The food was great. Amount of lobster in the lobster roll was just enough. I wish there was more crab cake in the crab cake eggs benedict. The taste of everything was very good. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere, inside and on the patio.

Came from the mid Atlantic for vacation and set out to find the best lobster in Portland. Found it! Was disappointed in several other restaurants in town and almost ordered something different on out last night. BAM ! Stuff with more lobster. Scallops, and shrimp. It was amazing-cooked perfectly, and sweet and moist. Highly recommend. My daughter had salmon grilled and loved it.

What a great place! Loved the view, the hospitality was top, the food was amazing and the wine list surprised me. We ordered the Gloria Ferrer Sonoma Brut, Oysters, Mussels, Fried Haddock and of course Clam Chowder and we loved everything. The servers were very friendly and accommodating. They accommodated our request in within 20 minutes. Definitely a good traditional spot that never disappoints.

Awesome seafood by the ocean!! Oysters were fresh, chowder was rich and traditionally tasty, haddock was crispy, flakey, and smooth tasting.

I don’t know how this place has only 4 stars because it was the best meal and dining experience of our entire trip (and we did them all - Central Provisions, Fore Street, Hot Suppa...)! The staff were extremely friendly and professional, the bloody marys came with lobster tails, the food was fresh and hot, and the patio is covered and overlooking the docks. What more could you ask for?If this is how they deliver every day, then you had better hurry up and check this place out before you need a reservation 3 months in advance! This hidden gem won’t be so accessible for very long.

Food was great. The server Alex we had was down to earth and very polite, and was very professional in the way he conducted himself. Will be coming back to try more items on the menu.

Good lobster rolls but a huge tourist ripoff. I understand market price and that lobsters are dear right now, but $34?? Right next door a slightly more casual place had rolls for $21. Service was good, nice environment, outdoor tales, but gimme a break. I dont like getting ripped off.

The food is fairly from my experience as a seafood lover. The wait is not so long during this period. Drove from Boston to Maine just to try their special Lobster dish. Not as great as what I was looking for a plate that cost $58-$60. The oysters are a little pricey since its not so fresh and tasty as I was hoping for. The only good thing is their seating views from the top are beautiful and very romantic during sunset.

The muscles appetizer was AMAZING! We also had the Noreaster lobster roll,It was amazing and full of Lobster meat! The view outside is so nice! I will definitely be going back!!!

On 9/24 we had a reservation for our 5 year anniversary dinner. We are from WI and didn’t know what to expect, just wanted to have a great time together. Upon arrival the hostess was nice, sat us at a table next to the bar, which wasn’t what I had requested but we went with it and it ended up being better we think, than sitting at some of the other tables with people almost on top of you. Our server was Jeff. He was running the bar and also taking our orders. He did a great job managing both! My wife ordered the baked stuffed haddock and I ordered the ribeye. Our food came out together but I was brought a filet mignon. Both are great cuts of steak but I wanted the ribeye. A lady walked by, her name is Jillian. We only stopped her because she was right there and Jeff was tied up at the bar. She confirmed that I received the wrong steak and offered a salad or soup or something while the ribeye was cooked so we could eat together. I declined and just said I’d wait but she made us a deal to keep the filet (as I’m sure no one else could be served it) and the sides as well. A few minutes later the ribeye came out and my wife and I were able to eat our dinner together. Both meals were fantastic! This is in no way a bash on them but one of the biggest compliments and greatest experiences we’ve had while out for dinner! Also, come to find out it was Jeff’s first day of work and he was offering the perfect wines to pair with seafood and steaks and such and it was just a great experience all around! Huge shoutout to Jillian, Jeff, the Chef and all workers that night at Boones! Thank you for making our anniversary dinner great!

We had eight people for lunch. It was busy, but our server Elena? was awesome. Our cocktails, appetizers and meals came out in a very timely manner. The food was excellent! We highly recommend Boone’s.

Had my rehearsal dinner there. Accommodated 37 guests. Food was delicious. Loree was on it and the GM carried my bridesmaids dress to the ferry. Thank you for making it a blast!

We were pretty quick in and out of here. Grabbed happy hour oysters and a beer. Both were excellent and the wait staff was very accommodating. We had a two year old running around, you see.

We bought a lobster roll from the shack out front and it was just ok. It needed more seasoning. We did have better rolls during our stay at other spots. The woman serving us though was so friendly.

I love the atmosphere n we sat at the Bar looking over the deck. Cozy relaxing bar area. Super Friendly n Nice Bartender. Other patrons were also welcoming. We ordered a glass of Wine n were able to sample to ensure the correct selection. We also had the Lobster Fritters $16... Yum with a great dipping sauce. Prices are reasonable, atmosphere is comfy ... All on the Waterfront in the Old Port.

