Jose Pepper’s in Overland Park offers a bright and lively environment to enjoy great Mexican food. Their service is great and they keep the chips coming. The manager at this particular location is always friendly and he runs a well oiled machine. Their crispy tacos are freshly fried and absolutely delightful. And their jalapeño margarita is a big treat.

The food is great!I would say the portions are pretty good for the price. The only complaint I have was the place was a bit dirty on the ground, so maybe I would would vacuum more often?This didnt bother me too much.

Excellent food, was well seasoned, not overly hot. You will not leave hungry. They do require face mask to enter, was plenty of space between seated tables, plenty of parking in the area. A little hard to see from the road. The place is nice size, lots of Tvs. Has a nice menu, also includes a lunch menu. Staff friendly and attentive and checked back shortly after being served to make sure all was correct. The plates are HOT. A definite recommend..

Took two great-grandkids to the one in Mission. Worst service weve ever had. We were seated and then totally forgotten. Had to finally ask for service and was able to order. When the meal was brought, one child had to go to the restroom and I asked that the table not be cleared..we had not eaten at this time so the table was quite full of food and drinks. The waitress said she would mark the table and keep an eye on it. When coming back from the restroom, our table had been totally cleared. I explained to the manager and will never go back. Its difficult when you have young children to wait to have everything made again when we had already waited so long. Couldnt wait to get out of there and wont go back.

I had a great time eating here! The food was pretty great, I got a burrito bowl and queso dip with chips. My boyfriend got tacos and a set of grilled chicken with melted cheese stuffed in fried jalapeños.

Had a great family late lunch for my moms and nephews birthday. They sat 9 of us quickly with no problems. The food was delicious!!

Ordered the fajitas without the beans. They refused to give me the two tortillas if I didnt have beans on my plate. Manager said no problem and was very kind but his server or kitchen staff would do as he asked. The server refused to even get the manager,had to have the host get him. I went to this Jose peppers on Friday August 6th and sat at the bar. I wanted some tacos so I ordered their 2 crunchy tacos with beef and also ordered a strawberry frozen margarita. The tacos and the margarita were all amazing and so good. But unfortunately my experience went from being great to very disappointing once I asked for silverware to eat my rice because I wasnt served silverware. I asked the man behind the bar for silverware and he politely handed me some. As I began to unwrap my silverware I started to notice that I was served dirty silverware and that was unacceptable. I have NEVER been served dirty silverware at any restaurant before and could not believe it. My silverware had food on it and was not cleaned at all. I immediately called for a manager and waited for him to come. The manager was very nice and apolized for the experience I had. He also immediately told me that he was covering my food and drink and how sorry he was. The reason that I have decided to give three stars is because of how professional the manager was and how he immediately gave me everything for free because he could tell how upset I was and how Unacceptable it is to be served dirty silverware at a restaurant. Even though the manager did take accountability for his staffs actions I will not be going back to this location to eat!

Always a great choice for Mexican food. Love their espinanca, tacos and cheese and onion enchilada with extra onion! Thats my go to but I have had many things on their menu and never been disappointed.

For several years I would give them four and five stars! Food is always on point hot and delicious. However today I did a curbside and my online order was 25 minutes past the promised date. Order looks correct as Im driving away. I am hopeful.

Food was very good. Curbside was very busy so my wife went in to pick up food. Despite the wrong name on the order, the pickup process was relatively smooth and manager was overly accommodating for the error. Great customer service.

Portions to price are perfect!!! I had the taco salad. The only critique Id give is use a romaine lettuce over shredded iceburg. I also had some of Tequila lime Chicken which was Amazing. The meat was tender and full of flavor. Lastly I had the Mini Chimichangas. Great for a small snack. Almost forgot to mention that the salsas have great flavor and match well with the thinner chips. Id definitely come back and recommend Jose Peppers to a friend

I usually like this place but our waitress, Meghan, came to us two times: to take our order and to give us the check. She didn’t even bring out our food to us nor did we ever get a refill on our drinks. She was rude and didn’t care about us. The food also made us feel sick. We even had to ask a different waiter to get us something because she never came to us. Check your people!

