Kept them since they were the prior owners oil supplier, regret it and would never recommend. Had an issue with hot water, called Petro Service, some guy Michael comes to my house and starts telling me my oil tank is old, needs to be replaced or do a gas conversion or he will place me on a stop oil delivery order. He sets up an appointment with Petro for a gas conversion estimate, not only was the estimate over double the half dozen local plumbers I contacted, I was also informed nothing is wrong with my oil tank and this is a known scam by Petro, in fact the same guy Michael had my neighbors replace their entire oil tank. Whileall this is happening, My wife contacts Petro to put a stop on our oil deliveries as we have 5/8th of a tank and now planning to do the conversion. The very next day after the stop was requested, Petro came to fill up our tank. Long story short, I now converted to gas and Petro slapping me with a break of contract fee after they told me they would stop delivering oil to me and caused this whole mess lol. Good Luck dealing with these snake oil salesman.

Petro sold me a maintenance service contract but they refuse to replace a corroded gasket on the circulator pump until it completely breaks and my basement is flooded. I was told when I signed up it was included in the contract. Bait and switch for sure. They get you to sign up and then tell you that what you need is not included and costs extra. I will not be renewing this contract and will be switching to another heating company.

Petro replaced the house water heater they were professional neat, and did the installation quickly Wish i could have this cure come any time i need work done that your company does.

My heat broke down 3-4x in the last 3 months, with 2 of those occurring in less than 24 hours. When I called to complain, it took 3 calls to get a supervisor to call me back. The rudest person ever. Said i got bad luck, said I talked too much, and said there was nothing he could do. He never even once said he was sorry. Very belligerent on the phone and couldn’t wait to hang up. And then after that my heat broke down (approximately 3 weeks after)! What’s sad is that the frontline staff are all every nice and professional.Petro: You must have a recording of the convo that I had with this supervisor in March 2021. Listen for yourself! Absolutely a disgrace!!

It was our first call to Petro as new customer. They sent the tech same day and tech named Scott was wonderful. He spent a lot time and didnt wanna leave till the heat was working. Wonderful experience.

I have been with them for more than 2 years, I was paying their high oil price, this year everybody else is charging less than $1.83 a gallon but they charge me $2.65, anyways I wanted to stop the delivery because I have to move out and my partner wants to convert to gas, when I called them to stop delivery they said you have to pay the termination fee $599, I told they can you lower it cause I’m moving out, they said NO, after being loyal to them paying all my bills and paying the higher price now they don’t want to help me, bad customer service. Stay away.

The service was fine... the people answering the phones to make service appointments... not so much. They were less than helpful and less than courteous. This was the first time my experience with them was than stellar. Disappointing.

It was Labor Day and weve got out of heat water - but Petro is always here to help - soon after my call highly professional guy came and fixed everything! I am positively blown away by the level of service provided! Technician Kevin worked many hours yesterday repairing my furnace and then finishing by bleeding all radiators along with the back-up of Doug whom arrived to do that task. Both men were careful to maintain social distancing, wore masks and were very low key and unobtrusive while working. The basement was left clean and neat.Thank-you Petro for your quick response and keeping me informed/updated about arrival times. I felt safe and confident while they were here and am now enjoying the toasty comfort of my home.

Our hot water heater started leaking out of no where. We noticed this after hours and called Petro thinking they could come in the morning. They ended up sending someone the same night and repaired our heater on the spot. Excellent service!

I have been a Petro customer for many years. On Tuesday, September 15, 2020, I called Petro and spoke to Chris regarding heating maintenance. Chris scheduled an appointment with a Petro service technician the same day. Eric, the Petro service technician, arrived promptly. Eric made the necessary repairs. Eric was courteous, personable and professional.

The first tech that came to the house worked on retrieving the hot water for over 4 hours, changed the computer panel (which cost us $575) and still did not fix the problem. Then the second tech came and analyzed the problem and stated that we need a new part (which will take 2 weeks to be ordered). Long story short, I don’t even know if it was necessary to have the first tech change the computer panel (when it wasn’t the part that was broken). After a day wasted we still don’t have hot water for another 2 weeks. Needless to say, no one in the house are happy with the news.

From the moment I called the Petro service number, my experience was great. The woman who handled my need was wonderfully professional and personal. I was advised that a service repair person would arrive between 9:45 AM and 12:15 PM...the arrival was at 9:45 AM...and the repairman immediately went to work, identified the problem and addressed the repair that was necessary. An hour or so later he left with my system perfectly personal. He was totally professional and was completely personal...he cared. My whole experience was a continuation of the quality service that I always receive from Petro.

Had a problem with one heating zone and was given a 7 hour window for a repair man to come. Waited all day. Was never called to say there would be further delayS. Finally showed 8.5 hours later. Petro should inform customers better or hire more repair men. This was ridiculous.

Setup a burner cleaning appt weeks ago between 8-12. Proactively got a call saying they would be there at 1. That was ok. Asked if I wanted a call before the tech arrived. I said yes. Never got a call and tech came at 2:30. Have a prior commitment at 3 so not happy with them at all plus made the time to be available. Will be looking for a different company in the future.10/28/2020I did receive a call from Petro last evening and they did apologize and helped me reschedule an appointment for next week.

