We had a fun, enjoyable and informative tour provided by our tour guide Jim on our hop on hop off bus in Philadelphia. The staff at the stops were helpful and easily engaged. After we had completed our tour and we were at a stop at the Church of Christ burial ground, we heard a hello from a distance - it was our tour guide Jim who was calling out to us and waving to us from his tour bus. What a delight that was! Highly recommend this approximately 90 minute tour.
Great way to see Philly. We rode the whole tour the first loop to get a feel for the city and learn the history and then hopped on and off after. The tour guides were all very knowledgeable and entertaining. It was great to be able to visit so many sites and not have to worry about driving through traffic and parking at each stop. I highly recommend this tour.
This absolutely made our quick vacation to Philly worth every penny!!! I wish I could remember the name of our tour guide but he was amazing and so funny. Had a Beatles mask. However, I would wait for the red and yellow buses because they are collaborating with another company whose tour guides and buses are not as good.
This was my boyfriend and I first time in Philadelphia and I saw this tour on Google. It was probably one of the best tours I’ve been on. We loved the fact that you could hop on and off to take pictures and explore the area. It was a great way to get the most out of the tour plus our guide was so sweet and funny!! Highly recommend 1000/10!!
It was really easy to book. Took a little searching to find exactly where the tour began and where to get onboard, but got it done. Very informative and presented info with enthusiasm to hold our attention. Some people did not wear mask on the bus even though it says it was required. That made me a little uncomfortable but we kept our mask on and enjoyed the ride.
Excellent tour/tour guides--informative and funny/entertaining. Also, the bus is taller than the other bus tour in town so you have better views. And the customer service was fantastic. The sales person at the beginning was helpful and informative and the manager, Lisa, was amazing at handling a difficulty we had and she couldnt have been nicer. HIGHLY Recommend!
Good tour with many stops but it runs a limited schedule right now. Last bus at some stops is 4pm even though the attraction doesnt close until 5. So its easy to get stranded at some of these. Hard to use it for hop on and off with this type of schedule.
This is an awesome way to see the city! The staff was extremely courteous and helpful. I was traveling with my 86 year old Dad and they answered any questions I had about their tour. I think the thing I appreciated the most was we wanted to see one more site and it was close to their stopping point, told us there would be one more bus which I thought wouldn’t show since we were now past the cutoff time and true to their word and bus came and we weren’t stranded! Thanks for making our trip memorable!
Excellent Tour! Our guide was awesome and so full of so much knowledge! Didnt stop for a second because he had so much to share about Philadelphia, its building, and history!
My boyfriend flew in from Florida to visit so I figured this was the best way to show him all of the historical landmarks. Service was great and the tour guide was funny. We didnt get to see the Rocky Steps or Love Park because of the Made In America concert but that was beyond their control.I would def recommend.
The tour was just okay. The first half of the day the tour guide was excellent very informative pointed out certain attractions that we were not aware of. When we boarded again on one of the Hop off and hop on the tour guide did not really engaged too much did not give us as much information as the first tour guide so theyre not Instinct theyre not on the same page. The tour was also shorten we miss like seven stops. Ive been on the Big Red Bus tour and I found that to be so much better so definitely this one I will not be doing again
The company was great. However, the day we went our tour was cut in half due to a concert that was happening and yet we still had to pay full price. Also, we went on a Sunday and weren’t aware that some attractions would be closed on a Sunday. I feel like the price should be different if that’s the case.
The double decker bus tour is a great way to see a city in a day. The tour guides are very knowledgeable, friendly and funny. The wait time for the buses wasn’t long and they had almost 30 different stops around the city. We were able to stop off at Reading Market Terminal for lunch which was awesome and walk down to the next pickup point near City Hall. It’s definitely better than trying to drive and park around Philly!
Your customer services were delivered excellent asked to be picked up at hotel and your driver responded with professionalism and very personable. Needed to leave your early and you came a picked us up couldn’t believe we were treated so well. Tour itself was a fantastic way to see your city in a short time. Definitely recommend it!
