As someone who is inherently very distrustful of auto shops, I appreciated all of the information provided and her transparency. Been going here for years. Medium in terms of pricing but the team there will support the hell out of thier work. They are honest and will be up front if there is a cheaper option or of work is not immediately necessary.

I had a few things done here. Break bleed, rear break drum change, and rear headlight replacement. Heather was awesome and went over details of the job, which was helpful because I thought both front breaks needed replacement, but she didnt fix what wasnt broken, so I appreciated the honesty. All in all a really great experience for a novice like myself. If you want an honest mechanic with skills, this is the place to go.

Im not the best at routine service but I always change the oil on time and use full-synthetic. Pleased with service to my old 2012 Mazda3. Rain or shine, I carry my dogs to exercise and my car probably smells like it. I was happy not to get negative comments from the staff about it. They did the brakes, front and back, the power steering belt, routine transmission and radiator service, and tires. Everything put back together right. The Continental ExtremeContact Sports feel so sticky and perfect for summer. I feel like I took off some $30 Payless dress shoes and put on a pair of Brooks running shoes! The car feels so solid on the road and the brakes work perfectly. Friendly people, prompt, and good communication. Look for the coupon on their webpage to save a few dollars. Parking can be tricky at this location but the quality-to-price ratio is worth it.

Unbelievable service! This is what a succesful small business in Portland looks like. While waiting for my car to get done, I spoke to Heather (who is super awesome by the way). I found out that they are a family owned business for over 20 Years in Portland. They were honest, understanding and affordable. I can see why their businesses sustained for this many years.

I have come here for years. I dont know alot about cars. These folks are honest and will let you know if something really needs to be done or not. Example.. Another tire place told me I had run flats. That I needed a new tire. Very expensive. Affordable said..these are not run flats its stuff like that. The other big tire chain would have ripped me off.

Ordered tires. Went to pick em up and was told we are closed. Order them online. So I will. UPDATE-was contacted by Jas. They wanted to GIVE me a set of tires for the confusion and inconvenience. Weve been a customer for 12+ years, love the service we receive every time. Recently replaced tires on our Jeep Gran Cherokee. Several options where recommended. I chose Continental A/T very happy with the handling in any type of weather. Scott, Heather and the rest of the crew are always very informative and courteous and get me on my way in record time.

They provided incorrect information to me twice about resetting a honda CRV TPMS. Either they dont want to do it, or they dont know how. Both times the shop has said just drive it a while, and itll fix itself. Theyve lost my trust and my business.

The fine folks and the work they do deserve 10 stars! Ive been coming here for 6 years and theyve always offer exceptional service, workmanship, and honor. Ive meant to write this review for a while, but recently events with my 03 4runner have prompted me to finally express my respect for the shop. A fried actuator did a number on not just the coils but how the coils are grounded. Which, TBH, is a little beyond me. But the coils kept failing and I wasnt charged for the work to replace them or the parts. And they advocated on my behalf with suppliers.

Great place! Got my tires here and recently went in for a rotation. However, the shop workers werent wearing masks and are driving cars in/out without masks... Glad I had lysol in the trunk.Update: I was on a short road trip and the tpms light came on. It looks like they over-inflated all tires by 4-5 psi... I wouldnt have known without the sensor.Update #2: I came back six months later for another free rotation and the same issue occurred. One of my tires was at 39 psi when the recommended psi is 33. I checked in the parking lot this time due to my previous experience and asked them to check and resolve; which they did promptly.

I have an older car and needed some significant repairs done. I was having to make a big decision on what the future of the car was going to be.Scott called me back after the initial contact to talk with me and helped me work through the decision as well as prioritizing what work should be done and what would make most sense given my situation. After several years of a constant battle and bullying from a big tire chain I decide to take my business to Affordable Tire & Brake. Not only did they exceed my expectations with their customer service, it only took them maybe 45 min to mount, balance and install 4 new tires. Their staff is very friendly and mindful of my time. Hands down will never go back to the big box tire chain stores again! Thank you Affordable Tire and Brake!

