Staff is kind and instructors push your kiddos in a positive way. There are multiple locations and the prices are not too bad.

This place is for those that really would like to excel in gymnastics. Its awesome. However, they could use more seating for those of us that hang around for our kids. Otherwise, I love this place.

I love the coaches here, they are firm but yet caring and kind with how they treat they kids. They sanitize the equipment after each class and we have yet to have or see a reason to not want our daughter to continue at Flames. Our daughter has grown to love gymnastics and loves going here.

My daughter transferred to Flames Gymnastics almost 2 years ago after attending Arrowhead Spinettes for 12 years. Spinettes was the only gym she had known since she was 2 years old. My daughter was 14 years old at the time and coming back from a broken thumb injury. Gymnastics is a tough sport even when you are in shape. Coming back from an injury is very frustrating. To add to the frustration of a injury comeback, she knew no one at Flames. My wife and I are parents who just wants their children to be involved in something extracurricular to learn about developing good work habits for life, build relationships, and how to handle failure on the way to success. For the first time in my daughters like, we hit a critical point as she wanted to quit gymnastics. My wife and I were at a point we had never been before as we didnt want to force our daughter to do gymnastics but were concerned because deep down we felt it could be something else as we thought she truly loved doing it. The best advice we ever listened to was Flames Gymnastics and to have stay in gymnastics until she got all the skills back that she had before her injury and then let her make the decision on whether to continue or not. Flames coaches and parents went out of there way to make her feel at home from the very first visit. Fast forward a little over 1.5 years and our daughter has developed new gymnastics skills and relationships faster than we couldve imagined. Thanks Flames!

This is the gym that trains champions! Ive taken my children here for over a decade, first with my son, now my daughter. Most of the coaches are State Champions, and they have and incredible attention to detail and teaching the basics right, so when a gymnast moves on they dont have to unlearn bad habits.Their prices are the cheapest in the valley and you get the best value for what you spend! Highly recommended! The only downside is this location does not have their Friday Night open gym anymore which my kids loved! We still go to Open Gym at their Tolleson location Friday nights, but its far for us to drive.

My granddaughter regrettably has to change gymnastics schools due to relocation. We were researching various schools in the area and we visited Flames in Peoria. We walked in and was never acknowledged. We stood at the counter for 7 minutes while staff was assisting a member, without a hello, ill be with you in a moment, we are closing, nothing. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, we were obviously invisible to the staff. We took our own tour of the facility. After seeing the cramped facility and the dirty equipment, it became immediately obvious we needed to hightail in out of there and keep looking.

Flames gymnastics, is a typical gym. I dont know what you consider dirty? But, Flames is no different from any other gym as far as cleaningness. As, far as I am concerned, Flames is cleaner than most gyms, for an older facility. I have been to several gyms out here and the one thing I can say is that Flames is very family oriented. The coaches, are great, as well. You will see coaches from other gyms yell and etc.. NOT AT FLAMES! You will see nothing but communication, and RESPECT!!!

One of the employees got in my sons face and started yelling at him. The employee was informed that my son has Autism, and that he would not respond well to being yelled at. The woman stated that she was talking on the phone and could not hear. After being yelled at, my son began crying louder, and the woman returned to yell at him again. The facility itself is rundown and dirty but I was surprised to find that the staff are the same way. I cant imagine this place being open for much longer.

I am going to try and be as honest as I can in this review, the good, the bad, the ugly. My two daughters were on the competitive team here, off and on, for over 3 years. The good is that the owners and their daughters, who also coach, are truly good people and care very much about the gym and even more so about the kids. It is a very family oriented place and you can go in and talk about your concerns any time. It is also one of the least expensive programs in the area for competitive gymnastics. The bad is that the coaching is very one-sided. When the owner and coaches have put a label on a kid, nothing the kid can do during training will make a difference. They box them in early as good or bad early on and keep them there, in spite of meet scores or any evidence to the contrary. They put one of my daughters in a lower group and told a newly coming coach thats the group who has no future in gymnastics, you can do what you want with them, whereas my other daughter was hand picked for a young privileged group in spite of her struggling to keep up just about every day. The coaching is very harsh, they yell at the kids constantly and berate them a lot when they do not pick up skills quickly (which some kids actually thrive on, just mine dont, thats not our style). Crying after a fall or a bad meet score is not allowed, they are told to suck it up or they get pulled off the floor. They have a very, very high turnover ratio of coaches, mostly because the owner is headstrong and slightly on the crazy side (in a very good way) and sometimes difficult to get along with (but so am I so I never held that against her). Their coaches, with the exception of coach TB and the owners daughers, who do actively participate, are very hands-off and many kids learn incorrect skills by rote memory. The ugly is that the facility is downright awful. Scary part of town, and the gym itself is very run down and in bad shape. Floor is a tripping hazard. Rec room is a mess and dingy in the back. Upstairs room has leak damage and moldy smell, no AC but just a giant fan in summer. Trophies are under inches of dust in spite of a bi-yearly cleaning. Unlike what the previous reviewer said (who is also treasurer of the booster club BTW, you do the math), this is not typical of a gym. I dont think this is the owners fault per se because the building itself is in such bad shape and there is not much the landlord will do, but they ought to consider moving to attract a better clientele. We made the difficulty decision to leave because, in spite of the shortcomings, we felt like it was our home gym. Going to a different gym was significantly more expensive but it has been a very good decision. That is not to say that we consider Flames a bad gym and we will always look fondly upon our years there, all the time and effort the owner and her daughters put into our family and the friendships our girls and our families have made (with the exception of certain competitive team moms, who, because they are neurotic and their husbands participate in the booster club, think they own the place and act like outright nut jobs). If you are considering a family run gym for competitive team, that doesnt have quite the glitz and glam of a more typical high end gym, and a lower cost and a caring environment, this is the place for you. For recreational gymnastics, I would go somewhere else, that is not their forte. Word to the wise: stay far away from their booster club. I have never seen a bigger bunch of crazies in one room at the same time !