Katie was our tour guide, Jerry our driver, on Friday, September 24th. This is our first trip to Pennsylvania and Katie was great- we learned so much history of the city, plus she was funny and entertaining! Would definitely recommend Philadelphia Sightseeing Tours!
Knowledgeable guides. They had to do some if the tour on the fly due to a detour caused by a parade. A little disappointing that we missed some sights from the route, but not the companys fault.
The Guides were incredibly knowledgeable and seemed to really enjoy sharing every historical detail! Fascinating City!
I was looking forward to this tour when my father visited Philadelphia for the first time. I valued the diverse languages offered as this is something that was lacking from other tours/offers only offered in English. Unfortunately, we were “welcomed” by a tour guide who appeared annoyed by our cultural diversity and us asking questions delaying the departure of the bus that did not include headphones and language translation. We started off on the wrong foot and we were not alone. A Colombian family of 3 appeared to struggle with the same unfortunate situation. As soon as we got to a stop to transition to one of the buses that had language translation, we did! Needless to say we did not leave a tip. The red double decker offered individually wrapped headphones that unfortunately did not work after connecting to multiple outlets. Although the views and second tour guide were fantastic, my family could not enjoy visiting such a diverse city for the first time. They were definitely not included.I would not recommend this tour if you are looking to learn in your native language and your English proficiency is emerging.
All in all this was a great way to see the city. The tour directors were very knowledgeable. Tge only thing I wish is that the bus came to the stops more frequently, waiting a half hour or more wasnt great. Other than that, this was a great experience!
Great way to see the city! The guide was entertaining and knowledgeable at the same time. I would suggest making this one of your first stops, ride the whole line and then pick where you want to visit from there.
Our tour guides were very entertaining with several anecdotal comments in addition to the tour related information they shared. There were so many interesting facts and sights pointed out, at times youd miss snagging a picture of a significant spot simply because the bus has to keep moving with traffic. The drivers were incredibly skilled at maneuvering the narrow, busy streets. We would highly recommend this tour and to take advantage of getting off at several stops and using the entire day to get the most of your ticket.
Had a blast. Guide was funny and informative. Driver amazed us with his skills to manage those tight corners and crowded streets with cars parked on both sides. All in all great value for your money.
We loved our day on the bus! I took my 11 year old son and his friend out for the day and we rode the bus from 9:30am to 5:00pm. I lost track of how many times we hopped off to get up close to what we wanted to see or explore more. The guides were helpful and shared lots of great information as we rolled through the city!
I have to say this was one of the best tours I have ever been on the tour guide was absolutely phenomenal. Gina and her team in the booking office were an extreme help with everything from finding a hotel to explaining the tour to helping us understand the entire city of Philadelphia. She was absolutely amazing. And our driver Kia on the shuttle was also absolutely informative the most Pleasant lady I have ever rode with and an absolute Joy. It was a great way to start our day. I would highly recommend Hop On Hop Off tours to anyone visiting Philadelphia. Just look for the big red busses.
The whole experience was fantastic. I called with questions, and the customer service was outstanding- friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. The outside ticket workers were also extremely friendly and helpful. The bus was clean, the onboard staff was awesome, and the every 25 minute show- up time was spot on!!Highly recommend this experience.
We were visiting from out of town. Lovely way to see Philadelphia and learn some history along the way. The people who we encountered and worked at the company were all friendly and professional. Tour guides were great, information guides also helpful. Will recommend this to anyone visiting Philadelphia. Thank you!Sally
Great way to get oriented to the city, especially in a nice day. Informative and fun!
Out guide Toni was so knowledgeable, as well as hilarious! I learned more on the tour than I did on another companys bus tour earlier that day. There were several places to sit and rest, and even a decent bathroom break. Thank you to Toni and the place for a pleasant evening!
Gives you a great overview Of the city. I love that you can hop on and off. The only downside was due to the heat of the day. Waiting the 20 minutes for a bus felt forever, because of the heat.Sitting downstairs in the AC of the bus- it was hard to see through some of the windows because they had an advertisement wrap on them.
