Ive been renting with The Lens Depot consistently for 8+ years now and I can say with 100% confidence I would *never* rent from anyone else. Their customer service is incredible, my rentals have always been amazing with them, and I am so so happy their office is so close to me so I get to visit them whenever I need to try something out! Giving props to these guys. We had a little snafu with our event A/V and they had what we needed to rent. Second snafu was pick up, but they helped us out and made sure our guy could pick it up. Appreciate the great service thank you. Our event was a success.
How fortunate I am to live so near to one of their pickup locations! Online lens rentals are good, but the convenience of local pickup makes it great! Their website works well... pickup and return were quick, friendly, and efficient... and the equipment was top-notch. Who could ask for more???

I tried them out due to a recommendation & I regret it. I was 10 min late to my return today @ 4pm and was charge a $54.00 late fee! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I was directed from the Tampa location to call the main office in Orlando to explain my situation and the manager there DID NOT CARE! I called, recognizing that I was late but I was asking for some understanding given this is my 1st time with them and if they can give me a break but NO! She threw the policy at me saying I need to take responsibility for my actions for not being on time. At that moment I understood it was pointless asking them for help. I approached them with accountability, I was asking for help but everything was just flying over her head and dismissing me. DO NOT RENT HERE IF YOURE LOOKING FOR GOOD SERVICE!!I’m big on customer service. I’m held to a very high standard Myself. The important part to me is how your business provides its customer with support and the service behind it. If I get treated poorly why would I want to keep giving you my money? Do not waste your time here.This place is just about one of the worst places you could choose to rent gear from. The owner Oscar is lacking people skills, take a look at the other reviews to get an idea of how he handles customer service.There are plenty of online rental places that mail equipment to you, with postage for return, at a cheaper rental price. You can also get damage protection insurance.The shipping costs would be offset by the fact TheLensDepot overcharges for their equipment.Oscar told me I had to go elsewhere next time, so I have been going elsewhere for about 7 years now. Couldnt be happier, and Ive saved a lot of money in the process.The best thing I can say about this place is that it opened me up to new opportunities in finding a better solution to rent gear.EDIT: Because the owner, Oscar the Grouch, keeps changing his reply to my review Ill update my response.My name wouldnt be on the rental because in my experience I was returning a slider for a company I was working with.Oscar was mad that the gear was brought back the day after we picked it up, and we had asked for a reduced rate because it wasnt needed for a full weeks rental.Rather than just saying no, and explaining why they wouldnt allow that this angry, little man proceeded to tell me I was never allowed to rent from their establishment again. To which I responded, But you dont even know who I am. His reply, I dont care, youre not allowed back.Our company had spent thousands of dollars at this place prior to this incident.Just look at their reviews, its either 1 star reviews describing in detail a similar customer service situation to mine. Or 5 stars with 1 sentence that attempts to directly contradict their negative reviews and bolster their customer service.

This was my first time renting and I was skeptical about the process but they made everything seamless. From making sure I got my lens on time, to giving step by step instructions on how to ship everything back. Im looking forward to my next rental or purchase!
One of the hallmarks of a great company is what they do when things dont go according to plan. There was an issue with my rental (one they couldnt have possibly foreseen). They immediately jumped on the problem and came up with a resolution within minutes. Great equipment, great prices and, most importantly, great people who actually care.
Love renting from The Lens Depot. This is my first time where I needed to provide a certificate of insurance for the equipment. Really appreciate the staff’s willingness to work with me & my insurance company to ensure I had the right type of coverage (use the equipment for personal purposes, rather than for business purposes). It really meant a lot they were willing to do this rather than write me off as a customer. Also, this was the first I needed the equipment shipped to me. The instructions were very helpful & I must say I’m very impressed with how well the items were packed. Highly recommend using this company for photography equipment rental.
Absolutely THE WORST customer service ever. I am a tax exempt organization. Rented equipment from them and forgot my tax exempt form. I offered it upon the return of the equipment and THE RUDEST person ever told me it was against the law to refund the tax, that in fact, I WAS BREAKING THE LAW. NEVER AGAIN! STAY AWAY!!!!!
Two days before leaving for a trip to Yellowstone my Sigma Sport 150-600 lens needed repair. Thankfully Lens Depot had one to rent so I was able to get some awesome wildlife shots on my trip. Lens Depot was great to work with and their equipment was spotless and in perfect working order. I would definitely rent with them again!

