less for not having the most expensive ring.

My husband got my engagement ring here through one of their local designers and we later came back to get our wedding bands made. 1 year later and I am still so in love with all 3 of the rings purchased through Alchemy. The customer service is above and beyond and I get compliments on my rings regularly, especially since my engagement stone is a bit more unusual. Both times we were getting rings designed/picking out a custom stone the person helping us (I think it was David) was fantastic. I would recommend this to anyone looking for that perfect piece of jewelry for themselves or someone else.

Everyone in the shop is really nice, Sander was so helpful and Davids work is absolutely amazing. When the stones on my wedding ring starting spinning after a month of me beating it up, I was at a loss of where to go. I started searching for jewelry stores in the neighborhood and come upon Alchemy. Im usually pretty awkward person when it comes to jewelry stores, or anything high end for that matter, so I called ahead to make sure that theyd be willing to take a look at it.I walked in later that afternoon and was immediately greeted by staff, who, much to my delight, were so marvelously welcoming and down to earth that I felt at ease handing over my late mothers ring for them to take a look. They took the time to explain what had happened and then repaired it for me while I waited. The ring means so much to me I wasnt sure how I could part with it, even for a day. It may seem like a simple thing, but I am so grateful for Alchemy and their quick repair job!

Alchemy is the only place in Portland where I know experts are handcrafting jewelry. You can actually see their workshop from the showroom. They are the real deal.So much of the jewelry at Alchemy is inspired by nature, which sets the perfect tone for the shop atmosphere and collection of jewelry as a whole. Anyone who appreciates fine art and expert craftsmanship will like this shop.Alchemy is a gem in the pearl district, and you should visit their showroom whether shopping for jewelry or wanting to see something beautiful.

After we got engaged we went to Alchemy to have them make my ring. I had a good idea of what I liked and wanted (we had stones) but the CAD design drawings were brilliant in helping us finalize the design. After David (owner / goldsmith / artist / jeweler) sketched some designs based on what I liked he was able to show some some very accurate computerized renderings. When you are investing in a custom designed ring you plan to wear for the rest of your life, it is a bit nerve wracking! Being able to see a very accurate approximation gave us confidence. A few weeks later I was able to try a mold and before too long an unpolished casting. I now have my beautiful ring and I love it! It is beautifully made and I really appreciated David and his staffs patience and talent in making something special. He also kindly saved the vintage family heirloom ring that we used a stone from and was curious and sensitive about the story behind the jewelry. I also love the rest of the store - he has a wonderful selection of jewelry from other master jewelers and whether you are going there for a custom piece or to find something beautiful that they have in stock, Alchemy is a place to find something a little different and gorgeous. Highly recommend!

My fiance and I came in on a Saturday, having already picked out a ring online, in desperate need to have my finger accurately sized. Immediately they started asking questions about the type of ring and helped us to get the right size, despite knowing that we had set our sights on a ring elsewhere. We were both very worried about asking for such a service having already picked a ring elsewhere, but were met with warm, friendly customer service. That speaks to the quality of people that they bring aboard.

I was initially hesitant to visit Alchemy. From what I saw on their website, the style of Jewelry they carry didnt seem to match my fiancees tastes. Im so glad I went in anyway. What distinguishes Alchemy from other jewelers is their service. I bought a humble gold band, but to me it was the most important purchase I had ever made. Adam worked with me to find the right one, within my budget, and even ultimately helped me customize it with his particular etching style to make it truly unique. I couldnt be happier with the product and the service at Alchemy. While I would normally not look to shops in the Pearl for big purchases, I am so glad I went to Alchemy. I will be back.

I came in expaling that I had three chains to repair and he handled my chains with such care, you can tell how facinated he was about his work. unfortunately I forgot the mans name but he made me feel like I was at home. While the store would receive high reviews based on that fact alone, the staff at Alchemy also adds in unique offerings and excellent customer service for a five star experience. Sander was informative and friendly without being pushy - in addition to offering a great pizza restaurant suggestion! While we found the perfect Anne Sportun vintage engagement ring at Alchemy, the selection was so amazing that we were also able to find a matching wedding band in-store as well. For anyone looking for a ring outside of the generic jewelers with an unforgettable buying experience, look no further than Alchemy Jeweler.
