Old fashioned personal service complete with grumpy old men. I love this place as it has whatever you need. And if they dont have it, they will usually direct you to where you may find it.Makes you remember the simpler times of years past.
This place is great! The service you would expect and their prices are very competitive with the big box stores.I ordered a new Marvin window and not only is the quality way better than one from Lowes, the service was amazing. The knowledge these people have cannot be found at any other box store.
Always very helpful and friendly
HORRIBLE customer service!!!!!! I would give ZERO stars.
Best little building/hardware store in Plymouth and surrounding suburbs. Forget the big box headaches. Quick in and out, never out of stock, killer service!
My go-to local hardware store.
I have developed an ongoing relationship with Hamel Building Center and found them great to work with. However, the reason for this repeat business is the ongoing replacement of my ROTTING Marvin Windows. My house was built in 2003, and Marvin has been aware for many years of the defect in design and assembly which is causing this rotting. It is a long slow process, so Marvin has been doing its best to hide behind the 10 year warranty in responding to the many thousands of customers who bought these defective windows.I have been fortunate to find a few Marvin employees who have done all they can to help, but it is truly the tip of the iceberg. The cost and aggravation of this sporadic but continuous rotting of sashes appears to be never ending. I replaced a sash in January, and recently discovered two more rotted ( I opened the window and the bottom ledge was disintegrating) sashes which cost over $700 each plus the labor to paint and install.I understand that things can go wrong in the design and production of anything. But, Marvin is a large company which advertises itself to be an industry leader in high quality products. They have an ethical obligation to take responsibility for rotting they knew was coming long before 10 years, but simply chose to hope the rotting would progress slow enough to give them a legal defense for their defective workmanship. So, if you consider Marvin, do so with the other low end window companies which may or may not cause you regrets. But, if you are going to spend top dollar, please choose a company like Anderson Windows where the executives may actually walk the talk.
Like the way it should be,will only shop here
Just had extra keys cut, and the service was quick, efficient, and professional. 5 stars!
Great Family Run hardware and lumber store. The staff was very helpful and the prices were good.
This place is a hidden gem. I needed 2 replacement windows. The Hamel Building center carries quality name brand windows. I chose Marvin for my project and could not be more pleased. The window department is run by Kent L.. He is very knowledgeable, detail oriented, thorough and customer focused.. The installers are very professional. doing an excellent installation followed by a complete clean up of my site. If you need windows, this is the place. I highly recommend the Hamel Building Center.
About as much help as a kick in the nuts, had no interest in helping us.
Close and quick if I need something for the house. Good service
I forgot material for a job nearby, so I stopped in to grab the stakes for which I was looking. The employees there helped me find an even more inexpensive material than what I had originally brought up to the register, saving me money. Their kindness and honest was definitely appreciated.
KENT... Fantastic professional salesmanship!I was shopping for a patio door when Kent L approached and asked to help. We discussed the door I need and he showed me several options. Kent was most concerned about solving the problem instead of selling a door. He spent almost 60 minutes with me one-on-one showing examples of different important details that I hadnt considered. I see now that had I bought a door, I would have had days and days, possibly weeks of installation head-aches trying to make it fit in order to save a few hundred dollars. Thanks to Kent I understand quite a bit more about patio doors and choosing the right door that solves a problem, not choosing the least expensive option! HAMEL BUILDING CENTER WILL SEE MUCH MORE OF ME AND MY BUSINESS IN THE FUTURE! ASK FOR KENT!
They have always been good to us.
Hardware store for the products you need
Bought a custom door through them but felt like I was an inconvenience anytime I would ask for clarification about anything with the order and it would take forever to get a response. I want to support local business but it looks like the rest of my business will go elsewhere.
Greatest employees and the best small town hardware store you will ever find.
Not retail focused. More expensive than big box.
I love the employees here! They are the nicest people youll ever meet.
I believe in supporting local businesses but they never return my call. The one time I stopped by never got the estimate back. Off to Lowes down the street.
Complete joke!!! Male individual was condescending, argumentative and dismissive. Came in there to get a key copy for my rv and was told they dont have a blanknfor that. No key blanks for motorcycles, sheds, boats or rvs. Its a generic key that is no way special. A screw driver can open any camper door and this guy cant duplicate a key for a generic lock that can be unlocked with any flat piece of metal???? And they didnt have any minnie torches because theyre out of touch with todays worlds needs. Some neighborhood hardware store. Over priced, limited products and awful staff
Very helpful and have very good selection
