For Two weeks my garbage was not getting picked up. It is not the first time either. I called and asked what happened, you received my payment but didnt pick up my garbage?And one time i payed extra for returning truck but truck no return for pick up garbage.Maybe time go to court?How you think?
I ask very nicely for them to stop using Bany Rd. because its a neighborhood with kids and families walking every day. School at each end should be using Farmington to Murray streets that are built for trucks. Very noisy and move my house every time they drive by. AS of 9/1/2020 they are still using Bany Rd. there trucks are noise and shack our homes every time they drive by, WHY IS 5 MINUTES SO IMPORTANT TO SAVE WHEN THEY SHOW SO MANY CUSTOMERS THEY DONT CARE ABOUT OUR NEIGHBORHOODS.
I don’t generally write reviews like this but I feel the need to warn others so they don’t have to experience the same thing. I spent months saving up money for a dumpster for my project. I ordered online and even paid for a permit locally since it was going to be on the street. Nowhere on the website was I prompted about needing to fill out specific paperwork for construction waste. In fact they didn’t tell me until they tried to pick it up and was going to charge me for the failed pick up and everyday it took to get the paperwork signed and materials tested($70 later). I have checked the website so many times and went through the prompt again thinking I forgot to check a box but nothing said anything about this. I ended up getting them to say that they weren’t going to charge me for pick up or additional days while I wait to get the items tested. They finally picked it up and a few weeks later I was charged an invoice for overage. I had a feeling it might be over and I was totally happy to pay that but then there was additional hauling charge? Even though their website says no hidden fees and delivery and pick up were included. What the hell did I pay $900 for then? On top of them trying to charge me an additional $1100. I have tried calling them several times. One time I was transferred to 8 different people and then the last person said they would have someone who could answer my question call me that day. Ten days later no phone call so I tried again this morning, again was transferred to 4 different people and on the last transfer I had to hit a number to get a certain office and it just hung up. The people who I spoke with were very nice don’t get me wrong but if I could give this place 0 stars I would. DON’T rent a dumpster here. If I could change my regular service I would but I can’t unfortunately. I shouldn’t have to pay for their mistakes or poorly designed website.Edit: While still trying to figure out these extra charges somehow waste management decided to run autopay which I have never used before so I am not sure how they were able to do that and so luckily they ran an old credit card that didn’t work. The invoice also says it was due the 31st and they were just going do whatever they want and just take it out ten days early. Ridiculous.
You will regret using this company if you do. The customer service at this place makes Comcast look like a bunch of kindergartners.
This is the worst company i even found so far. They charged twice as muchas the competitor for dumpster rental. Two tons of roof shingles, three daysrental, they sent me the bill of $1115. That means almost $600 per ton forregular garbage. Dont use waste management service for Portland. They will kill your business.
We moved into our new home in Portland a little over two months ago. We called Waste Management the very first day we got here as the tenant before us took their bins with them. We have a new born and unfortunately produce quite a lot of trash. Let alone the amount made just from moving.Weve been told that new cans would be delivered more than 4 times now. Each time we call back to let them know that none were delivered we get told that they will put another order in. After multiple attempts we were told production is low due to COVID (which is understandable) but we have yet to be told an ETA, we are getting charged for anything more than two bags of trash that we have to leave on the sidewalk.Lastly I drove by a waste management facility off of highway 30 and saw hundreds of bins and we have still yet to be told if/when we are going to get one.Terrible service that has caused a lot of stress and strain on our family as we have trash constantly piling up and we have absolutely no assurances of when we will get trash cans or if we even will!
Update-After messaging [email protected] I was contacted the next day by a rep and told that my account had received a credit for the missed pick-ups and that she would be following up to make sure pick-ups would take place as scheduled. For the last two weeks everything has been picked up on the scheduled days with no issues at all. Ive updated my review to 3 stars because of the time spent addressing the whole process and the uncertainty of if it will last or if regular missed pick-ups will resume. I would rate 5/5 for the WM rep, Octavias, quick response, excellent communication, and resolution after emailing WMcaresOriginal-I am consistently disappointed and frustrated with this company. All-in-all they are overpriced, disorganized, dishonest, and have no competition so no incentive to follow through on what you are paying for. They always fail to pick up on the day they schedule, take 2 to 3 days to pick up when you call them, and offer no credits to your bill even though they are not fulfilling their end of the agreement. The only thing they are prompt and smooth on is getting bills out and processing the money from your pocket to theirs. If there is ever any way to decrease their funding or pick another company over this one then I will make time and pay extra.
Two stars because the drivers are awesome. I’d give no stars because this is a monopoly who has run out of town all the other haulers in collusion with the local governments by setting rates so low that no little company can survive. This is happening around the nation and people need to rise up and take action. Of course, no one wants to pay more for garbage so why would they. :-/ I wrote this because I had a billing issue that I was told was resolved yet it wasn’t and they took my container away and now to restore service I have to pay an additional $25 extra. Here’s another idea: pay for what we use!? I sometimes don’t have garbage to put out but I still get charged. I will on occasion have extra trash that I put out and get charged extra. Makes no sense.UPDATE to this review- bill is paid and everything up to date. I got my garbage bin back. Put garage and recycling out today and now ALL my cans are gone. Tried calling but no one available. What’s up WM??
Service is horrible. Waste management is over 2X more expensive than the other options around town. They raise their rates more than 50% in a two year window to try to trap you in to a lower rate when you sign the contract. Then if you sign a contract you can not cancel like most respectable businesses I understand requiring a 30 day notice at the end of your term. With waste management you need to put your cancellation notice in 3 months prior, but not more that 6 months prior. If you fall one day off of this they will automatically lock you in to and additional 2 year contract with ever increasing rates. Also be careful because even if you follow there guidelines and get your cancellation in within the window, but you sent it in by email or regular mail they will not accept it, it needs to be registered mail. One last rant on their stellar customer service if you have a trash container and say there is a piece of clothing hanging over the edge and the lid is not fully closed be prepared to receive a $175 monthly fine. Anything you can do to avoid this business is in your best interest.