Was looking to rent a camera/lens I was thinking of buying, which is what brought me to the LD. Went into the Tampa location and was helped with my rental by the gentleman there. He was very professional, knowledgeable, and friendly.The prices were reasonable and the rental selection was extensive. The Tampa location had my camera body in stock but the lens was at the Orlando location, so being as I do not live in Tampa I chose to have it shipped direct. I received my complete order the following day, a day earlier than I was needing it for, so I did not have to pay for that day’s rental. The equipment was packaged well, the equipment itself was in excellent condition, and had the battery all charged and ready to shoot. The only thing I needed was to put my card in the camera and I was set. Upon receiving the equipment back, the LD sent an email confirming receipt and gave me a credit for a future rental. Lens Depot provided a smooth transaction from start to finish. I would definitely use them again and recommend them for anyone needing camera equipment rental.

I had difficulties placing my order as it wouldn’t go through online and had a question regarding the equipment. Spoke to two different representatives and received exceptional customer service and insight. When I picked up my rental the gentleman behind the counter was friendly and professional. He inspected the items and asked if I knew how to use them before giving to me. I wasn’t sure about one item and he took the time to show me how to use it. He went over the return date and policy and emphasized on returning it by or before 4pm. When I returned my rental he checked the items, asked if everything went well and told me everything was good to go. Simple enough. Would I go back? Most definitely. Would I recommend them? My first experience renting lenses and it could not have gone any better. I picked up the gear at North Tampa Photography and the representative was courteous and helpful. The service worked as advertised, easy order, pick up and return process. Since this is my first experience renting lenses I have no point of reference for price comparison and customer service. However in my opinion the pricing is fair and the customer service was very good. I would happily recommend The Lens Depot to anyone.
I would highly recommend using this company. I called several times with questions and they were very friendly and helped me pick the right equipment to rent. They made everything from receiving to returning the products very easy. I was very pleased with my rentals and would use them again.
Worst camera rental experience I ever had.I checked the camera only quickly at pick-up and went right away on a two-day trip. After I arrived at my destination it turned out that the SD card slot wasnt working properly. It was hard to get the card in and out, but the camera would save photos correctly. So I did not return the camera immediately (would have been a 3 hours drive back), but three days later as per rental agreement.A decent company would offer something as compensation for their not properly working equipment.Lens Depot? They pointed to their rental agreement. If you dont notify them of any issue within three hours after pick-up, YOU are liable for any repair costs!The damage waiver I included in my contract? Read the details! You will not be responsible for10% of the repair costs, but for the 10% of the replacement value of the camera. They gave me the second to last generation model. Guess... the replacement value was not value of this old model, but of the brand-new model!!!My advice for anyone who wants to do business with the Lens Depot:- let your lawyer read the agreements- have a witness during pick-up and inspection- perform a detailed inspection immediately after pick-up, return things immediately if something seems to be wrong (do not rely on a phone call)

Ive rented from The Lens Depot twice now. They are close enough I can pick up or have it mailed to me. Ive done both now, and each time was very easy. The equipment is all excellent and in top notch condition, and clean. The pricing is competitive and it allows me test gear before I buy, or have the right gear for the job. They are friendly and professional. I will continue to use their services. Highly recommended.
Its not the fact that they will still charge you a late fee for being 10 minutes late (even with a phone call in advance), Its not the fact that they just charged me, yet my order wasnt created, so now I have to be charged twice by creating another order (its policy, & hey things happen). Its the temperament, tone, and professionalism of the person who gives this information. I have never experience such lousy people skills in my life (and we have been dealing with them through personal accounts for years). And its only with the higher up who handles phone calls (whoever he is). These people are horrible. If youre local, go to lens pal, theyre slightly more, but theyre amazing & worth it.
Wonderful customer service! VERY friendly and helpful. My lens was available just as I ordered. As a first-time customer, renting was a very painless process. Email communication is FAST and helpful. My rental lens came in a secure, sealed, padded carrying case with a handle for easy (and safe) transportation. VERY reasonable prices and the additional insurance is also quite affordable. I cant wait to rent from The Lens Depot again! :)

