Ive been seeing Jamie Ober for facial electrolysis over the last few months now and have been very happy with the results. The entire practice has a very relaxed atmosphere, staff is always communicative and the schedule is flexible. Jamies preparation and knowledge has made me feel very comfortable as a trans person and would happily recommend her work to any other trans person in Pittsburgh (or beyond!).

Highly recommend, my first appointment was with Jamie and she explained everything very well and my session was over before I knew it and the rest of my appointments have been with Kait and shes very easy to talk too, also making my long sessions fly by. So basically theyre all around very professional, do a great job, and are all very pleasant and enjoyable to talk too, Im sure the other technicians are just as great as Kait and Jamie.

Electrologists as friendly as they are skilled and knowledgeable. Convenient location, with low-cost parking off the street. I was immediately put at ease at my very first visit, and feel so comfortable with each return. The rooms are clean and well kept, and the staff are good at checking in with clients during each session. The services may be a pretty penny, but well worth it--and anyway, thats surely true of any such establishment. More to the point, Im so pleased with the results Ive had, I feel like Im getting a fantastic value. There may be other businesses around Pittsburgh that perform electrolysis, but given my experience here, Ober Yahr is unequivocally the one place Id recommend to anyone considering it!

Ive had nothing but a great experience seeing Jamie for hair removal. I came into it a little skeptical, but she made me feel comfortable and educated on the process with a great overview and explanation of how it works before I ever committed to getting electrolysis. Ive done about 6 hours of electrolysis with Alyssa so far to remove facial hair. Im so happy with the results :) Alyssa does excellent, efficient work, and her company makes the pain pretty easy to get through. Weve cleared a lot of my face and its done so much for my confidence. Not to mention, shaving is far easier. I dont think I could have found a better provider.I would recommend Yahr to everyone, especially if you are a trans woman like myself looking for a nonjudgemental and professional provider!

Clean, hygenic, and discreet. Very effective, and not hardly as painful as people say it is (probably because Yahr is doing it correctly). Easy to work with, from making appointments to the actual sessions. Im two months and 24 hours in, and have had nothing but good experiences to date.

Ive been going to Yahr Electrolysis for over a year now and I can say that Yahr definitely has the friendliest staff of any electrolysis location in the Pittsburgh area. This, along with their competitive rates and nice location in the middle of Squirrel Hill makes Yahr easily the best clinic for electrolysis work. Ive recommended it to all of my friends.

Extremely satisfied with my visits to Yahr Electrolysis and Laser!! I started visiting Dr. Yahr approximately 8 months ago and felt comfortable right from the start. After several minutes of questions and answers it was time to begin. That first scheduled appointment lasted one hour and as soon as I got in my car to drive home I called the office to ask for an additional appointment the next day. It was a wonderful feeling to know that I had started to finally fix my embarrassing problem. After several months of visits the change was incredible, instead of plucking the area for 45 minutes a day in addition to shaving and heavy makeup I am able to go out in public without hesitation... no plucking, no makeup and with more confidence then I have had in years. I know that I still have more to go but it is definitely worth it.I am a big fan of Dr. Yahr and of the blend method. It is clear that he has a lot of experience and a lot of patience, he is very easy to talk to and makes the appointment go by in a flash. I have not worked with Jane but she is very nice on the phone when I call to make my appointments.

Im beyond lucky finding this wonderful place! Ive put off getting laser and electrolysis for years,I decided to look up places near me and kept seeing all these great things about Yahr Electrolysis Center. I decided to try it and I only regret waiting so long. Everybody is beyond warm and understanding to your personal needs. They dont treat you like a number, you can feel the genuine care! I get both laser and electrolysis treatments and my experience is always superb, Mrs.Yahr puts her heart into what she does. Honestly its a beautiful environment and I constantly look forward to my appointments. I urge you to give them a try,I couldnt recommend them more!

