We had just started work in our new office space and a toilet pipe burst open and started spraying and filling the entire office with water on a Friday after 5pm. Wayne arrived in an instant and had the whole thing fixed in less than an hour. He worked hard to get us the best price and make sure management rightfully took responsibility for the root of the problem - poor installation. He had a great attitude and kept everyone calm in a crisis. Incredible service!
I called D&F plumbing to ask for help with installing a new sink. Frankie, the technician came out the next day. He took some pictures of the sink and then went sat in his truck for a while. He then came back and told me that they dont do undermount sink installation. They only do plumbing related to the sink. I told Frankie that I wish they were honest at the start so we didnt have to waste our time. Frankie also agreed with me that the service call should not be charged. Its clearly a miscommunication. A few days later they did go ahead and charged me $119 for the service call. I called them back and asked to speak with their manager. Kevin, the manager came on the phone. Instead of trying to remedy the miscommunication, he was justifying the charge due to the technicalities of my request. The fee charged is not a huge issue for me. Its the dishonesty and lack of integrity that this business demonstrates thats concerning. There are a lot of good honest companies out there that will try their best to earn your business. Too bad D&F plumbing is not one of them.
Joe came to do plumbing work we thought we needed for a new dishwasher and he identified that we didn’t actually need the work someone else had told us we did. He quickly pivoted and made a bunch of phone calls to rearrange the job and then was able to do the dishwasher installation himself… saving time and money. We appreciated his friendly attitude and professional service. Also liked that the company sent the text when he was on his way which helped us anticipate his arrival. Thanks Joe!
Came at a last minute request. We had a pipe burst under our house. Turned the water off fairly quicker but the damage had been done. Great work by them!
I cannot speak to the competitiveness of pricing since I just went with them right away, but I can tell you I dont regret it! Everyone I dealt with at this company was kind, professional and helpful. As a woman who lives alone, its very uncomfortable to let strangers into my home, but everyone that showed up was very professional and I was at ease with all of them. They showed up when they said they would, they did the work they said they would do and they were wonderful communicators the whole time. Evan did the bulk of the work for me, and he was magnificent. Great experience all the way around.
Our kitchen sink started leaking. Called someone else and they were booked out a month. Called D&F and they had Randy out to us just a few hours later. He quickly diagnosed the issue, priced the repair, and was able to do fix it today, all in one trip. Very happy customer.
We needed a same-day plumber and D&F was wonderful. We appreciated getting a text about the name of the plumber and his photo so we knew who to expect. The folks we spoke to on the phone were great communicators and very helpful. Everyone was kind. Would call them again.
Randy with D&F Plumbing discussed many aspects of the plumbing in my older home. He seemed very knowledgeable, experienced, and confident. He easily addressed the replacement of my washing machine valves. He was very professional and personable, and I feel confident the work was done well, and I won’t have problems with this issue any more. The price was higher than I expected, but I really don’t have any other experience with plumbers to compare it to. Overall I feel good about my experience with D&F Plumbing, and would definitely use them for future plumbing needs.
I had called several plumbing companies and no one could come for at least 2 weeks. D&F arranged for after hours appointment and then had a cancellation so was able to waive the fee and come during the day. Randy was outstanding-found the problem with our outdoor faucet, fixed it and answered some other plumbing questions for me. Would hire them again for sure. Very responsive and great communication.
Joe H. was a delight to have working on our plumbing to remove a clog between the street and our basement. He spent five hours trying different things on a very persistent and hard to remove clog. He went out and got more equipment and returned. Above all, Joes can-do attitude is exactly what made this experience a very good one, when it could have been very bad. He kept saying WE WILL GET THIS DONE! with a smile, never frustrated, just tenacious. And believe me, it is very easy to find a sour-attitude plumber. Not Joe, though! He was all smiles and determination. Thank you, Joe!
We used them to install a shower faucet and that experience was excellent, however we brought them back out to replace a tub drain and we will not use them again, even though my mother works indirectly with them. To start Kevin is the most dismissive individual I have ever spoken with in my entire life, when I told them their pricing was outrageous he compared their plumbers to medical professionals and lawyers which I thought was a bit presumptuous. I can go see a medical specialist as a new patient and pay less out of pocket that what D&F is charging. Kevins comment alone and attitude is enough for anyone to choose a different company.
Im so glad I went with D & F Plumbing! Evan was fast and effective to rule out the plumbing as the cause of our leaky basement and then he went above and beyond to answer all my questions and give practical advice for next steps. Very impressed and grateful!
Stay Away!!!They charged me almost $1,000 to slap a $0.67 plug on my water heater. Thats right, they did not attempt to fix it, they did not verify what the problem was at all, they simply put a band-aid on it.Not once did my tech pull out a tool, and he was on the phone asking for help/guidance/quotes for much of the service. They then gave me a quote to actually fix things. They want almost 12x more than the competition to replace my water heater. Who TF can afford $14,000 for a water heater?!?!? I have a quote for $1,200 from the competition, guess which way Ill be going!
D and F plumbing is an amazing establishment. The communication is on point through the whole process. Very professional. Prices are competitive. I received a text when Joe Hammers was on his way as well as a picture of him. He was on time, courteous, professional, respectful and did an excellent job repairing my toilet, as well as leaving the bathroom neat and clean. I would highly recommend D and F as well as Joe Hammers. Outstanding service!
