Tried to get an appointment with my preferred mechanic shop, but they were unavailable before I needed to leave town, so I had to find an alternative. Ive had my eye on First Choice for a couple years, since a tech there told me how to get my 94 Chevy Silverado successfully through DEQ emissions testing. I had been through testing already and failed, so I was looking for a DEQ-certified shop to do tune-ups or tweaks so the truck would pass. I called First Choice to make an appointment, described my situation, and the tech told me, Youre fine~ just drive the truck at highway speeds for 10 or 15 minutes, and take it back in. Youll pass. I did. And it worked.That kind of knowledge and honesty is what kept First Choice top of my mind when I needed an alternate. So I called them, made an appointment for only 3 days later, and delivered my truck for a tuneup and change of cabin air filter. They were done in 2 hours and the bill was only $149 for my 2016 Tundra (5.7L V8).I will be back.

Incredible service!!I can assure you that you will not get rip off. They take their business seriously! I went in for an oil change a few days ago. After the service was done, I asked them if they found any issue on my car. The mechanic told me that I would only need to change the front brake pad in the next couple months (Which I already know, it needs to be replaced). I have been rip off by an auto shop so I honor those that deal their business honestly. This deserve a 5 stars.

Had a wheel bearing that I needed removed from the Hub and they did it first thing right when I got there within 10-15 minutes I was out the door and I was very minimal cost definitely will be back

My 08 dodge charger had my check engine light on so I took it here and I had took it to previous places and I was hesitant taking it here but I saw good reviews so why not, I had the code p0016 and had everything looked at before taking it here, last thing to check was the timing belt which no one wanted to do so before, this shop did check it and it was my timing belt etc included in that. He went ahead and changed it and changed everything included in that p0016 code. Two weeks later my car is up and running and no errors. I will start taking my car here as that arent pricey as dealerships also. I want to thank them and recommend them to everyone.

These guys are incredible. Ive been bringing my Honda Accord to them for 4 years now and had 2 specific experiences that have solidified my loyalty. First, I got my car inspected at the local dealership and was quoted at $1500 to get timing chain replaced. I was gutted, but decided to at least take it to 1st Choice for the actual work. When all was said and done, it came in at $350. And they changed my oil for free. And then last year, my car was having trouble starting and took it in to get looked at. They thought it was the alternator and replaced it for $250, but after the repair was still having trouble. Took it back in and they discovered it was the started and replaced that as well, free of charge! I couldnt believe it and they apologized for the hassle.First class service that always comes in cheaper, quicker and friendlier than any other maintenance place Ive had to deal with. Love these guys.

I am one of those people that are very skeptical about mechanic shops, I know enough to know whether they are telling the truth or not, but I dont have enough time to get the job done.John and his team have always been very straightforward with me, even when they could charge for additional services, theyve always asked first or made recommendations on how to reduce the cost.The work is great A, they are on time, and prices are extremely reasonable for what they do. This is the reason that I take my personal vehicles to them.I wish that they would take box trucks so I could take my work trucks to them as well.

As a 55 year old customer service manager, I can count on 1 hand the times I’ve felt compelled to write a review about services I’ve received. Well, it has happened again; I feel compelled to share my experience at 1st Choice Auto Service.I am somewhat analytical in nature. Before I make a purchase, or go to a company for services, I always try to find reviews about a place of business. I read countless reviews of several local repair shops, and with the exception of 1, whose name will remain secret, were for the most part all positive. I said to myself, one of these companies had to have upset someone; no 1 company pleases everyone. Well, I did find a review of 1st Choice Auto Service that was not 100% positive, which in its self did not surprise, nor bother me. It was the response to the reviewer by 1st Choice that impressed me, and helped make my choice of where to take my car.The owner of 1st Choice responded to an unhappy customer by explaining his business philosophy. They acknowledged that they would not make a living off of 1 repair, but rather by having satisfied customers return for additional services when the need arose. It was their desire to provide excellent service on ever repair, and if you were not satisfied, they would “make it right”. Well, that is precisely my business philosophy, as well. After reading this review, I knew 1st Choice Auto was my first choice.My car needed brakes. I stopped by to talk to John, one of the owners, and asked him what the “worst case scenario” would be on my brakes, even though I realized that without inspection, it would be tough to do. But, John gave me his estimate, which was one I could live with; so I made an appointment for the following day, which was a Saturday.I dropped my car off and was told they’d be done by 10:30-11:00 that morning. After leaving for a while, I returned to the shop about 10:45, and noticed that my car was being lowered from its perched rack. I said, WOW!! It’s done on time. I then went inside to pick it up and, of course, was expecting it to be “the worst case scenario”. But, I was in for a pleasant surprise.John informed me not only was it my rear brakes, not the front as I had thought, but it was not the “worst case scenario”; in fact, it wasn’t that bad at all. Despite the sound of metal on metal, there was no damage done. My brakes were fixed and my oil changed with synthetic oil, all at about half of what the worst case scenario was to cost.1st Choice Auto could have taken advantage of me because I was prepared to pay the much higher repair bill. But, their honesty and integrity prevented them from doing so. And, after driving the car for a week, my brakes work great, and it sure is nice driving down the road without “announcing I’m coming” with the sound of metal on metal screeching.No matter what repair I need, I am now confident that I have found a mechanic that I can trust and rely on to always give me the “real scoop”; no longer do I need to worry about getting ripped off. If you yourself are looking for an honest and reputable auto mechanic, look no further; 1st Choice Auto Service should be your first choice.

