We started working with Amica a month ago on a homeowners insurance policy. We emailed them multiple times and left at least 10 voicemails asking if there were any other documentation they needed from us which went unanswered for two weeks. Our bank also reached out to them multiple times with no response. When the rep did finally return our calls they asked us to submit a copy of our inspection report which we did right away. Apparently its just been sitting on someones desk for two weeks! They let us know today (the week of our closing) that they are declining to insure us because of normal wear on the roof of the home were purchasing (it was replaced in 2013, has years of life on it). We sent them our inspection report two weeks ago and they didnt review it until yesterday- which now leaves us to scramble to find a different insurance agency. They gave us NO explanation about why its taken them a month to get back to us. Worst experience ever. Please do not use this company for your homeowners insurance.
Amica deserves ZERO star but i gave one for the sake of the long time i have been with them. I have been with them for 10 years and lately i canceled my policy due to being over charged every month and went somewhere else and all my balance was paid they kept sending me letters asking for 9 dollars can you imagin that !!!! I got two threatening letters asking for 9 dollars and if i do not pay they would send it to collection. I would not recommend Amica to anyone because it is just rip off do not waste your time and money.
Insurance companies generally arent wonderful, but these guys really are the worst. Raised rates 25% across the board during the pandemic. Also started charging fees for everything including cancelling your policy. They are as unprofessional as it gets. Dont believe the computer generated response they give as no one will contact you or help.
New Post: I was contacted by AMICA and talked to someone who worked with me to get my homeowners insurance premium down to where I was happy with it. She was very patient and explained all the cost options to me so I can make a wise choice. I am happy that I will be able to continue being insured by AMICA for both my home and cars (loyal customer since 1986).Old Post: Ive been with the company since 1986. At that time, nobody had heard of them but they had affordable car insurance. I have also had our home insured with them since 1992. They were always very good in being responsive to your claims and your received good support from the claims department. But now Im shopping for new home owners insurance because our premiums have gone up 150% in the last 2 years. We made 3 claims in that period which were small (a few concrete tiles being replaced from being blown off from a monsoon, etc), but they said even though the claims were small in payout they go by the number of claims we made. Ive talked with an agent there but they dont seem interested in keeping me as a customer.
I have been with Amica about 9 years. My rates continually go up and never go down. I ask why they go up and they tell me its because the number of claims filed each year. I guess its time for me to find an insurance company that doesnt pay out so many claims. Instead of hitting the pocket book of those who drive recklessly they hit everyones pocket book. Sometimes I want to crash my car so I can get me moneys worth. So much for loyalty. I believe its time to say good by. Every insurance quote I have gotten is about half the price.
I tried to call Arizona Amica office and nobody answered and I sure didnt like their music while I waited for 10 minutes and finally gave up.I called back and a recording told me to press or say 3 to talk to a person. I pressed the 3 button and they said they didnt understand me!!!
They are trying to say I had only liability on my car when I had full coverage. I think they are just trying to get out of the claim! I’m amazed. I have had them for 8 year with a clean, good drive record, no accident, and pay my home owners and car insurance on time every month. I can’t believe this is happening!!! I’m so stressed out. Insurance company are supposed to be there to help you and be on your team. It feel like at this point I may end up with a lawyer. I asked them a bunch of questions when setting up my policy and have the paperwork showing I was covered. Not sure how this could happen? Has anyone else had them try to do something like this?UpdateAmica realized they made an error and are working to process my claim. Hopefully, it works out.
My husband had Amica insurance from 1985 until April 2017 (32 years). We had switched for a few months and when we called to go back to Amica in December of 2017 we were told they couldn’t cover us until we could show that the underlayment on our roof had been replaced. Given we had just purchased the house - we did intend to replace but weren’t in a position at that time to spend $8k so we went with another company again. It has since been replaced.I recently checked back with Amica in February of 2019 for rates and was quoted something super high. Why??? Because we didn’t come back to them within a year and now are considered new customers. With 32 years of history and the ability to prove that we have had no claims to our homeowners or vehicles while we were not with them is not enough??? We are extremely disappointed and I guess will have to take our money elsewhere.Update 2/12/2019 - Still not happy: Received a call from Amica and was told that they are not in the business to provide the lowest rates, which I would expect if the company truly provided customer service above and beyond those who offer lower rates. However it appears the increase of the quote of $433 for one of our vehicles from March of 2018 to December of 2018 (9 months) is the cost of them doing business. Thats a 64% increase in 9 months. The representative did indicate that rates in Arizona have gone up over the last few years; but to me that does not explain the drastic increase we were quoted. I was told I could get an annual decrease of $26 on my homeowners insurance by removing the escrow on my mortgage and paying directly!!!!
Worst place ever.
The most expensive insurance company for auto insurance... Their advertising is very misleading ... Every insurance company now has great customer service and will help you in deciding what coverages are beneficial to you.. Maybe for New England it may be cheaper but for all the other states they are the highest. More than any other insurance company. I graduated from Lincoln High school where they originate.. They are an absolute rip off!!! I live in Arizona and they are by far more than 90% than any other insurance company to include the Hartford and Liberty insurance and I take the free glass replacement deal.... Also those two companies are in New England... Amica is nothing but frauds... Be smart and shop your auto insurance!!! Their commercials make me sick to watch!!!