On time, clean bus. Retired guide was very knowledgeable and funny. He said he did his own research of places to give good information and he delivered. Great way to see city attractions. My suggestion is to look up sites before arrival and buy a city pass that includes the tour and whatever else you want to visit. It’s cheaper to bundle.
Truly enjoyed the hop on hop off bus experience. Sophie, our guide, was incredibly knowledgeable and very entertaining! Max drove smoothly and even gave us a few extra minutes at the Rocky statue. Not only did we see and hear about all of the sites, but Sophie shared a lot of anecdotes that we didn’t expect to learn. We would highly recommend the Big Bus tour!
If you have only a day or two to see Philly man is this the way to go. Being from Chesapeake, Virginia and never been to this amazing city wow how much I learned in a hour and half. Listen recommend riding the complete route then come back to what you want to see most. The guides were amazing on each ride, and each have thier own way of telling and explaining this historical place. A 10 out of 10 for sure worth every dime!!
We enjoyed the tour and the knowledge the guide Nicole had about the area. We took advantage of the hop on hop off ability. We did notice some guides were not as good as Nicole. It was fine for us since we had her for the whole 90 minute tour in the morning. This service is a great way to see the sights and get around the city the rest of the day.
My granddaughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our Hop On Hop Off experience! We actually rode with three different guides and all three were very knowledgeable about the stops! We learned a lot about Philadelphia and wished we had planned two days instead of one! Several places we had planned to visit are closed on Monday & that was a shame but we had a great time and would come back again if we get a chance!
We decided to do this tour because of the convenience of being able to hop on and off. Key stops throughout Philadelphia but at the end of the day it was all about the person giving us the information about each spot and that was Samantha. She was excellent and delivered the info with humor. That made the difference between a good tour vs a great tour. Samantha made it great!! Tip your tour guides.
Tour start was convenient, bus was clean, guides were very informative.
Came to Philly for the day with a friend and decided to try the hop-on tour to get around the city. We were pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed the tour! We experienced two guides (we hopped-off for a while) and both were amazingly well versed in the history and present day happenings of the city.I would recommend this experience to anyone and will be looking for these tours in other cities from now on.
Very happy with our experience! Great tour and tour guide!
Great service! I was picked up at my hotel by Kia, who was very friendly and went the extra mile to make sure my tour went well. The guide on our bus told great stories, and knew the history of this amazing city. Thanks to all of the employees!
I’m so so so glad I decided to take this tour! Every single staff member was friendly, helpful, and informative. We chose to ride the full 1.5 he tour then hop-off-on the second time around to the locations we w finally wanted to spend a little time in. Buses come around every 20ish mins depending on time of day/traffic etc.Don’t miss out on a great tour opportunity! This is a great value for what you get. Will be using them again in other states.
Excellent tour! The guides were very knowledgeable and friendly. Buses were very clean and comfortable. Well worth the price. We would use this company again.
We have used city sightseeing hop on hop off in cities in multiple countries...we find it always informative. This trip was really great. We had a live guide who had great energy, good knowledge of the area and a very clear and fun way of presenting it. Its a great way to see the city in an overview and then decide what you want to go back and see more in depth.
The tour was excellent, route was very interesting and tour guide was very narrative And knowledgeable. I’ll pick the 3 days next time to be able to explore the farthest away places.
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, funny and very interactive with the passengers. The bus driver was very smooth and careful. Im from Philly, but I learned so much on this tour.
What a genuine pleasure to board the double decker bus! Jerry was exceptionally sweet, helping us board the bus… loved the history lesson and seeing the sites in a fun relaxed way! A few scary moments with low lying branches…Duck!!! Thank you, I would recommend you to anyone traveling to Philly😊
The booking and bus individuals were very helpful and informative, except for the fact that no one mentioned that many of the main attractions were closed on Monday and Tuesday, the two days we booked!
I did hop on hop off. Had three different guides that were very knowledgeable. I was passed by at two stops when I tried to get back on. Had brochure and ticket in hand. I continued to walk the route only about a mile then was picked up on third try. This could’ve been a problem for some people. Should do better watching for single riders wanting to get back in.