Evan Brightman and Phil (last name?) did an excellent job. They were personable, knowledgeable, and very skillful in putting in the plumbing for the new bathroom in our basement. I felt like D&Fs price was quite fair, and that the work could not have been done more professionally.
EDITED from original below after response. Raised from 1 to 4 stars. It took longer and was harder than it should have been but D&F made good.I mailed D&F a copy of this review four weeks ago with no response:Over the last few months, we spent around $15,000 for plumbing services on our remodel project. Over the years, it is far more money than that. The vast majority of the work on this job was done by Plumber A. After the tenants moved in, we discovered the dishwasher (which we installed) did not work. Plumber A met my wife there and said though it appears to be in great shape and brand new, he could not get it to work (it came with the house).Rather than leave the tenants without, we opted to buy the same dishwasher and swap out. We’d repair the old one, probably under warranty, and install in another property at a later date. I explained this to the gentleman that scheduled Plumber A for the service call. The cost was insane but sometimes just getting it done is the best option. The day of service, Plumber A was pulled off the job for personal reasons and Plumber B was sent to the house where the tenants were meeting him. I got a call confirming the insane price quoted and told him to go ahead.Tenant texts to say he is finished and I reply back I will come pick up the old machine later in the day. “He took it with him.” I call the office and say he needs to return it so we can repair. When I get there, the front panel of a $1250 stainless steel dishwasher is destroyed. It’s right around 6PM on Thursday so I leave a message that we have an issue that needs to be addressed. I don’t get a call back so on Tuesday the following week, call in.“What do you want?” “I think you either need to credit the install or replace the door.” “Since you authorized the service, which included the removal, we are not responsible.”Scheduler knew it was not being disposed. Plumber A knew it was not being disposed. Plumber B just gave me a dollar amount over the phone and never mentioned disposal yet I am supposed to know that I am getting a “service” I do not want? This is how a company changes a four, not quite five star, review into a one star review in one easy step. I can’t accept that there is no responsibility taken for a $700+ dishwasher install and that no questions were asked before destroying what appeared to be a brand-new machine.
Only plumber that said they could see me same day after calling at least 6 companies. Came promptly, actually early. Wayne was very fast and friendly. Expensive, but I’m grateful they could come the day I called and get it done so quickly and done well.
Ozzy Rules! And so does D&F plumbing, as they came over quickly and assessed our sewer and water heater situations, gave us amazing advice and removed and installed a brand new water heater that same day. Ozzy was beyond personable, patient, respectful and skilled! He checked his work twice, articulated the situation and resolve with confidence and made us feel comfortable in making the right decisions. Look no further, as D&F plumbing will take great care of all your plumbing needs. I trust them implicitly, and if there are only five stars to give, then I give them 5 stars! Ozzy is the best! Ozzy was so awesome, I kept asking for more quotes!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I am very pleased with my experience. I had a broken pipe and was very stressed. Amy and Hannah were very helpful and understanding while making my appointment. My tech Randy Sosa was very professional and patient….answering all of my questions and offering re-piping options. I will use D and F Plumbing again.
My household had a terrible experience with D&F Plumbing, and I wanted to write this review to hopefully prevent others from having similar experiences and to help the company change. Ill do my best to be brief and objective in highlighting the issues with this company and our plumbing experience. We had plumbers Aaron and Brandon come to fix a leak we had been experiencing from a pipe leaking through our ceiling.Aaron initially quoted us $1300, when he opened up our ceiling and saw the issue two days later after the assessment, the price became $3500. They then worked on it for about 12 hours that day. They left on a few occasions for between 30 min - 1 hr each time without communicating where they were going. Aaron frequently seemed frustrated at how challenging the job was telling us at different points that he was frustrated, had tried every trick in the book, and that it was the hardest job Ive ever had. Totally reasonable for a job to be hard, but they did not bring in any back-up or admit that it may have been a job outside their scope. The end result of their job was a pipe jutting outwards from our wall rather than within the wall, excessive demolition of the wall and ceiling beyond what was needed, a hole in the wall in the adjacent room to the pipes, a toilet put back in the floor out of alignment with exposed cracks in the floor, and to top it off one of the pipes leaked periodically for at least that evening, we had to put a bucket down. Ive attached pictures of some of this. They left the house very dirty without cleaning up various leftovers of drywall dust and debris. Aaron did not say anything about the hole in our kitchen wall. The way they finished this job will require us paying contractors and plumbing much more than we would have needed if we had gone with another plumber initially.Aftermath:The next day, we initially called to complain about the plumbing job, they said they would get back to us with someone more in charge of the business, they never did. Instead plumber Aaron shows up at our house unannounced that day. He sat around our living room waiting for my landlord to finish up with counseling sessions he already had scheduled. It was very awkward to have a stranger, in Covid times especially, milling around our common areas. When asked why he was here he stated “I thought I would just come by, this isn’t the kind ofthing you talk about over the phone, so I thought I would come in person.” When my landlord did talk to him, he was highly defensive. We have tried reaching out to the company through a good friends assistance who is a professional contractor, they have been evasive with him and have not gotten back in touch with him or us about this debacle of a plumbing job. He tried to visit them in person from the address listed here on google, he could not find any business at the address named or related to D&F Plumbing. Maybe they moved? It was very odd they didnt tell him that wasnt their address when he told the receptionist he was going to come talk in person. We have had two contractors and another plumber come inspect their work and they all agree that it was poor quality work and that they were trying to overcharge us for what they were doing.D&F Plumbing, there is still an opportunity for you to put this right. If you reach out to me I will connect you to the contractor who has been trying to get in touch with you. For everyone else, I would recommend you go elsewhere for your plumbing needs, at least as of now, this was a terrible plumbing experience for us and I wouldnt wish it on anyone else. Its sad that a company would put us through this and not communicate or try to make right their plumbing job during a time as difficult as this for all of us.Terrible Plumbing Experience with D&F Plumbing - Go With Another Company
I had a leaking pipe under the house. After calling six other plumbers who did not return my call, I called D & F. I was grateful they could fit me in the same day. Ozzy, the tech, was on time. He was polite, friendly, and amazingly cheerful about having to crawl under the house, and work in four inches of water. The job was finished in less than an hour. I can sleep easy tonight. I had a terrible sleep last night, because I didnt think I could find someone to come the same day.
