I was really anxious about finding a good tailor as I had recently moved to Philly and had no idea where to start. I had to get a dress tailored for a wedding and (being in the bridal party) it had to go well. I had a cheap dress bought online and since it took 6 weeks to arrive the alterations had to be done fairly quickly, and I had no time for mistakes. He was able to transform this cheap dress (with tricky material) into a dress that fit me like a glove!!! The dress was way too large as I had also lost weight and needed some hemming with tricky pleated chiffon. When I got the dress back you couldnt even tell where the adjustments had been made. I feel like the hemmed bottom elevated the dress and made it look more expensive than it actually was! Truly a miracle worker! He was always kind and personable and walked me through each step. He also makes sure you try on the items and ensures your satisfaction before you leave. He took extra time (with permission) to hem the dress meticulously and ensured that it would be perfect (taking into consideration that the wedding is on the beach). I will go nowhere else and highly recommend!!
I am new to the city and convenience of location made me call the wardrobe doctor initially. He exceeded any expectations I had. I was so impressed by his quick response. He requested photos of my dress (which had a torn seam) via text and gave me a quote in minutes, not only that but when I met him to give my dress for fixing, he took care of it on the spot and reduced his initial quote as well. If I ever have a wardrobe malfunction in the future, I will be back. Highly recommend!
Ive only ever had my clothes slightly altered by local dry clean shops. But I knew for my wedding that wasnt going to be good enough. But I also didnt know where to start. So I literally Googled best tailor Philadelphia, and the top result was a Philadelphia Magazine article listing Wardrobe Clinic as the best in the city. So I called them. Ron answered, and immediately made an appointment with me just a few days later and said he could do the turnaround in a couple of weeks.I got my suit from Bonobos and already thought it looked pretty good, but I had NO idea how much better suits can be, especially in the hands of someone like Ron. You can call or text him any time, and I dont think I ever had to leave a voicemail. He was very responsive. At first, I think I thought his prices were a little high, but if you compare each individual service he does on a suit, and the quality--its a steal. He does more tweaks to garments than your typical dry cleaners or generic tailor would, and the quality of work is amazing. But the real magic was Ron himself. He is kind, engaging, knowledgeable, and strikes the perfect balance between the Ill do whatever you want kind of professional, and the I can guide you and suggest things to make this look even better type.I *think* most people probably take a garment in and have only one round of alterations done and theyre happy. I was so indecisive, though--not knowing about how clothes ought to fit and changing my mind about how I wanted it to fit. Ron was incredibly patient with me. I went back three times to get little tweaks, and one time was even after he offered to let me take it home and just situ with it for a bit. He willingly took it back and did a couple more things. And it was all included in the original price for the alterations. And it all paid off. I still dont think Ive ever, in my entire life, looked as good as I did on my wedding day (I didnt hold a candle to the bride, but thats as it should be). I even had Ron do a second suit for me. This guy is my tailor, as long as hes in business, and I wont even think of going anywhere else.In short, Ron and the Wardrobe Clinic are old school professionals that know what theyre doing and treat their work as a true craft in which they take great pride, and they treat their customers as real humans. They care for you and your garments and make you feel really good about your decision to use them. I see others here have had occasional bad experiences. That happens in every business, and I hope and trust each of those things got resolved. But as for me, it seems that Ron and Wardrobe Clinic are, across the board, the best tailoring in Philly.COVID-19 Note: I had all this work done in the Summer and Fall of 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic. Ron was safe and masked at all times, and requested that I and my fiancée were as well. He was incredibly conscientious and considerate, and even made face masks out of leftover material from my suits so theyd match!
I stumbled upon the Wardrobe Clinic by mistake, and it is safe to say that I am so thankful I did! I needed a rush alteration on a dress and my usual tailor was unavailable, so I went straight to Google to see where the nearest available tailor was. I called the Wardrobe Clinic because of its great location and awesome reviews, and they said they could have my dress back to me the next day! They were quick, professional, friendly, and most importantly, the dress looks amazing. I will refer them to anyone who asks me for tailor recommendations.
Ron is my SAVIOR! I called him on a Thursday night asking if he could alter my dress by early Saturday morning for a wedding and he had it done by the next day! It fits beautifully and I couldn’t be more thankful for him! Will definitely be returning
Ron saved the day for me! I had a wedding I was in this past week and the person that was originally supposed to alter my dress couldn’t do it. Ron was able to alter my dress within hours of dropping it off! He was extremely kind, quick, and produced high quality work! I will definitely return in the future! If you are looking for a great tailor choose the wardrobe clinic! You won’t regret it! Thanks again!
