On october 7th my husband and I attended an auction in duchesne county with the assumption that they were selling all of the items that they had listed. my husband was interested in a very old colt rifle listed in the add. after watching a number of items, the auctioneer stated. (take a few minuets and bring up what you are interested in.) all of the higher value items were overlooked, or the buyers were told we will sell them later. after 3 hrs of this the auctioneer reluctantly put a motorcycle up for bid, after it had sold for what he felt was too low he became irritated and begin to speed through the cheaper items. At around 1 o-clock a bidder asked if he was selling the gun, he finally addressed the first of many requests, the auctioneer stated (if there are not at least 3 bidders i will not sell the gun.) five bidders raised there hands, as well as my husband. the auctioneer responded (well heres the thing, if this does not start at least $500.00 then i will not sell it because it is worth $1000.00 or maybe even $2000.00) my husband stated i will start the bid at $500.00 and without looking at him he said he was not going to sell it because it was too special. When we got up to leave, as well as a few others did the auctioneer said (we are finished the auction is over.) with a number of the bigger items in the add still not sold. We have gone to a lot of auctions over the last 20 years and have never seen this lack of professional behavior in the past. if an item has a minimum bid then the auctioneer will state that there is a reserve on the item and if it is not met then we will pass on the item. They do not not lead the buyers on until both partys are upset. If this is just a bad auctioneer i hope it is corrected . if this auctioneer is the owner, then bidder beware. and learn from our lesson with these jokers!!!