The plumber from D and F Plumbing did a fantastic job of clearing my drains and explaining my problem to me. Unfortunately, because it was an emergency after hours call, he charged me a $1000 to diagnose the problem and do the work. That seems exorbitant to me, but I was very glad to have the problem solved. My HOA should pay for this, because I did not cause the problem, but they are reluctant to pay that much.
The worst service that I have experienced. I had an appointment with them on Wednesday from 8-10, so I need to take a day off. 10:30 I called them to ask why they still did not come yet. They told me that they will come in 1 hour. 2 hours later, I called a gain and they told that they will come on the next day. Cool. On the next day, they came. At first, they sent me an estimate that was $2130. Im ok. After that, they told me that its changed to $3123. I did not agree with that, they charged me $119 for taking a picture of my vent pipe. I was totally not satisfied with it and called customer service to refund me. They told me that they can not refund. Okay :/ What a nice company.
Johnny Walker an D&F were willing to work with us making a toilet replacement a two step process. First the old one had to be removed so I could replace and paint damaged drywall that was behind. Johnny then came back and installed the new toilet. His professionalism and quality of work are very impressive.
D & F Plumbing provided friendly, professional and prompt service for my home. Ben arrived exactly on time, was quick to complete and even left the area spotlessly clean. I chose D & F due to their high quality of service reputation, getting the job done right first time!
Jason is the MAN! We hired for an install of our washer/dryer to be placed in our garage. He did a beautiful, clean job of water hook up and proper venting for both washer and dryer. They even moved our machines from our third story all the way down to our garage as part of the price agreement. My husband and I have several projects ahead of us, and we want Jason for all of them! Professional, on time, clean and tidy, easy to schedule and get the work done when WE need it done! SO IMPRESSED!!!!!! We called several plumbers and they either canceled their appointments on us, didnt even show up, were hard to get a hold of, or over estimated the price. D & F made it....so easy! You guys are the BEST!
Randy came out same day to solve an issue we were having. It was a super simple, quick fix for him, and we were able to get our water back on. Great experience from start to finish.
Ozzy Choukri did an outstanding job for me today. He was able to solve my problem with ease. He explained the job clearly and completely, was positive and helpful, completing the job quickly and professionally. I will call on D & F Plumbing (and Ozzy) again if I have plumbing needs.Thank you.
I had an emergency with a broken pipe under the house. After calling six other plumbers, and not getting a call back, I called D&F. I am grateful that they could come out the same day. Ozzy, the tech, showed up on time. He was polite, friendly, and amazingly cheerful about having to crawl under the house and work in four inches of water. The job was finished in less than an hour. I can sleep easy tonight. I had a bad night, last night...because I didnt think I would be able to get same-day service.
Joe Hammers did not leave us in the lurch. He worked for many many hours into the night to make sure he got the job done so we would have a working house again before he left. We had had a couple negative experiences with other companies in the last few years. Some places charge a high diagnostic fee but don’t actually guarantee what they’re saying is true. Joe was able to show us multiple crucial things about our house and work that had been done before. He fixed for us what another company had said there was nothing that could be done. We are passing out this company’s contact info to all our friends and relatives. Joe is the most effective, honest, tenacious plumber any of us have ever found!
Randy was at my place today (June 4) to replace a valve in my kitchen. He was great to work with, punctual to the point and super careful with our brittle pipes. He came on a very short notice and while D & F is expensive, you know what you sign up for with your very first call. They explain in detail how their cost structure work and if you dont want high quality work then dont sign up for it. I will call on them again without hesitation. And Randy is my hero right now.
One of their employees installed a faucet in my fifth wheel. Fast installation, same day, without an issue for months now. Great people!
Had a really bad experience with D&F plumbing service and customer service and would not recommend them. I scheduled an appointment to fix a licking pipe in my laundry room and after 4 hours of delay I decided to cancel it. With no further explanation to why the plumber was 4 hours delayed they agreed to cancel, but both customer service and the manager Kevin were extremely rude over the phone. With so many great services and customer services in Portland, I’d try a different company for sure.
They try to up sell you at every turn. Often they say they are going to come over and don’tThis text system is crazy. Texts come saying they are coming today even though you don’t have anything scheduled. I asked Wayne to call me several times but never did.Since they are union shop I expected more professionalism than I got. I wanted to believe that a union shop operated at a high level of integrity and professionalismEverything is working well.