I called Wardrobe Clinic to inquire about having some jeans taken in at the waist and could not be happier with the experience! Mr. Wilch is very professional but also very kind and accommodating. When I went to drop off my pants there was a power outage in his part of the building but he was determined to get everything taken care of since I travelled from U City to get there. I picked up the pants after the weekend and when I noticed one pair still seemed a bit big he had his assistant take them in an extra inch right then and there. Im so pleased with my jeans and will definitely be back!
WHEN you go to this location just know that the door is on the Locust Street side of the building next to ESTIA. THE SERVICE IS EXCELLENT FRIENDLY AND ACCOMMODATING
I took a suit that was passed down to me from my great-grandfather that was extremely old and many sizes too large for me. Ron did an excellent job bringing this suit back to life and giving it a modern fit. I did not know what to expect when I brought this suit in as I was not sure if anything could be done to make it work for me, but my expectations were exceeded. I will definitely be bringing all my suits here in the future!
Ron altered my husbands suit, and did a fabulous job! We were very pleased with what he did and his suggestions on how it should be altered to best fit him.
The customer service is amazing. Ron is very professional. The alterations are same day, fast and easy I highly recommend coming here!!!
I went to the Wardrobe Clinic for alteration on my wedding tuxedo. I couldnt recommend them more. Ron was professional, communicative, affable and did great work.
Ron and his assistant were absolutely attentive towards what I wanted in my clothes. They fixed up my pants and skirts really well in a great amount of time. I definitely recommend this shop for any alteration inquiries. Ron runs his shop really well and is flexible with budgeting. Two things that matter when you want your clothes to fit PERFECTLY and dont have $1K to spend when you already spent it on clothes.
Ron got us in same day and did my simple dress alteration within an hour while we had a cup of coffee! He was friendly, professional, quick and affordable. Will definitely use this service again.
Mr. Wilch does not adhere to his own deadlines, he is unprofessional, his work is mediocre and rushed. I paid in full for several work dresses to be taken in. He promised to have them ready for a final fitting after one and a half weeks, but delayed it because it wasnt a good time, then again because he was coming into the city late. I had to reach out again, multiple times before getting a response from him, begging for a day and time to come in so I could retrieve my clothing. Finally after the first fitting, (three weeks after my initial visit) I was forced to return several more times because most of the clothing was ill-fitted and poorly done, nothing like what hed initially told me hed be able to do. It seems like hed let the items sit around and then rush them together when the deadline came close. Once, I was forced to sit in the hallway for 15 minutes outside the door of his business because hed just taken a girl who was late, before my appointment which I was on time for. I was even forced to ask for a refund for one dress because it still looked so bad. Hed have kept the money otherwise, knowing that the quality of his work was unsatisfactory and starkly contrasted what he said he would do. Finally, after having visited 3 times previously, his assistant was supposed to set me up to come pick up the last two pieces one week out after making a few minor changes to more mediocre work that hed probably expected me to overlook. I came on time, ONE WHOLE week later, and the dresses were untouched. He told me the assistant never put me in the schedule so he didnt do anything to them. I was so frustrated that I made him drop them off to me at my job the next day because I refused to come back another time, (which also goes to show how much time he really only needed.) The entire experience from start to finish was painstakingly tedious and grossly unprofessional. Not to mention that most of the final product was not even worth the time or money spent. Take them both elsewhere.
I Appreciate This Guy & His Business Soo Much! Why?Because I Had A Wedding To Attend& Close To The Wedding Date, Ron Altered My Suit Perfectly Just In Time.... I Recommend Anyone Who Wants Speedy & Quality Service
I brought in three dresses for alterations and two pleated skirts to be pressed and hemmed. They all came out perfectly and were done in about a week! Highly recommend to anyone in need of a tailor!
Ok so before I get into it, DO NOT spend your money with him and here’s why....I had a very simple job, for him to put two patches on some shirts. I marked where I wanted the patches he didn’t put them in the correct place. Then the work itself was just sloppy and he took no pride in it.He quoted me one price, but then tried to over charge me thinking I wouldn’t notice. The overall experience left me feeling like he didn’t listen to anything and was just out to take my money. My patches were crooked and for something that was very simple turned out to be disaster. I was better off going to the local cleaners. That’s my experience and reasons why I recommend you take your money elsewhere.
