Honestly, I never tend to write reviews, however, enough time has passed, for me to really gather my thoughts, and put into words the despicable series of events that transpired with Aalam Salon. I had a service at another salon. Said salon had left my hair a mess. I’m a natural blonde. For whatever reason, this salon had missed the mark, so to speak, on my color. I left with multicolored hair, and a miserable mess. I visited Salon #2, about 2 weeks later, to attempt to fix the mess in my hair. It failed miserably, however, at least I was presentable enough to be in public. I heard good things about Aalam, so I called to make an appointment. This would be for corrective color, so, it’s hard to find someone reputable to do a great job. I was told I needed to come in for a “consultation” prior to making an appointment. I understood, because they wanted to see the color, and condition of my hair, to see if it were fixable. Within a week, I met with Bimal. (I think that’s how you spell her name) She had told me my hair was fixable. She could foil my head, and break up the terrible color, hard lines, and brassiness. We were all set to go, but not before I was required to leave a $100 deposit. I returned to Aalam a week later for my appointment. Bimal started on my hair. Now, I’ve had my hair highlighted probably a dozen or more times in my life; I CANNOT figure out for the life of me, why, someone would highlight the top of my head, and LEAVE THE FOIL AND BLEACH ON MY HAIR FOR 2 WHOLE HOURS!?!?? Bimal did this. I have a lot of hair, and very thick hair; she left foil on the top, while she worked on the sides, and the back. I even questioned this, I was told, “Its ok.” I was NOT prepared for the next couple hours, but after my complete nervous breakdown, I can discuss in detail. She left the bleach and foil on my head for the longest time imaginable! I was taken to the sink, in which she began pulling foils off of my head. My hair was coming out with the foils!!! To make matters way worse, a young lady who only cuts hair at Aalam, was assisting Bimal. The comments. The heavy sighs. They had destroyed my hair. I was then taken to have my hair cut. I could not get a comb through my hair without huge clumps of hair falling out..I was in tears. I was hysterical. The ignorant hair stylist made matters worse with her comments; “Oh my God.”, “This is bad.” “I may have to cut your hair past your ears to save it.” And to think, I walked in with a full head of hair. Thick, beautiful hair, that ONLY NEEDED A COLOR CORRECTION! After telling the ignorant hair stylist to not touch my hair, the owner noticed I was having a complete breakdown. At this point, Bimal left, she knew what she had done. The owner blew my hair dry, and had to mention how he was a master stylist, but was not going to charge me for him to blowout my hair. Are you kidding? It’s the LEAST he could have done, with what those two ladies had just done to my hair. This took place in March, 2021. It has now been 5 months. 5 long months of Olaplex treatments, no heat to style my hair, hair vitamins, Kerastase treatments. It’s been hundreds of dollars of products to rehabilitate my hair, and not being able to touch it, until it was healthy enough. I forgot to mention, the owner offered me a bottle of Kerastase Shampoo, and Conditioner—which I gladly accepted, to assist with the rehabilitation of my hair. This salon RUINED ME. They ruined my hair, color, (it was orange, I was being convinced it was “rose gold”), they broke so much of my hair off, it’s been awful to tame, I’ve had to learn how to hide the problem areas, so you can’t visibly see the mess. If I had a “consultation”, I should have been turned away if my hair were not healthy; but I was not. Instead, I was placed in the chair with someone completely inexperienced to correct what issues my hair had. I have worked SO HARD to fix the mess AALAM created with my hair. This is not an “Award Winning” Salon, this is a place ran by greed, and inexperienced stylists; not to mention, unprofessional.

I had been going to the same hairstylist for over 15 years and this was my 2nd time trying a new saloon. After a failed attempt of going to a different stylist I was very nervous at first. I went to the Aalam salon with a couple of pictures of haircuts I liked and voila! First time in my life I got the exact haircut I showed the picture of :) it definitely worths the money, staff is professional and they use good quality products.