Honestly, this company does a great service that no one else wants to do, and its no easy job. I dont know why this company is getting such terrible reviews, Ive never had a problem. I called their customer service to switch out my trash can, they switched it out the next service day. When my glass container got stolen, I called customer service a they replaced it the next service day.
This company is not pick up the garbage on the days that is supposed to, my frustration is, I pay for the service on time and the service is not done, besides, if you delay in pay the bill, they charge you a fee. Why not be both ways, why not pay a fee for the for those affects when your company dont deliver the job, or even better, give a discount to not sound that bad for your company. We are very disappointed here in the zip code 97220 NE Portland. I believe that have a lot more people disappointed that is not taking the time to write a review here.
They break cans and toss them without telling you. Ive lost 2 recycle bins AND a garbage can to these guys.They brought me some of theirs instead of getting me my own . Then every so often a collector FREAKS out on me because of how many cans I have!!They drop garbage and dont pick it up, and charge you an extra $5 if your lid doesnt close all the way!!horrible service all around!! And we no longer have bulk pickup days! you just get a note saying they wont take items.
Really people there has been ice and snow all over the roads for the past 2 weeks go figure they havent been able to pick up YOUR trash. How do you think the drivers feel when they have to work 17 hour days just to get caught up because of the ice? They dont want their customers to be unhappy but they also dont need their staff breaking hips or trucks getting stuck, and sliding into your cars on portlands narrow neighborhoods. Its all for the companies liability and the safety for everyone.
I just called customer service and spoke to Samantha because my garbage can has a split lid letting the rain in. She was very helpful and said a new one will be delivered next Friday. Very helpful.
Whats not to love? Thy get rid of your trash and recycling! I also love the breakout of green waste and the commercial composting they do. I wish you could get discounted or a certain amount of free compost since we contribute to the composting. I know they provide the service, but even a free cubic yard each year would be awesome. Oh well, no question on what to do with pizza boxes anymore!
Now doing half the work for twice the price! Doesnt get better than that, does it boys? The clowns sent out for curbside pick up like to display passive-aggressive behavior by accidentally leaving your collection bins in the street to obstruct traffic, breaking bins, or forgetting to stop and pick up. And since The City of Portland decided that we didnt have a big enough rat problem and therefore didnt need garbage service weekly, these guys got to charge the same amount for showing up half as often. Until recently increasing rates, that is.
This should be professionally owned by the city or something and should be mandatory free or at least a lot better I pay almost $100 a month and I get nothing but attitude and lip when I call the corporate office