We went for a late lunch and were seated right away, on the upper deck over the wharf. Service and food were very good!

We saw this restaurant featured on a show called New England Boating and we put in on our list to try. My husband brought me here in my 50th birthday and it did not disappoint! Nick, the chef, made our baked stuffed lobsters to perfection It was the best lobster I have ever had. Thank you Boones! We will be back!

I had incredible stuffed lobster! It was a ton of delicious mouth watering food! I spent over $100, but it was worth every penny! Our server was also very attentive, hard working, and friendly!!

It is a good thing we had a bad experience just trying to get into a place to eat, because we were told about Boones and it was a great experience.The hostess was very friendly and sat us quickly. Prascilla (sorry if I spelled that wrong) was our waitress and was awesome. She kept checking on us.Food was good. Other customers were also tourists and friendly so visiting with the next table was a nice addition.I would highly recommend Boones!!!

I wanted to like this place. It’s on the water with nice staff and a cozy interior with wood fireplace. My friend and I were passing by and stopped here on a Sunday evening for happy hour. Dollar oysters are great. Beer selection was good. There were 5 items on the happy hour menu and we ordered all of them. We were later told the mussel’s were sold out. Then told the calamari was sold out. I guess they are closed Monday and Tuesday so they didn’t order fish. We ordered a pizza instead. After an hour we finally got our pizza since the pizza guy wasn’t there. The pizza was under cooked. They bought us a round but after the almost two hours there with little progress in quality, we left unsatisfied and hungry.

Right on the waterfront with a nice selection of seafood. The Cilantro Lime Linguine with Shrimp was delicious.

We were on vacation loved Portland Maine. If you love lobster 🦞 and nice people you must go. Phenomenal lobster Boone’s was delicious 🤤 if my lobster not from New England please don’t bother. Our waitress Lindsey was a sweetheart and cocktails are on point. Did I mention everything is fresh & homemade mouthwatering. Can’t wait to return.

I really dont write reviews to complain about places. A restaurant has to go out of its way to ruin my experience. My brother and I went here last night because I was craving mussels. We figured it would be packed, and it was a very busy night for a Tuesday, but the host welcomed us in as if we were family. The waiter was so sweet and attentive (even though it was busy). The atmosphere was terrific and the food!! My brother got the swordfish and I got the Seafood Newburgh, and we both loved our meals. We ordered a cocktail before the mussels and the drinks were delicious. This place knows what its doing. They know how to treat people, and their food is amazing. I didnt find the prices to be too high, but I have this saying, If the food is THAT good, its worth the money. I will be going back to this place for sure!!

Great service. They are known for baked stuffed lobster. Well we found out why. It did not disappoint. It was full of lobster and shrimp and scallops. The regular lobster dinner was very good. Even the ribeye was delish. Very flavorful. Loved the risotto too. Very pricey meal but we knew that going in. Worth it!

I would not recommend Boone’s. Starting soon after we got there, I was served my drink but not my boyfriend. When our clam chowder came, the waitress had no idea he still didn’t have his drink. It was freezing on the lower deck ( barely a view of the water) so we moved inside. There we were served our oysters. The ice melted all over the table, and dripped all over me. My jacket was soaked. It was downhill from there. After waiting more than 30 minutes after the oysters our waitress brought us OUR CHECK, to her surprise we still hadn’t had our dinners. I had a great view of the serving area, where I had been watching while waiting for our dinner. (We were wondering why tables that came in after ours were already eating their dinner.) I watched her run over, where they all scrambled. Then I am served a meal which had been sitting on top of a station for quite awhile, I had noticed no one was picking that plate up. When she served it to me, I said that has been sitting for at least 10-15 minutes and she claimed it hadn’t. Sure enough, my food was cold. My boyfriend’s dinner was cold as well. Besides an apology of, “you can see how busy we are”, nothing was done to make our experience better. The food wasn’t great either. A stop to remember, as it took a couple hours in total, and we still had a 5 hour trip. Don’t waste your time!

We had wonderful lobster rolls served warm. Our friend enjoyed his twin crabcakes. A great cocktail is the mister baxter. Well worth the price. Staff was pleasant and ambiance very nice....old school dock side dining. Would love to return when the weather is chilly and fire in fireplace.