Randy is the best!! Needed a new bathroom faucet installed and he was professional and so easy to work withIn addition, we were a bit on a “time constraint” as we had a guest in our unit so didn’t want him to be without water for to longRandy to the rescue!! Super nice, easy to work with, got the job completed same dayThank you so much Randy! If we ever need plumbing done again at our condo, we will only ask for you BIA DF Plumbing!! Lisa and Bill
I hesitate, but will review because they asked me to. We paid to have them come on Sunday and quote a gas leak issue. Technician was prompt, friendly, knowledgeable, and provided a $4000 price five times the price of the fellow who came same day at holiday rate and did the same repair. There was also an item quoted the other guy and the gas company said was wrong and dangerous. Never again. D&F non holiday charge would have been 2.5 times the holiday rate we paid. 3.5* for the technician and 0* for the company.
D&F saved the day, week, year, and life of our house. They sent out their (or maybe just my) main man, Joe Hammers and he crushed it. Very personable, knowledgeable, and professional. We had a smell... we couldnt pinpoint, as it came and went, but it started in the basement and then moved up to the first floor. I was convinced in my unprofessional opinion that it had to be coming from the foundation since the stench started in the basement but after evaluating the situation he highly suggested we open a wall up on the main floor... I fought it a bit as again, I was convinced that it was in the basement... Mr. Hammers was correct! The cause: a Grand Canyon crack in the vent pipe starting at the main floor. The waste gas was getting trapped in the wall and then venting down into the basement. What a pro!Saved us a ton of money from having to do a smoke test or tear up the foundation.I highly recommend D&F and their master plumber, Mr. Joe Hammers! What a badarse.
Steve changed our house filter housing to a similar but different filter. He was courteous, VERY professional and obviously experienced, on time and let us know about each step. The whole thing was more expensive than the quote we received from another plumbing business, but we feel much better about D and L, and about Steve particularly. I would recommend him and the company in a heartbeat.
D & F Plumbing sent one of their licensed plumbers, Phil, to replace two toilets in our old house. We had asked Keller Supply, where we bought the toilets, about D & F and they said they would recommend the company.Phil was very professional and spent a little time upfront looking at the general state of our plumbing system, top to bottom. It was clear by the time he finished the overview that he has an expert understanding about all aspects of plumbing. It gave us great confidence. He was able to trouble shoot the issue we had with the downstairs fixture. He came fully prepared and while we had expected to have wet floors, we did not. The work went smoothly and took less time than we expected. Phil wore a mask during the entire time, which we appreciated. We would ask for Phil again for any future plumping need.
Wayne removed the old toilet and installed a new one. He is superman!Waynes work ethic is fabulous and his work quality unmatched. He knows and understands everything about plumbing and communicates it effortlessly. I also appreciate his honesty..
Trevor and Matthew were just awesome; installed the free standing tub. Excellent workmanship my Matthew.. Also very good at follow up appointments, had a question with how the Faucet was installed Trevor showed up on a short notice and resolved the issue.. I would highly recommend D&F for your next plumbing project.Matthew is just amazing, efficient, and just A+.Thanks,Ravi
Terrible business model. I have an extremely quick non urgent plumbing issue I need help with. Customer service agent said he could not provide any range whatsoever of how much the job would cost me, couldnt tell me hourly rates, project fees, nothing. Said I had to pay $120 just to get them to come check out the issue, but that fee could be waived if I authorized same day work after the inspection. But again, he wouldnt tell me any sense whatsoever of how much this work might cost. Its a $50 job at best. Looking at other reviews looks like similar issues. Total lack of transparency in pricing model.
We scheduled them to come out and find a leak in our basement that we assumed was involving our washer. At first the service was fine, the plumber was friendly but happened to misdiagnose the problem. The flooding continued so we called them to come back. For the follow-up appointment, They completely missed their appointment without giving a courtesy call, and called us 2 hours after the window that was given. We set up an appointment for the following Monday, a week later. The day of I called to cancel because of an emergency and there was no record of my appointment. The man on the phone proceeded to tell me it was not their fault that they didnt contact us and for not showing up, or that they had no record of our appointment ... and instead of trying to make it right he just hung up on me.DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!
Ozzy came out to fix the leaky sink/disposal stack and we ended up replacing the whole pipe set in that spot. He was on time, courteous and explained things to me at every step.
They did not perform any service, but still charged me $119. First, there were two mistakes in scheduling the appointment resulting in an additional day delay and multiple phone calls. Second, I have not had a need for a plumber in many years and asked them if they could give me a ballpark figure on how much it would cost to swap out a kitchen faucet and they said they could not give me any rough idea on potential cost, but for $119 they will come out and take a look. The plumber shows up and tells me it would be $726 to swap out a faucet, and $1000 if I used their parts - even though I was clear I had my own faucet. He said the work would take about 45 minutes to complete. The plumber himself thought the price was too high so tried to connect with someone to get it reduced, but they said no. He then went on to say that he noticed another issue with my sink that he would like to provide me a quote to fix, even though I didn’t ask and it wasn’t causing me any problems. This would involve cutting a hole in the wall, doing some other work on the sink, etc and sounded more involved. The cost for this would be $742, basically the same price for swapping out a faucet, for a much more complex job. So I didn’t have them make the change and requested I not be charged $119 due to the schedule mix up, the ridiculous cost to swap out a faucet and not giving me a hint on their base price. I called the office and they gave me the patronizing response, but would not refund the $119. I asked why they couldn’t give me a price as a starting point if they all seem to start at around $700, and he said it was their prerogative to choose not to share that starting price. He then abruptly ended the call.
