On Oct. 3rd, I cracked my laptop computer screen. Dont know how. On Oct. 4th, I took my laptop to the Owings Mills Best Buy, who recommended I buy a completely new computer, which wasnt in my budget. Ive had my laptop for about 7 years. However, the Geek Squad tech did recommend that I try the Owings Mills Gadget Guru a block down the street. I remembered that I had used Gadget Guru for a computer issue before and had a positive experience, so I drove down the street and waited for about 30 minutes in my car until the store opened at 11 a.m. IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT! I was the first customer in line; they waited on me immediately, told me about their $50 diagnostic fee policy and that if I decided to use them for my laptop repair, the diagnostic fee would be put towards the overall cost. I left my laptop, drove home, and within an hour, a Gadget Guru tech called to let me know that they had a gently-used laptop screen in house that they could use to replace my cracked screen instead of a higher priced screen that would cost more and take longer to ship. I okayed the tech to install the gently-used laptop screen after they texted me a picture of the screen. It took a little over 2 hours for them to make the repair -- from 11 a.m. when I dropped my laptop off and 1:13 p.m. when they called to let me know my laptop was ready for pickup. Laptop computer screen back to normal. Needless to say I am a happy camper. Thanks Gadget Guru Owings Mills for a flawless, drama-free experience. Cant thank you enough.

I stumbled upon Gadget Guru while getting food next door. I spoke to a gentleman and explained my problem. Basically my charger broke in half inside the iPad. I had gone to another shop on Reisterstown Rd, they attempted to remove it and when they couldnt sent it out for repair. Over a week later I get a phone call that the place they sent it did not work on iPad pros. So it was returned to me with a chewed up port and bent metal near the port. I was not charged but I believe they did more damage while attempting to remove it. I thought they knew what they were doing, I was wrong! Then I go to Gadget Guru and drop off my iPad. I dropped it on Monday around noonish and by 6 that evening I received a phone call on what it would cost to fix it. Today is Wednesday and I just went and picked it up from them. Everything is working as it should, charging port was replaced. They not only were Professional, but the turn around was so quick. I wish I had found them sooner and will return if I have any electronics that need fixing.Besides having to pay they made the process painless LOL. Great employees. A+++++++ Thanks again Gadget Guru!!

Dropped my Samsung Note 9 in to Gadget Guru for a new screen and while the front was fixed, the back of the phone was totally destroyed. The tech replacing the screen scratched the paint from the inside out, with some sharp tool. I was advised that when leaving a device for repairs its entirely possible for them to damage it more than it was when dropped off. The tech and she does hundreds of Samsung phones, and rarely has an issue, and her offer was to replace the back of my phone with a generic replacement, apparently a $100 repair, that she offered to do for free. Replacing the back means whoever buys it is going to wonder wth theyre getting. Paid $365. to replace the front, have them destroy the back, and Best Buy offered me $200. to trade it in, citing it was well used. Its worthless now. I could have bought a kit and replaced it myself if Id known it would be destroyed. Use at your own risk, these people dont have a clue what theyre doing.

They are quite courteous. Turnaround time is short and sweet. But they’re simply a bunch of tricksters. Once you take your phone out to them once, it’s only a matter of time before more problems keep surfacing and it keeps you going back to them time and again. It’s likely they tamper with something in the phone that will keep you as their cash cow. And then when you keep going back, they’ll tell you it’s “under warranty”, but still charge you additional money. And it’s sad because I think they really are skilled and do not need to be like this to keep anyone’s custom. Talented, very courteous tricksters.

50 dollar deposit kept if you decide to fix the device or not. Cost of repairs is given after paying the nonrefundable deposit. Not ideal for old devices especially. May not be as in depth with repairs as i originally thought charged $300 after deposit to fix a cleanly broken off antenna port. I repair PCs and I usually do not have to buy a new board for a broken port. I usually can solder a new chip or port on myself. Not happy with paying up front deposit and nothing done to my device.

Always wonderful service from this store. I cannot attest to their pricing, as I have only had work done through Square Trade insurance claims(which I also highly recommend). The two companies work seamlessly together: File a claim and pay the deductible through Square Trade, and select which store you want the information sent to. Walk in to Gadget Guru and tell them you have a Square Trade claim, and all you have to do is tell them your name and sign. I was slightly worried about how the process would be the first time, but I knew it would be seamless the next time. This most recent time, some glue had not cured properly and the back of my Samsung Galaxy Note 8 had started to lift at the edges. I called them immediately to let them know the issue as soon as I noticed it, and they told me to bring it in at my earliest convenience for a quick reapplication of adhesive. 15 minutes later I was out and phone has had no issues.Highly recommend this company

I had to take in my laptop to get the hinges repaired, plus the plate surrounding my screen was splitting apart. After everything, the repair in its totality costed less than $200, less than I wouldve expected and definitely less than if I took it most anywhere else to get fixed. Computer has worked and has not given me any problems ever since. The only complaint I have/demerit I give to Gadget Guru is that communicating with them was below average. It took me over two weeks to hear what the specific repairs that needed to be done to my laptop were, what the cost of getting it fixed would be, and that it would be finished in 3-5 business days and that theyd call when the repair was completed and ready for pick-up. I however had not heard anything for another two weeks and by the time I called in, they said that the repairs were completed the day before and that my laptop was ready for pick-up, however I didnt get any sort of call the day before about my computer being finished and ready for pick-up. Hopefully this is an issue they can correct in the future, because otherwise their service is pretty good and they were cordial and otherwise satisfying to deal with.