I am very suspicious of auto repair shops and asked a bunch of questions before choosing 1st Choice to replace my brakes/rotors. John was very knowledgable, HONEST (another shop told me I had to replace my rear rotors, turns out this was inaccurate), patient, and his team did an excellent job at a very reasonable price.

My nephew found this shop a couple of years ago when he had a problematic Jeep Cherokee. My brother (my nephews dad) and I were impressed by John and the crew - theyre nice, honest, and do excellent work. I took my car in a few months ago, thinking the back brakes needed to be replaced and instead John told me they didnt, they just cleaned out some dust that had got in there and was causing the sound, and sent me on my way with no charge. I recommend this shop to EVERYONE.

1st Choice Auto should be your LAST choice when getting your car worked on.I brought in my Honda CRV into the shop in August to get the clutch master cylinder replaced because my clutch pedal lost pressure, along with an oil change. They ended up replacing the slave cylinder as well (okay, fine). I get the car back and they tell me that I need the clutch replaced. I say fine, Ive never had issues with the clutch, but it does have 200k miles on it. I had the car back no more than a week and the pedal went out again. I have it towed back to their place and they tell me the pedal went out because theres issues with my clutch. I go okay, so I have the clutch replaced by another mechanic (no way am I taking it back to these guys), and about another week later the clutch pedal goes out AGAIN. I have the car towed yet again to 1st Choice and they have the audacity to tell me the pedal went out because of issues with my clutch. I tell them I had the clutch replaced, and they tell me it wasnt replaced because they can tell. After getting my car back from them for the third time, they tell me they wont work on the car anymore until I get the issue with my clutch fixed. About a week later, guess what? The pedal goes out again. I take it to the same mechanic that replaced my clutch and havent had issues my clutch pedal since. And the other mechanic I went to was CHEAPER than 1st Choice. To add insult to injury, remember that oil change I had done? Yeah, they put in over a quart of extra oil that I had to go ahead and remove myself.Dont go to 1st Choice Auto. If they cant get a simple oil change right, they are likely not to get anything right.

These guys have excellent customer service and are clearly knowledgeable mechanics. Autozone sold me a manifold without gaskets and after struggling for days trying to fix it I took it to first choice. They were able to identify the problem and get the car back on the road in under 24 hours. All the work was done fit a great price. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who asked.

Honest mechanics are good to find. He quoted me a certain amount, which I was prepared to pay, and gave the approval to keep going. But then later that day, it turned out he didnt need to do as much work as he thought, so the final price came out to around 1/2 of what he originally quoted. He knew my limitations with this old junker, so he gave me a realistic idea as to what to expect.I told my coworkers about these guys, too.

My puppy has a taste for seat-belts. This is the 3rd time hes eaten through out front belts and they were able to get the part and get us in faster than even out dealership! 1st choice has been there for us every time! Im now 8 months pregnant and knowing that I can count on them is a huge relief!

Okay I have been hesitate for so long about finding a auto repair shop. Trust is a big thing to me. Its hard to spot honest people who wont try to get over on me especially because Im a woman.I decided to FINALLY give someone a chance. I tried 1st Choice, its close to my home and because of the REVIEWS. I went in and explained my problem. They had a play area for my kids, and plenty of room for me to sit and watch the Olympics.I didnt catch the men names but one guy came and told me he drove my car and automatically knew what was wrong.... the transmission!!! 😲 My stomach dropped to the floor. He did refer me to another local shop Tigard Transmissions. Ken sounds nice, hopefully it works out.I will definitely be back because on top of everything I said how much and the guy that helped me said NOTHING. Anybody else would have tried to get something out of me.1st Choice you have a new customer.