We loved Joe Hammers. He was very professional and quite helpful. Although he only came out originally to discover the problems and schedule repairs, when he couldnt find a plumber to fix things today, he stayed and did it himself. We were very impressed and our dog loved him.
D&F was able to come out to replace my water heater the same week I called. Joe was super friendly and very communicative in helping us choose the right water heater to fit our needs. Will definitely use them again!
Randy showed up in the time frame expected and stayed in good communication on his way and while on site. He did a very professional and workman like job.D&F was all professional from taking my emergency off hours call, to being very clear about cost, to scheduling an emergency visit and getting to the root cause of the problem.
Randy Sosa sent a text that he was arriving soon and came minutes later. I liked that the text had his picture so I knew who to expect. He noted the problem, told me what it would cost to repair, and quickly and efficiently did the work. Water leak fixed!
Robert was very pleasant and helpful. I really appreciated that he was willing to look at another small issue and give me an estimate although I will wait for the issue to get worse before having it dealt with. He was EARLY TOO!!I loved that!Thank you very much!Jeanne
Robert was terrific! Was on time, solved our problem and gave us good advice as to how to prevent the problem from reoccurring. However, we were shocked by the charge of $680.00 for a simple kitchen snaking! This alone would dissuade us from calling D+F for major plumbing projects planned for later this summer. Scary!
So in the beginning said plumber was very informative which I appreciate, however I had just had hip surgery so I couldn’t really stand there to talk details as I live in an apartment community. The plumber ( I was never given his name nor did he introduce himself) fixed some of the issues but according to my son the water isn’t hot it’s Lukewarm on the hottest setting. So, I leave my house to go run an errand to come back after he had left to see that he had used my personal 450.00 dyson vacuum cleaner to clean up after he had cut the sheet rock which left the wall droppings on the ground and now all in my vacuum. I then call the office to complain about said plumber and Kevin is the manager I spoke with. He said (and yes it’s on the recorded phone conversation the previous day) that he was going to send someone to my house in the AM to pick up my vacuum and clean it. I never heard from anyone, never got a call so after 12:30 I decided to give them a call and that’s when Kevin went off on me after I confronted him. Let me tell you I have never been treated so poorly by a business. I will never allow this company back in my home. They also left holes in my sheet rock and left it that way.
Johnny was knowledgeable and a nice guy. Tough leak to find. Methodical so as not to do too much tear down. Explains things well. I would most definitely use D & F again.
Very mixed experience here. It started off well with the service technician (JOE) showing up and discussing the issue. I explained the problems we had been having, provide him a map of what I had discovered for the waste lines and pointed out where i believed the clog to be originating from. I had taken half a day off of work to be there and help with the process, pulled our toilet for access etc etc. After a couple hours he had broke loose the clog and water started running again. However, the clog had been clearing itself previously and then backing up again which is why the video scoping was the most important part for us. Joe tried several times to get his camera through the pipe but was unsuccessful. He suggested another technician come out later that week with a smaller camera which we agreed to rather than having Joe go under the house to access the clean out. I was told the dispatcher would CALL ME AND SET UP AN APPOINTMENT. Great experience up to this point. The next day I get a phone call in the afternoon from dispatch telling me that the technician was 10 minutes away from arriving. When I explained that nobody had given us a call to set this up and that I at least needed to call my wife to make sure she was even home the dispatch lady was very rude and impatient. She didnt even let me finish suggesting I call my wife to confirm she was there and just HUNG UP THE PHONE while I was talking. I was astonished at the lack of professionalism here. This is basic communication and what should be the simplest of customer service. So I called my wife and she was happened to be there and the new technician showed up with a smaller camera but was still not able to get through the pipe. Less than a week later our laundry room flooded again due to the same area of the clog. I called back the next day to see if someone would be in the area to swing by one last time and I WOULD CRAWL under the house and help guide the camera through the clean out (from an outside vent - a completely straight shot to the clog area that would have taken less than 10 minutes to get the camera to where it needed to be). I was told I would have to pay again for a service call to discuss what would need to happen to remedy the situation. They would not even entertain the fact that I did not receive what I had already paid for - clear the clog and provide video of the section of pipe to verify. Even when I was willing to work with them to make it as time efficient and easy as possible.Technician service was great - especially with Joe.Experience with dispatch - absolute garbage after being hung up on.Quality of work - I would say great - if it was followed up onFollow through and guarantee of results - I wasted my money. Paid $400 and did not receive the stated services that were agreed upon.
Very happy with the work. Completed the job quickly and as requested at a competitive price. Arrived promptly and at the agreed upon time. Treated my 97 year old mother with respect for her concern about her houseAnd a side note, I chose this company (after researching them) because it sponsored my youth baseball team in the late 50s. Full uniforms, just like the pros!! Good memories. Long time for a return on that investment but I was glad to return the favor. I would use again.
