This company is EXTREMELY predatory!!! We have reported them to the Better Business Bureau and are planning to contact the attorney general regarding their practices. Our car was towed last night after we paid for two hours of parking. When asked why, the employee said that there were signs posted stating that the parking ticket had to be displayed in the dash. After looking through the parking lot, there were two signs stating this. One was in the corner of the parking lot that was not anywhere near where I parked and was hard to read. The other was on a structure several feet BEHIND the pay station and looked completely unrelated. We never even saw it. They told us they had already towed 9 cars that night and they were still towing more when we left. It didn’t matter that we paid for a specific spot and showed them our pay stub. We had to pay them $205 dollars IN CASH to get our car back that night. They made thousands of dollars last night from towing nearly every single car in the lot because they purposely had misleading parking rules. What’s the point of me registering which spot I’m in if I also have to put my ticket in the dash. You’re telling me there’s no way for them to see that I had paid for spot 28 or whatever by looking into the machine they supplied for payment. PREDATORY!!

Working for the City of Philadelphia Department of Licensing and Inspection you tend to get complaints in regards to companies operating in the City that have less than great customer service or May have shady business practices. This company is one of them. However as long as they pay their business taxes the City does not take much interest in too many complaints. My families experience with this company however will indeed raise an eyebrow where it counts. Companies such as this think that they are untouchable because they pay their taxes or may be connected politically. That used to be the case. Hiring the right employees can make or break a business (word of advice).

Honestly, eff this company. I parked on a street where it was a school zone, not even realizing school had started back up again. Can’t wait to pay close to $300 and, from the reviews, possibly get back a damaged car. The attorney general already hates this company, why are they still allowed to exist??? Eff George Smith Towing and eff the school for calling them - I wasn’t even right in front of the school, I was on a freaking CORNER.

While calling to get a photo I’ve been entitled to as they towed a car from a vacant lot that lacks 10+ years of tenancy, where the car sat for a year. It’s been three days has still went without being granted as the woman promised. Ed took my email down on Saturday when I called back about not receiving an email, today is Monday Bryan is upset I’d like the photo then asked why I don’t come pick them up before his threats. It seems Bryan would like his employer to hear from my attorney but that’s another story than follow what was agreed to. Send the photo so I can send the title over as the car is worthless to me. You not responding to an agreement as charges increase is what? Fraud & a form of price gouging. (Photos sent, title being sent as promised. Hard to deal with their attitudes but when you focus on notoriously vacant bando lots you have left vs gaining new clientele, the disgust for self speaks)

I understand why my car was towed that’s not the problem, the problem is they are very disrespectful and one of the guys tried to challenge me and also gave me rude remarks but I was just worried about my car so I ignored him. They are very unprofessional and they need to think about who they hire.

This company is a complete joke. My girlfriend got to her car as one of the employees was putting the car on the lift, and gave him the money to put it down. As he did so, he tore the entire bumper from the car. In front of 2 other people. Filed a police report and even the police officer said this company is absolutely horrible. Have been waiting nearly 2 months to get it resolved with no response from their end. Filed a report with the BBB and this company had the audacity to say they tried reaching out to us to resolve the issue, which is 100% not true. The girl behind the counter shouldnt be working there as she is completely unprofessional and immature. They claim that we are being aggressive yet the supervisor is telling me to watch my words as i come into the office. No company should EVER tell their customers how to act. Reporting to the attorney generals office.

This company is a scam it is only out to get money . They towed far from a parking lot that wasn’t even their domain. Than I called and they had me on hold for 15 minutes ...I had to call back 3 times to get answers . I when I spoke to someone they said it would be 205 to get my car off the lot 175 for the tow and 25 for a golfing fee. The holding fee is per day and they haven’t even had my car for 24 hours yet . They towed my car for no reason. This company is a fraud and should be shut down.

These people are fraudulent! They posted a sign in a school parking lot on a wooden board with non descriptive writing and deliberately placed it against the fence where no one was able to see. Therefore several vehicles including my own was towed. I was charged $235.00. These practices are for profit only and are unethical! This is just Wrong! Yes, Im speaking about the City of Brotherly Love.

Don’t let them take pictures of your credit card and ID. Called them for a tow and paid $250. They wouldn’t tow unless I let them take a picture of my credit card and ID. The VERY NEXT DAY, my credit card was hit for $8k at stores like Apple and American Muscle auto parts. Don’t let them take pictures of your stuff.

It blows a lot of traffic when trying to get out of there

Although the cashier was friendly this location is in a run down area. There is no parking at this establishment except on the street which is not safe. All and all I got my car back quickly and with no hassle.

This is an actual criminal organization. They are now towing authorized vehicles and extorting paying tenants for $175 to get their vehicles unhooked. This is not the way. You havent heard the last of me. I promise.

This place is horrible. They towed my car while I was at the movies but the problem that I have is that they got black signs with yellow writing but you expect people to see these signs at 10pm 11pm at night. Make it make sense please. smh

George Smith Towing towed my box truck from the closed k-mart parking lot where we had been parking the truck for months. There was no warning or notice. We called the next morning to get the truck back and they charged me $3500.00. Able Bros. has towed my trucks in the past farther and the bill was $375.00. I have reported them to the States Attorneys General office.