** Update as of 4/5/21- The owner actually called me the next morning (on Easter Sunday) to understand my review more. He agreed with me on everything and apologized that I Felt as though they didnt have the time for me. He informed me that he prides himself on his salon and reviews. I respect that. I respect that he called me and wanted to do whatever he could to make this outcome a positive one. I told him that I appreciate and respect the time they took and to honestly just refund me the $50 deposit. He agreed and said of course!! I received a $60 credit to my account on Tuesday. Again, I appreciate that he took the time to read my review and promptly contacted me to try and make things right. Im changing my 1 star 🌟 to 3🌟**I went to this salon after reading great reviews. I was so excited as I have had some bad experiences with salons in the past. I booked a Root Color with Refreshing Ends, online it advised services would be estimated at $100. I saw where a blowout fee would be waived for a first time client, I thought that was really cool. I was also asked for a $50 deposit, no problem at all. I had seen online to ask about deals for new clients I was beginning to think this salon was really different than others, offering a great value without sacrificing quality. So far everything sounded great and I was ready to get my hair back to beautiful! The problems started when I got to my appointment. I met my stylist Nickie. I was advised that my booking was not valid for what I needed done. Then she stated that she would have to see if she has time?? The booking stated a hour and a half. She advised that I required a bleach touch up which was not a selection on the booking system. After a brief disappearance by Nickie she reappeared and stated that she would do my hair for $200 plus an additional $40 for the blowout. Reluctantly I agreed because I figured that I would be happy with the results and this would make up for the issues thus far. I asked Nickie if they offered any new client discounts or Military discounts to which she promptly stated no.Upon completion of my hair I noticed that my hair still had a very brassy warm tone which was why I made the appointment with the root touch up and refreshing ends. I expressed my concern to the stylist but she seemed content with the results and was already jumping to another client. A little upset I proceeded to checkout where things got more confusing.I was charged $150 for a bleach and $90 for a haircut(to trim dry ends). I asked if my deposit would come out of the total at stated before. The response I got was did you make a deposit? After showing my deposit receipt I was still charged $240. So my $100 estimated appointment now jumped to a astonishing number of $290. I was also prompted for gratuity to which I unfortunately declined. I was so upset that when she asked if I wanted to schedule a future appointment I held back tears as I stated no.My hair was already a brassy blonde with 1/2 inch of roots exposed. I left the salon with roots lightened with a brassy tone. My hair was flat and contained no volume at all. I wanted to love this salon based on the reviews but unfortunately this experience has ruined this. Had they come out and said from the beginning of the booking process that my hair would be $300, or $90 for a trim I would not have had an issue and just kindly declined. So where did my deposit go? Free first blowout? $90 to trim a 1/2 inch of dry ends? No discounts.... only attitude. You must be honest and upfront with everything to build trust with a new client. Most woman would agree that trusting a total stranger with their hair is very stressful and the process should not enhance this. I really hope this does not happen often or to anyone else who wants to try this salon. Money is not an issue... trust is everything. Be upfront, honest and accept that technical issues in the booking process might cause issues with your pricing and timeline. Do not press your frustrations with these issues on your new client.

Im spontaneous, so I walked into this business around 9am this morning, after reading their reviews of course. This place is less than a mile away from me. Kelly took care of my hair, she listened carefully to my instructions, and gave me the best advice and service. Thanks again, this is the first time I get a true haircut! Curly hair is difficult, just like me. And the best services need to be honored.

Michael is awesome! He is very talented and does the most natural looking highlights. He always listens to how I want my hair to look and then makes it happen. I enjoy the salon overall as well as they are very customer service oriented. The owner has been there every time and he will check you in and bring you something to drink himself. They are great and worth the money.

I have been a client here for years and have never been unhappy with the service or treatment. The stylists are all outstanding. Karen is simply the best at color. Mansour is wonderful, but so popular, luckily Luis is wonderful too! Today I had my first cut with David and am very happy with the job he did.You simply cannot go wrong with any of the staff here!