We are longtime customers of this company. We have never been disappointed. Joe Hammers is an outstanding professional and we always appreciate the quality of his work.
Joe was very professional through the whole process. He gave me an estimated before starting on the project. He was very considered of the space he worked in. We have hardwood floors, so he taped the work area with plastic, to protect the floor and walls. Joe worked quickly and knowledgeable to find the problem, and fixed it. He was very careful in removing the the plastic covering and all the garbage dry wall, he even went the extra step and wipes the whole area of the floor. Joe came in under the estimate, that was a very much appreciated. It was absolutely great working with Joe.
Our old water heater broke at 9pm at night and semi-flooded our basement. Randy from D&F was out at our house the next day by 10am even though we had never worked with them prior. He quickly assessed the situation and replaced our water heater that same day. He worked super fast, was very helpful with his explanations, and we have running water in the house again! Plus our dog loved him - so bonus points for that :)Thanks, Randy!
Exorbitant pricing. I had a tub with a leak and a sink with a p-trap that needed replacing. They wanted $1700 based on their fixed pricing, and made me pay $100 just for the honor of being given a quote. I found a guy on craigslist that did a good job for 1/3 the price. These guys and 3 mountain have roughly the same model. Fixed scheme pricing, pay-per-estimate to take advantage of people that dont know any better
Trevor was an exemplar of above and beyond customer service. Before getting here he contacted to let me know when he would be arriving. Upon arrival he thoroughly explained the reasoning for the installation and walked through each step as he progressed. Beyond the regulatory estimate work that was given in the estimate he also calibrated all faucet water pressure to optimal efficiency on both hot and cold flow. On top of this he also extended a 10% discount to ensure complete satisfaction for the customer. There was a mix-up with a prior scheduled appointment and Trevors enthusiasm for the customers satisfaction constituted for this. His service is openly conscientious and should be used as a metric for ideal appointments and all around customer service. Thank you Trevor! Your service is very greatly appreciated sir!
Great job by Jason our plumber. He not only fixed it but cleaned up everything and was very professional about the job. Plus, he was very kind to our rowdy pugs. We will definitely be using D&F again and will be requesting Jason.
Excellent service. Experience was of Paramount importance for this unusual repair with knowledge and connections for finding rate parts.
2 hours late. Guy shows up and says he cant do any work cause hell be on Overtime. Then talks for about 20 minutes. Does absolutely no work. We got charged $120. Nope. Never will try to use this business again.
Phil Deuel was excellent. He was very personable and professional. He understood the complexity of the work I needed done and was extremely competent in problem solving. He assured me if there were any problems that might arise to call him directly and he would make sure to correct them.
I needed emergency service for a leak. A certified plumber arrived on Saturday and assessed the problem. The emergency fee was reasonable. I was able to save some money by delaying repairs until Monday. I would recommend this company to my own family.
We needed a vent pipe moved, the lines to the kitchen from the hot water tank and main line replaced and the drain moved about a foot. We called a number of places as it needed to be done quickly. D & F Plumbing said they had a plumber available on Monday to do the work. When Monday came, a man arrived and we reviewed what was needed. He was a pleasant and knowledgeable man which was appreciated. So i went back to work (at our home). About 30 minutes later he said he had everything ready and proceeded to give us the cost of the work. Turns out that he was only preparing an cost sheet, not doing the work. So now i have to push our contractor out a day plus pay about double for the plumbing. As we found another contractor who could do what was needed for half of D&L’s bid, we canceled. They then told me that i would need to pay $119 for the estimate. When i called them, I was quite clear what was needed and that I needed the work completed today. Had they done that, I would have gone ahead and paid for the plumbing to be done today. But to charge twice as much for a straight forward job (plus my cost for not having to put off the contractor) is unreasonable. I never asked for a bid and had I been told that that was what they would do, I would have moved on to find someone to do the work today. (They get two stars because the person who came out was knowledgeable.)
The tech who came to our home was exceptionally courteous. The reason for this review is the pricing. Their estimate was over a thousand dollars for two repairs. The next plumber I called (Colts Plumbing) came out same day and charged $250. D&F also charges a dispatch fee of $119 when most plumbers provide free estimates. This was definitely a burn to me - I figured the work would be a few hundred and the dispatch fee would be taken off that total. Instead, I made a donation. Just sos you know.
Real deal professional service. No wheeling or muddling around. Aaron (our assigned plumber) provided us with a quality, first time D&F experience. And due to that, has cemented this company as my go to provider for any plumbing needs. Thank you Aaron, I appreciate you. And from one VET to another, I thank you for YOUR service.
Randy Sosa was professional, knowledgeable, clean and respectful. He performed the work I requested in a very timely manner. I am very satisfied with the results and will reccomend D & F to people I know who need this service. The answering service who booked the appointment was terrific as well
The entire process for this after-hours work was painless. Our drains suddenly stopped working at 4:30. D&F dispatched Phil Deuel, who arrived 30 minutes earlier than the estimated time. Phil was very thorough in explaining his process and in keeping us informed throughout. Costs for attempted repairs of the problem were clearly shown prior to the work starting. A professional process throughout. Highly recommend.
Jason installed a new natural gas line for my new gas stove (replacing an electric one). All work was done expeditiously and with great skill and in a quite reasonable time frame. The entire work area, including the crawl space was kept well clean and orderly. It was a pleasure to have Jason do the work for me and I would not hesitate to ask him for any future work I may need and to recommend him to others requiring quality plumbing work.