I really like using The Lens Depot. Their rates are competitive and they have a ton of equipment for video and photos. Over the past two years theyve REALLY expanded their selection of equipment.One thing they do that I REALLY like is being able to make a custom rental period. No longer am I forced to pay for three days if I only need it for one day or two days.

Ive used them many times in the past, for me their service was great, the gear was always in good condition, and local pickup was always a plus. However, if youre a Fuji shooter, their selection for Fuji gear is very lacking compared to the other manufactures. There are a number of Fuji lenses that I would rent, but theyve had the same selection for some time now.

Disappointed with customer service. They seem like well-intending individuals, but they need someone with knowledge of customer service to help with the front-end of the business. Like previous customers said, keep your eyes open and make sure to be very aware and questioning. Keep records of everything. 10/10 I had a wedding this past weekend and needed a 70-200 . I went on Lensdepots website and had the order processed in no time. I was given email updates throughout the process and never had a problem! Actually to be honest they sent me the lens a day in advance (at no extra charge) because the Christmas rush is so close and they said they wanted to make sure I had it in time. Fantastic company, will be using them again.
I recently rented a lens from them and I could not be more pleased with the experience. I am not a professional photographer - I just needed a better lens to capture an upcoming sporting event for my son, so renting seemed like a good solution. The equipment was in great condition, rental rate was reasonable and picking up from their Oviedo location was simple and fast. I also found the staff to be friendly and professional, and I appreciated them taking the time to go over the lens features and functions with me. The Lens Depot is a great way to augment your photo equipment without breaking the bank or take a particular piece of equipment for a test run before spending huge dollars on a purchase.
First off let me start by saying this, I have been a loyal customer since the year 2016 around the same time I started my photography business. Since then I have been renting equipment every 2 weeks with no problems with returning the equipment or ANYTHING. A situation had occurred and I was not able to leave work, and the owner was NOT understanding at all, and filed a police report against me saying that the equipment was stolen after 1 DAY. I rented from them so many times and the owner knows EXACTLY who I am so I dont understand why they would take it that far, but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not rent from these crooked people.

Excellent service, excellent products and all around an excellent business. I have been renting from The Lens Depot for the past 4 years and I have had fantastic customer service with Oscar, Magda and now Tom. Friendly email reminders within 24 hours to return equipment to lots of products available to rent. Whenever I need an extra lens or a lens that is outside of my price range to purchase, The Lens Depot is my one and only stop. With pick up service in three locations (Orlando, Tampa and Miami) it is apparent that the business owners have listened to their customers and provided excellent service for camera and video equipment.
I placed a deposit for the lens rental on my credit card. When I returned the lens, I requested to pay the rental fee in cash. I was told the fee was already run through my credit credit. They would not credit my card and allow me to pay in cash. The owner was in his office and would not come out and see me. For this reason, I will not rent from them again. I expect better service from the owner of a small business.

Placed a same-day order in Orlando for local pickup. I ended up having to call about a payment question and found customer service to be prompt and helpful. Prices were good, pickup was easy, staff was great, and I got all the gear I needed to pull off a last-minute video shoot. I just wish they were more centrally located.

I rented 2 flash units with pickup in Tampa. Both offices were EXTREMELY courteous, answering lots of technical questions from me. Pickup and dropoff was super simple and they even offered to work with me on returning my equipment early when Hurricane Harvey cancelled my photoshoot/trip to Texas. Great customer service, quality equipment and I will be returning. Surprise credit at the end of my purchase wasnt bad either! Thanks guys.