I have been a client here for over 8 years, primarily because I love my colorist and have gotten good haircuts from various stylists. They recently changed their policy and now charge $40 after coloring services for an INTERN to do a “quick” blow dry. This doesn’t include styling-just drying -your hair. Previously, this service was complimentary. As someone who colors her hair religiously every 5 weeks for $120 with occasional extra services such as gloss, deep conditioning treatments and highlights throughout the year, this added expense to every service isn’t feasible. I also think blow drying after a coloring service is a pretty basic expectation. I shouldn’t have to leave the salon with dripping wet hair and I shouldn’t have to go home immediately and spend more time drying my hair after an appointment. The first appointment after the policy change I wasn’t even told until checkout. The charge was waived when I said I hadn’t been told at the time of booking. I tried to talk to the manager but he was too busy to discuss. My next appointment, now aware of the charge, I opted to forego the blow dry. My drive home was so uncomfortable with soaking wet hair just dripping down my back. When paying the kind of money I pay every 5 weeks, I shouldn’t leave the salon unhappy or resentful. I decided to leave a review on Yelp explaining my unhappiness and asking them to change the policy back to a complimentary blow dry with services to retain loyal clientele. The review, as this one, was honest yet fair and provided constructive criticism.Rather than calling me to address as a business owner should I instead have been blackballed from the salon. When it was time to schedule my next appointment I was told I could not without manager approval and that Nasser would call me back at the end of the day. He never did. I called the next day and left a message politely requesting a call back and more than willing to have a conversation about the policy and my review. I never received a call back. So it seems that not only does this salon not value its clients but finds them expendable if they dare to speak their mind and leave a fair and honest review. These business practices speak volumes about the owner both personally and professionally. I am more than happy to no longer be a client of the salon and will make sure to tell all the people I have referred over the years of what has happened. I also hope anyone reading this review considers bringing their business elsewhere. While there is no question staff is talented, I don’t want to support a business that treats clients in this manner.

The service and staff are very nice and accommodating. Unfortunately, my hairstylist was unable to straighten my curly hair to my liking. I recognize curly hair can be difficult to work with but after my hairstylist finished straightening my hair, it was still big, frizzy, and had curls in some places here and there. I ended up leaving without a haircut and going home to straighten my own hair as I was not satisfied. It could be that coming to Aalam for haircuts if you have curly hair would not be the best option though again everyone was kind.

Love AALAM salon and I can not say enough good things about Tina! She is the only stylist I will trust my hair with from now on! In fact, while I was there, one of her clients told me she flies in from Denver to get her hair cut by Tina. Now I am going to be honest...its not cheap, but I have learned the hard way that you get what you pay for when it comes to haircuts, and the price is more than worth it!The salon is super clean and trendy and they have state of the art equipment for all hair processes. Prepare to make AALAM your permenant salon once you go there because nothing else will measure up afterwards.

Great Haircuts and Horrible Hair Color. I will never get my hair colored here again. I left the salon looking like a freak. Everyone at the salon said my hair looked great (yeah right). I thought it did too until I got home and really looked at my hair. I have really dark brown hair and the lady applied very light highlights to the back part of my hair. I told her I wanted them all over my hair and I didnt think it would come out so light. She should have known since my hair is dark. Needless to say I looked like a skunk. I called back upset and they said that I could go back in to get my hair corrected however the lady that colored my hair wouldnt be available for the entire week until the next weekend. I had to go to work like this. I decided not to go back at all. After all of this and spending almost $300, I have decided not to return and to try out some other salon next time.

I am a dark blonde, I have always been blonde, although many places have struggled with getting the color correct. A colorist at a salon in Dallas accidentally turned my hair brown. I waited a few months and by this time the brown had washed out into red brassy hideous color. Going to Aalam was a gamble I could not be happier I took. Zuzana was amazing, she got my hair the exact right color the first try. She was sweet and awesome to talk to. Im not one to rant and rave about much but I will be a client of hers forever.

I called ahead to see if they had someone who is a wiz at cutting fine straight hair with a razor and I thought I would get my semipermanent color freshened up too. They insisted on doing my color first and I told the colorist I didnt want to do the roots (I want my few grey hairs to show) just color the bleached, faded-color ends to match them. Well, before I knew it shed slathered my roots with color and tried to make it okay by pointing out it was only semipermanent. I also had two small strips of purple which she foiled (no bleaching, just a second semipermanent color). Then the stylist turned out to be EXTREMELY young and to have kinky-curly hair texture herself, which made me a little doubtful that she could razor cut my fine, stick-straight hair. She barely glanced at the photo I showed her and didnt touch my hair at all before it was wet. On talking about it with her, she seemed completely not confident about it, and said some things about how shed do it that told me she had no idea how straight, thick, baby-fine hair acts. She finally admitted that she had never razor cut fine straight hair before and I complained to the manager, who tried to convince me that she knew what she was doing and I didnt need a razor cut anyway (Ive had this exact same haircut 3 times). Finally he told her just to blow it dry and let me go.Sticker shock at the counter! $135 for a semipermanent color and redoing two small foils! I was so disappointed and felt like I had been ripped off and gotten almost nothing for my money.
