Great gym to train at. Family orientated and you learn great values that you can use in real life. I train there and so does my son. Highly recommend it to anyone looking to get a great workout and get healthy. Everyone is super friendly.

I have been an active member for almost 5 years. I have tried other gyms and never felt as comfortable as I do here. Everyone is very friendly. The coaching staff is incredible and pays close attention to detail while teaching. They have classes for adults, kids, and women as well. I would recommend Checkmat South Texas to any person wanting to train as a beginner or experienced martial artist!

This is a great place to study and learn the art of Brazilian Jiujitsu. The instructors are very professional and have a lot of teaching experience. They have the best prices in the business. Their gym has a lot of space with clean restrooms. They also have excellent parking space as well.

I’ve only recently found the profound value of martial arts, specifically BJJ. I am a novice learner, thus far. When I first found this place I was a bit nervous to be amongst those who’ve been training for years. Everyone is very kind and caring and there’s no disrespect whatsoever between peers or the instructors. I was invited with open arms and everyone truly feels like family. The training is intense and fun and I highly recommend anyone check this place out if they are serious about learning BJJ from professional, enthusiastic and helpful teachers. Not only have I learnt much on the mats but I’ve learned much about life as well through the art of BJJ.

I love going, not a day goes by where I miss class. I love every second of it. I was brought into trying out to do jiu jitsu and man ever since then, it’s been apart of me now, my life. I have been doing martial arts my entire life, at first i was reluctant to try Brazilian Jujutsu. It wasn’t until I discovered CheckMat South Texas that i realized how much i would love to do this sport. CheckMat South Texas has not only allowed me to continue to grow as a martial artist but it has also allowed me to become a better and more disciplined person overall. The teaching staff is amazing and pays close attention to any detail and is exceptional at listening and answering questions. They also have a kids only class where children can learn not only how to defend themselves but to be more disciplined. Overall CheckMat South Texas is a great establishment and I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in becoming a better person.

Didnt sign up my child because he just didnt seem interested but I got to see a class and was impressed with the instruction as well as the instructor.( nice guy) It was also a very fair rate compared to other places. Based on my limited experience I highly recommend.
