So much history in this space. Incredible selection and reasonable prices. I was able to build floating bookshelves from some reclaimed wood I purchased on my first trip. Looking forward to going back for more creative finds.
I am not posting to be disrespectful, but people should know. This place is great to walk around on a weekend, it is not really a place to buy anything, It is very expensive. The area where the stained glass and wood pieces are stored are in a section of the building I was told was damaged in a fire. To see wood rotting away due to the rain or once beautiful stained glass windows without frames stacked on eachother is heartbreaking. They also have sinks, metal lawn furniture, and claw foot tubs out back so damaged by rust it would literally be impossible to repair.
The perfect spot for the architectural historian, the artistic type, and the high-end interior designer. In house custom millwork and furniture design and production as well. A Philadelphia gem.
This place is amazing. We bought reclaimed wood that we refinished into beautiful shelves. The people who run it are great. If youre looking for reclaimed wood, this is a great place to check out, but also if you like flea markets/antiquing, they have so many wonderful treasures for sale!
Awesome place to go when you don’t know what you need for a project. Full of inspiration and cool antiques. The staff there is super knowledgeable and super friendly. This is a must see for anyone into old artifacts, antiques, lumber, or just cool and weird stuff
Just by all the wonderful & positive things being said about your business I CANT WAIT to get there ... Im not to far so hopefully this weekend.... its 5am & your not open yet, I want to make sure due to Covid that you guys are open for business... See you soon!! ~Stephanie, Hatboro, PA
Very happy with custom project completed at my home. Everyone is very friendly and knowledgeable. It was a collaborative effort and they are a great team. Would definitely recommend and work with them again.
I stumbled on Philadelphia Salvage when I was looking for a door for our pantry. They then posted a really cool sink that caught my eye. I contacted them by phone and spoke to George. He was so incredibly friendly. Mind you it is about a 3 hour drive for me. I loaded up the next day which I didnt realize they were actually closed. However I walked right in the store & Martin and Brian didnt hesitate to help me out. I ended up with a super cool door that Ive received compliments on from every person that has walked into our house. The pedestal sink also came home with me. All of the items were priced to sell. Will be going back!! Great finds and fantastic customer service!
Very friendly gentleman greeted me when I entered. Excellent selection of items and artifacts. Vintage door knobs and hinges, for replacing or restoring your home. Many more items. I was amazed at the variety of items they had. Interior designers and crafts persons would find this place invaluable.
I wouldn’t recommend this place, I found it kinda funny that I called and asked if they would buy 10 old style doors. I was told that chances are I could donate them to the store lol so let me get this right, I donate you doors and you resell for $200 a doorResponse to ownerInventory doors and label justifies that markup ?? Last time I was there, doors are everywhere and still dirty. No computers to inventory your stock that I saw. I was told from an employee go over and look at the selection available. Nice response though, glad to see that the owner rather respond to a review then fix the issue. You won’t be around much longer. Can’t take a donation and then charge that kinda money
Very helpful. Great selection.
I had a great experience with my family at this one of a kind facility. Allen was very helpful and spent time with us answering questions. The supply of unique objects are just what I have been searching for which are St a very reasonable price. If you are eclectic and enjoy FYI projects this is the place for you!
We found and bought a great gift for our daughter, a beautiful Royal manual typewriter! The overall experience was fun and interesting. I think we spent the better part of an hour just browsing around the shop, looking at all the wonderful reclaimed goods.Fun time, will definitely go again.
I found Philadelphia Salvage through their Instagram page and ordered a piece online; I could not be happier with my transaction! They shipped promptly and their customer service was impeccable. I’ll definitely be ordering again...check them out!
Took a ride down to their shop to check it out. What a great place! Worth the drive, they had a bunch of fantastic finds, and its always changing as they get new salvage in. Great bunch of people to hang out with and chat with. Their inventory is diverse and the pricing was very fair. I picked up a sink and some chairs which were great! I look forward to visiting them again next time Im down that way. Its a really fun place to stop in and poke around and have access to some really unique items from all over!