Qe loved the tour. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and funny. Best way to see all the sights of Philadelphia. Also a shuttle picked us up from our hotel to take us to stop 1 to print our boarding pass. Our driver was Kia and we loved her as well.
The tour guides were knowledgable, entertaining and interactive. A great way to see the sights in Philly!
What a great way to view and get a sense of a new area. We were able to then explore on our own. Our driver, Jerry, and tour guide (dont know his name) were extremely knowledgeble and entertaining!
My daughter and I had a wonderful time on the bus ride. We’re living in Philly but still benefited from the thorough guided tour!
The tour was great. We got a good overview of the city. Only one factor made it uncomfortable. The low hanging trees, etc. that we had to dodge throughout the tour made us unable to concentrate fully. That is a liability we hope you can resolve.
We have used Hop On Hop off in Chicago and New Orleans. What was lacking in Philadelphia was that neither the guides or the maps tell you what is at each stop. You don’t know what is in this stop, museum or that one. They seemed to be anxious to skip stops so they would say is anyone getting off here and not tell you what’s at the stop. We missed a stop and got off the next stop and walked back. We got on 4 buses so some were better than others - but all would skip a stop without telling you what’s at the stop. Since many of the attractions have closed since the pandemic or were not open on Monday’s, it was a short ride. They should stop at every stop and say what’s at the stop since it’s not obvious.
Its a pretty cool tour it stops at just about all the historic places. I recommend doing the whole tour before getting off & then deciding which stops u want to take & go to those stops.
We hade a great time and loved the tours. The best part is if you ride the bus several times with different guides you will learn something new. Will ride again.
I was in town with 2 of my children for a friends wedding. Having never been to the area and having just one day to sightsee I stumbled across this bus tour while searching online. It was a little rainy I. The afternoon but we put on the ponchos and had fun anyway. The tour guides were fun, knoweledgable, and friendly. We jumped off when we wanted to visit a location and then jumped on the next bus to continue the tour. Well worth every penny although the price was super reasonable. It was a great way to see a lot of the city in a short period of time. Highly recommend
The your guides were knowledgeable and pleasant. However, There are 28 stops but the are all in and around center city. Admittedly, they hit all or most of the historically significant locations. But, if you are looking to see the whole city, this is not the way to go it. Also, While there are opportunities to hop off at the various stops, if you are with a large group (there were 8 of us), it may be difficult to find a bus with adequate open seats. After stopping at stop 6 (Reading terminal market), we had to wait 30 minutes fir a bus to accommodate us. Finally, if you are sensitive to heat, dont go in the summer. The top deck is understandably hot as it is open and exposed to the elements, but the downstairs often had no air and the bus we rode that was air conditioned was subpar.
We had a wonderful time listening to the history of Philadelphia. I thought the bus drivers were amazingly talented turning and navigating on those narrow Philadelphia streets! The only major problem I had was that the company does not make it clear on their website that you MUST start the tour at the Bourse building or the Liberty Bell, even if you have purchased tickets on line. The tickets have to be confirmed and printed at these kiosks in order for you to be able to get on and off the buses. I could not find this information anywhere on the website where I bought the tickets. Luckily, the stop we started at had a phone number and we were helped by a wonderful women who let us know the procedure, got a hold of the bus coming our way and told them to pick us up.So, we experienced wonderful sights, fun history sharing and really good customer service!!P.S. if there is any way to get more buses post pandemic it is definitely needed, we couldn’t get on at one stop due to too many people.
It started off great, and I had heard good things. Some tour guide are better than others. I did learn a lot about Philly. But they said their last bus departure time was 5 pm. We got off around 3:45 at avenue of the arts and never saw the bus again. The bus ran right by our hotel, but we ended up having to Uber home because they never came back. Was cheesy and fun, but totally unreliable.