After reading the reviews I think I will stay with State Farm at least there customer service is top notch. I was looking to changing and Amica sounded great but I am now looking elsewhere.... ty all for your honesty
I read with interest and dismay, the President’s Message in Amica’s 2018 Annual Report as well as Amica’s website mission statement. I observed a significant chasm between what Amica says and envisions, and what Amica does. They seemed to not care about customers and restoring normalcy as they claim. My claim, filed more than a month prior had not been resolved and I received poor customer service. Disappointing, especially since Amica had had my business for many years.UPDATE: In a Hail Mary attempt to address my concerns, I emailed Amica—one last time—the same day of this review. To my delight, they responded promptly and we worked together to resolve my claim, quickly. The actions taken by Amica in response to my request and input are meaningful to me. It’s a new day. I appreciate Amica’s intent to embrace, manifest, and nurture meaningful change.
Just got a quote for car insurance... More than double what I pay now for less coverage. They want... Double the monthly payment ($260/month) for $1000 deductible on full coverage compared to current ($120/month) for $250 deductible on full coverage!!! These guys are smoking something crazy to think their insurance is worth more than 1/2 my monthly payment to the loan finance company! ... uh, maybe with a $0 deductible, but probably still too much for even that. Must be insurance for rich people who enjoy wasting money... dont waste your time here.
Ill be honest. I am basing my decision not to call for a quote after looking at the reviews online. I dont see how that many people can be unsatisfied. fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me
We have been car insurance customers for over a decade. It means nothing to this company except that they have said, you already get enough discounts. A little over one year ago our daughter graduated college. She had been on our policy for 6.5 years. First as a high school student driver living with us. She did not have her own car, but drove one of ours sometimes after school or on weekends. We drove her to school every day. Once in out-of-state college (about 1500 miles away) she was on our policy as an away student. She did not own a car, nor did she bring one to school. She was excited to receive a paid internship in a large company located in a major East coast city. She moved there without a car and used public transportation. Her company bought her a metro pass. She visited our home once for 5 days for Christmas during that time period. Amica advised to take her OFF our policy, so we did. They increased our rate 14% and when asked why fewer drivers on our policy increased our rate, the answer was because we can. Fast forward 14 months. We purchased a 3 year old car and gave her our 11 year old car. She moved from the East Coast to the Midwest. We stayed in the Southwest. Once again she was about 1500 miles away. Our policy increased nearly $1,000 for the new car and Amica threatened to not provide collision again because they can. They knew this would screw up our loan, but they didnt care. However, we did get the collision coverage that we are legally entitled to. By the way, we all have clean driving records and no accidents. My daughter requested a policy for our accident free, 11 year old car. It has an alarm, multiple air bags, stabilizer suspension, dimming rear view mirror and low mileage (well under 100,000 miles.) She has a spotless driving record. They quoted $8000 per year for her policy claiming it was because she dropped her policy previously. I asked them why this made sense when she had no access to a car while living on the East Coast and reminded them that THEY recommend her coming off of our policy. If you arent driving why would you have car insurance? What would she have been insuring? We also couldnt have claimed her as an away student since she had graduated. Amica lied to us and I think they dont want to insure drivers in their 20s. So we are going to dump them and their horrible customer service. I will try not to miss their dumb annual Thanksgiving card and their annual life insurance pitch sent to us on our birthdays. Horrible company!
My current insurance company wanted to charge me $1900.00 a year for motorcycle insurance for one bike. I called Amica and the person helping was very good at getting the price down to $1080 almost half price with the same coverage. Thanks Amica Insurance!
Just got a quote from these peopley husband and i are over 40 no accidents no tickets for 3 vehicles 2 with liability and one full coverage. The one with full coverage is a 2012 malibu bluebooked at 7000 and these CROOKS said 1000 down and 500 a month!! I thought it was a joke!! How are they even in business!!
After reading the reviews I also will stay away. Several are struggling in Arizona I see and thats were I am.So no thanks.
We’ve been with Amica since 1979 when we lived in Rochester, NY and renewed in Southern California and now in Arizona. They claim to have sent the AZDOT proof that our car was insured but evidently it never was recorded by the DMV. Consequently the state of Arizona showed that we were uninsured. A policeman took our plate off the car and we couldn’t drive it until we once again contacted Amica to notify DMV. We had to get new plates and apply to the court to remove the ding for driving an uninsured vehicle. Management told us that they’ve done all they can do and we’re not able to provide proof that AZDOT was electronically notified. Poor customer service and even worse systems.
Cant even answers their phones, then hangs up, I wont be shopping their
Been through all the big ones over 40 years..Will never go back!! Amica might not be the absolute cheapest, but you will never find better customer service and loyalty!!!
Best insurance company I have ever used. I got rear ended in a 3 car accident. The other drivers insurance was rude and unhelpful. I turned it over to amica and all my worries were over. Thank you amica!!!
Looking for change in motor insurance, I was given quote which is more than double what i am paying already... wow...
BEST...... rates,coverage,agents & service.
Terrible experience with auto-pay, further exacerbated by their return call policy to avoid long phone waiting....no one ever called.
