I would recommend going to a different gym. They will ignore your request to fix machine equipment. One of the front desk employees is in the military. Extremely lazy and careless, can’t refill the towels upstairs and can’t take maintenance request seriously. I’d give the place a half a star if I could. Way over priced when the customer service is poor. Fix the dam leg curl machine. (Has been broke since April 2021.

We had a great time with the kids at the gym today. We played basketball and swam laps. This facility is really nice. The staff is very friendly, I’m going to schedule a spa appointment soon and will let you know how that goes! Definitely stop in and take a tour or try it out if you usually go to another location. It’s a great gym. I do wish they had a classroom that had free weights. They do however have several classrooms you can tuck away in and workout solo if a class isn’t going on. Overall 5 stars!

I have been trying to change my membership from family to individual for 4 months. Then canceled my membership. Still they are deducting monthly fees from my bank account for past 2 months. Very frustrating. Not professional at all. Anyone thinking of becoming member, please think twice before providing your bank account details.

This club is fantastic, best by far Ive used in 50+ years. Brock, Dan and staff are awesome, welcoming and helpful. Im always greeted by name (with a smile) when I check in. I highly recommend this club to anyone looking for the best.

They sold me on a 2 year contract. I joined because they sold me on the fact they had large sized hot towels available to shower afterwards and I signed up specifically so I could save time by showering after my workout. 5 out of the last 6 times I was here there were no towels for me to shower with after my workout. The one time they did have towels available they were not the same towels that I saw on my tour of the place, they were large sized sweat towels 1/3 the size that they had promised upon membership. I’m not one to complain but this is specifically why I joined this location, now they want a large sum of money for me to get out of my contract even though they are not holding up their side of bargain.

Stopped here on a whim (New Years resolutions) and haven’t left since! Pro staff and very helpful; very clean facilities and the variety in equipment and machines to use is top notch. The bathrooms are well maintained and I use them every time I work out. I especially love using the tennis courts and taking lessons here, the tennis pros are some of the best teachers I’ve had the pleasure of learning from.Overall, very happy and will renew my membership for next year!

My husband and I went to this location about 3 weeks ago for the first time. Everything was good until today. We dont have a membership. We were give some passes from their manager. Shes a very sweet and fun young woman. Unfortunately today was a disappointment. I dont know the young boy name that helped me. However he was rude and condescending over a simple question. Its because of that encounter that I wont be back. The other gym we went to was bigger and better anyway. Im not trying to discourage anyone from going here. Im only sharing my experience.

The only issue I have had so far is, I was promised a certain perk upon signing up and it turns out that wasn’t actually true. But other than that my wife and I love coming to this gym.

1 star for this inconsiderate, lazy and negligent gym. They refuse to fix their broken equipment even after multiple complaints. They also never fill their towels in the evening so sweaty members have no way to wipe their sweat and clean the equipment. No excuse for this.

Some of the equipment is nice. Beware of the people that want to make you feel uncomfortable. Wear ear buds so you can ignore the locals here and youll be fine.

I’m at the mid America rehabilitation hospital but my son, Ives the gym. He played golf for Wichita state and told the gentlemen that manages the gym in the mornings a few weeks ago and he told my son that was the original genesis club in Wichita. The people yesterday were so nice all my son does is rave about the gym, tennis courts are fabulous abd an amazing basketball court that no one else offers. My son is a champion athlete and former division one golf star and semi pro golfer. He loves this gym more then sny other gym Hess been to in the world.

Gym looks phenomenal!!! but the staff is even more incredible, Orlando did a wonderful job showing me the facility, very friendly, very helpful.

For starters I paid an additional. “$10” for this “premium club” while visiting KC that offered nothing more than the club I go to where I currently live. Which was more than I was told the fee was going to be. Couldnt find any type of Calf machine in the entire building. And last but not least, I wouldn’t recommend taking a shower here. If you’re taller than 6ft you need to duck down to shower. 6ft 2 and shower had was at my chin. And I had 0 hot water. “Premium” ha. Funny.

Very Rude! If you’re new, or a member at a different location they don’t want you!! I have never encountered such unprofessional service in my entire life. I have been going to the Overland Park genisis for about a month now with absolutely no issues but today and I was rudely dismissed and told that my membership wasn’t good there since I belong to another genesis, even though I had been going with no problem and had been charged on my account the upgrade fees previously, then when I returned after signing up for the free day pass I was met with even more hostility by the front desk staff. Considerably if the man had had the decency to kindly ask for the upgrade fee in cash like he was requesting with a directed and demeaning manner, I would’ve been more than welcome to oblige, despite never being required up front previously.