The serviceman was terrific. Very knowledgeable and friendly. The representatives with whom you book the appointment were not consistently good. Some were not particularly helpful or understanding & acted in a condescending manner so it really depended on who returned your call when it came to the ease of scheduling an appointment for service when there was a problem with my system

Well sometimes things slip through the cracks. I gave them one star due to no response to installation problem & billing problems. A supv. got back to me and immediately recognized and corrected the billing problem. I told her no rush on the installation correction during the pandemic, I was just happy to get an acknowledgement and that it would be corrected. So when that is done I will re-review and give full review as we have been using Petro for a long while and deserve a fair shake.

Was very surprised and pleased to have the service call scheduled for the same day that the service call was requested. The service person actually arrived a few minutes before the 5-8PM time frame scheduled for this address. The service person was very attentive as I described the problem and what I had already perceived to be the cause of the problem (possible defective valve in the domestic hot water system) which prompted my request for professional guidance. Once he had checked out the system the service person also concluded that the valve was defective and had to be replaced. Since the defective valve was part of the domestic water system and not the boiler hot water system under Petro it was recommended that an independent plumber be contacted for the valve replacement.

Our ac went out on the hottest day of the year and they were able to get us a service call within hours. And yes they fixed it !!! So grateful

Decided to go with Petro because they made me feel comfortable that they’d find a solution to a heating flow problem we’re having upstairs. A solution without breaking the bank. Tech came by last night to take a look and basically spent 20 minutes simply explaining the system we have. He offered no solutions other than saying there was nothing he could really do and I should call sales to ask them about ductless units. He was nice enough but not very helpful. He also suggested I look in the attic to see if any ducts or pipes were disconnected. Shouldn’t you be doing that as part of this service call? In short, the upstairs is freezing still and we don’t have the money for ductless right now. Willing to change this review if someone who is more helpful is sent to us. Otherwise, I’ll be leaving Petro when our first year is up.

Tech was professional and courteous. Made the repairs quickly and seamlessly.*2nd service call: water heater went down this time. Called at 7:25pm, tech was there before 8:30 and cleared up the issue within 20 minutes.

I had Petro install a Standby Generator and Propane Tank. They also had to do a lot of upgrading to my electricity. Everyone was very knowledgeable, skilled, courteous and answered all questions. Petros services are good in general, you can schedule a tune-up for the next week in the summer (anyone trying to do the same with competitors know what Im talking about), the techs are very professional and genuinely good people and their service is more comprehensive than other companies.That said Im not giving them a 5 stars because the price negotiations on oil delivery renewals are never straightforward and its a time of the year I know Ill be stressed out.

Have been a customer for 19 years. I was sold very expensive new equipment 2 months ago. Have been without heat and hot water 3 times since. Defective equipment from the manufacturer (supposedly). Last tech came and couldn’t fix it. Have to wait almost a week for the installer to come back. #1 they should sell equipment that works. #2 if you have a problem they should make repairing that equipment top priority. #3 poor coordination among the service technicians. One guy comes and doesn’t know what the other guy is doing. If only the installer can fix it then the service call needs to be routed to him. I think everyone means well and the company has been prompt to send help but I was happier with my old, inefficient boiler that always worked. Stay away from Energy Kinetics equipment!!!! Cheap, cheap, cheap quality.

Response to a request for home heating service was very good, with same-day service call scheduled. When he arrived, the service technician was prompt, courteous, knowledgeable, and installed a replacement thermostat quickly. However, there was no choice of thermostats, and the one installed is very hard to read for its programming instructions and has no backlight for ease of reading.

Called for a leak in the oil line from the tank to the boiler. Technician, Robert, showed up within an hour and replaced the line (covered under current service plan). Job was well done.

Service Tech was timely and professional. He checked the offending water heater burner and fixed it. He also checked my hot air furnace to be sure it was working properly.He took the time to explain what he did.Very good experience.

The only reason I chose a 4 star instead of a 5 star was because the over6 1/2 hour wait for the technician to arrive in cold weather.Perhaps not enough technicians.,Once the Tech Ed arrived I knew I was in good hands. Came on a Sunday and getting new boiler tomorrow. Amazing team effort.

Had a leak from either the furnace or water tank. Called Petro with whom I have had a contract with for almost 25 years and received a time of between 2 - 5pm. Was told they were running late. Water kept coming and flooding despite efforts to keep on top of it. Given no instruction as to how to turn off water to tank. Repair person showed up at close to 9:30pm. He walked in and said it was the water tank. Didnt shut off water to tank, didnt contact Petro, left within 10 minutes with no further instructions but youll have to get someone to replace it. which is what I thought they were in the business of doing. The following morning despite best efforts water was flooding into surrounding rooms under moldings. Dumping 1 gallon pail every 15 - 20 minutes. Contacted another plumbing company Benjamin Franklin at 8am. Arrived promptly and immediately shut 2 valves which stopped the tank leaking. Replacing tank as I type. Contacted Petro at 8:30am and finally spoke with a Supervisor after my 2nd call at 12pm. Asked for a follow-up after he speaks with repair person. No report had been filed by him as of now. Very disappointed. Petro used to be right on top of things, great service, even kept a contract with them after converting to gas. But they have gotten too big and service has been less then stellar.