Great service and food. I have been to this restaurant several times. Both dine in and pick up. One of the employees was clearly just getting to work or coming back from a break when I pulled up for curb side pick up. She could have walked by and made me call but stopped to get my name as she walked in. This saved me time and effort.Also, the vegetarian quesadilla is amazing!

Really disappointing. The chips were greasy, the wait was long and the food was cold. The only reason I gave 2 stars was because Modelo’s were only $3 and that’s hard to beat! It was a Thursday night and they didn’t seem that busy but they were rocking out the carry orders.

Excellent service, and the typically tasty, filling food. Good queso dip, and my fiancé and I shared the chicken and chorizo burrito - filling enough for both of us! We always leave Jose Pepper’s satisfied!

The food we received when my husband and I ate dinner there last night was horrible! It had an odd taste like it was microwaved. I only.took a few bites.when I couldnt eat anymore.. The tamales didnt taste or look like tamales at all. The chips that came with the salsa were so salty they were unedible. I will never eat at this location again. I usually eat at the 144th and Metcalf location and I regret going to the 103rd location. The only thing that was good was the ice tea and our very nice server.

Out of all the places weve ordered curbside pick-up from during the pandemic, Jose Peppers has been the best! Not only was the food delicious and hot and not soggy, but online ordering is easy, curbside pick-up is fast and efficient, and they package the food super well! I ordered a carnitas chimichanga and all of the sauces came in individual containers to keep the chimichanga crispy longer. Plus, I love their salsa and queso. Weve ordered from here twice in the last couple months and will continue going back!

I eat here all the time and love it. Nice atmosphere and I always get good service. Ive gotten quite a few of their dinner plates and cant complain about anything. The chips and salsa is pretty good, along with the guacamole. Definitely recommend stopping in and trying it.

Jose Peppers is great and has been for thirty years+, but you need to pick it up yourself.Doordash is the exclusive delivery agent. DD doesnt care about delivering fresh, hot food, only delivering maybe room temperature food when they get around to it.DDs problems are that 1) they cant coordinate their drivers pickup with the food preparation; 2) The drivers usually have two deliveries to make, which means that your food may be delivered 30-45 minutes after it was picked up; and 3) DD couldnt care less.No matter what the restaurant, what the order, or what time of day, Doordash will deliver it cold. And usually screwed up.AND THEY DONT CARE!

Stopped in for a quick lunch, was a nice little place to eat, not my first time my any means. I stopped coming here for a long time because the food quality had gone downhill. To my surprise, it was getting back to where it should be. Ordered the lunch portion of the Monterey Chicken Burrito, without the tortilla. Perfect size for lunch or dinner. The Overland Park location is much better than the Olathe restaurant, in my opinion.

Jackie Monica Darren are the awesome people here at Jose Peppers if you ever go in there ask for Jackie or Monica Darren is like the manager there but he is awesome and Jackie and Monica are awesome I eat there like two three times a week thats the only reason I go back is because of them

Terrible food, and staff didnt stop the drunk homeless men from sitting by us and hitting on myself and my daughter. They kept walking in the kitchen stumbling around hitting on the waitresses and they didnt call the police. Their own staff were uncomfortable!

Would give 0 stars if I could! My husband and I tried to go in tonight and stood at the door for 5 minutes with no one to greet us or bring us to a table. We made eye contact with several employees and not one came to help us. 2 servers standing near the front door (who we also made eye contact with) started arguing about doing silverware and started cursing at each other very loudly. How trashy to do that at the front door of the restaurant that you’re working for. We have both worked as servers, and I couldn’t imagine acting like that in front of guests. The only good that came out of this is that we went to Mi Ranchito, who has the BEST Mexican food I’ve had in a while. If you want professional service and good food, go there instead.