Can’t say enough good things! Our tour guide was amazing (I think it was Ernest?) he knew so many things about the city and was so charismatic. And our driver, Tamara, was great as well. Everyone we dealt with along the was was pleasant, kind, and professional, from calls to check-in. Great time, great people!
The overall Hop On Hop Off was sufficient to get the top sights covered. However I booked these on line for the following day and securing the tickets was extremely difficult. There was a voucher that was sent to my mobile device, but the driver of the bus couldnt accept as it wasnt the actual ticket. Completely unacceptable! My advice if you want a ticket just purchase at one of the ticket kiosk.
The only reason I am leaving this poor of a review is because 70% of our sightseeing on the bus was cut out due to concerts and such. We booked this date on line 3 plus weeks ago. There should have been a disclaimer that the tour was cut due to city activities. So we as a family 7 paid $36.00 a piece to see 30% of the city! The 7th person purchased theirs ticket the day of and was not given a discount. We did not know about the reduced sightseeing until we were on the bus and the tour guide brought it up in his speech.Rip offI suggest looking to see if there are any events happening to impede the sightseeing bus before purchasing your ticket or just wait and purchase at the time and ask before you buy.
We spend 1 day in Philly so decided for the Hop-in Hop-Off sightseeing to get a glance of the city and we are happy. The tour guides are knowledgeable. I definitely recommend it.
Not as bad as other made it out to be. The guide we had was very knowledgeable. Learned some interesting things about the city. The perception of off and on tour is a little ambiguous. It is more a you get off tour then get on another bus later.Didnt care for the people who worked at the main location to board. They didnt communicate effectively.
Delightful and knowledgeable tour guide.(Katie)Driver Tamara is a real pro.
The company was very efficient and the guides were extremely knowledgeable and very courteous to the customers. We learned a lot about the city and would highly recommend a newcomer to Philly to definitely take this tour. Money well spent!
The tour guide was so knowledgeable, friendly and funny!! A very smart individual. We enjoyed him so much we didn’t want to get off. That being said, at the end of our ride we waited and spoke to guide while still in our seats, the ne t thing we are being told, harshly by another employee to get off as he had to clean. Understood Howe Er his attitude doesn’t reflect well on your business.
Ernest was a energetic, funny tour guide. Great way to see all the landmarks efficiently if you don’t have days to explore.
My friend and I were in Philly for 24 hours and decided to take the city tour. I’m so glad we did as it was the highlight of our trip! I would recommend it to anyone, especially at the beginning of your trip because it will help you decide where you want to go and what you want to see for the rest of your trip. The tour guides were funny and awesome and it was just a great experience all around!
The communication was great. The pricing was great.I actually never made it onto a bus, and ended up on the other companies buses everytime.Odd, but how it happened
I bought two tickets, one for spanish and the other for portuguese guidance. The multi system language never works in no one unit we took! You must advise the tour is only in English. When somebody take different language expect certain historical references of the place and the country you are discovering. There’s not the case.
This was a fun experience for our first visit to Philadelphia! Brandon was awesome and we learned so much from the tour. I have a new respect for Benjamin Franklin and didn’t know he did so much! Also, when he says “duck” you better listen!
Very informative, all of the tour guides were professional, well informed & personable. The price was a good buy for a 1 day ticket.
First, the scan code did not work. We ended up walking all over trying to find help. Couldnt understand what the guide was saying most of the time. The microphone seemed to be poor quality or in need of repair. No cleaning protocol in place at all. Just a quick wipe down is better than nothing at all.
This was out third time touring family around Philly. Unfortunately it was not as good as last year - the tour guide seemed extremely knowledgeable but we could not make out anything he said - hard to understand on the microphone and we did not have time to go back on a 2nd round to hear another person. After getting off, we called to see when the next bus was coming, but could not get an answer so ended up walking back to our car. Very disappointing experience this time, which is sad as our son did not get to see the city.
Our trip was cut short by 2 hours due to the flooding.. However we never got a refund and we were never told up front that it would be a 2 hour removal of services
Super easy ticket purchase by phone. Email confirmation and free shuttle pick up from hotel yo tour bus. Our driver Kenny was great.
