Told us one thing to get us in the door. I was supposed to have a membership for my husband and I, childcare and a trial for our teen daughters. Ended up with a solo membership at a price higher than quoted for the both of us. Covid hit and we moved so we werent able to go to the gym but a few times. Theyve made it impossible to cancel. A nightmare I will never bother to frequent again. Plenty of other gyms that wont lie to get your money and force your business.

Disappointed that it is advertised as a 24hr gym but closes at 9pm on the weekends. Other than not actually being a 24hr gym, every time I’ve gone here the equipment is old and the space is NOT clean but who knows maybe that’s because I’m usually there later. For example they didn’t have paper towels to wipe the equipment or hand sanitizer when I went. However it did function well enough got me to get a workout in hence the reasoning for 3 stars instead of 1. Also to clarify I go to the gym solely to lift weights so maybe the other features are better but if you’re just there to lift weights like me I’d suggest one of the other locations or a PF membership. Also in NO way do I want this to denote from there other lovely locations that I frequently visit such as the westroads location and the one off 132nd and center.

I normally do not write reviews but I am so fed up with Genesis. I canceled my membership on July 3rd. I paid $100 to end my contract. However, I was charged on August 3rd and now have access to the gym until September 3rd! This company has so many hidden fees. Do not forget you also have an annual maintenance fee even if your account is frozen. I will never step a foot in another Genesis. I would recommend buying your own gym equipment or going to Planet Fitness.

Wife and I are interested in joining a fitness center. We walked into this Cass st location and were greeted by a woman that wasnt too interested in helping us and had more important things to tend to rather than make potential customers feel at home. I was given a form to fill out asking for names, phone numbers, and addresses. I said we just wanted to see what they had to offer before we gave out all our information. She got angry and demanded we provide Everything or we couldnt speak to a representative. This is the 4th fitness center we have visited today, all the others said walk around and see what we thought. I sure hope that bitter old woman isnt an accurate representation of the type of service this franchise offers its members.

Big fan of the sheer amount of equipment that’s available. The only thing you can really hark on is some members forget to put their weights away. Other than that it’s been more than a pleasant experience.

Really poor customer service and management. Unfortunately moving due to an emergency so cancelation is a must. No managers or anyone that could educate to where we could go cancel or what time would be appropriate. The teen looking guy kept laughing at us. I don’t understand what was so funny. The kid called his managers and got no answer until someone finally answered but was still no help. It was 3pm( business hours). The kid said his managers were both at lunch and they would be back because they had been gone for a while but he didn’t know when. Gave us no time, number to call or even directions to go somewhere. For a customer who has been with Genesis for 3 years and had no problem but now receiving this disappointing customer service it’s unfortunate. Do not recommend at all.

Fine space, equipment is up to par, basketball court too. Does not feel very clean overall though. Mens locker room, especially the showers and floors, seem like they are rarely cleaned. Pool/sauna area as well. If you only want to lift/cardio, this place works. Otherwise, there are better Genesis gyms in Omaha to go to.

Christian was very nice and doing everything he could to help solve my problem, it doesn’t matter if you pay the buyout on your contract they’ll come back years later and sue you for $1,500 because some employee made a mistake. Their lawyer is rude as well.

I canceled my membership at the end of March. I met with Quinn G. and filled out the cancelation paperwork. I had been going to Genesis for 22 years, but they recently increased their rates if I wanted to go to the updated westroads location. After cancelation they charged me an additional month because they lost the paperwork. I have complained multiple times and was told I would be reimbursed. I have waited over 3 months for reimbursement and nothing has happened. I plan to never step foot into another Genesis ever again.

Previously gave the place 5 stars, wouldn’t do that now, before there was someone there cleaning equipment filling sanitizer bottles and there were always paper towels in the dispensers and you could get a white towel at the desk. All this was taking place in the height of covid. Recently a paper towel dispenser was broke for over a week, no towels at the desk, was told one day they would be out of the dryer in 10 minutes, I watched didn’t happen. Seeing many members bringing own towels including myself. Sanitation bottles were plentiful, not now. Front desk attendants more interested in their phones. A lot has changed in the last year and not for the better. Covid is raising its ugly head again sanitation does not seem as important anymore. During the heat of Covid I watched a trainer repeatedly use equipment without sanitizing before or after using. Really!