We shared a lobster mac and cheese, though there was barely anything cheesy a d what sauce there was lingered watery at the bottom of the dish.We each had a pop over with blueberry jam. Those were very good. We both selected drinks from the cocktail menu, I tried the Corona something or other (no beer) and didnt care for it. My wife tried a proseco and elderberry liqueur drink that she didnt care for either.

Food was over priced for what it was. Lobster Mac and Cheese had almost no lobster. The lobster roll, also very little lobster. We noticed after we were home they added a gratuity to the bill, there were 5 of us so that was strange normally it’s parties of 6 or more if not 8 or more. They never mentioned they added the tip it was not circled or pointed out on the receipt so we tipped as we normally would. This has been by far our worst meal and experience since getting to Portland … suggestion … Porthole right next door so much cheaper and way better food and service!!

Great Lobsters. We had Lobster roll with some mussel and everything was delicious. The restaurant is also dogs friendly for the first floor patio.

Good was good but overpriced. Wait staff is pleasant. However when my elderly father-in-law had a medical concern and asked to borrow a chair to sit outside the OWNER herself drove past and yelled at the top if her lungs I own that chair and you cant sit in it. She stated this was because he was because he had on a hat that was political and she did not like it. She has ruined all of Portland for us.

Great size portions and nice location. However, the all fried sea food platter is overly hyped. Their calamari, scallops and shrimps are fried to the point you can’t distinguish what you are eating. I had a stomachache after eating it.

The food was great and we loved the restaurant. The hostess was very sweet but the reason for the two stars is because of our waiter. Our waiter was Ryan and I should have asked to sit in another section. I was with my sister who has a severe allergy to zucchini. She ordered the hanger steak and the only veggies that came with the meal was spinach. When the plate was delivered there was zucchini on part of the steak. I told her it was no big deal to send it back because if she knew there would be zucchini then she would not have ordered.Ryan was a complete jackass when she told him about her allergy and when she asked him to have the kitchen make a new steak. He said, Are you serious? Then snatched the plate from her. Dont work in food service Ryan if you are going to have such a negative reaction to something people cannot control.

Great service and good waterfront views. The menu seems a little limited compared to the rest of the Old Port. We were hoping to stop by just for drinks, but were asked to order food as well. This would have been fine, but the appetizers were not easily shareable.

I really want to be able to leave a good review because our server was amazing and the food was pretty good, but my interaction with the obviously intoxicated “owner” really spoiled the night. Please go support another business.

Fried clams and the clam chowder were very good. My father had the lobster Newburg that he loved but the portion was not worth the price at all. I had the tequila lime shrimp linguine that was good but only got 4 shrimp that were boiled not grilled.

From the moment I walked in, I knew this place was special. The sweet hostess greeted me and was accomodating. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and provided excellent service. I met the owner and she was lovely. The food was incredible. Absolutely fantastic, how many stars can I give? Every bite was decadent. The atmosphere here is fabulous, inside and out. My new favorite restaurant in Portland. Its been here forever- my 1st opportunity to come and now I will come again and again. Great date spot, too, BTW. 1st date or 50th anniversary, birthday or just because... this place is wonderful.

Excellent brunch. Was quoted 1.5 hour wait for a table but I was seated at the bar immediately. Lobster Benedict was amazing. I found the clam chowder a little on the floury side but it was still good.

Only reason this isn’t a one star is because the waitress was very nice and the food was good. 1.5 stars would be more fitting but I don’t think that’s an option. Went here for a birthday dinner for my friend based on a recommendation. Weren’t treated very well by the hostess initially which was not a great note to start on. Maybe she was having a bad day who knows, but bottom line is you don’t want to start off your experience with someone who isn’t pleasant. We waited close to two hours for our food (which was good). It was just a really disappointing experience after being excited about eating here. If the concept you are going for is tourist trap with pretty good food - congrats you nailed it. But if you want people to continue to come in (and spend close to $400), there is tremendous room for improvement. Being a summer resident of the area I can say this was probably my last time going to Boone’s.

I went there yesterday with my husband and 3 young kids for lunch. We decided to leave the place after 1:30 h. We placed an order at 11 am and At 12:15 we were still waiting . Everyone around us that got seated after us received their food after few minutes of wait . When we asked our waiter why the foodWas taking so long to come, his response was“The burger you ordered is taking more time to be cooked !! If you are not happy about that I can pack your food if you want so you can leave!”Unbelievable!!.We decided to leave and found a new place just next to them with good foods and nice employees.

Had a lovely dinner at Boone’s last night. We came to Maine wanting to eat great seafood and we found it here. Oyster selection was great and the stuffed lobster was delicious. Our server, Paul, greeted us at the door. He gave great descriptions of the oysters and was very attentive with out being intrusive. Definitely recommend.