Fast, convenient, friendly....what else could you ask for?My only word of advice to anyone is that they rent their lenses with UV filters, although I completely understand why they do it. I messed up a few shots because of flare from the filter, completely my fault, but something to keep in mind when you rent a lens.
Great prices and great value in short time. I started to rent from this guys last year. I wanted to rent a Phantom 2 for an aerial session from a different company but two days before the event they told me that they did not received the gear on time so they will not be able to provide the phantom 2. I searched online for a different company and I found The Lens Depot. They managed to send the gear overnight for a decent price in Suwanee GA. This year 2015, I rented a Phantom 3 and a 70-200 mm Canon lens for around $300 for 6 days. It was a good price. I stronly recommend this company
Their new location in Tampa is much better! The process was super convenient after the initial step of sending my license to their email (they need to know who they are lending their expensive camera equipment to). Definitely will use them again!

This company is the best company ever. They are so professional and helpful. If it wasnt for them I wouldve paid for extra equipments that I wouldnt need due to the lack of knowledge. So regardless if you have the knowledge about the equipments you need or not you are still good because they have professionals that knows what they are doing that can help you out. The quality of their products for the price is breath taking. Before I called them I had called another company for the same equipments they quoted me over $3,000 and with lens depot I barely paid $600. Iam beyond happy because the quality of my work was so good people are asking me to hire my camera guys to do their events for them.

I have worked with plenty of rental companies such as this one but this is the worst. They literally stole our money and refused a refund on top of forcing an entire professional production to be postponed. I strongly recommend The LensPal they are in the same area but much more honest and helpful. If you want to rent broken products that have clearly been temporarily fixed and hope that you dont get ripped off from your deposit this would be your bottom dollar spot. But if you are professional and quality is important than avoid by any means. Theres nothing as bad as a crooked company.

I have been dealing with the Lens Dept for at least 4 years. They are a great company who has really come through for me in getting the best equipment for all my automotive photo-shoots. They have a very nice selection of equipment and fairly central to make for easy pick ups.
I have used The Lens Depot many times. I have always had friendly customer service. My order has always been ready when picking up. My returns have always been smooth and they even send confirmation emails after you drop off. I even returned items that I had accidentally dropped and they didnt make me feel like a @!%#. I just paid the deductible and thats it. I would recommend buying the damage insurance. I used another vendor once and it was such an awkward experience that I wont be back. Give The Lens Depot a try.

I realized when I got to the airport that I forgot my camera, and was fortunate to find The Lens Depot through an online search. They had the exact camera & lens I wanted, and overnighted to my destination. I knew I wouldnt be available to sign for it so I had it shipped to a nearby UPS Customer Care center. I was pleasantly surprised that my package included a pre-charged battery and a charger at no additional cost. Ive never done this before, so I have nothing to compare it to, but I felt the price was quite reasonable. Everything was well packaged, and returning was easy, with return shipping label included. Great service!!
I rented GoPro accessories and was able to pick up the equipment on the same day to use on my skiing trip to Utah with the family. I was charged $34.24 for 9 days which seemed pretty reasonable. The day I was supposed to return home, my plane had engine problems which would delay the trip home. Since I was delayed one day, I had to pay for an extra day. I called Lens Depot and they charged me for one full day $15 which is way more than I expected. I realize that they have policies and rules, but under the circumstance I was hoping they would have allowed the prorated price for 10 days. Because of the high charge for the extra day, I am giving them only 2 stars. I know I probably should have paid for 10 days upfront, but I how was I supposed to know that I would have plane troubles.

Absolutely worst service in the area. Came to pick up a rental on someone’s behalf and the person was absolutely rude and not willing to figure out our order. And then continued to make snide remarks accusing us of fraud because they want to use a dated means of communication through email.This experience was belittling, I was just a middle man and was embarrassed to even talk to them.I am a very patient person and accommodated their miles of paperwork and humiliation, with their degrading language.