This is now my go to plumbing company! Called them at 7:00 am and they had a plumber out toMe by noon! He came over in a really cool converted bread truck, ask where the problem was( in the crawl space ). right under my house he went, identifying the problem and fixed it right on the spot. Extremely professional and very very skilled craftsmanship from top to bottom. Jason was fantastic. This is a union outfit as well. Just shows what quality training looks like when a problem needs solved. Thank you D and F Plumbing for your help! Will alway use you moving forward!
Matt was knowledgeable and efficient. He came prepared to do the work so there were no delays to go get parts.
Fast service when we had water start coming out of a (finished) basement floor drain and needed immediate help on a Friday evening. Randy was professional and courteous and had our system back on line quickly.
D&Fs business model is a pure scam. The best thing you can say about them is that they will come at a specific time on short notice. It costs $99 for them to show up and quote a price between 4 times and 8 times what any other plumber in town charges to do the same work. Check this out: $800 to set a toilet (a half hour job), $500 to install a lavatory faucet and $609 to install a kitchen faucet. This is labor only. Unbelievable. And the tech said this was a their bulk discount price. What?Dont even bother with your PR response to this review unless you are ready to specifically address your OUTRAGEOUS pricing which in and of itself represents taking advantage of unsuspecting or vulnerable Portlanders.
This company is horrible. Stay away! They are NOT honest! They told me the diagnostic fee is $119 on the phone, then they sent someone to diagnose my water heater. The technician went there and told me the diagnostic fee was $399, but he refused to tell me the details of the issues. When I told him that the customer service told me the diagnostic fee was not the number, then he told me to pay $119. He asked me to get a new water heater which was far more than the market price.
Marc was extremely knowledgeable and was able to locate and fix my dripping shower spout. He also gave me invite to why I’m having pressure and discoloration issues. When it’s time to repipe the house I will be calling D&F and requesting Marc to do the repair. Thank you very much!!
Came to my house and wanted over $5000 to install 50+ feet of a gas line. Then wanted to sell me other services without me asking. All their services are over priced. Would not call them again. And the kicker is, they charge $119.00 for the estimate. They must use gold plated pipes.
Randy was the best! He walked us through every step of the process and provided us with very reasonable solutions for our plumbing issues. We would definitely use D&F plumbing again .
Ozzy did a great job replacing our old garbage disposal. He did a great job explaining what he what he would be doing and made sure everything worked properly before leaving. We had a good experience.
They lost my business. $60 part and charged $560 overall. And they didnt fix the problem. Called them to talk to a manager on Tuesday, didnt get a call back till Friday. I suggest Stan The Hot Water Man. Dont waste your time with this company.
Over the weekend I placed an inquiry with D&F to quote unclogging gutter drainage piping that runs underground. On Monday Trevor came out to inspect the drains. He gave me all the options that were available, including what doing the repairs myself would entail. For each one, he walked me through exactly what they would do in a way that was easy to understand. He was friendly, took my concerns seriously, and was reasonably priced. I will be using D&F from now on.
On June 15th My tile guy called dandf plumbing because we didn’t have our own plumber, our shower was torn down to studs, Joe came in and looked at our shower and told me it would cost $3580.00 to do the job of installing a rough in box and running a small amount if pex pipe, I was shocked at the price but was at their mercy since my shower was already torn up and the project couldn’t move forward until the plumbing was done so against my better judgement I agreed to have him do the job that day, Joe was at my house for about 7 hours, at the end I asked for a senior discount and he took $200.00 off the price, I ended up paying $3380.00, still way out of line, I feel I was taken advantage of considering the situation I was in, on 7/13 Evan came out and installed our shower fixtures, he spent 3 hours at our house, 10 hours total, that’s over $300.00 an hour, I have no complaints with the 2 plumbers, both were curious and professional, my issue is the price I was charged for the work and time spent doing the work with minimal parts on Dandf’s side, I called and tried to get a detailed bill from dandf and they refused to provide me a break down if the charges. I would like to speak wit someone in management regarding this
I called D&F to repair a tub drain. After providing me with a quote for replacement of around $2000, they requested a downpayment, which I paid. They sent 2 plumbers out to perform the job, at which time they were not able to do the job because they discovered a bigger issue that required the whole tub to be replaced. They provided me with 3 more outrageously expensive quotes (5-6k, not including tile work and cost of tub) of which one was not even possible to do due to physical constraints. For all this, they charged me a diagnostic fee of $500 and told me that if I want the work to be done they would charge me the cost of labor on top of that. I am still waiting to be reimbursed for the remainder of my deposit. All in all I would not recommend this company to do anything in your home, as simply having them show up could cost you hundreds of dollars with no work being done.
Picture this: Saturday night, and you have a leak in the kitchen that you cannot get under control. You call multiple emergency plumbers who all tell you that they can be there on Monday. Then you call D & F, and get the friendliest dispatcher who tells you that someone can be there tonight. They are upfront about everything. No surprises. Then your plumber shows up and is able to make everything better! Thank you Joe K for your fast, friendly, and professional service! I will be using D & F for all of my plumbing needs!