My partner and I are official Premium Level Members at the Genesis Health Club - Overland Park location in Kansas City. I would like to file a formal complaint about your front desk employee named Keith (refused to provide last name).We just had a tremendously disrespectful encounter with Keith at approximately 5:33 am (CST) on September 7, 2021. Keith informed my partner and I that our memberships are not Premiere Level memberships, which is inaccurate. We have been Premiere members since September 20, 2020. He informed us that he was the only employee available at the time. I expect Genesis to review the employee shift schedule to identify first and last name of the sole employee who treated us so poorly this morning.Keith proceeded to raise his voice and be aggressive towards me and my partner. I was genuinely fearful for my partners life. Not only was Keith unhelpful, but I truly believe his attitude was racially motivated. Keith was clearly weaponizing his power, and I was extremely uncomfortable.I have also noticed that you are taking additional measures to ensure that the other Black America patrons who frequent the basketball court are discouraged from entering the facility due to the following:1. Increased $20 fee on Saturday mornings specifically for Gold Status Black American patrons who frequent the basketball court (separate from $10 fee Premier facility fee).2. Signage of the front door to your facility specifically discouraging patrons to use the basketball court.Was our treatment today a direct result of your new local and/or corporate intentions to phase out Black American patrons at your establishment? Please advise.Your staff has remained incompetent and unsuccessful in transferring our Gold Status to Premiere Status. We have been charged an increased monthly fee for Premier membership since September 30, 2020. It is now September 7, 2021. We visit this location consistently each day of the week. Every time, we have to remind a staff member of our status. Every time, the front desk representatives blame the computer system and allow us to continue on with our workout.We even wasted our own time to fill out another paper application form to try to help your employees resolve this issue last month.In summary,1.Your staff has been unable to update our membership status in your system yet has remained able to charge us an increased monthly membership fee for precisely ONE WHOLE YEAR.2. Your employee Keith was racially discriminatory.3. Your treatment of other Black American patrons coupled with new signage and lack of customer service has me genuinely concerned for their safety.Keith was extremely rude, unhelpful, and very discourteous. I have never encountered worse customer service in my entire life. It was as if he had a personal problem with my partner and refused to engage in a civil conversation to resolve our concern. We have never met Keith before, and he made that very clear - which was odd that he would point that out. That should not matter since we have active Premier accounts and active Genesis Membership badges.When we asked to speak with management, Keith continued to raise his voice and reiterate that he will not be told what to do.I am fearful that Keith will be there when we return. He made me feel very uncomfortable and unsafe.I expect your team to deal with this matter expeditiously. As customers, it is important for us to know that our safety is a priority and I genuinely feel that our safety was threatened today by Keiths absurd and wildly inappropriate behavior.I have already reported this location to the Better Business Bureau for further investigation. Please refer to the Better Business Bureau Case Number: 14278680-0fd2-11ec-8d77-0e63a05a1194 for more information.We will see what additional agencies need to be notified in order to remedy this issue.

Since the remodel, the club looks amazing! For a tennis player, the facility is the best on the area. There’s a wide variety of leagues and drills for all levels. We have some top notch tennis pros. For fitness, the workout area is quite large, and they offer a large selection of classes. The club is very family oriented and offers something for all ages.

I would like to file a complaint against the front desk worker, Keith. My girlfriend and I was verbally assaulted on 9/07/2021 at approximately 0533.We are both members. There has been a continuous issue with SM account status. When we transition from the Metcalf location we upgraded our accounts to Premium. Membership Services has been aware of this and refuses to correct this issue. This issue was the genesis of the verbally assaulted initiated by Keith on 9/07/2021 at 0533.I was trying to explain to Keith the ongoing issue with the differences in account status between S and I. He was very dismissive and he started to raise his voice. When I asked if someone from Membership Services or Manager was available, he got upset. He stated, “…you’re not going to tell me what to do.” He began to acting like his pride was hurt. He then threaten to kick us out. We just left because we didnt feel safe.I have been a member at Genesis since 2016 and this is the first time I have ever felt threaten and unsafe at a “Premiere” location. I honestly fill this verbally assault was racially motived. I have notice small aggression being implemented to discourage Black Americans from attending this location.First, it was the fee increase from $10 to $20 for members that had lower status than Premium. This came about after ironically after the gym saw an increase in patrons that came to play basketball on Saturday morning, Monday evening, and Wednesday evening. Second, there is now signage stating that the basketball court is only available for Premium members.I have been a member at Genesis Health Clubs since 2016. I have enjoyed working out at the various locations throughout Kansas City. I’m starting to believe that you Genesis Health Club is actively trying to phase out the Black American demographic. The actions of Keith today proved it. Are these micro aggression apart of your onboarding training? Resolutions I want to see from this is for both, HM and SM, membership accounts to state Premium. That is what I signed up for when we transition from the Metcalf location after its closure.