Jose Peppers is a 1st class Mexican Cuisine restaurant. We ordered a family pak chicken enchiladas and espinaca cheese dip. It was curbside pickup it was done on time when we got it home it was hot and ready to eat.Whats nice is when you dine in the servers work as a team to keep chips, salsa and your beverages topped off . Its been my wife and my favorite since 1988. 103rd and Metcalf

I can only speak to the Jose Peppers at 143rd & Metcalf because I dont frequent the others in town, but I have to say they are really there for the community. Whenever I have a special occasion, ie, New Years Eve, Super Bowl, I always call and order their espinaca dip to go. Its so addictive and always the first to go in appetizers. Its also a bonus that they provide you complimentary chips and salsa with your order. Their steak and jalapeno goat cheese towers are something else too. As for their entrees, you cant go wrong with anything on the menu. What I also must praise them for are the teenagers who will meet up there with friends and just order Cokes and theyre still treated like a valued customer. Thats why I say theyre there for the community. Almost forgot, their salads are really something too!

Server was too otherwise occupied to pay attention. Mistakes at all phases of out dinner...chips, drinks and entree. Food totally cold. We did get our meal comped, but I think well stay w the Olathe restaurant.

The food is consistently good here. Service is usually great. We made it for happy hour and were told they were out of all draft beer so we would have to buy bottles of beer. I asked the server if they would be the same price as happy hour drinks. He said they would be. When the check came they were more expensive. He told me that was the happy hour price. I understand driving up sales but I knew he was lying to me. It’s just a shame that a place we like came down a notch or two.

Great food! Super delicious! Even the chips and salsa were so tasty. Brooke was our server, & she was outstanding. Attentive without hovering. She was fun and graciously laughed at our jokes. ;) She was excellent and so was the meal. Whole dining experience with our large family was perfect.

For a chain, this is a Kansas City hidden gem. I go here often when I am in town. While the Tex-Mex is superb, I am not ashamed to say my favorite dish they have is the coconut crispy chicken salad. I ask for extra chicken. Its an amazing salad! Night bartender is great. Hes been there for years.

Get the espinaca dip! Steak and goat cheese wrap.. Good foor and staff are in masks and clean, clean.

Honestly, the worst service Ive had in a long time. Took 15 minutes for our server, Mary, to greet us. 10 more minutes to even get a drink out. Our order was taken, and about 10 minutes later we were asked if we had ordered already. Our food came out, and mine was fine, but my husbands order wasnt nearly what he requested. Other tables were waiting just as long if not longer for service and requested multiple times for a server to serve them. When I asked to see a manager, one never came out after waiting 20 minutes. This was our first experience at Jose Peppers, and Im super disappointed and embarrassed that I even suggested it. I do want to point out that I overheard Mary saying she was fairly new to the team, and was super sweet. This place really needs to step it up.

Outstanding restaurant in the area. If you are looking for fun people, great service and awesome food stop by. We had a group of 8 people and Christian took really good care of us. We enjoy stopping at Jose. We go there when we are traveling through Overland Park. The food is excellent and the Margaritas and beer is cold. Our server was excellent as well. Hi there, I just went to the Jose Peppers on 103rd Street in Overland Park KS for some lunch today and so Im writing this review on Google play, right now and so Ill be going back to Jose Peppers in about 2 more weeks from now. Ive been to Jose Peepers about 3 weeks ago and I really like going to eat at Jose Peppers.I didnt take any photos of this place when Ive visited Jose Peppers, but they do a really great job of preparing/serving lunch or dinner. I havent been able to go to Jose Peppers for brunch on Saturday/Sunday morning, but I think that if Jose Peppers has a brunch on the weekends, then Id recommend you go to the Jose Peppers whenever you have a chance to go to the Jose Peppers whenever youd like to go eat lunch/ dinner with your family or with some of your friends who enjoy going to eat Mexican food. :)

I realize it is Cinco de Mayo but I am so disappointed in my order tonight. I did not receive what I ordered. I asked for 10 hard shell beef tacos with fixings on the side. I received 10 hard shell beef tacos with lettuce, tomatoes cheese on them, that were somewhat soggy by the time I waited for my order. Due at 5:45 and I received it at 6:30. I also order 8 enchiladas 1/2 cheese 1/2 chicken. I received all chicken. I ordered two Espinaca dips. But did not receive chips or salsa with the order VERY DISAPPOINTING

We have been going to Jose Peppers at 103rd and Metcalf since they opened in 1988 and have never had a bad meal there its always excellent. The waiters and waitresses have always been five star rated in my opinion. It seems that they all work as a team to take care of their patrons.I usually get a fajita burrito but this time the waitress suggested something new they have a chicken fajita wrap it was awesome.Its the best Mexican restaurant in Kansas City as far as Im concerned.

