I sent one of my employees over to get a key copied that actually had their logo on it from a previous visit. She returned saying she spent 15 uncomfortable minutes in the shop, only to be told they could not find a key that matched. I called the store and they claimed to not know what I was talking about. I went in a couple of days later and had a copy of the key made with no problem. When I asked why they would not make the key for my employee, they again said they didn’t know what I was talking about, and the owner who made the key claimed he was not working that day. When I asked my employee who waited on her, her description clearly match the owner. A short older man on a crutch. You don’t get that mixed up. As a small business owner, I take reviews like this very seriously, and you should take this one that way too.

Theyve had my door handle for 3 weeks now. Still couldnt make a key for it. Now I come to pick it up on Saturday and hes sitting in the store yelling that they are closed. I just want me door handle back. Worse customer service experience ever.

Believe it or not, but these people picked the locks on my building to let in a woman who did not live there! Yes, they let a squatter in, and even went to my fuse box and turned on the electric for her, while at the same time, turning off the centrally monitored fire, smoke and radon alarm system, putting the rest of the tenants in danger in the event there had been a fire!They never checked to get proof that she lived there. Cost me $325 in materials to replace the locks they ruined!! Wanna a new car? Call these people, theyll break into the vehicle and you can drive away! I am reporting them to the police for breaking and entering!!

I called ahead and asked if I can get a key made with just the key code. My key broke in my master lock and I was told by master lock it was more cheaper to have a locksmith make the key. Cause of the obscene delivery prices for their keys to be sent to me. So after confirming with west Philadelphia locks on the phone that they can make my key I drove there. Upon arrival even though I was the only person in the store I was ignored for 5/140 minutes before acknowledging my existence. Then was extremely rude unhelpful and told me he couldnt make the key that I called and asked for before even coming there. Ill never go back or recommend them ever!!!

I had a bad experience with another locksmith and then went here. Christopher came to the house and in about 30 minutes had changed the lock on my garage that the other guy claimed couldnt be done because it was a special lock and the cost was reasonable. Great job

On Monday, July 6 at approximately 12:30 PM I entered the West Philadelphia locksmith Co. store located at 31 S.42nd St. it was a very unpleasant experience, very unprofessional and very unwelcoming. The person standing behind the counter was very snobby, he never offered any customer service. I explained to him that I needed to have a lock examined, he then THREW a ticket at me to be filled out for his service. This review is similar to Mr. El review approximately 11 months ago in which the people working in this store does not RESPECT Black customers in his store. I felt very uncomfortable knowing how he treated me and possibly other people I’m determined to never support his business and if anyone might want to consider supporting his business maybe we should boycott his business he doesn’t deserve our black dollars from this point on he does not know how to treat people and it looks like Black people in particular. This wasas my experience today.

A call for service was put in at 1pm. I was told they would be there by 2pm. At 2:15pm I placed another call and was told they would be at my location. At 4pm I placed another call and the business closed at 3pm. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! One truthful phone call is what every customer deserves

I went there a few times to have keys made. I had a very good experience using their service.

Had two sets of keys made, very fast service, the man who made the keys answered some questions I had about another type of key, and gave me some good options. Very courteous and professional. Lots of key covers to choose from, and blank keys with cute designs were also available for purchase.

Service is not particularly expedient, but its local and the keys are dependable!

Fast service, key copying is cheaper here than anywhere else Ive gone.

If I could give this place a zero star rating I would... NONE of the keys ever work! For all of the money they charge (more than other places) you’d think they’d work exceptionally well, lol. Stay away for your own good

Nice people, very professional, and VERY competent at what they do! I had two difficult jobs at hand: duplicating a six-cylinder Corbin key and making a making a new key from a twisted, broken, old high-security key that Id lost the duplicate for. I tried several places with no help for either problem. West Philly Locksmith duplicated my six-cylinder key in about 30 seconds for about $2 (might have been three... all I remember is that it was less than Id expected!) and kept the broken key overnight. The next day they called me to say theyd made a new key, and the charge was $8 for a project Id actually never expected anyone to do for less than $20! And both keys worked BETTER than the originals ever had.... NO idea how they managed to do THAT!Highly recommended!Michael McFadden

This locksmith company is wonderful, they can make duplicates of keys most locksmiths do not have equipment to duplicate, my key was a Schlage Everest key, they sell safes large and small, it is a great store.

The customer service is deplorable!!! The neighborhood is changing, and I honestly believe that they are trying to discourage Black people from coming to their store. They established their business with BLACK dollars prior to this neighborhood experiencing these changes, and now that white people are moving in by the boatloads, they treat black people like they are nothing. I will never ever be a patron of this establishment ever again, and I also suggest that black people think twice before giving these disrespectful people your hard earned money ever again.

