I had received a quote from one facility for repair of a fender bender. The left front fender over the left wheel well had scratches on the paint and part of the fender, on the left side of the car, had been torn half an inch from the frame of the car. His estimate was $1,000. He was going to order a replacement fender, which in my Avalon is one piece going from the back of the left wheel well, all the way around the front of the car and going to the back of the right wheel well.I recognize that this means a major replacement of the lower part of the front of the car and a paint job so the color matches the rest of the car.So I went to “Fix Auto” and he estimated roughly about $900. I asked “How rough?”He asked me how concerned I was about the scratches. My Avalon is 14 years old and has multiple paint chips from small rocks hitting the front of the car.I pointed out the paint chips and replied, “Not too concerned.”He asked me for the keys to my car and for me to wait in the office.I complied. Twenty minutes later he returned. The scratches were still there, but the part of the fender over the left wheel well was completely in place!I asked him “How much?” He replied, “It is free!” I countered with, “I will pay you $100.” He refused my offer. And, I know when to quit.He is an honest man.I recommend “Fix Auto” at 153 N. Cypress Avenue, Orange, CA
