We have been part of the Dojo family for over a year. The instructor teaches with passion and gives each student their time deserved. My son is 8 and has recently earned his blue belt. Its a good home for the kids to learn the meaning of respect and discipline.Thank you Sensei Dennis for making this an enjoyable experience for everyone. OSU!!

My grandfather used to own this place and took great pride in it. This dojo is not only used for its martial arts purposes, but to create a family where you feel comfortable being you and safe. This dojo has for years now taught respect, self defense, and so much more. Anytime somebody has the slightest inkling of wanting to start martial arts, I point them towards this particular dojo. I have been going here since I was about 7 years old and will continue to practice and study kyokushin. As a response to the comment below, I know exactly who you are just by the way you talk even if you are trying to keep secret your real name(but just know I know who you are) and its disgusting to think that you two out of all people would show this type of disrespect for the dojo. The dojo has opened its door to everybody who has entered. With respect, practice, and passion, this dojo will stand forever.

In response to the posted comments, i would have to ask, just when were you there? I am there at least 75,^ of the time to observe . I have not seen either Peter or Michal there. Both instructors had trained with the late Greg Johnson for many years. I do not believe either of the couple trained withGreg. The two current instructors teach not only the mechanics of the Art, but also the philosophy and basic values. Both Sensei are in training themselves in order to enhance their teaching technique but to earn their 3rd degree black belts.

I am 15 and I have been practicing Kyokushin Karate since I was 10. I moved to Palos Hills and saw this school. My dad and me went around and looked through the door and saw a very fat teacher trying to teach something that didn’t look like Kyokushin. My dad has been doing Miura Kyokushin for 17 years and he said this is the worst he has ever seen. We watched through the window for a while and no one came to see us. It was a very messy looking place. Very disappointed as I wanted to join a school close to where I live.

My Autistic son has attended SW Academy of Kyokushinkai Karate for the past 6 years and has greatly benefited from Hanshi’s, Sensei’s Dennis and Sensei Keith’s instructing. Each instructor has added their own experiences and learned techniques to assist my son to thoroughly understand what he must do to execute stances, basics, katas, fighting drills, sparring and for each belt promotion. My son is now yellow belt with black stripe go kyu through Hanshi December 2019.Sensei Dennis has been an encouragement to my son almost 22 year old son in helping him overcome his weight issues, depression times when he didn’t feel like training and low self esteem moments as well. Both Sensei Dennis and my son have Fitbit app with “weekly challenges” to spurn one another on to walk more steps, increase cardio burning levels and motivate my son daily when not in the dojo to train. We miss Hanshi greatly and are very thankful that he left the dojo in Sensei Dennis’ very capable hands as a fantastic business man and agile instructor. Sensei Keith has often helped my son to work through his doubts and feelings of not being a good Karate student. Both Sensei’s devotion to Karate, good character role modeling, attention to each student’s personal abilities and learning needs make this dojo impeccable and of great appeal to all ages, body styles and goals to becoming the best Karate student they can be.Each person works at their own pace and is gently inspired to grow beyond what they think they are able to do. That’s what they’ve done for my son! I am forever blessed and thankful to all the instructors for their personal time, devotion and passion in seeing that every one that comes in these doors to train (and for parents who watch) to feel welcomed and part of the dojo family! Thank you Sensei Keith for all you have done, are doing and will do for your students!! Also, thank you, Sensei Dennis for personal sacrifice, wisdom, awesome attitude to never give up, caring deeply about Karate and teaching others to love the art of Karate; and for keeping the dojo going thus far!! I can’t wait to see what goodness holds for the future in carrying on the legacy of what Hanshi started 57 years ago!!