BEST. PLACE. TO GO. I have needed there service so many times Ive got them on speed dial and they were quick fast and reliable Im very grateful for the job they did. Ive never been so scared of my children locking themselves in the bathroom and these men came to my rescue. Ive been locked out. Ive got my house taken care of as soon as I bought it. Ive even got new doorknobs for each door in my house and Ive never been happier. I love talking to the owner phill, and the guy John has talked about having 9 kids the other guys are amazing with outgoing personality and great sense of humor. !!!!BEST PLACE TO GO

I was in the store on Monday to have some keys made, I had been to several places before but somehow the key I have is not common so I tried here.A man named Chris helped me and it turned out he was the same person that had opened my front door in an emergency last month.Once again he was very polite and helpful, although while looking for the key on a wall of hundreds of keys an older man(I assume the owner) came of and called him a moron, ( as well as some other horrible names). Anyway, Chris found my key and also cut and programmed a chipped key for my car. In the few minutes I was there I witnessed him helping customers, answering the phones, dispatching other techs on a two way radio, programming chipped keys, and he repaired a storm security lock while the customer waited next to me.The entire time he juggled all of these duties he was being abused by the owner to an extent like I have NEVER seen an employee abused.And the entire time he STILL kept a smile on his face while dealing with everyone there. It seems that there regular customers only want to deal with him because I witnessed several wait specifically to deal with only him. I have a feeling that this nice man will be working at another locksmith soon, because he is way too nice, polite,and hardworking that another locksmith wont snatch him up...5 stars for ChrisZero for the mean man!!!

This place is definition of poorly run small business. Have used them for 10 years but after today, no more. Needed a lock repaired and they never showed for appointment. After calling back for 1.5 hours, they conceded that they screwed up. That and some bad keys made make them duds.

I really dont like giving bad reviews but this experience was so disapointing :( I dropped off my keys- was told they would be ready the next day and when I took an Uber ( money wasted) back the next day, I was told the guy hadnt made the keys and wouldnt be back until Monday. I really prefer to support a mom and pop establishment like this one instead of a kiosk. Therefore I hope this review inspires better business practices.

I called this compamy because my purse was stolen from my car during my morning yoga glass. When I called I was so upset, but they took my info and said a tech would call me back. About ten minutes later a Technician named Chris called me to verify my address, and I asked him that I was outside and feeezing. He said he understood and to just hang on because I am some distance from the shop, now I dont know if he has a helicopter or just caught every green light in a row, but he was at my house in less than 15 minutes AND he brought me a hot cup of coffee!!. He opened my doors in less than two minutes and just went to work on my locks. He fixed them so the old keys didnt work, but a new set of keys did, without me having to spend the money on new locks and on top of that, instead of having a key for my security door, one for the front, one on the rear, and one on the garage....he made them ALL work on one key.AMAZING!!!. He was done the entire job in about a half hour. I would absolutely recommend using this shop 100%, and I dont know if they allow you to ask for a Technician, but if they do Chris was terrific.5++ stars

These guys were supposed to do a job for me for $300 that included 3 knobs, a deadbolt, and 25 keys. They charged $770 to my property management account with no communication whatsoever. When I tried to dispute it, the owner repeatedly got upset with me and failed to return my phone calls. After 3 months, they finally refund me, only $97, and left me with almost $400 in the hole. Why would I spend almost $800 on locks? Awful customer service and worst experience Ive had in my life.

I have been doing business with them for a while here and there, but this time is a shock to me.Dropped off a key and cylinder to get re-pin. Its been almost a week and no call from them. First time I called the lady told me maybe Tomorrow it will be done.Few more days later (into next week) ETA? Answer was I dont know were busy.I run a business too and I cant see someone can treat customer like they do.Everyone in there seems to be in a bad mood or somethingBeen doing business with them for more than 7 years but never again.

Owner has a no-nonsense style, not exactly warm and fuzzy, but is really good at his chop. Keys made well that work on first try.

Would give 0 stars if possible: I asked the younger locksmith at the counter for a key duplication and for a stamping on the duplicate key. He then told an older locksmith, presumably the business owner, what I needed. In about 5 minutes the older locksmith gives me the original key and the duplicate key without the stamping. After paying for the key duplication, I politely ask about the key stamping again. At this moment the older locksmith starts yelling at me with profanity-laced language saying that I should have asked earlier and that he doesn’t do key-stamping anymore. (I specifically came here for the key stamping at the suggestion of a friend, who got his done a couple of days earlier). After politely asking again, he did so but with extreme reluctance and disrespect. I didn’t need him to be nice to me, I just want some respect (especially considering how I’m interested in a service of his). I would highly recommend going to another locksmith.

In and out in less than 5 minutes, EXTREMELY reasonable, service with a smile... and the key works perfectly!

It took 20 minutes one out of thee man to notice me needing their service. but when I asked him to copy my keys he said he was busy while he was doing nothing!!! ignorant and unprofessional. I tried the keys, and they don’t even work!!! I suspect that they have a problem with African Americans since I am just finding out a friend of mine had a similar experience. Never going back, and I strongly suggest you do the same. If you need any locksmith services, please go anywhere else besides here.

Good locksmiths, a bit grumpy. Ive been here many times over the years. They get the job done, but are very grumpy, old school customer service ;-). The only other complaint are their limited store hours.