EDIT: May 2021. I dont like when mechanics lie to me. I took it in for $1600 in suspension work. They told me that I also needed the front brakes replaced that I had replaced the year before with carbon fiber pads and drilled rotors. Also told me I needed to spend another $750 to replace a leaking valve cover gasket. Took it to Bradshaws on Fremont. They confirmed both brakes and gasket were good. These people lied through their teeth to me because apparently my $1600 in suspension work wasnt a big enough bill for them. They wont ever get another cent of my money..

No nonsense shop. Was shopping around for tires after one of my front tires caught a nail in an un-patchable location. Came in mid-afternoon without an appointment, was helped very quickly. Dropped off the car around 3, was out the door just before close. Total cost came in right in line with the quote, and was $100 less than a set of comparable tires from a shop across the river in Vancouver. Very impressed with the service provided!

They have my business for life nowI had a slow leak in one of my tires and brought it in to them to take a look at. They brought the car in right away and as I suspected, there was a nail in the tire. They fixed it and aired up all of my other tires to the proper pressure and I was in and out in less than an hour. And THEY DIDNT CHARGE ME FOR IT. Im getting my next set of tires here.As a bonus, its only a couple of blocks away from two outstanding cart pods: Hawthorne Asylum and Cartopia. Best waiting room ever.

I have taken my car here for years. They always get the work done on time and do whats needed to be done. They are flexible enough to do urgent evaluations on potential problems. On my last visit they noticed a looming, big ticket problem, but after some review of the service history of the car they said it would be perfectly safe to delay the repair for a few years. They could have just recommended going ahead with this very expensive job.

Honest and reasonably priced. Scott and Kayla are always so helpful, and everyone else does a great job getting things taken care of. Its never fun doing car maintenance, but I always feel great after the work they do.

Affordable is at the top of my list when it comes to my vehicle. I didnt settle for just ok bringing up my kids. I dont settle for health care for my fur baby, and I wont for my car. Friendly, honest, very polite, very clean shop, kept me informed the whole time with what was going on, and got my car back sooner than expected. They make you feel like family or at the least very close friends. And very AFFORDABLE. I will never go anyplace else.

Not sure this place even needs more five star reviews, and I NEVER leave reviews- but here I am. This was my 4th time coming in and the first time they’ve even charged me (had flat tires before). As a young, single female, it’s super scary going to an auto shop. I could be up-charged and lied to so easily, I’m not very car savvy. But I TRUST these people. Family oriented/owned, honest, reasonable, kind, and easy to understand. Prices were better than 4 other places I called. I don’t think I have any reason to go anywhere else.

I usually dont eat at fast food establishments, but I was pleasantly surprised. Good food when on the road. The best part was the young lady who took my order. She was awesome! Professional, kind, and totally hot! She had no problem giving me water for my dog. A+

As well, during the stages of diagnostics and insurance evaluation, they guided the process along nicely. I would do business with them again.

Stellar service on super short notice before a holiday weekend.I managed to run over a rusty razor blade in SE Portland on a Friday afternoon before Memorial Day (today), and the folks at Affordable Tire had it patched and roadworthy less than an hour after I dropped it off. On top of that, I got really busy at work after dropping off my car, and their staff was diligent in making sure Id be able to come pick up the car before they closed for the holiday weekend.To top it all off, when I finally made it in to pick up my car, they didnt charge me! I know free tire patching isnt unheard of, but combined with the fantastic service, this is an easy 5 star rating and I know where Ill take my business for the inevitable future tire replacements.

Ive been going to Affordable Break and Tire for almost four years and they are amazing. Always accommodating and willing to work on quick turnarounds. They always do a great job when I have my cars serviced there and explain things well when I have questions.

