Walked in here yesterday afternoon and was able to be taken care of right away. I did not get my barbers name, but he was excellent. He had been cutting hair for more than 40 years and it showed in his skill with the scissors. Made quick work of my hair and it turned out great! Convenient and flexible hair cut right in University City.

Worst haircut experience of my life. Student at UPenn, I decided to come here and what a mistake that was. This place is run by old white men who lack hand eye coordination. I asked for a simple trim on top (I wanted < 0.5 inches cut off), and this old white guy proceeds to move the scissors down and cut nearly 2.5 inches from my hair. AFTER I explicitly told him all I want is a trim. If you are a Penn student, avoid at all costs.

I went for a hair cut, the name of the person was Darleen, even after repeatedly telling her not to cut my hair short, she cut them so short, I wonder if I will get my long hair again. Not at all professional, I dont see any layers in my hair, terrible experience. Not going back there.

Reasonable price in a convenient location. Sure, you can get something cheaper if you go farther West, but given its prime location youre getting great value. Most of the stylists are very good. Mike really kills it and makes it a great experience. You never have to wait too long, with 95% of the time I can walk in and get a haircut right away.

I just went today to get my haircut with Mark, and I must say that I am very impressed. Not only did he provide a great cut following what I wanted, but he was adaptable to some of my specific requests. The setting is very comfortable and welcoming, and Mark is kind and easy-going. Regarding price, it falls in line with haircuts I’ve always had.

Ive been going here for 10 years! Pam does excellent work, and their prices have always been affordable. You should definitely call ahead if you want a specific person or time, but even when walking in the wait is not usually too long. They do mens, womens, and even kid cuts.

If you are looking for a high quality barbershop cut with scissors and fade/taper, then you have to go see Mike! Great cut and conversation. This is coming from someone who is incredibly picky with their hair.

I really liked the service and I cant remember the last time that I was so satisfied with a haircut. I got it from Darlene, who took time to make sure that she knew what I wanted and did a great job.

Ask for Pam, shes great! I have a short hair style but ask for enough to style in the front and she always gets it right. Ive also never had a haircut last longer than ten minutes with her. Pam is professional, efficient, and a good stylist (at least for mens short cuts)

Its ok. The only that I wished was caring more about stright outlining. This would make a huge difference for me and for any man.Also it would be much comfortable if there was a neck stand.

Ive been here twice. Very satisfied with the cuts on both occasions. I try to go in early morning, and theres not been any wait even though I didnt have an appointment. The cuts are a little pricey for being simple and straightforward, but Im OK paying the little extra price for a clean and courteous place.

Worst haircut Ive ever gotten. The stylist was extremely rough, didnt listen to a word I said when he began, kept talking about his personal family life, while ignoring what Im telling him to do with my hair, and I basically ended up with probably the worst haircut Ive ever gotten. The stylist should probably worry less about making conversation and being social (which they feel they have to do to justify a tip) and try to learn how to cut hair properly.This place is probably all right if you want to shave your head or get a military/jarhead cut, but apart from that, avoid this place.

Reponse to owner:The problem is that your company made an appointment for 5:00 (I know because the guy in front of me and i had the discussion and then continued to have a group discussion about it) and then made my appt for 5:15. According to your response, you like giving 30 minutes for each cut. Clearly, this is NOT what occurred. Your response says you care about your customers. However, you misconstrued the situation to seem like Im not patient and havent been to a barber shop before.Ive been coming here for a bit. The haircuts are quality. Mike is great, but I cant return. My time is exceptionally important-as is everyones. Making 2 back to back cuts 15 minutes apart is not a adequate time. Waiting 20 minutes past my time and youre still working is not something Im willing to deal with.Im frustrated because I literally come from across the city to get cut. I literally told them my time was compressed due to my 90 hour work week this week.Im sure I wont be missed, but I have to protect my interests. If you want to make an appointment and it not be honored, this is a great place to start.

After trying a bunch of tailors, this is the place I settled on. I go to the same guy who does a solid job each time. The price is steep ($23 for a mens short cut), but worth not having to deal with problem cuts.

Ive only been in for pretty simple cuts as I grow my hair out, and highlights, but my stylist (Dana) really listens to what youre requesting and does an amazing job! Prices are reasonable.

Staff was aloof. A blond woman cut my hair. Needed to ask for her to fix simple things like uneven hair length. Seemed to completely ignore layering and did not consider how it would grow out. Hid her failures with gel at the end. I was charged an overly expensive price for a substandard haircut that took twice as long as it should have.

I got a Brazilian here from Michele. She was very out of it & her words were slurred leasing me to believe she was on something, most likely prescription drugs. I called to make a 12:00 appointment and I waited in the salon until 12:25 to be seen. I dont know why it took so long because no other clients came out of the waxing room while I was there.She was unfriendly during the waxing process and seemed like she didnt want to be there. She did not make any effort to make me feel welcomed or comfortable. Getting a Brazilian is already a daunting process, I wouldnt recommend adding to the unpleasantness by getting waxed at this salon.

The staff at this particular establishment arent trained across all hair types. For hair that is curly, coils, thick, or considered coarse, I would not recommend Joseph Anthony Hairstyling.