Ive been going here for a little over a year and have been seeing Jamie for electrolysis. She is the nicest and most genuine person youll ever meet. She does exactly what I want. I got tired of getting my eyebrows waxed. So I looked into electrolysis and my eyebrows look fantastic! Honestly, if you add up how much waxing eyebrows costs over the years, electrolysis pays for itself. Plus once those hairs are gone, theyre gone for good, even if youre one of the many people with a hormone imbalance; they wont come back. I know of people with polycystic ovary syndrome, and I know how much they hate having side burns or a goatee. If you have PCOS and have extra hairs because of it, or any other condition that produces unwanted hairs, or just dont want to wax your brows like me, call Yahr, ask for Jamie, and shell get you all fixed up in no time!!

His work seems good but I was late for 1 appointment(first time ever) and when I arrived I was told I would have to reschedule ; even though I was told with a smile I would have to reschedule I could still feel and see and the anger in his face. I would be uncomfortable returning to someone work that closely on me. Plus I was not really told how often I would need to have the treatments done -very vague

I have been to Chuck for several months and I felt I wasted a ton of money going here. He was always 5 minutes late but ended on time or earlier, and when you are charging in 15 minute sessions that is a lot! I asked if laser was a better option for my growth and he said no without hesitation but it was the obvious better choice and ever other place Ive been has said the same. Electrolysis brings them more money since its slow and charges by the minute. Jane on the other hand is much more thorough and caring, she does laser hair removal for larger areas. Id recommend her for laser, but dont go here for electrolysis

I definitely recommend Yahr Electrolysis and Laser. I got electrolysis done on my neck and chin area and everything went just as Jane said. After a few months there was a lot less hair and the ones that remained were noticeably thinner. At first it can be a little frustrating because it takes time for the treatment to work, but if you stick with you will definitely get rid of those unwanted hairs.

I had my first electrolysis appointment today, and everything was very professional and went very well. First she broke down how everything worked, prices, and possible number of treatments. She talked to me like an adult, but using terms I could understand. I had a 30 minute session and ended up going a bit over because there was a few stragglers she wanted to get since I am leaving for a FL vaca in a few days (which I told her during our friendly chatter). I found that it was not painful and am very satisfied. I will update my review in a few months with and more changes!! Great establishment and great Trained staff! It may be important to note I an a redhead with a very fair complexion, and blonde body hair.

As a transgender woman transitioning late in life (age 50), I have to make smart and healthy decisions, financially and otherwise. I spent a lot of time doing research on the various methods of facial hair removal. Laser is the first thing out of everyones mouth, but the details I learned reading told me otherwise. I learned that the FDA refers to laser hair removal as a permanent reduction. I only have the money to do this once; Im not paying for a permanent reduction in facial hair with laser, then ultimately ending up at Yahr like many of my friends have to finish getting my beard removed. The next issue for me was all methods of electrolysis are not equal. Do your research and read about the different types of electrolysis, or just get Yahr to explain it. And beware, theres hair removal techs in the Pittsburgh area using old equipment. I wanted state of the art equipment like you will find at Yahr electrolysis. We are talking about doing this to your face, you should demand the best. Then theres the training and experience. Dr. Charles Yahr is actually certified, school trained, and has been doing this for many, many years. Please check and see for yourself who is actually trained and registered with the American Electrology Association. Also please realize that this isnt a job that just anyone can do. It takes very skilled hands, like those of an expert fine jewelry maker, to expertly remove hair and do no harm while doing so. If you become a client, youll realize that immediately. My other requirement was a professional setting in a safe part of the city, and expert hygiene. Please dont hire somebody that wipes the needle off from the last persons face with alcohol, then uses on it your face. Hire an electrolysis tech like Dr. Charles Yahr, that throws the needle in the trash when you leave and gives the next person a brand new one. You also need to understand that hair removal is not regulated in Pennsylvania, so you need a trained professional that behaves like one. By now youre probably thinking this review is an infomercial for Yahr Electrolysis that wasnt written by a real client. If you actually believe that, then ask Dr. Yahr for my contact info. My name is Jamie, and I see him weekly. And I wont go anywhere else, because he really is that good.

Its mostly tweezing not electrolysis, so dont be surprised if you never see results. Its a waste of money.