They’re very helpful and really want to get you the best for you and your car. I took my car in to get my rear drum brakes replaced. They asked I drop it off in the morning and it’ll be ready by days end, with a call after they do the inspection. At 3 pm I got a call saying they had a super busy day and were having trouble getting my car in for an initial inspection and asked if I could leave the car overnight. I wouldn’t have minded if I didn’t have work that night (I work overnights) and I asked her if would it be okay if I just bring the car back in the morning. She said ‘I’ll just see if we can get someone on it right now!’About an hour later, the mechanic calls and says my car is in good shape, definitely needs the back brakes replaced and suggested I also do the front. As they’re disc brakes I can do those myself so I declined and he was more than happy to oblige. No up-selling, no pushing. He also asked if I could leave it overnight and I said again I have work but perhaps we can just start again tomorrow, in which case if necessary I can leave it overnight as I don’t have work. He had to check to see if he could get the parts and he could! So he said he’ll get right on it and it should be ready by closing.When I picked up, they were clearly still running around super busy finishing up people’s cars and while I could see it was frantic, everyone was really professional and really nice.I’m super impressed a shop would try this hard to work around my schedule and I’m very grateful! I will come back and recommend. Thank you so much!

Best customer service, 5 stars!So, I got a flat tire on Friday night. The bad kind where you know its flat, yet you keep driving because theres no place to pull over. Low and behold, I get to where Im going and find the flat. Sigh. So, I changed the tire and drove the car back across town to Affordable Tire & Brake where I always take it.To my great surprise, they have a key drop where I can leave them a note along with my key. Great, that means I dont have to come back on Monday to give them the key. Even better, I get to explain my situation.Fast forward to Monday morning, I call to check in to make sure they got my key. Not only did they get the key and my car, but theyve already put on a new tire! I can come get it anytime! Holy cow!Upon getting to Affordable Tire & Brake to pick up my car, I find out that the tire was actually still under warrantee. Yup. They only charge me $34 including labor! How incredible is that!I am so happy with the job they did and how convenient it was for me. Im going to always take my car, this one and every one I ever have, to Affordable Tire & Brake!

On Saturday I needed to replace one tire and wanted it to be the same brand and make as the other 3 I had called every place In town and no one had it and said that i would have to wait 7 days for shipping. I called this place as a last resort and spoke with heather she was able to find me the tire and get it shipped to their location in about an hour. On my way to the shop heather called me to let me know the tire arrived. When I got there I dropped the car off and walked 4 blocks down the street to eat at some food carts. When I came back they had my car ready for me. These guys work fast and they got the hook ups! I will be coming back here for my next set of tires

We have been taking our cars here for 10+ years and have never been disappointed. They are extremely honest, and I appreciate that they are fairly conservative with fixes. (E.g. the breaks are a little low, lets look at replacing them in the next 6 months.) Would recommend 100% .

I am a long time customer and cant imagine taking my auto anywhere else! The front office staff is knowledgeable, professional, friendly and will explain car talk that I dont understand! Long story short they swindle my boyfriend and I into a new set of brakes, rotors and all. They stated it was because the car had been driven in The Midwest, and the salt had wore them down. In truth the car spent a total of 2 months (October and November) of its life in the Midwest and the rest in Portland(2 years). However, the car had Midwest license plates. I explained all this to them and even collected my old rotors to have another mechanic look at them. The other mechanic told me I still had at least 25,000 miles left in them. Affordable conveniently threw away the brake pads. I raised my concern with them and they point blank said “this what happens when you live in the Midwest.” Even though I stated I lived in Portland.They did not offer and reconciliation or fix. Take your money elsewhere.

Had Affordable check out the tires before making any repair and was told I was right, it was time to buy new tires. Not only was the purchase and installation quick and easy, I was in and out within two hours. (And I was a walk in!) Again, you can go anyplace for tires in this city, but you wont get the professionalism, quality and great service that you can only get from Affordable Tire and Brake. I wont buy tires anywhere else. ( Ill also add its within walking distance of plenty of great places for coffee and breakfast if youre going to wait.)I purchased tires for two vehicles from Affordable Tire and Brake. I posted a review elsewhere that pointed out that the lug nuts on my car were torqued to factory specs, this alone impressed me. My most recent visit involved a possible issue with a leaking tire. The tire was checked and all was good. My front tire had a nail in it. First time Ive used this place, (I live in Vancouver) but they were the closest to the Vet clinic I was at. Only 45 minutes, and Im good to go. And no charge! (Most places only fix tires for free *if* you bought the tire at their place.) Absolutely wonderful service.

I was here twice the other day, and none of their employees, including the several who work in a relatively confined office space, were wearing masks -- in gross violation of the Governors order. I have no idea why a business would be willing to jeopardize its customers health in this way.

