Probably the best repair shop I’ve ever had the pleasure of getting work done on my car. Cliff is thorough and truly A master at his craft. He is honest and takes the time to explain any questions you might have. Best in the area hands down!
The best service around. Honest and full of integrity, Cliff Story is one of the finest. Not only will you get your car serviced without err Cliff will enlighten you with a variety of stories and opinions he has formed through the years. I trust him completely and admire him personally, very much.
Cliff is the old school real deal. Extremely knowledgeable and trustworthy. Its so refreshing to see the lost art of customer service and exemplary work come together here. Highly recommend.
Professional guys! Knew what they were looking for and were very reasonable with charges unlike some mechanics. Thumbs up!!!
Kip/Cliff (owner of Storys garage) is such an honest mechanic. In a world where so many mechanics are trying to trick you into fixing something that doesnt need fixing, Kip always explains car problems in simple terms and never advises anyone to fix something if unnecessary. He is kind, understanding, and just an all-around great person. I live an hour away and still take my car in to be serviced by Kip--and Ive never regretted it!
I brought my car in after a constant check engine light that had stumped many before. They diagnosed the problem, made suggestions that saved me a ton of money, and explained everything in great detail (which was something I hadnt experienced elsewhere). After all was said and done, my car Finally passed inspection and I couldnt be happier!! The whole staff is very knowledgeable, friendly, and Im happy to say that I have found my go-to place.
Amazing service.I took my car in for its yearly inspection. He walked me through all of the problems found, what he did to address them, and informed me of upcoming maintenance I needed to plan for. At no point did I feel pressured into performing work that I didnt need.In addition, he has loaner cars offered and that enabled me to get to work and back to his place with ease. No dealership in the area offers loaner cars unless you purchased your car there. This is an amazing feature and, to me, makes all the difference.I would recommend this place to anyone who needs service.
Thanks Cliff, Jonathan, and Bob!! Once again, you have come through for me and my car in a pinch and I am grateful for your excellent service! The only reason why my car started at all after a year+ of neglect from me was because of the previous maintenance work you had done on her 244,000 mile engine! You guys never let me down and are always willing to answer my questions and give me reasonable choices along with the necessary information I need to make an informed decision! I trust the information you give me and never feel like youre patronizing the little lady. I like how you call me first with the estimates for the work that needs to be done and I always feel relieved that I dont get raked over the coals! I am forever grateful to my neighbors who highly recommended you to me and now I proudly recommend your establishment to my co-workers because of your great service! Keep up the great work!
I have taken multiple vehicles for inspection and also stopped by as a Saab enthusiast; great experiences all around. Very honest and upfront; I do not hesitate to recommend them to any one in the area.
212,000 miles on my old Saab when suddenly the low radiator fluid light became a constant companion. A visit to Storys Garage was in my immediate future. The fun of yakking with the crew about the world situation, Whidbey Island, global warming, my international travels, and eventually...the liquid pooling under my car.The good news...it isnt my radiator. The bad news...my water pump has decided its time for retirement. The amazing news...leave the car, take a loaner, and in a couple of days all will be fixed.I love these guys. They have taken care of several of my Saabs...and my old Chevy pickup...for years. Totally trustworthy, reasonably priced, always done when they say, and the first thing they do is see if they can fix the broken part before replacing to save you some money.Fun to visit. Which is something incredible to say when talking about your car repair shop. Now if theyd only put that bar I keep requesting in the reception area theyd be perfect.
They are worth your time. The first time I took my car there, it overheated in morning rush hour traffic on 76. Coolant ran down the side of the road. I had to tow it to their shop. 2 hours later, I didn’t have the money to pay the “free” Geico roadside assistance. Without asking them, they offered to pay out of pocket for me in advance. It was only 30 dollars, but friendly gestures like that are huge on a day like that.Honesty and transparency is the biggest obstacle I run into when trying to find a mechanic. I’ve gone through about 4 in the past year with several different cars, but Story’s Saab is personable and they take their work very seriously. I had a great time talking to everyone there about old Saabs and I knew right away this was going to be a positive experience. Without a doubt, Storys Garage knows what theyre doing with these cars. Next time my car needs something, I’ll be taking it here.
I recently bought a used 05 Saab 9 3 which suffered from years of neglect. I knew she would be a handful to get back to tip top. It was difficult to find a knowledgeable mechanic when it comes to Saabs, and many of them just turned down the business since the Saab platform can be somewhat tricky. I was referred to Storys by another mechanic who had said hes been referring people for years. It turns out he was spot on. I knew from the get go Id be able to trust these guys and gals. Just a gut feeling. I had called Carters Automotive and was frankly treated like a schmuck not knowing that I had actually done my research (dont waste your time there). Jen was the majority of my contact through the fix up and she was very knowledgeable and a great help going above and beyond. If you have a Saab, bring it here. - Matt Caione
I had my Audi inspected here. They were friendly, knowledgeable and honest. The car didnt require repairs so hard to comment further-- for now.
We have been customers at Storys for more than a decade. The jobs have included everything from regular maintenance to the occasional major engine and transmission work on our Saabs (7), Jeeps (2) and VW EOS. The work has always been completed at a reasonable labor price and normal parts markup, not the exorbitant rates mentioned by another reviewer. While you can get competent mechanical work at dealerships, at higher labor costs, Storys is where you get the people side of auto repair. Cliff, Jonathan, and Bob treat us as people. In our case, they understand that we keep our cars significantly longer than the national average, they discuss options for repairs that could impact costs and longevity, and they troubleshoot with alacrity (older Saabs and Jeeps do have quirks). Unless we need an emergency repair, this is the only shop we use.
Since Saab went out of business and cancelled their warranty, it has been increasingly difficult to get competent Saab service through former Saab dealerships owned by GM.Since finding Story’s, I would not take our Saabs any place else. Cliff, Jonathan and Bob are all experienced mechanics, with expertise not just in Saabs but in auto repair in general. They take the time to understand the issue and tell you exactly what they are going to do and what it will cost before the repair starts. But Saabs, as any Saab owner will tell you are different than normal cars. They have built-in quirky engineering and need special expertise, tools and knowledge. And as they age, Saabs need increasingly loving care which these guys, Cliff, Jonathan and Bob provide at a more than fair price with free loaner cars as part of the bargain.I have had several instances where Jonathan diagnosed and fixed repair problems at a fraction of the dealer’s estimate. In short, I trust these guys to provide my cars with needed maintenance without padding the bill or adding unnecessary repairs to the service visit.
Let me first say I completely disagree with Ryan P. Storys Garage has enabled me to keep my SAABs on the road and running in top condition for quite some time. Until recently, I owned 3 SAABs each of which was a high to very high mileage car. Since SAAB went out of business I decided to sell each and move to another manufacturer. I sold each car easily and regardless of the mileage each buyer was very impressed with the mechanical condition of the cars. I owe this to Storys Garage who was always fair in price, did no more than what was required on the vehicles and of course always did the work to a very high level of competancy assuring the road worthiness of my vehicles. I also have a collectable car from the 50s. The only shop I will let touch the car is Storys. Recently they did a front end alignment. They exercised extreme care not to blemish the paint and completed an alignment that revived the driving experience of this vehicle. Storys garage is a place where the mechanics care about the cars they service, take personal pride in their craft and want the best for their customers. I find this to be a rare situation in todays world of replace it dont fix it mechanic mentality. You wont go wrong at Storys.
Story is fabulous!
Will be going back