1st Choice Auto Service provides exceptional service. We take both our cars there. John replaced bulbs in the rear lights on one of our cars for free. It was a difficult job as the trunk on the car would not open. The bulbs had to be replaced from the inside. We know it was difficult and we really appreciate it!

I have been dealing with John (owner) and Brandon (Asst Manager) at First Choice for years.Moving to a new city can be daunting, you have to find reputable businesses to handle cars, house, etc.Our first experience here in Portland with another business was a major mistake, they did not properly identify a failing catalytic converter when replacing a muffler, so when the CC went bad a week later, needless to say I was a little peeved. I wish I had found John and 1st Choice before this other business. John over the past 8 years has never been anything but awesome. They take care of their customers, and are as honest a business as you can find.Case in point, several years ago, my 2002 Acura TL Type S was showing an error code readout indicating that the top half of my engine was having an oil problem, and the fix would be replacing the entire top half of the cars engine. I was preparing to find a new car, try to sell my existing car, etc, but Johns team discovered it was in fact, a simple $4 sensor. He didnt even bother charging me.Heres the thing, John could have easily said yea, we need to replace your engine, its going to be $2000, and pocketed money without ever actually doing the work, there are businesses that I know would do something dishonest like that.I honestly am grateful that I found them within 2 years of moving here from Ohio, they are all wonderful, their techs are always polite when I stop in. I cannot stress enough how great a company they are...

We have been going here for this last year. John is always truthful and will tell you what needs to be fixed and what doesnt need to be fixed. We recently had our timing belt and water pump changed. I brought it in again because I heard some belt noise and he replaced the AC belt for free! I cant speak more highly of this place. They are great at repairs and are always upfront about cost and are quick to get the job done.

I just had the water pump replaced on my 1991 Volvo 940, knowing that I could make one call to First Choice and receive a reasonable quote - And sure enough it was less than both the fair market range indicated online and the independent Volvo shop. Furthermore, the repair was completed a day earlier than expected. They have even been so kind as to waive a charge or two for small fixes in the past. And I have yet to find a cleaner, more well-kept repair facility and waiting area. I think this is one if the best mechanic places I have ever seen. These people are amazing. I took my car to Wilsonville Chevy dealership and they charged me $600 to fix my car. I drove home and my car broke down again. I called them back and they sad my car was just old. I took my car to First Choice auto next day and they fix it for $30. It was 2 years ago. I love this place. Take your car there.

My husband and I have been loyal customers to First Choice Auto for over two years now. The first appointment I had with them was for an oil change due to a special they were running. Because of the high level of service and the fact that no upselling was involved in that procedure, we have now taken our car there almost exclusively to have regular maintenance performed. I have never felt pressured to have any unnecessary repairs or services completed on my car and if something appears to be out of line with the car, we try and always take it here first for their professional opinion.

I was taking my car to a place in Multnomah Village, where I got a call from them after a routine oil change that my brakes were down to the metal and needed to replaced right away. I thought the price was too high, so I shopped around. I had decided on 1st Choice and brought the car to them. I got a call from John telling me that there was still 40% left on the rear brakes, so no need to fix them at this time. I was impressed, so I brought the car back when it had problems starting. They took the time to properly diagnose and gave me a reasonable estimate on a good quality starter. I highly recommend these guys.

I got a coupon in the mail so I decided to call them about servicing my rear drum brakes. Their price was already a lot lower than the competitor before the coupon! They were very friendly and had my vehicle available for pickup within 2 hours of dropping it off on a Saturday. I will definitely contact them when it comes time for other servicing!

Guys are on point legit mechanics fairly priced exceptional service

This is the 3rd time I have had work done to my car there and being someone who is skeptical of mechanics and shops trying to oversell and do unnecessary work I can tell you first hand this is NOT that type of shop. John the Service Manager is a straight shooter and always lays out what really needs to be done and what can wait. This last time my car had a hole in the radiator which I suspected seeing a wet spot in the radiator looking through the front grill, a BAD left rear hub/bearing assembly and 2 bad front struts. When he called to give me the assessment we discussed what could wait and what needed fixing right away. I let him know that I would like him to go ahead and do all of the work now as I might not have the money later. Being a repeat customer he gave me an excellent deal as well as working quickly to get the car fixed in the small window of time I informed I had to get it fixed. I trust this shop and John 100% to deal me straight and get the job done right and in a timely manner. Thanks again John!

Cant say enough about how good John and his team have been. Example: I once had a puzzling problem that was intermittent. They thought they had fixed it but it recurred. John then took the car and drove it himself over a weekend until he was sure he had found and fixed the problem--and he did that without charging me further. Theyve been our mechanics for both cars for 5 years now, and were so thankful to have found them.