This man cannot be trusted. Do not leave anything important with him unless you like to gamble. I am shocked he is still in business with the allegations I have seen in other reviews.I know he took my money to alter my wedding dress, and did nothing I asked. I picked it up the last day I could, to find nothing I asked was done. He lied again and offered to pay for someone else to do it. The worst part is this was 1 month after deadline, and he had no decency to let me know in time to even find anyone else.I pray karma gives this man what he deserves.
Had a really great experience here! I had a really last-minute request, but they were so accommodating and flexible, and did a really great job with the tailoring!
I have taken 3 or four pieces to Ron and his crew and been very happy each time. From basic pant hemming to more elaborate fittings everything has been great. If youre looking for something more than a dry-cleaner who also does some tailoring this is the place to go.
My experience with Ms. Shirl was awesome. I had contacted her about my wedding dress a month before my wedding and she happily excepted my dress! Her prices were affordable and she did everything I asked. The dress was altered to perfection and made me so happy. Ms shirl is so sweet and funny you will love her just as much as I did I am so grateful that she was able to alter the dress in such a short amount of time!
A foster dog liked zippers a little too much and destroyed the complicated two-way zipper on my favorite (and very expensive) North Face winter coat. Needless to say I was devastated. I took the coat to multiple tailors, all of whom said the damage would irreparable but also would not switch out the zipper because it was too complicated. Thankfully Ron was up to the challenge -- the zipper was replaced, holes patched, and it was as good as new just in time for winter. Forever thankful to Ron and his team for their willingness to take on this project!
Did a real good job !!!! I got my jeans altered 1pm it was done at 2:30 not to mention this was minute and he fit me in !!! I will always go back
Ron does a great job. He listens to your requests and offers helpful suggestions. He understands what is fashionable and strives to make you look great in your clothes. Highly recommended
These guys are the real deal. Very friendly, and professional and able to make alterations on short notice with fast turnaround. I found my go to spot for all my wardrobe needs.
Imagine the horror of splitting your dress seam open and practically mooning everyone at a black tie wedding mass on a Saturday. Qualifies as an absolute emergency. The guys at Wardrobe LLC took me in right away and had the dress sewed up in under ten minutes- couldnt even tell a difference. Crisis averted. Literally these guys saved the day and the price was all too reasonable. Will be back!
Great tailor had a lot of jeans dresses shirts and other items made so much better here thank you!! Will definitely keep coming back even though we live in Alabama lol
My daughter had a bridesmaids dress altered here and they forgot about it and it wasnt ready when she went to pick it up. They then quickly rushed it and did a completely uneven hem. Totally wasted money.
Great Quality an professional service!
He retaliated because I wouldnt go out with him, and he never completed any of the services I paid for. There are so many serious issues with this place; I have no idea where to start.I brought several items to Ron on my first appointment. He said everything would be ready for a second fitting in about two weeks. During this initial appointment, Ron casually mentioned taking me out for dinner or lunch. I did my best to politely shrug him off, and I thought that was the end of it.Our next appointment was scheduled for Monday, November 12 at 4PM. When I got there, the door was locked, and no one was inside. I knocked a few times, texted the Clinic’s number, and called. No one answered. After almost 30 minutes, I left. The next day, no one contacted me to reschedule or apologize. I had to reach out to them to reschedule, and Ron simply told me that he “forgot and was very busy.”My rescheduled appointment/second fitting was set for Tuesday, November 27. When I arrived, some of the work was done on my clothes, but a lot of it wasn’t even started. Ron was supposed to let out a dress, a fee that I had already paid for, but when I got there, he told me for the first time that he couldn’t do it because “there was nothing to let out.”Ron was also supposed to take in the waist for a few pairs of pants from my first visit; they all needed additional alterations and we agreed that I would pick them up the following week.During that same appointment on November 27, I brought in jumpsuit to have altered. Ron offered to alter the jumpsuit for free, since he charged me for letting out the dress but failed to complete that service. I told him and his assistant that I absolutely needed the jumpsuit by December 8 because I was wearing it to an event. Ron charged me a $40 rush fee, and we scheduled yet another appointment for Thursday, December 6. Towards the end of our appointment, Ron asked me if he smelled