TL;DR - I second Jasons review - very very expensive, and you dont necessarily get what you pay for. Just because they are way more expensive doesnt mean they are going to do a better job.-----I never leave bad reviews but I feel like D&F took me for a ride which bums me out as I went with them because they say they are the plumbers you can trust and they will treat you like family AND it says on here they are a women led company.I needed a plumber because my bathroom sink faucet had lost some water pressure and dribbled for a bit after I turned it off. I dont know how to fix anything, so I wanted a pro to come in and just take care of it. The plumber who came out was very friendly and nice and offered me three options as possible solutions: clean the water supply lines for ~$300, replace the water supply lines for ~$400, or replace the faucet for ~$800. I was really surprised at these prices, but I trusted them, so I moved forward. I didnt know how to pick between the options so went with the middle of the road option. He was at my apartment for less than an hour, but during that time the water in the building was temporarily shut off (unrelated) so he was unable to test his work. I stupidly signed the iPad thinking I was just signing a receipt for the ~$400 I had agreed to, but what I was signing said I was happy with all the work performed. When the water in my building turned back on, I found that my issue was not fixed at all. AT ALL. For $400!!!!! For 1 hour!!!!! :(So I took the problem in my own hands, googled the symptoms, and the first suggestion was to clean the aerator or the aerator insert. This is so easy to do they dont even need video tutorials. I cleaned the aerator by soaking it in vinegar for an hour and putting it back in and it fixed the entire problem. Yes, I am stupid for not googling this before I hired a plumber - but again - I called D&F because I really believed I could trust them!I called back to see if I could possibly get a partial refund and the manager lectured me about how their plumbers have 6 years of education and then compared them to doctors, so I guess I will be filing a malpractice lawsuit LOL. Just kidding.
Appreciated the emergency same day visit at 8 pm. As always, a very professional quality experience.
Great, they are absolutely great with their professional attitude and the quality of their work. You might find their pricing expensive but they are dependable and can have confidence the work will be done right. Trevor and his team did an amazing job.
I call the number and ask if there’s any way we can make an emergency appointment. I told the lady if there’s no way we can get it done today just let me know now, because we’ve got water blasting out the pipes in our bathroom. She says she’ll call me back once she gets in touch with an employee on call and in the middle of responding to her she hangs up in my face. We never got a call back and thankfully ended up fixing it ourselves.
Easy to schedule, very professional. The plumber was quick and efficient. Everything was great. I also like that they’re completely paperless
A little delayed, but once here got down to work evaluating the issue and determining the best resolution. Replaced three outside hose bibs in a couple of hours. Steve was great, explained the problem and the alternatives for fixing. No muss no fuss.
Easy to work with, great cost check-ins. Scheduling was a breeze, and they gave me a heads up about the base charge on the phone. Technician was able to arrive a little before the appointment, and contacted me to confirm that was ok.Trevor (my technician) in particular was kind, easy to talk with, provided a lot of knowledge to me as a homeowner, and was clear about what the charges would be before beginning the actual work. I would hire this team again (and Id request Trevor if hes available).
Ozzy did a fine job. I was extremely pleased. He was friendly and professional. He took the time needed to do a good job. I would use D &F again.
Excellent service. Ozzy was great and worked long hour to get our plumbing issued resolved in one day. Also the first plumber they set out, Robert to find out what we needed was very good and understood exactly what we needed to remedy the situation. Great company
For a plumbing issue it was a good experience. The women that answered the phone was friendly and provided sympathy. We were helped the same day. Ozzy was great. I would definitely recommend D & F Plumbing. Ask for Ozzy!
Talk about OUTRAGIOUS pricing. I had a simple job. Literally disconnecting an old sink/garbage disposal and then coming back 2 days later to reconnect. They didnt even have to put the sink in. Just reconnect. Nothing weird, nothing special. I have everything on hand. They quoted me $3800!! I was in such shock I couldnt believe it! It might (at most) be a 3 hour job in total. What a waste of the $150 I had to pay for them to come to my house and tell me that. For the record the tech was a very nice guy. Pricing isnt up to him so its not his fault. Look elsewhere people! Dont make the same mistake I did!!Update: I just wanted to let you guys know that Piece of Mind Plumbing did the same exact job for $600 and did a wonderful job. Do yourself a favor and call them!
Very helpful, polite & early to our appt. Felt confident in his abilities, would call them again.
WARNING - RIP OFF!!! DO NOT USE!!!I called D&F plumbing to get a broken sink drain plug and toilet bowl that wasnt filling properly fixed in my condo. I explained in detail the issues and what fixtures were used and they said they were very familiar with my building. The plumber that showed up said he had never been in the building, looked at the issues for 5 minutes, and recommended replacing everything for over $1,000 which I declined. This felt very predatory and like they were trying to price gouge me.I immediately called another plumber and they came out immediately and fixed the drain plug and toilet in less than an hour for $170.D&F then charged my credit card for their service fee of $119, which I disputed with my credit card company and won since no services were performed.Fast forward 4 months later and D&Fs AR team has been harassing me stating that they are going to send me to collections if I dont pay. Needless to say I dont want to ruin my credit so after being harassed and pressured I went ahead and called to pay. After giving the AR person my credit card number I was told that I was also going to be charged a penalty for making a dispute with my credit card company. Extremely predatory.I have submitted a complaint to the BBB and will update this review based on the outcome to protect people considering using D&F in the future.