Very sketchy business. They currently suing me and my family… so many hidden fees they won’t tell you. Their contract is fraud because once you decide to cancel it, it’s either you pay thousands of dollars or they will take you to court . They lie a lot about what’s in the contract. Horrible business practices. We loved the gyms, the amenities, the locations, but we will never be members there again. When pandemic shutdowns hit, they continued charging membership dues even though the gyms were closed. After a series of calls and emails, I was able to get them to pause payments, figuring we would eventually go back. Then, without any kind of heads up - no phone call, email, letter - they resumed taking payments from my account.The location where I signed up was closed for remodel. The closest location to me was permanently closed. I went out of my way to go to the Crossroads area to talk about my membership. Long story short, I ended up paying $100 and an additional month that I wouldnt use just to end the contract. (Im pretty sure that 36 month term was snuck by me upon signing. That one is on me for not being more insistent on viewing the terms of the agreement.) This should be the end of it, right?Months later, I get a voicemail saying I still owed a balance. I left a voicemail back saying I had settled my account and there should be no reason I owe anything. I did not hear any more about it. Then today, I get a letter saying I still them roughly $45. For what?I call the number on the letterhead and the call disconnects after 3 minutes of hold music. I call the club and the snarky manager acts like Im some kind of delinquent, telling me I owe for June 2020. Why havent I gotten any statements, emails, calls about this for the last 6 months then? They tell me that they have been trying to contact me?!? Other than that one voicemail Id heard nothing from them.I tried calling the number for Member Services. 4:50 p.m. and no one answers. No option to leave a voice mail, it just disconnects after the greeting plays.Beyond frustrated. This truly makes me sad because we liked their facilities, but no way I would ever be a member there again. This is the epitome of why people hate gym memberships.

When I walked in not one employee was wearing a mask and neither were the customers not only that but the manager I spoke to Christian. Was extremely unprofessional and got very aggressive and rude very quick for no reason and he also was not wearing a mask. Every since my card was scanned here I’ve been getting fraudulently charged for things I did not purchase. I would recommend you take your business elsewhere because genesis does not stand behind what they tell their customers. They will lie to you to make you happy and then continue to steal your money and from experience I can tell you the employees are just as bad as the company they work for. Do not get a membership here it’s not worth it.

Very poor cleanliness, no one wipes down their machines but not all their fault the employees never clean the towels and the paper towels are never filled. Also, i understand not wearing a mask while exercising but the front desk employee was not wearing a mask which is ridiculous and was making no attempts to clean the gym.

The steam room STAYS down every week it seems like... I pay a pretty penny so I would like full access to everything I pay for this is getting out of hand and Im over it!! Needs to be takin care of like the hot tub sanitized and disinfected EVERY Wednesday EARLY mornings would be better

Do not use Genesis if you can avoid it. Apparently I was “upgraded” to the Diamond membership and when I realized I was being charged double my membership fee they said they would not reverse the charges and I had signed up for it. I was shocked because I had a “trial” pass of 2 weeks for my girlfriend that I was told was free. Apparently they say I signed up 2 weeks after my membership started which doubled my membership that is apparently NOT reversible. After 3 calls in they finally got me on the phone with Skip the manager that set me up and he said corporate wouldn’t reverse the charges (this is after he was supposed to call me back after the first 2 calls). The second time I had called I mentioned I could do a stop payment with my bank since they were ripping me off for twice what I thought I had signed up for and he immediately went to telling me they would send me to collections. This tells me this is their go-to threat if you have an issue with them and instead of trying to make you happy they would rather sue me! I don’t know what else I can do at this point but all is I can say is I had pleasant experience with the clubs until I found out I was being charged double and then trying to get it refunded it’s apparently impossible. Very very deceptive!!!

I was a customer back when it was 24 hour fitness.Honestly the gym itself on cass is a great place. Staff is friendly and professional and customers are all super nice. My issue lies within the contracts. With the pandemic they arent offering any alternatives except to freeze your account for a fee. By the way, while theyre charging you a fee for freezing your account, it also doesnt take off if you signed a contract, it only prolongs your contract. Some of that is on me for signing the contract, but the contract says nothing about worldwide pandemics and their lack of understanding for customers concerns shows theyre only after money. Sketchy business mentality with no empathy or understanding to provide alternatives or waiving cancellation fees for customers in difficult situations. For those reasons I will never rejoin genesis again.