Maybe it helped that we got here early for dinner (5:30) but we were seated right away and didnt have to wait for our food. I enjoy the shrimp tacos most but everything Ive tried has been great. Bonus points for not skimping on the tequila in the margaritas. Theyre strong!

Came to pick up an order placed online early in the day. Waited in a long line of about 30 cars only to be told that my ticket was there but the food wasnt quite ready 20 mins after my scheduled time. Ok, thats fine its Cinco de Mayo. I get it. Waited another 10 minutes. Watched people who walked up and placed their orders while Im in line come and go.....finally get my order 40 minutes after scheduled pickup time with no apology or explanation. Got home with my food and it was cold and unappetizing. Used to come here all the time, but pretty disappointed in the decline of service and quality.

Extremely yummy food. Sometimes can have a bit of a wait and the actual service can be slow. I would recommend this place to a friend for sure but avoid if on a tight schedule without having a little wiggle room. The longest we have been here (service time being the biggest factor) is up to an hour. The typical time (in the door and out) for a standard party of four is probably around 45 mins which isn’t bad but we usually go in knowing what we want.

I hate to have to leave a negative review but after 2 consecutive bad experiences I have too. First I thought it was just 1 bad apple (waitress) but tonight it was another bad experience of getting the order wrong, sending it back, having it come back still wrong, and all the while the waitress never checked on us once the food first came. Then she had the audacity to argue with us over us giving the order incorrectly and finally she never once apologized.Now usually when there’s an issue at most restaurants a manager will come by to check on you but here they never did. We actually never saw a manager that we could talk to about the situation the entire time which is why I have to give this review.

Best dine in experience we have had as a family in a long time. From the time we walked into the door to the moment we left, the Hostess, Manager, our Server, Marques were amazing. It was myself, my 2 Sisters, and my Daughter and the food was amazing and our server was very attentive to not only us, but the other tables around us. Def will be the only location we visit.

We hadnt been in a long time but we were in the neighborhood so we decided to give it a whirl. The food was very good - fresh, hot, plated with pride and care - quality ingredients. Service - not so much. Our server was a nice guy but we had to repeatedly ask for our drinks, water refills, etc. so thats why Im not giving more stars. We will try again - food was good enough for a 2nd chance.

Sat at the bar. Great service. Happy hour is unbeatable. $2 beers and $3.50 margaritas put every other restaurant to shame. Plus the happy hour food specials are incredible. Make sure and stop in.

Very Tex-Mex. But the food is really good. Great servers and a hostess too. I had Chicken and Avocado Enchiladas and my mate had a cheese crisp salad. Both were yummy and you get a lot of food on your plate. Thin thin corn chips and good salsa. They have cilantro lime rice here. I also love the mini chimichangas with jalapeno cream cheese. VERY good! You should definately check this place out!

The food was great and the house margaritas were excellent. However, we waited 45 minutes for our food. I felt that our waiter was stretched too thin. We came on Memorial Day weekend when a lot of ball players were in town and they were very busy. I think they are very understaffed. All of the workers seemed very unhappy.

This is our fave mexican restaurant because they always take such good care of us and the food is better than the competition. The servers and management are always customer focused... They make our meal fun and tasty! Try them... You wont be disappointed!!!

I love this place. 103rd is the best one in the chain. But with the change in the hot salsa (for the worse) it is not worthy of the jose peppers name. Thankfully you can get the good hot salsa, just ask for it. Now their margaritas went from being the best in town to a convenience store dispenser which makes the margaritas taste like cleaner. I can only hope this is a temporary situation because i actually drive out of my way to enjoy the margaritas here and if this is the new level of quality i guess i wont be making that drive anymore. Sad thought after coming here for over 10 years.