Beautiful club. Always clean and the vibe is so upbeat. The staff all around are amazing. Front desk, trainers, spa, group x instructors and the guys and gals who provide the towels...tennis pros - they are all so friendly and helpful. Genesis is my home away from home. Feels like family. This is a great club. I have been coming to this location for 42 years and have seen many changes including 5 different owners. Genesis, the current owner for the past several years spent around $15 million dollars within the past year to renovate it. The club deserves way more than 5 stars now. It has everything! Amenities include workout floor, a running track, swimming pool, cardio machines, exercise, spinning and yoga classes, basketball court, large heated swimming pool, a spa (for massages and facials), a bar with a large selection of beers, wines, liquor, smoothies, shakes and excellent food. After your workout you can enjoy a steam bath, dry sauna, and hot tub. When you join, seek out the great people that run this club: Manager Brock Berlener, Front Desk Manager Jennifer Dylash, Café Manager Art Garza, Tennis Manager Mike Woody, and the Maintenance Manager Luis Alvarez. Our family has been a part of Genesis for about 3 years. Weve used the gym, play lots of tennis, and take classes. The staff is always friendly, welcoming, and eager to help find what we need to meet our health goals and interests. The managing staff, pros, and trainers are always looking for ways to keep things engaging and fun for members of all ages. We have made many friends here as well and spend a lot of time at Genesis events and then grabbing something to eat/drink at the cafe. Come give it a try!

This Genesis is in a class of its own even amongst other Genesis (Genesees?). It’s almost as if they are comfortable with being the best. They were never overly pushy when I was signing up. I signed up without reservation after being shown around the club. I have since found the amenities, staff and clientele to be exquisite. I usually come at about 7 a.m. and it’s never been so busy that I couldn’t get on whatever equipment I wanted. I highly recommend this particular Genesis to anyone.

I’ve been a member since January 1st, 2021 and I can honestly say this is the best gym I’ve ever been apart of! The weights are top quality and the staff is always so nice. Any fitness goal can be achieved here!

As a long term gym I suppose it may be a good service. However as for a short term enrollment I have only have issues with the service. Not only does none of the staff have questions in regards to enrollment or membership cancellation, but also on yhe way their service work, from the portal service, to the enrollment or classes. Hopefully they are able to better prepare their staff, and have more veriety on their membership packages to better fit short term enrollment.

I love this gym, it has alot of things to do, ot of activities and the people are nice. However, you should pay attention to the fine print and understand all the terms. Else youd spend more than what youd expect. Make the most of your membership and participate in the extra stuff and their classes.

The more you burn the more you earn. Great gym. I just hope they don’t go on the cheap with the upkeep. I have noticed a few things here and there that are broken or in not-so-great condition.Couple recommendationsGet new row machines for the upstairs. The ones that are there are old and feel like the chain has been rusted over.Add cameras to the floor. There used to be a ton of rope attachments but now there are only 2. I noticed a guy stuffing one in his bag last week (wasn’t sure if it was his or he was stealing).

What I like about Genesis health club in Overland Park is the fact that it is a new facility, the amenities, the amount of tennis courts. The Tennis program ran by Coach Katie is absolutely terrific. My daughter (4 yrs old) can’t wait to go to her group lessons on Sunday. The hot steam room is a wonderful added value that I use each time I go. The staff is always welcoming and will answer any questions we have. The daycare center is terrific when open. I have recommended Genesis already to co workers and friends and have signed up Taylor Oakley and Dolan Oakley. They also have enjoyed the facility!

First off the 3 stars is not bad, bad. Lol! The reason for the 3 stars. Because when I joined the ball of getting me to know the gym was dropped 3 times. The staff is very, very nice. But showing me around and making promises to me was the downfall. Other than that.... Its been corrected! I have a wonderful trainer (finally)! They have sooooo many amenities to this fitness center. How can you not join?! I am starting to feel at home here. :)

Extremely welcoming environment. Very professional and clean. Not much of a fitness person but felt that it has all the resources to work at my pace as well as scale into the future.

Still no handicap accessible doors in the front entrance. The 2nd floor where the treadmills are located, are facing the sun every afternoon and evening. So you are being blinded by the sun and you are not able to watch the televisions that are on the treadmill. I have requested several times to offset the treadmills or add curtains. Those requests fall on deaf ears.