Rude at levels so high I cant beleive they are still in business. So rude I waited in my car for what I thought would be a sufficient enough time for him to inspect and check in the equipment I rented. I also paid for an entire day, however he had equipment in hand at 10a because he demanded that. Im shocked at the lack of real professionalism and pride this place lacks. Clearly this company doesnt have enough competition to be run so poorly.In a year from now, mark my words, Ill open a competing business. Our company has rented from them for years. Last rental was extended twice by us using the same credit card. The third extension for some reason the card bounced. Instead of contacting us asking for a solution, they threatened me that they were going to report me to the police in two hours if I didnt respond.. The police.. haha. Nothing makes long time customers happier than being accused of stealing. That said, we spent 4K with lensrentals dot com a week later and will never use these crazy people again.
Everyone at The Lens Depot is super friendly. They always greet me at the door, ask how everything worked out, and answer any questions I have.Yes, they send emails to confirm your order and send out reminders when your equipment is due back.I dont see what the issue is with these other bad reviews.
I rented a teradek hdmi wireless tx/rx kit, small hd 502 (to be used as a client monitor) and a Variable ND filter for one day.The teradek kit came with 4 Wasabi batteries (aftermarket, cheap) which we tested before we left, everything turned on so I assumed everything was fine. The ND filter comes with a screw that I did not rigorously check I just saw it was attached and there were no scratches on the filter. I left straight from the rental house to head to Miami where my gig was. I charged the batteries on the way to make sure they were fully charged. When I got to the location I put the filter on my lens and I noticed the screw that locks the variable Nd filter in position was loose and it would not screw in therefore was stripped. The Nd filter still works and actually holds itself in position without the screw pretty well. As we begin filming within the first few minutes the teradek’s are not working properly, they seem to be dead but how can that be? I call the lens depot and the tech that answered acted like I was crazy for saying they just stopped working and they informed me that gear doesn’t just stop working. So already you can see how they are making me feel worse. The batteries they sent for the small hd were the same type but different brand and worked fine. Obviously because the teradek has no usable batteries I didn’t need the extra monitor because that’s the only reason I rented the whole setup is to have a wireless client monitor.When I returned the gear the next day to the lens depot, the tech Tom (who never introduced himself over the phone or in person lol) told me they would test the batteries and let me know what they found out and as for the filter that it was obviously broken because of me.Email from Lens Depot after testing batteries..“The equipment you rented from us has been received. Per our conversation at drop-off, or techs tested the batteries from the Teradek kit. Upon testing the batteries, it was found that all 4 are not holding nearly as much of a charge as they should. We do apologize for the inconvenience.We also tested the handle on the ND filter. If the threading on the handle is stripped, this can easily be replaced & is an inexpensive part. Unfortunately in this case, the threading on the filter itself is damaged. In this case, the entire filter would need to be replaced which is $180.Given the circumstances with the Teradek, this is what we’ve decided to do. We are going to take care of replacing the SLR Magic filter. On the Teradek, we are going to issue a refund back as store credit for the full rental amount you paid. You will be able to apply this to a future rental once you are logged in prior to check out. The store credit amount including tax after the discount you applied came to $97.26.Again, we do apologize for the inconvenience.Thanks & have a great weekendTom”The thing is they stressed that they check everything including testing the battery strengths which is obviously not true, so how can they be so sure the Nd filter wasn’t close to stripping. They even said they are thinking about renting the variable filter without the screw so why would they want to charge me for it?I wasn’t happy with this so I emailed back and that produced an email from Oscar who I guess is in charge...“NickTom has brought me up to speed on this situation. It is very rare when our equipment malfunctions but unfortunately it can and will happen and for that we all apologize for the great inconvenience this caused you and your client. Unfortunately I don’t take kindly to threats with reviews etc and I will be refunding you 100% of your rental back to your card the moment I get back into the office on Monday.