I recently visited here looking for a piece of old barn wood. First of all the amount of stuff they have is amazing and the work they do is beautiful. Not only is the stuff great, but the customer service is great. My family and I had delt with Nick and he could not have been any better. With helping us pick it, giving us ideas, cutting the wood etc. this will definitely be a place a return too!!!!
This company serves as an invaluable resource for architects, conservators and engineers in the field of historic preservation. The owner will go above and beyond to help professionals find the rare/virgin/old growth wood they may need for a particular project. The company has the resources available to answer even the most obscure questions. I highly recommend the professionals at Philadelphia Salvage!
Nice place but it ends there. Went 45 minutes out of my way on two occasions to select wood for a tabletop. Second time I worked with Nick. He was helpful, knowledgeable. He told me to email the sales department with the dimensions of wood I needed. I did so. Twice. Never received a response back from them. Was probably going to spend close to $800 in supplies and work done for wood finishing. Ended up using another salvage yard. Not going back to Philadelphia Salvage and will certainly not recommend to friends.
I just went here today for the first time- this place is so great. Im an architectural designer in Center City, and the short drive out to West Mt Airy was more than worth it. This place is the real deal- reasonable prices, a huge selection of unique salvage items, and friendly staff. I walked out with a wood rum crate (to repurpose as an end table) and galvanized bucket (for potted plants) and Ill definitely be back.
First the place is awesome to go and check out...just some really fun stuff. I had a custom bench made for my yoga studio. Andrew was great, listened to what I wanted, and was definitely responsive to my questions and concerns. The bench did take about a week longer than originally planned, but the final result was well worth the wait.
My husband and I went to Philadelphia Salvage to look for a door for a home we are building. They have a great selection of all door types and sizes but we didnt find exactly what we had in mind, so the wonderful guys in the Phila Salvage shop built us one out of salvaged pine and black strap metal. It has all the warmth of an antique while being custom made to our requirements...and it is gorgeous! The workmanship is excellent, their knowledgeable craftsmen paid great attention to detail. They were able to take our rough ideas in a pencil sketch and translate that into what I think is a work of art. Everyone we dealt with was friendly and down to earth, really enjoyable experience. I now know who to call for future custom projects for our house. Many thanks!!!
Great to do business with. Lots of cool stuff from small items to large. Very well organized, especially the reclaimed wood. Go to Mt. Airy to see this place.
What a great place. Awesome atmosphere, friendly cool people, lots of great reclaimed things. Everytime I go in there I find something new to buy that wasnt there last week. very reasonable prices and dont forget to peek into the workshop in the back to see what theyre working on. awesome custom work. youd be missing out if you didnt stop in.
The have good items but the price seems bit expensive for me....the place does have a good collection of items....there is lots of different items that are made of quality materials
Walked in just looking for some reclaimed wood and small knick-knacks to fill in my apartment and make it more my own. Was immediately offered beer and they began playing live jazz. That is now the standard I have walking into any other establishment. Yeah its a good store...no beer or jazz though.
Total ripoff. A rotting wood door should never be for sale, let alone have a $300 price tag. The area they keep their wood is completely exposed to weather. The windows above are broken so all the lumber gets rained on and they throw planks down so that you can walk through the puddles. Alot of the items they have for sale are absolute garbage and beyond repair. I would say this is the worst reclaim/salvage store in philly. Only an idiot would find ant value here.
Such an amazing place to find hidden treasures! Friendly associates are always there to help out. Whether I am walking around just to look, or have something in mind, this place is awesome.
This business is great for both the do-it-your selfer looking for those unique items, as well as architects and other professionals looking for unique products for their projects. Chris and his staff are always very helpful and the pricing seems reasonable. They also truly do good deeds within the local community and broader region by being an active participant in the neighborhood, and by preserving items that otherwise might fall to the wrecking ball, or end up in landfills.Again, highly recommend this business.