The mix of workout equipment, tennis, swimming pool, sauna, basketball, aerobics, and a leisure area with a great staff makes it an all-in-one facility. Everything you could ask for under one roof.

WATCH THE FEES! There is an annual update fee that you get charged, EVEN IF YOUR ACCOUNT IS ON A FREEZE. I can understand the annual update fee if I am an active member putting any sort of wear-and-tear on equipment. I wish I would have just cancelled when I went in the first 2 times and they convinced me to put my account on a freeze. It states right on the freeze form that it was a $0/month freeze. To make things more difficult, you have to go in person to cancel your membership. I guess the 2 times that I got to use the club before they closed it for renovations and then for COVID turned into a really expensive 2 visits.

No handicap accessible entrances. Management months ago was told, but nothing has been done. A big flower pot blocking the main entrance as well. Cannot get wheelchair around and no handicap accessible buttons on either doors.Big flower pot has been removed from handicap ramp entrance going to the front doors.But facility is still not compliant with Federal ADA laws due to the fact that the facility was renovated and this will cause the facility to get into current Federal ADA law and guidelines. Right now, there is no way a person to enter the thru the front doors in a wheelchair or walker without assistance from another person. All that is needed is handicap access controls (buttons) so that both sets of doors can be opened to allow access with a walker and wheelchair. Simple fix.Thank you very much!

First I was ignored by the women at the front desk I guess I was a ghost, when they did get someone to help me I had the guy tell me how expensive the gym was, its the premier club, I guess he could count the money I my pocket. So I guess I will take my poor a## somewhere else.

I love the staff and jeninfer is amazing if you need help just ask the staff if they dont know the answer they will fine someone who can help!!

Great facility for tennis. All of the pros and staff are incredible.

It would be unfair to review the full club as it is today because it is under a major renovation, so I will limit my remarks to the tennis club. First, the courts are in perfect condition and the tennis staff is excellent. They go out of their way to help you find ways to play and are very focused on serving their members. They offer a complimentary evaluation of your game so that you know which classes and leagues are appropriate for you, which makes the game more enjoyable. I like cardio tennis classes for a great workout and play regularly. They offer fun triples tournaments every couple of months and they make for great social opportunities too. Finally, the artist renderings of what will be the renovated club suggest it will be pretty spectacular when finished.

They have the best instructors. Mendi Mandy Kara to name a few. Everyone is very friendly and helpful!

I teach Barre on Tuesdays at 5:30pm. I would love to see you in class! Its clean and we social distance. Burn lots of calories!!!!!

We had tried multiple times to cancel our membership. Chris was horrible at returning phone calls, and emailing us the paperwork in order to make this possible. When I finally spoke with him he assured me that I needed to give him the benefit of the doubt. When given the track record at this gym, we have had no reason to do that. We were charged for the months the gym was closed due to covid, and then were not credited until we voiced our concern that this wasnt right. Sure the gym is pretty to look at with all of the latest and greatest, but be aware of poor management and dishonesty. Our membership has supposedly been canceled, and Chris told me he was emailing a written statement, which I have of course not received.The gym underwent a huge renovation during our membership. Many amenities we were promised as included are not, and are an additional fee. Either there is a communication breakdown between staff members, or they are overall dishonest with members, or likely both.More recently concerning us the lack of precautions taken for covid. Early on, forhead temperatures were always taken upon arrival. On every guest. I would be happy to wait to have my temp taken. However, they have slacked up on that a bit, and sometimes theres not even someone at the counter. If there is a group of people all coming at once, maybe half of them are getting scanned in my observation. Frequently hand sanitizers are empty, and towels in locker rooms are piled up. There is also no where enough spray bottles to keep equipment sanitized. For a facility that prides itself on health and wellness, less than the minimum safety protocol is the standard at genesis.

So far this gym has been amazing, the facility is top of the line and I can safely say this is one of the nicest gyms I have ever been too. It is expensive but you get what you pay for! For me its worth every penny, I challenge you to find a gym this nice and with as much and unique equipment in KC.

The hot tub is freezing cold and green both times i went.... i mentioned this about the ward pkwy one and they got it top notch till it just broke maybe u can get that guy to look at it? The equipment is actually better maintained but the hot tub us cooooolld🥶🥶

The Genesis health club spa is amazing! My back was not feeling good with a lot of knots and tension, and the massage I had there was fantastic and I feel so much better! I highly recommend anyone who needs spa time to definitely try this out. The price is also amazing for what you get.

Pool, jacuzzi and layout. I also enjoy stopping by the bar and grabbing a protein shake before I leave after working out.

