Ive been taking my Mazda3 to Dons for over a decade. Don, his wife, and their staff have never let me down. They do what needs to be done and NEVER try to sell me repairs that arent necessary. (I know this is true because Im an engineer who does a lot of my repairs myself.) The work is always done correctly, quickly, and at a price that is more than fair. Even after moving away from South Philly, I still go back to take my car to this rare gem of a repair shop.

Dons Auto is amazing. New to the area, needed an oil change and engine light was on. Dropped car off, one hour later it was ready to go. Asked me what I wanted to do with check engine light before working on it. Great service, very reasonable price, would recommend everyone to come here.

I called today to make an appointment, and fortunately they had an open spot for today. I took my car in, and left it to be checked. They called within an hour to let me know what was wrong, and to tell me how much it was going to be. (car was overheating and leaking) The car was in and out in around 2 hours. Came to Don’s for my state vehicle inspection. Called and was able to get in the same day. In and out in less than 1 hour. Reasonable pricing ($50) for inspection. They even swapped out my license plate for me. Appreciative of the friendly service in a new city.

Popped my tier the other day in center city Google searched auto repair and they where #1, 0.5 miles away.. I called they where closing.. I explained what happened and he waited for me to come and had the same tire I needed that matched the ones on my car... and changed it so fast I was right back on the road Nascar Style

I have two older cars (early 2000 models) that have both needed work to pass the emission tests. Strange experience. Im from out of state and recently moved here and needed an inspection and brakes. He saw me the same day that I called and tried to explain things to me. He was being fair with pricing and wanted to help me get out as quick as possible.I am a nurse and know nothing about cars so I called my dad to ask him what he thought too. At this point Don told me that I need to learn to be self sufficient and then asked me if I even pay my own rent or buy my own food or pay for my own car.I was pretty uncomfortable because I already told him he could work on my car and I was alone. I said that I was 28, a nurse with a mortgage and tried not to talk much and said to him that no one knows everything and that Im sorry I needed to ask someone in my family for advice.I think he might have been insulted that I was asking someone else about what they thought because he kept telling me that hes a fair mechanic, which I at no point questioned.I decided to give him a decent review despite him also making fun of me for wearing a work jacket (after working all night) and saying that he thought I was in medical school.Ultimately, Im thinking that it was a misunderstanding on his end because he told me he has kids my age and compared their lifestyle to mine.Strange. I appreciate the service but I wont be coming back. I was too uncomfortable.

Don’t be reluctant to bring your car here. Been here a couple times for basic maintenance ie: oil change, brakes, inspection etc. These guys want your car out just as much as you want it out. Very quick and efficient, reasonable, and trustworthy (seemingly)...not trying to sell you a new Johnson rod when you don’t need it. Good shop, nice people...

Had AC diagnosed and fixed at a very fair price with one year warranty on part replaced. Good people fast service fair price. Cant beat that. First time here and hope to make them my regular garage. Wish I had found them earlier.

Absolutely the best mechanic in South Philadelphia! Don and his wife run an amazing shop, he always stands behind his work and is always beyond fair on his pricing. Best auto shop in the area. They’re totally legit and super friendly. Inspection only cost $61 and they get it done quick. Just got my break pads and rotors replaced and it cost less than half the price as the dealer service with the same German parts.

DO NOT GO HERE. Thos guys are not professionals and will treat you like nothing. I went there for a SIMPLE check up, simple diagnostic to make sure that my car was maintained well. Their answer: You have to take the instruction manual book and let us know exactly what we need to do and i go: Well, no, thats your job... but nop they apparently dont do that !Unbelievable...!!! They asked me to do their job !!! Not even able to proceed a simple check up? God you dont wanna go there when youll have a real issue with your car...!

Only shop I called that was able to do an inspection same day. Got me in and out pretty quickly. Very friendly and professional staff. At $61 it was one of the better prices for inspection without having to drive out of the city.

I come here yearly for my inspections, this year was no different other than I was 8 months pregnant. Don saw this and even though I was on time for my appointment, he was super slammed in the garage already. It didnt stop him from taking my car in immediately and checking it so that I didnt have to wait long and could be on my way. I am always skeptical to post a review about a mechanic after only one visit, however my first experience is on par with the other positive reviews and Im planning on returning to Dons in the future.I walked in for an inspection with a tight time frame, and they were happy to make it work. They showed me my tire that had to be replaced and explained why (alignment issue) which sounded reasonable. Additionally, the price was fare

Great mechanic. I scheduled an appointment with Pep Boys for 2:00 for an inspection, went in, and they told me I wouldn’t be seen because they were full up (how does that even work?). I called Don’s and they said to come right in. Mind you, they closed at 3:00 and I called at 1:30. I got there before 2:00, walked around town a little, and got a call saying my tire didn’t have enough tread to pass so it needed to be replaced. They finished up everything by 1:40 or so. The price was half of what I’ve paid for the exact same service at Pep Boys (inspection and tire replacement). Don and his wife were extremely nice and easy to talk to. I’ll definitely be back.

Great place. Have an 07 Camry, it is in good condition but always nervous when needs Inspection because you know what some shops use that time for. Don was honest and they make you a priority. Great place. Cannot recommend enough

Best mechanic in Philadelphia! My car broke down this past Sunday. I was referred to Dons by my boss. I had the car towed to his garage, parked in front of his service door. The next morning, he had already listened to my messages and was ready to help. He fixed the issue, took care of another issue that was likely to crop up this Winter, and had it ready for me by end of business that day! All for an extremely reasonable price. Highly recommend for all your car needs!!

10 am on a Saturday, my window regulator broke on my Honda Element. A good friend recommended Don to me weeks ago when I was finding a mechanic just in case. Never been here before and Don was able to get my car fixed in 4 hours. Amazing service and the price was what I expected. Highly recommend using Don and his shop. Very friendly too!

Ive been bringing my 10 year old car here for the last couple years. Mainly for inspections, which tends to come with some needed repairs. Ive always had a good experience here. The staff is courteous and helpful, and took their time to explain what repairs were needed, which werent needed now but would be soon, and other things to watch out for on my car. Since they approached the situation like that - with what NEEDS to be done, and what can wait, I trust them despite not being very savvy on car repairs. I would recommend them.

Dons a rock star! Moved to Philly last year and when I had some brake issues, I took it to Dons. Don gave me the list of issues which exactly matched the issues my dealer in Utica had given me (but I hadnt had the time to let them fix). Don fixed the brakes faster and much more cheaply than the dealer and the cars been sweet since then. Have since taken my car back a couple of times for a couple of other minor issues, oil changes and inspections and Don is always fast, reliable, and honest.Highly recommended!