We are senior citizens and didn’t appreciate getting a room assignment next to a much younger crowd who decided to lock one of their friends out in the middle of the night. This you g man decided to knock excessively on the door and eventually started kicking it. Needless to say it woke us up and it was impossible to go back to sleep. Not smart scheduling at the check in counter. They had 28 floors of rooms to pick from. Honestly.
Tour left on time. It is a hop on hop off tour, however if you actually do things in the city, you need atleast 2 days on this tour. We hopped off at the Franklin Institute and stayed there 3 hours. Then got off at Reading Terminal market where we spent atleast another hour. The tours stop at 5 and you need to be back at the meeting place by then to get your car, so its definitely not possible to visit many stops at once when its only 10am to 5pm. Tour itself was great.
Awesome tour guides! Very informative and funny. Jerry was our driver and for the life of me I cannot remember the tour guides name but he was so animated, funny, and kept the tour interesting. Older African American gentleman who is prior service Army. We will definitely be using this tour service again next time were in Philly. My only complaint was that I wish they had a cover on their double decker buses as some of the other tour buses had. That 30° weather and wind at the top will make it feel more like 15°. Again minor complaint as long as you bundle up or stay on the first level.
My wife and I enjoyed our Red bus tour with great commentating on all the point of interest and historical places in Philadelphia! Thank you…
Loved it! Great tour of the city by night. Our guide was very nice and knowledgeable. The driver was super nice!
A great way to get an overview of the city whether you are just visiting or are a local.Pros:1. Lot’s of stops for an easy on / hop off. (Saves driving or Ubering around.)2. Knowledgeable and friendly narrators.3. Good value for the money.4. Plenty of room.Cons:1. There seemed to be some confusion about web purchase of tickets. We showed the QR code and evidence of payment on our phone. No issue at the first two hop ons. Third hop on insisted we needed to show a paper ticket. Someone came on with a scanner and got it straightened out. That should be made clearer.2. Learned that the other city tour buses accept our pass as well. If another couple didn’t tell us that we would have waited much longer for the red bus.
Informative and easy way to see Philly! Friendly and helpful attendants,
Everything worked out on this city tour of Philly. Parking options were easy, check in point was easy to find, your started on time, tour guide was knowledgeable and plenty of opportunities to take pictures. Being from Virginia, We learned alot of good things about Philadelphia we didnt know.
We really enjoyed the tour guides and the ability to stop at any of the stops and catch a later bus to continue our tour.
Waste of time and money! Talked too much about getting tips. No substance, expensive boring.
Took the tour with William and it was AWESOME!! So much incredible history here
Great tour! Tour guides were so much fun!
It was ABSOLUTELY great and well worth the money!! I was a little hesitant at the bad reviews but I found out if you follow procedure/directions/rules there is NO problems at all! We took a day tour and from the moment we checked in until we got off at the end of the day ALL the staff was super friendly/helpful/ knowledgeable/fun/exciting!!!! We got off two-three times and the pick up was always back around in a decent amount of time! Highly recommend this to save the hassle and stress of walking and planning your own tour of the city!!
The gentleman speaking during the tour was knowledgeable and interesting. It was easy to get on and off.
We took the Franklin Footsteps Walking Tour. Our guide, Clarke DeLeon was so knowledgeable and entertaining! He really made history come alive for us.
The guides were kind and insightful the tour took you to historic places and introduces you to the city
Hottest day in Philly but your tour guides made it enjoyable!! Great way to see such a Beautiful City!!
Best way to see and learn about the city! Tour guide was informative and funny!
The tour guy was phenomenal had much knowledge and explained so many great things in detail
The tour guides were very knowledgeable and made my trip enjoyable.
It was fun and learned a lot. Thanks Toni the tour guide!
My mother came from Baltimore and wanted to see the landmarks of Philadelphia.. this was a great tour for her… minus the low laying trees
Our tour guide and driver( two ladies one’s name was Dwanda ) was amazing! The speaker was very friendly and professional, while the driver took her time and allowed us to take pictures.