like alcohol because he started “celebrating early” that day. I thought it was a pretty inappropriate question, but I tried to be polite and told him “no.”On Friday, November 30, Ron texted me from his personal cell and said “Hey J, r u out and about now? This is the wardrobe doctor on walnut street. Please reply if possible.” I assumed he was texting me about my clothes, but it turned out that he was actually hitting on me and asking me to go out with him. I politely turned him down. (Screenshot attached). On Thursday, December 6, I called the Wardrobe Clinic and asked Ron if my clothes were ready to pick up. He told me all of my clothes (the several items from my first visit AND my jumpsuit) would be ready at 5:30, our scheduled time. When I got there, he told me that my jumpsuit wasn’t ready and that he couldn’t have it ready by the 8th. He told me there was too much work to do and he wouldn’t be able to do it. I asked him several times why he didn’t tell me sooner that he couldn’t complete the work on time, and he responded by telling me to calm down. I reminded him that I spoke to him on the phone earlier THAT SAME DAY, and he told me all of my items would be ready. He just kept telling me that he didn’t want to argue. He completely screwed me over. I can’t return the $250 jumpsuit because he put a seam in it and removed the tag, AND I no longer have any more time to shop for my event. OH AND he never finished the alterations from my very first visit.I’m so utterly annoyed and angry. I feel like I was punished for turning down his advances. Obviously, I’m never going back._______________________________________________The owner responded to this review with a lie: of the 5 pieces I brought here, only one of them was completed. My dress still doesnt fit; he didn’t finish taking in 2 pairs of pants; and he never completed the work on my suit jacket. I attached photos for reference. Also, for the purpose of clarity, my wardrobe needs absolutely were not met. Customers dont appreciate being hit on and retaliated against, and they dont appreciate when tailors drink alcohol during fittings.
The wardrobe clinic saved the day! My best friend was getting married and some last minute family drama left her without a maid of honor. To make the best of a bad situation my other friend and I decided to stand in place of the brides sister so we needed matching dresses on a few days notice. Two days before the wedding we found two that were perfect except mine was way too long. That night I texted Ron on the emergency tailoring number provided on his website. Considering it was about 9pm I didn’t think I would recieve a response until the next morning but Ron got back to me within 10 minutes and we were able to set up a time for the following afternoon with a garauntee It would be ready for pick up within 24 hours of the appointment. Not only did Ron keep his word, I dropped the Dress of at 3:30pm Thursday and it was ready at noon on Friday, but he did an amazing job! The 3 layer hems hit perfectly on my heels and working with him was easy and fun even during a stressful and time sensitive situation. I would 100% reccomend the wardrobe clinic!
The absolute worst service expirance I have ever had...I went in on october 31st witb my Michael Kors blazer. I initally just needed it let out slightly and the sleeves shortend.Ron talked me into a bunch of other things. Including1. Re-working the sholders.2. Tapering the sleeves.3. Shortening the length of the jacket slighttlyAnd I than figured since he was doing all of the above. Mightaswell remove the pocket flaps... as I prefer jetted pockets. And hate when the flaps pull out.Total bill came to 209.00With a pick up of Nov 29th (1 day shy of a full month)I texted his assistant on monday the 27th. And was assured my jacket would be ready for pickup on the 29th as promised.3pm on the 29th I get a call from ron saying he hasnt finished it yet and asking if I could pickup on the 30th after 3pm insted. On the 30th I show up at 3:15.Not finished yet. Can you come back in 45 mins to an hourSure.Than 4:30 rolls around get another text.Pickup at 5:30OkThan. Sorry make it 6, or we can deliver to youWhen I get there ron tells me he only had yime to let it out,Do the sleeves,And pocket flaps. So after one month, over half of the work I paid him for is not complete. Funny. It was all the extras he talked me into that were incompleete... but the sleeve length and jacket width now fit fine.Ron asks me to come back next week and drop it back off to be completed agter my event. I say ok. Than i get home and start looking more closley at the jacket. The sleeve buttons are reattached like a 4 year old did it. And one of the pockets has an open seam.I sent pictures to Ron demanding a refund. Because now i need to take this jacket to somebody else so that they can hopefully correct the way he butchered this jacket. As of today. 3 days later. No response.Best of philly? Maybe if he is tailor to the blind
The Wardrobe Doctor Ron Wilch is a Master of his craft! I have countless last minute events and The Wardrobe Doctor was there to make sure my clothing was above standard! Thank you Wardrobe Clinic!!!