Got my screen fixed months ago. About two months later, the screen showed purple specs but didn’t pay any attention to it. About a month later, the display would not show up at all. You guys fixed it for $100 and said it was faulty wiring. Now, 40 days later I am having the same problem and when talking to a guy on the phone, he said they there must be something further wrong with it when I was told everything was double checked and told that I wouldn’t have the same problem. Was then told that I could take it in to get looked at for an additional charge. What is the point when the repair is going to last a little over the month again? This was just money down the drain. Would have gone to Apple if I had known it would take more than two visits to actually fix the problem.

Four months ago I had my laptop repaired because there was a short where I plug in the power cord. This is a fairly common problem and once every year or so the problem re-appears. (Previously, I had this repair done by another company, a company I will now use again.) So, when the same problem appeared to come up six months earlier than usual, I was less than happy. I say appeared, because while the power supply jack didnt appear shorted, I kept getting a message saying that the internal battery wasnt charging. In any event, I went back to Gadget Guru and the gentleman behind the counter did his triage, told me I was one month out of the companys warranty and it appeared that the same repair, the one they did just four months earlier would have to be done again. I paid the $50 deposit so that they could look at my computer, but I specifically told them that if the $50 didnt cover it, I didnt want them working on my computer. Two weeks later, after not hearing from them I called. I was told the computer was repaired and the bill would be $100. I explained the situation to the person who picked up the phone and he gave me back my attitude and then some. He asked me, point blank, did I want them to un-do the repair. I told him I would take care of it when I picked up the computer. I picked up the computer, reminded the same cashier of what I had previously discussed with him (that I didnt want him to work on the computer if the cost was more than my $50 deposit) and I went home, glad to have my computer back. Once I got home I plugged in the computer and the same battery not charging issue showed up on the screen. I brought the computer back. This time I was under warranty. Five days later, after I didnt hear from the store, I called in. The problem was fixed. Apparently, the battery wasnt pushed in all the way and thats why there was a problem. So, I asked, when I picked up the computer, if the problem was caused by my failure to push my battery all the way in, why did I have to pay $100 for this repair. Apparently, my $100 fixed the issue and then when I went home and immediately plugged in my power supply, I somehow caused the problem to magically re-appear again. Obviously I will never use this place again.

Took my Iphone 4s on a kayaking trip and of course despite my best intentions, it got wet. After days sitting in rice it still wouldnt turn on. I started looking into replacing through Sprint, my carrier, and because I don’t have the Apple Care protection it would have been a $650 replacement. Then I started looking at used phone on Ebay and found them to be in the $400-$450 range for a 4s.Then I thought of Gadget Guru, I drive by their store almost every day. I can’t say enough good things about the service. I walked in at about 5:15 on a Tuesday. Ken, the owner, took my phone into the back and had me wait in the lobby. While I was there a steady stream of people came in and picked up fixed phones, fixed gaming consoles, etc. Their lobby was comfortable, with free coffee, water and a nice flat screen TV and magazines. It was very comfortable place to wait and the employees were very nice and courteous as they helped other people.Right before 6pm, less than an hour after bringing in the phone, a technician emerged from the back with my phone, magically working again. The bill was less than $40. They saved me a lot of money and a lot of time. I have recommended their service to several friends and family members, and have gotten glowing feedback from one that brought in a phone with a broken screen. I think they have a great concept and the execution couldn’t have been better, I’ll continue to use and recommend Gadget Guru.

The second time, when I was going to put down a down payment, they told me $120 and I walked out. Stupidly, I went back and they wrote up the order for $100 (???) and I put down a down payment. They told me that they would call me when the part came in, about 2 days. 6 days later I called them and they told me it had just come in that morning and had been backordered. (yeah, right???)I picked up the fixed phone yesterday. I noticed that the back was very rough on the outside but had a child in the car and didnt want to make her wait anymore. I picked the phone up today and noticed that there were lots of cracks on the back - mostly going to the rough spots on the outside. I brought the phone in and, long story short, all four people in the store are refusing to fix it. They accused me of dropping it and they disregarded the rough parts on the outside. I do not like being called a liar. They said the parts they ordered were 3rd party, not original. I wish I knew that before I ordered - ask. That might be way they were bad quality!

I did not demand to go half way but I suggested that we split the cost when the owner says I knew about the repair that is false no one ever told me that they were going to repair something that I didnt want repaired. Unforutunately my XBOX game console was suffering from the dreaded Red Ring of Death, not wanting to loose precious gaming cycles I was able to quickly drop it off at the Owings Mills location where they successfully repaired it. I am now able to get back to preparing for the next gaming tournament.

Way too expensive just to fix a screen on a smartphone

WOW Thanks for nothing! I am a very dissatisfied customer. Your fixes did not work so you make accusations, refuse to honor our contract, and attempt to extort more money from me! A $250 PlayStation is not worth this service.

After a week of troubleshooting my 3DS, asking a gamestop employee for help, and eventually calling nintendo to no avail, Game Guru was able to fix the issue after about 20 mins of troubleshooting. They didnt even charge me!

Unacceptable customer service. Attempted to have my USB port replaced and glass screen replaced on a Samsung S3. They replaced the screen and removed the USB port w/o replacing, claiming that it was unable to be repaired. Worst of all they failed to call me to let me know they would be removing my port without replacing it and that I would be forced to use an external charger. Instead they attempted to charge me $100 for a screen replacement in a phone that I would have to replace via insurance anyway. A complete scam, more concerned with ripping off customers than providing rewarding customer service. UNSAT.