I needed new brakes and called around to various places to get quotes over the phone. I got a good vibe immediately after talking to Michael as he was very professional and informative, more so then the other shops that I had called previously. I scheduled the appointment and when I brought it in i asked if they had time to do an oil change. No problem the friendly woman at the counter said, I pushed my luck and also asked if they could service the transmission. Again she said yes. They called later in the day and told me I needed a new serpentine belt and the power steering fluid should be flushed. I Knew that both of these things needed to be done. And they never tried to sell me something that I didnt need, they did all of the extra work in the same day. I picked my vehicle up at the end of the day and it literally drove like a brand new car despite the 257K miles on it. I cannot say enough good things about this shop, I HIGHLY recommend them to anyone who needs professional, affordable and timely service.

I manage a large fleet of vehicles for my place of business. I have found Affordable Tire & Brake to be a one-stop shop for tires, brakes, and mechanical work. Their prices are extremely competitive and the service is excellent. I typically hesitate to recommend repair shops to friends and family, but have found that they provide the same level of service to retail customers. Mike and Scott are no BS kind of guys. They have earned my business and I wouldnt hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

Figured I would need new tires and was ready to purchase, but the great people at Affordable let me know it was not necessary, fixed the hole FOR FREE, and sent me on my way. I have taken two vehicles to them now and in both cases they did what was needed, did an overall check of the vehicles and didnt try to get me to fix anything that wasnt necessary. I brought my car in for a slow oil leak. I so appreciated their honesty. The owner called me to say as a business man he could tell what would be needed to repair the multiple micro leaks but as a person he told me that he wouldnt bother. Very minor amount of leakage but still a leak so that is why I brought it in. It would take removing the engine to get at one of the leaks and he just didnt feel it was worth it. My car is 12 years old but in otherwise great shape. He suggested getting my oil changed every 3000 miles instead of the recommended 5000 miles. I so appreciated his honesty. Great place. Will definitely be back

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND SUB-STANDARD WORK - they didnt set my tire pressure sensors properly after replacing a tire I found out after going to Les Schwab for the repair.First I called, Affordable Tire and Brake and spoke with Scott where he discouraged me from coming in and would not make me an appointment as Scott said this is a busy time and you might wait 3-4 hours we dont take appointments during this time of year....So I went to Les Schwab where I waited 2.5 hours for them to tell me the company that replaced the tire did not set my sensors properly and I paid $22 for this. When I called Scott back to let him know the situation and emailed my paperwork from Les Schwab he basically made up a story and said I said you could come in and see us, which he NEVER said - so overall this company does not put the customer first and I will NEVER buy tires nor visit their shop again.

Great experience. Came in on my spare, left with a new tire, no hassle, no pushiness, reasonable price, great interaction with the desk folk. They even noted that my tail light was out, called me up, asked if I wanted it replaced, and charged a very reasonable fee. I know thats any easy thing to do, but I appreciated their thoroughness.

Getting new tires became unavoidable when one of my well used tires got a little help from a pot hole on I-5... around midnight... nowhere near a safe place.I found Affordable Tire & Brake based on their excellent customer ratings. Heather was knowledgable, helpful and when I went in to get my new set of tires, they were fast, affordable and easy to work with. If they offer a service I need, Ill definitely choose them over the competitors.

Got a flat on a brand new Firestone tire. Heather helped me out and made sure that we found the most affordable option. It took many phone calls but eventually Heather saved me $300. A very trustworthy establishment. Two thumbs up!

Recently purchased a vehicle that was regularly and last serviced at Affordable Tire. Upon inspection and records found that this business did not do proper repairs as stated. First thing was the supposed replacement of the rear window regulators. When one side failed within 4 months, found that it was not replaced, but was glued back together. The vehicle had all the incorrect fluids in it. Wrong oil, wrong coolant, and wrong power steering fluid. There are other things that cause me to suspect shoty work from these guys as well. I was not the only one to find such issues from this shop. In speaking to a family member, they too had found very unprofessional workmanship on a vehicle serviced here. Needless to say this shop will never earn my business, or anybody else that I know. Be very careful with the service you get from them!