Every place was either completely booked out or had stopped serving food (really, you stop serving food at 1.30pm on a Sunday..🤔)So, we ended up dropping in to Bonne’s.Service was great and food surprisingly good for a bar/pub. I had crab cakes and probably one of the best Caesar salads I’ve had in a while. We sat inside but they have two outside decks. We will go back and would recommend if you’re looking for a more casual vibe and good food 👍🏻

Impeccable service. Our server knew the best beer and wine pairings, was knowledgeable about the menu and was on the ball. The food was perfection. We had oysters to start which were fantastic. Perfect combination of brine and sweetness. Zero grit or sand in them. My partner had the stuffed lobster which was the best weve had and I had the cold lobster roll. It was a cozy environment with a crackling fireplace and the music was awesome. We will be back next time we are in Portland!

Visited Boones on a limb and it was an overall great experience. The service was excellent and all of the staff were welcoming. A lot of reviews were saying that the food is a bit pricey, however, its because they give you a decent amount of food. My only critique would be that the food wasnt very flavorful. I ordered the lobster mac n cheese. The lobster was cooked to perfection, but the cheese sauce itself needs some adjustment.

Took a friend here for her birthday last week. Made a reservation for 7. When we arrived we were seated in a table in the back by the kitchen. Our server was not knowledgeable or attentive. My friend was very satisfied with her chicken dish, but I was underwhelmed by the stuffed lobster. Probably wouldnt go back when there are so many other places to choose from.

Amazing, from the food to the service!!Second best only to Fishermans Wharf in Lubec, ME. We have road tripped down the coast of Maine this trip and found wonderful diners and out of the way places.But for fresh seafood in Portland, with excellent service try Boones.

Outstanding atmosphere, food, service and drinks. Good craft beer selection and creative mixed drinks. The seafood popover I enjoyed was one of the best seafood dishes I have ever indulged. Outside dining is a perfect Maine coast setting with lots of coastal night life swirling around. This was a true 5 star experience, worth every penny, without completely breaking the bank.

My husband and I were visiting Portland this weekend and we stopped into Boones Fish House and Oyster Room for brunch. The restaurant was beautiful and had amazing views. We ordered the traditional Benedict and the breakfast pizza. I loved the twist on the Benedict using popovers instead of English muffins. It was delicious.The bartender Ethan was a lovely and the assistant manager Jill was attentive and pleasant. She gave us the best recommendations! We will definitely be back!

Food was very bland. I ordered the stuffed lobster and the fishermen platters and I did not enjoy it. I was there with a friend they only gave us one menu to share. They didn’t even greet us and also put us at the worse table with no views whatsoever. My experience was not pleasant. They didn’t even check to see how we as customers were doing or even if the food was good and other people that came way after us got there food before we ever did. The waitress acted like she she did not even to help us. I had to ask to be moved from the table they gave us. I’m not sure if it was because we were black or what the case was was but treated the other customers more pleasantly and we were very offended.

Beautiful venue, delicious food,and excellent service!!The server was very friendly and positive, always with a smile on her face which improved our already great experience!!We were sitting next to that beatiful fireplace,because outside was a little chilly,but inside felt like in heaven!!Nice and warm!!Just the crackling sound of wood in the fireplace,if nothing else,made us feel welcome and like at home.

I can’t even deal with how great the food at this place is! We are visiting from Arkansas. I have eaten at many places in town that were recommended. No one recommended Boones and they should be ashamed. The food here was phenomenal and the service impeccable. We left Luke’s which was recommended over and over to come her because the service was so terrible that we left after drinks. The baked stuffed lobster made me rethink my religion. Is God a lobster? No but damn, he gave Mr Boone Divine intervention with that recipe. Yum!!!!

Nice selection of local oysters, all delicious. Mussels were great and you gotta soak up thr sauce with the bread, and the Bloody Mary with the lobster claw is a must pre-dinner drink. Lovely seafood on the water, awesome service, and nautical decor. It was on the higher end so would recommend if you got spare cash and want to enjoy a nice evening on the water.

Overall experience was great! Server was very nice and knowledgeable about the menu and area. Oysters were fantastic! My wifes stuffed lobster was a little over cooked though. Kinda pricey.

Stuffed lobster was very disappointing. Stuffing was 99% filler with little to no seafood evident. Way overpriced with what was received vs. the menu description. Scallop appetizer was good but could have been more scallops for the small size. We have no desire to return based on this visit.

$33 for a rubbery overcooked lobster roll. Go to the food truck down the street. I give 2 stars when I finished my meal but would never return.