One of their drivers was swerving in and out of traffic erratically north bound on i95. My boyfriend had to slam on the breaks going 65+ miles an hour and we almost got into an accident because of your driver.

Parked my car and they towed it even though there were no clear signs that I was unable to park where I did, I double checked before leaving my car too. Luckily there was a driver close by. when he took me to the impound he told me it would be $205 in cash. After arguing how ridiculous that is I asked if he carried $205 in cash around philly he said no. I argued that I would sit in front of their office until 8 am for them to open to let me pay. Finally let me pay with my debit card to release my car. Make your signs more clear and dont have a dispatcher tell you to release your car then tell someone youre not supposed to be releasing cars. Unprofessional. Will be contacting attorney generals office.

Had 2 great experiences with George Smith Towing. 3 weeks ago I had my daughter’s graduation party and needed to move an old vehicle from my driveway. It was removed in 24 hours and the driver was polite. They aren’t always the bad guys.

My car was towed due to the one sign in the parking lot that was not clear with parking rules. When I told the staff about the sign and showed them a picture, they stated that there were other signs in the parking lot stating it was paid parking 24/7. They also said I needed a special permit, I told them the sign stated from 3am on. Complex patrons should also read residents since its not referring to the shopping complex (I learned post tow), but to the apartment building on the other side.I paid for my car and am grateful to have gotten it back in the same condition that they took it. Thank you to the truck driver for not damaging it. I understand you have a job to do, and it was executed well.With that said, please change the last sign to match the others in the parking lot. It was unfair for the tow office ladies to suggest I walk around a parking lot at night time to compare signs and see that it is 24 hour parking. The sign I trusted should be changed to reflect the same information as all of the others without me getting paranoid looking at others that looked the same from afar (black sign, yellow writing) I included a picture of the sign for reference, as well as another I saw after the fact, for comparison. One is clear and direct, the other is not. The parking lot is located behind the AMC on broad and ontario. Do the right thing and put the same information on this sign because it states paid parking until 6pm, which is misleading.Trust me, I would have gladly paid the money to avoid the headache.

I paid for parking and had my car stolen from the lot. After approaching a tow truck that was stealing another car he informed me that we were supposed to place our PAID ticket in the windshield of my car. Why enter a spot number at the kiosk (which wasn’t accepting dollar bills by the way) when you need to leave the ticket behind? They towed my car from the scene of an accident without my permission, they damaged the inside of my car and they stole some things that was in it, like my floor mats, my brand new seat covers that were in the trunk still in the package my phone charger that was in the glove box. I lost $600 dollars because of the damage to the interior, that the insurance company was going to give me but didnt cause of them.

I am writing this as I sit and wait for my vehicle to be released.. first of my vehicle was towed by GST on Sunday June,16, 2019 due to a collision accident. it was hooked at 8:30 and completed at 9:30. I arrived a few minutes later at the tow lot to try to retrieve my keys and a few personal belongings that I have forgotten. And I was denied access to MY vehicle. Law states if owner is denied access to their vehicle during business hours owner shall not be charged storage fees for the day access was denied. Further more access can not be denied to the owner of the vehicle. This is all listed in the (Towing and towing storage facility standards act act of July,5,2012 P.L. 990, No. 110 section (E)(F)and section (G).)I was denied access and charged for storage I was told I had to contact my insurance company in order to access the vehicle. I paid to have my vehicle released 2 days later and took them 3 hours to release the vehicle to me since it had to be towed off their lot.

Nightmare to deal with, no respect for cars that are NOT parked illegally then tell you they will meet you to get your car (like it’s a big deal to get the owners permission? All they do is send another tow truck to meet you and open the locked impound) tell you to call when you get there (tell them it’s 10 minutes away), we call to be told they will meet us in 5-10 minutes and we wait for an hour....make you pay cash (wonder if that even gets recorded???) I was in an accident on Oct 3rd. Due to how bad the accident was and me not being to start my car the police called these fools and they towed my car and my insurance dispatched their people to pick my car up from them. Though the same day I called George Smith Towing and asked if I could retrieve items from my car and I was told that I could not and that I would have to pay to get my car in order to get my things which is crazy because Im the victim here and its my car. I obviously cannot drive the car so what harm am I doing getting MY things from MY car. So when I went to go retrieve my items from my car from the repair shop that will be working on my car today MULTIPLE things were missing from my trunk in addition to my seats having dirty dark spots on them which were not there before. A large cosmetic bag of mine was open, exposed and my things were all over my trunk in addition to items not being in my bag in addition to other items missing from ANOTHER BAG!! The Nasty Fat white guy worked as an agent for my rental manager who sneakedly tried to get my car towed after ignoring my request for information about parking. This happened only days after I had heart surgery so shes a B1%ch and Fatty is an A$$ for trying to extort a sick woman with a baby for $175. But I GOT there A$$eS BY CALLING THE COPS! HERE IS THE LAW PPL: If you catch them trying to tow your car and theyre not rolling down the street yet tell them to DROP IT! THE LAW in PA states if you dispute a tow in progress they have to drop it or it is a illegal tow. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A DROP FEE! So get everything on video. If they tow it anyway you can take them to small claims court, get all your money back and theyll get a fine. Fatty had the nerve to call me shady for calling the cops and he tries to hunt down my car on the weekends.