I have hot water baseboard heating. I had 2 rooms which were not getting heat. I called Petro and got an technician to come in a few hours later. He resolved the issue quickly and advised me that there was small pressure. Great overall experience.

The service at Petro is unparalleled. I have been a customer for many years. Yesterday, I decided to check out my heating system before it got cold and four of my six zones did not work. I called Petro explaining that I have three children under five years old and that my heating system was not working. My boiler (that is so old and needs to changed soon ) stopped working. I noticed at 1 in the morning how cold the house was. I called Petro, they told me someone would arrive to my house by 6am. At 2:06am someone from Petro arrived to service the boiler and get it working. Not even an hour after I had called them! The worker was so professional, not noisy at all and worked quickly to get it going. I cannot say enough good things about my experience. Customer for life here. I was happy with the service yesterday however the reason for the emergency call was because I was out of oil. I am customer on automatic delivery and was told I was getting a delivery on 11/16/18. Clearly that didnt happen causing my family to run out of oil not only on Thanksgiving but the coldest day of the season so far. This was a tremendous inconvenience not only because of the reasons stated above but also because I have a 16 month old and a husband who is currently bed ridden recovering from surgery. Im not happy with that part of the service and if this continues well have to assess our current contract with Petro.

I am a new customer to Petro. Called at 10:30 am when I noticed my burner was leaking water. Was told a technician would arrive between 2-5 pm. Never heard, so I called to inquire. Nice phone operator tried to call dispatcher. but she could not get through. So far, I am not impressed with Petro service. Will consider this when my contract is up.

Ive been using Petro for years. 2 nights ago it was cold and my Wife and I realized it was getting cold inside. The burner wasnt running and it was 60 degrees inside. Called Petro at 10 PM and asked for service. Was told that someone would be here between Midnight and 3 AM. Ok, if it had to be, it had to be. Around 11:15 PM Tommy showed up (first had an email that he was 10 minutes away), and fixed the problem (Circulator broke). He noticed that a motor was at its last leg and suggested he come back the next day and replace the motor, which he did.Kudos to Tommy (an excellent and professional serviceman) and to Petro for keeping us warm.Thank you.

We were told the tech would arrive between 5pm and 8pm. When I called after 8pm to find out where the tech was I was informed by the customer service rep that he was still busy on another job and a tech would come the next day in the morning at 7am. At around 1030pm the same night a tech showed up at my house unexpected, since I was already told by a representative that a tech would show up at 7am the next day. The technician was ultimately able to resolve my issue but I wish there was better coordination and communication thats why I gave 4 stars.

Avoid this company at all costs!Ive been a customer for over 11 years, we always pay our bills on time. I come home two weeks ago to find out that we have no heat, I have a sick 2 yr old daughter thats not sleeping and now no heat, how could that be.Turns out the tank is bone dry. I dont know how that is possible, since Ive never ever had to schedule a delivery, since Im a contracted customer. I called at 7pm to let them know, and in spite of my relationship as a long time on time paying customer they couldnt even get me some oil last night to last until another delivery. None.I had to call another 24 hour emergency fuel company and pay through the nose to get oil that night. Petro is a disaster.In addition, because the tank was dry even though I had oil added the furnace wouldnt run, so I had to figure out how to bleed the pump and get the air out of the line, which took another hour since Ive never done that before.I was promised a credit due to the high cost I had to pay to get my emergency fuel and I have yet to see this credit. No one calls you back to resolve any matters, its as if they really could care less about your business.

For more than fifty years we have stayed with Petro because of the excellent service.

Petro already let my tank run dry this year and would not come to fill it up until following night. Also, this forced me to shop around and realize that Petro was ripping me off. They are about 50% higher than everyone else.

Petro gives a free service agreement to new customers. I agreed. Why would anyone pay high prices for oil and agree to pay $200 for a service agreement? No one would. After a year I cancelled. They called me and begged me to come back, once again offering me a free service agreement. I agreed. This went on for another couple of years. Then I decided to cancel for good and buy oil cheaper from a local company that offers discount oil on the internet. Petro decided to send me a bill for $200 and threaten to put me in collections. After I cleared it up with their Plainview, NY office, I keep getting threats from their corporate office. I have contacted the Better Business Bureau. If that does not work I will turn it over to my attorney. I will not sit for this type of harassment. I suggest you find a company that IS Not a corporate conglomerate.

I have not had a delivery since the spring and I am on auto delivery. Its late December and I am worried. I called 3 times to get account info and renew my contract, each time I asked if I could get my delivery sooner as it has been a long time. I was told it is set up and thats that. I wont run out. WELL........thanks! I ran out of oil. So now, we had to freeeeze over night, use expensive electric heaters, and I had to stay home all day until the service man came to confirm...yeah...I ran out of oil. He even said that it has been happening a lot. Doesnt seem like anyone cares here, no one will listen, no one can change anything automatic. Really not a happy camper!