This companys billing group is ridiculously inept. It has taken 10 months and over 20 contact attempts to get a simple billing issue resolved. Then, when trying to fix that they messed up my service order and stopped picking up our recycling carts. When informed, they said they would pick up Thursday (they didnt), then they promised Friday (they didnt) and they never follow up with an explanation or apology.Trash pickup is one of those services you should never notice... these guys are very noticeable and have wasted a ton of my time. I was Googling to look for alternative providers and their name popped up and said no reviews so I figured I should drop my experience on here - and Yes, I have brought all of this up directly with multiple people at WM.
They skipped picking up my garbage yesterday morning (even though it was on the curb since the night before). I called and they refuse to come pick it up, saying I can just leave out extra bags when they come again in two weeks. I share this can with my downstairs neighbor (four-plex), so they arent picking up trash from two households for FOUR weeks! The can is already full! I dont even have garbage bags because I use a small trash can and use small paper bags as liners. So I either have to go out and buy garbage bags that Ill never use again (waste of plastic), or leave a bunch of paper bags filled with trash outside my home. The lady on the phone was nice, thus the two stars instead of one. Obviously they dont even care about all these negative reviews since theyre the only option.
The person that picks up my recycle has neglected to pick up my recycled 3 weeks in a row now... no not stating why....yes the 1st week my bin was slightly open with recycle but I have never had a problem with the company....literally in the same neighborhood never had a problem with my trash or recycle ever being left... until now....thoroughly digusted....no communication as of why.....I pay them to leave my recycle 3 weeks in a row....smh seriously :/

Their unethical policy is to charge you even if they dont show up. They hide from their customers and are only in business because of the regulatory environment in which they operate. It must be hard to work there.
Waste Management does not deserve even 1 star. They have the worst service I have ever experienced.
This company fraudulently charges customers. They didnt show up for an entire week, and we were still charged. Called company and they said they dont issue credit when they decide to not show up to perform the service theyve been paid for.
This Company could not survive in a competitive market place. One star is much to high but only choice available. Service is poor and accurate information even worse.

And then, they make you feel like it was YOUR fault in whatever way possible even though your bill is paid in full,They send your cash payment that you make in store to California for PROCESSING, and have no record of it where it was paid. Just about everything about them is bad. If they miss, they could care less about picking it up until the next scheduled pick up. The are big we are small and they do whatever they want.
Wish I could post zero stars. We are in Clackamas, just looking to haul off soil from a bin. Billing is wrong every time, rarely spot the bin in the same spot. Claim soil is contaminated? Charge 10 times the rate for this contaminated soil without a call.
Awful service, but no other options. Theyve missed pickups despite having my trash to the curb on schedule the night before and refuse to come back to pick it up, despite that being a city of Portland requirement.They only give you the option to leave an extra bag out in two weeks. On other occasions theyve spilled my trash all over the street and left it for us to deal with.

Horrible service from trash driver if lid of can Is up one inch he takes out two bags and throws them on the ground. When calling the Portland office they are even worst to get anything done you have to call the 800 number. Since it is a monopoly and you cant bring in another company they can treat you any way they want unless your willing to drop off garbage weekly at the dump.
WM will rip you off. Call Around for prices. They got me for almost $1400. The next time I got a dumpster from another company it was only $400.