I purchased a ladies, facial tile from you a few years ago. It was made in New Jersey. I had it framed in wood and its in my upstairs bathroom. I LOVE IT!
I went to Philadelphia salvage many times in the past and everything was great. Until I placed a custom order. I worked with them creating an order for some roof board to be milled down and planed. Not a large order by any means. I placed the order and paid half the cost upfront. I then waited two weeks. Didnt hear from them so I placed a call. I was told by the gentleman who answered that the order would be completed that Friday. Friday came and went with no contact. I waited another 2 weeks and placed another call to them inquiring about the order. They apparently misplaced my order form with cut list so they had not begun my order. They said they would start on it asap. I then received a phone call the next day from a gentleman advising me they did not have the material to complete the order. Totally understandable. They could however provide me with wood at a smaller width. I asked if the cost would be amended now that the order essentially shrunk and they stated that different widths are the same price. I would get less wood at the same cost? Please. I needed what I originally ordered to complete the build. Not less. Basically they gave me the run around for a month, werent able to fill the order and then wanted more money. In all honesty they could have made an attempt to work with a customer but chose otherwise.Update: I received a phone call from a gentleman from Philadelphia salvage after posting this review. He started the conversation your an a**hole, I havent even sent you your check yet and you leave us a one star review? This was particularly interesting as to how Philadelphia salvage allows their employees to behave. Unprofessional at best.It is every persons right to review a company and explain their experience with the world so others can make an educated choice as to where they decide to make purchases. Their are other salvage companies only just a stones throw away. I suggest everyone do their research before deciding to give their money to this bush league enterprise.Sorry Philadelphia salvage you are the a**hole.
In love with this place! Full of treasures that are reasonably priced! The selection of reclaimed doors and windows is beyond great. Also a bunch of odds n ends for the diy-er.
This place is amazing. A great resource for a designer. Its full of reclaimed treasures!
Their new location is awesome! Super friendly and informative staff! I want all the doors!
Lots to see, reasonable pricing and friendly service.
Called to place a few items on hold and was told by a PSC rep that they will hold the items for 24 hours. They called me back 5 minutes later and told me the items have sold. Why did the rep sell the items that were on hold for me for 24 hours? Didnt she double check to ensure theyre available? No. The very next morning, three more exact items were posted for sale- I called and left a voicemail requesting to hold or purchase the items over the phone.. An hour after I left the message.. Sold before the store opened. I requested a credit towards my next purchase (10 or 20% - Something to bring my business back); Chris rejected stating its nobodys fault but mine. Why didnt the PSC rep contact Chris the first time and warn him that a customer is not happy; What can we do to make things right/Do we have more of these items available? PSC has zero customer service ethics as Chris started giving me an attitude in requesting a credit. How hard is it to give a customer an incentive to shop again?I will no longer bring any business to PSC and will steer people away from their shop as they love to nickel and dime over the smallest of things. Shop on Craigslist or Etsy. You can find much better deals without any hassle. PSC, hope it was worth it. Work on your customer service skills and internal communication. Maybe you wont get shut down by other hipsters offering the same s*#t at a more reasonable price.
Very friendly and helpful staff, great selection of reclaimed woods and architectural items.
Awesome place...lots & lots of cool things.
Always something unique to find here.
This place is the bees knees! I never leave empty handed. Since buying my vintage, rambling home, Ive been looking for stuff as quirky as I to fill it with. A friend pointed me in the direction of PS Co. and I havent looked back. I knew I was in the right place and had found the real deal when I saw the craftsman who made my salvaged wood farmhouse table shopping there. Why pay Restoration Hardware for their overpriced knock-offs when you can have the real thing? Dont be intimidated by the prospect of salvage. The staff always has amazing ideas on how to upcycle their cool finds into your home and how to repurpose them into your life!
This is the place to go if you have an old house!
Went to check it out today on a sunday with a friend. as soon as we walked in someone said HI we walked around will be back for sure.
Very over priced.
