10/10: What makes this place great is the instructor. He is highly skilled, personable, kind and above all, a great teacher. The gym has everything needed for any/all fitness levels. Group classes are fun, and the students provide a friendly environment. I highly recommend this place!!.

Since day one and in every class Coach Mauricio has been amazing showing his passion and dedication to all the children, making them feel confident at all times and teaching them always something new! I recommend this academy to anyone who wants their child to train in all areas of mixed martial arts. Coach Mauricio personally trains the kids and puts in more effort than any other gym in the area. The guys at the Academy of Martial Arts are amazing! The teaching is unmatched, and the intensity is perfect for everyone. Whether youre a person trying to lose weight or a person getting ready to fight, this place is great. Everyone is humble and respectful, and no one has that Im better than you attitude, which makes for a perfect training experience.I myself lost around 35 - 40lbs training under Academy of Martial Arts coaches before I decided to fight, so I know what its like to want to lose weight as well as compete. If you are in the Pembroke Pines area, definitely check these guys out. Always a welcoming group of people that are hard working and knowledgable. I visit from Pittsburgh when I am in the Ft. Lauderdale and Miami area to get my training on the road and always love the energy these guys have during training.If you are looking for a gym where people are focus on helping you achieve your goals, whether it be competing or just general knowledge and developing your skills, or improving your fitness level, get to AMA. I have been training at AMA for more than a year now and it is by far the best, most dedicated Muay Thai academy in South Florida. I have had plenty of amazing experiences inside and outside of the academy, during everyday training and when traveling to fight around the state. There are two incredibly experienced coaches that will help you step-by-step, that will work right there with you and make sure you learn, get in shape, and most importantly enjoy the art. Even if you dont plan on stepping on the ring, Muay Thai here is both fun and tough, you will enjoy it and at the same time get a great workout. I won my Florida State PKB belt under AMA. Its a family here and it is great being part of it.

I trained with Jose Mauricio Caal for about 6 years before I moved back to New York. Ever since I moved back to NY I have not been able to find a coach as good as Jose. Because of that I opened my own gym to give the knowledge Jose has given me to other people. One of the main things I miss about living in Florida is my AMA family. AMA is more than just a gym to train Muay Thai. It is a family that comes together to help each other become better people, fighters, martial artist, and more.As for Coach Eric Rivera, he was one of my training partners when I was training there. He is very knowledgeable of the sport and has a large resume of achievements over the years. Great coach as well. Between Jose and Eric you could not ask for a better team of Coaches. If you are looking for TRADITIONAL Muay Thai in South Florida, this is definitely the best place to go.

I have been training with Jose Mauricio Caal for over 10 years, he is a great instructor that really loves the sport and pours his heart and soul into each and every person that walks into the gym. When I heard he was opening his own gym in Pembroke Pines, I had to come in and support him. Coach Caal has been shaping champions for over 10 years. When I started training with him, I was already fighting competitively but my record was not very good. After training with Jose, I went undefeated for 9 straight fights, won 3 titlles, both state and national, and simply reached heights I never thought I was capable of. When you train at AMA you are part of a family of martial artists that check their egos at the door and simply come in to train hard. Also, AMA is the only gym in Pembroke Pines that teaches traditional Muay Thai and real Kickboxing. If you are looking to improve your striking game this is the place for you. Striking IS their specialty!