DO NOT join this gym. Once they have your credit card information youre screwed. Ive been trying to cancel for 2.5 months. Im a long time member from a club they purchased so Im not even under contract. No matter what you do or what they say they WILL NOT stop charging your card. Look at their rating with the better business bureau, they have received hundreds of filed grievances recently for predatory and deceitful business practices! Good luck to those of you who already joined.

Good workout place really clean, with a helpful staff and all the equipments are advanced than what you could expect in many other places. It was my first being there but liked it. I will definitely do it again. They have many personal trainers if youre ever interested. They will provide you lockers.

Genesis is by far one of the best fitness & tennis facilities that I have ever belonged to. Not only is everything newly renovated and all the fitness equipment brand new, the programming, especially tennis, is top notch. It’s very easy to get involved and feel a sense of ‘community.’ The staff is friendly and all the tennis pros share the passion and are dedicated to growing the game of tennis, whether it’s the adult or youth programs. I would highly recommend Genesis-OP if you’re looking for a top notch fitness facility or a place to start or continue your tennis journey.

Overall I really enjoy visiting this Genesis! The new remodel is gorgeous and it a really awesome place to work out! The atmosphere is really light and bright and makes it one of my favorite places to work out! I have been visiting this location since my gym in Merriam is temporarily closed for a remodel, I was told I could visit this Premium location, though I’m only a gold member, for the inconvenience. This was great news since it’s the next closest location to me. My only complaint is there is a woman who is occasionally on the front desk (I believe her name starts with a T) who no matter how many times I have explained my situation to her will always look at my account after scanning in and rudely inform me that I must upgrade or pay $5 because it is a premium club, which I am at this point well aware of. I would happily pay the $5 if I had just decided to visit the club for fun, but I am only doing so because my club was closed and I was told there should be no problem in me visiting this premium club in the meantime. I totally understand that these may be the rules she was told, but not only have I explained my situation countless time but I have spoken with other managers and people on the front and they see no issue. There seems to be a lack of communication here, or she is simply being somewhat snobbish and unwelcoming to guest which is really unfortunate because overall, I love the location and amenities the club provides but this does put a damper on my experience with this location.

Let me start by saying I like Genesis as a company. Just this location in particular gave me poor service and the staff at the front desk is not very knowledge and kinda rude. It’s sad how poor service leaves a more lasting impression then good.

The remodel and improvements at Genesis are great! but what makes Genesis the best is their staff!! I have never had more fun paying tennis, and the fun that every tennis pro brings to the courts is awesome. Everyone is always welcomed and to see everyone laugh and work hard is great to see!! I have really enjoyed the positive professionals a lot, and would always recommend Genesis to anyone!!

Dylan was my Sales Rep and he was great to work with, he was so patient with me explaining to me different membership options that are available; he also helped me set up my first session with the trainer to make sure I’ve been taking care of; his kind follow up after my first visit to check the gym is what made come back to sign up, Thank you Dylan for the great customer service you have!

Been a member for some time now, visited the Renner Blvd location and informed I was grandfathered in. But now Im informed I have to pay? Misinformed information didnt make this visit pleasant. The facility is nice just didnt appreciate being mislead.

Worst gym in the metro. Over priced day spa with part time hours. I have injured myself 3x because they think its fun to flip the lights off while pressing weight. Staff is rude and gets enjoyment out of harassing people and trying to be a distraction while lifting. Total bait and switch from an actual gym like 24. Its a shame I can only give 1 star. RUN AWAY!!!

Cancelled my membership and continued billing me anyways. EDIT: issue resolved and review changed to reflect that.

First time back to the gym since the covid shutdown. Its been closed since mid March. I was very pleased with how clean and well maintained the club was. But from my experience, its always been well maintained. There are several signs reminding to wash hands, wipe down equipment and practice social distancing.

Tennis facilities are great. The Tennis pros are terrific. Love the overall vibe of the club.

Update!!! Genesis took over and has gone down since. They charged an enhancement fee which is NOT in my contract. I have talked to five people five times. The general manager was to call me and never did. Discover card services said if they have charged more than one person an enhancement fee and it is not in your contract, it is a class action suit. Next up, calling the lawyers.Prairie Life was nice. Then the Athletic Club came in to remodel and did a disastrous job. The paint job is sloppy and they took out half the lockers. Now Genesis bought it and is charging everyone an unannounced and not agreed to enhancement fee. Go anywhere but here. It is dirty and the new owners are horrible. They care about your money and not you.

I’m not very fond of this location due to the receptionist having a bad attitude.

My daughter is taking youth tennis classes in Genesis. Coaches are professional. The court is great. People here are nice. Broc, the assistant manager and other staffs helped us a lot. We all have a good time. It is like our second home, kind and warm:-)