Edit: Removed a star the gym has gotten worse in the last year. Men just drop weight to the machines upstairs drop drop drop. Its more like a meat market then a place to workout. Added a new pick of one of their instructors laying on top of the clients. You take a tour of the gym they show and tell you all about the things they offer, but look closer. Not a single usable basketball in the court, mold in the womens showers, very few of the earbud outlets work on the machines, most of the employees are too busy talking to each other than working, the mens showers have no doors, and classes are few and far between. Positive is they are close. If ANY other gym would open in the neighborhood this place would close.

Signed up for a 24 hour genesis not a 7am-9pm on the weekends genesis. Even the sign on the door says 24 hours. You charge premium prices. For what? Dirty prison showers and old broken equipment? You’re employees can’t even be bothered to fill the sanitation’s bottles or bring more paper towels out. Year left on this contract and I’m out. Should have just stayed with anytime fitness.

Great facility & staff is good, not consistent with knowledge of policies. My complaints would be withing the contract, & terms I wasnt aware of... Upon opening a memebership went apx 2 times within 2 months before the covid pandemic struck. Upon Covid, I attempted to cancel. Thier best alternative was freezing act for a lower monthly fee until things returned to normal . Since then have attempted to cancel multiple times between different staff members non consistant communications. Finally managed to fill out paperwork removing bank acct info, they still pulled funds for auto draft, & upon my re-visiting again, being told they will require another substantial amount to close account after I already filed the bank account removal forms.

So I went in tonight to cancel. Let’s back up a few weeks first. 3 weeks ago I called 2 days in a row and left 2 voicemails to see what I need to do to cancel. No return calls. I wait a few days and call 3 days in a row with no answer. I decided to give it a week. Last week I called 3 times and left a voicemail...again. Still no return call. So tonight I went in to cancel. Canceled. Looked at my bank account tonight when I got home and saw I was charged twice. Are you kidding me?!?! First you don’t have the common courtesy and/or customer service to call me back and tell me what the process is to cancel. Then when I do cancel you charge me twice?!?! Absolute worst customer service Ive ever experienced. Ive always doubted why people say to avoid their contract but I had to learn the hard way. They changed the name from 24hr to Genesis but they still dont put the customer first.I had called a few days ago asking how to cancel. The guy at the front desk said come in any time before 9pm and someone will be there to help. So I came in around 6:30pm. When I got there, a different guy at the front desk said no one was there to help me and the guy I needed just left. He said I needed to come back.Mind you I had called at around 4:30 that day so it was a fairly short window of time from when I called to when I drove up there. I left a bit annoyed as you can imagine.I called today, the manager of that location was very rude and unkind. I wasnt annoyed at the beginning of the call but his tone started to escalate the call. Then he did the most disrespectful thing to his paying customer.This manager hung up on me for asking questions about how to cancel my membership. Wow????!!! I assure you I didnt say anything disrespectful or rude to him. Of course I was very annoyed and confused with their policy after driving up there to waste my time so I admit I wasnt in the brightest of spirits. Who wouldnt be? But i never said anything that would warrant being hung up on. It was a bit cruel and really hurt my feelings. He said have a nice day and hung up. I literally cannot believe it.Ive never had such a disappointing experience. I will not be going back. Before this call i might have rejoined but not now. Ive also never left such a low review for any company but people need to hear this.Ive been with Genesis for 3-4 years and have always paid on time. Im well outside of the early termination period so I assumed it would be hassle free. I would not recommend Genesis at all if you think you might cancel down the road because you will leave feeling like a piece of trash and regret ever joining. Plates are never organized or missing from racks completely. Cable machines are constantly broken. Gym etiquette is subpar. Rarely does someone unrack their weight on barbells, they just leave it as is and expect the next to clean up their mess.Gym members dont have the common decency, if a machine or area is being utilized by another member, to ask if machine or area is occupied. Instead they just assume that machine or area is open and take over.Would be nice to see employees enforce re-racking weights after use.Purchase new cable weights machines if possible.

The mens locker room is gross. Towels laying around everywhere. The shower heads are covered in what looked like years of calcium deposits. It also smelled like a combination of B.O. and deoderant. Do the showers get cleaned beyond the token spray down once a day? I doubt it.The paper dispensers and spray are few and far between so nobody really bothers to wipe down any equipment.What really irked me is there were 2 attendants at the front desk just chatting away. I go here because its open late once in a while but I actively avoid it most of the time.

I started my membership in January of last year. I am of poor physical health and need to be able to acess certain equipment which is located on their 3rd floor in order to exercise. I asked at the time of my tour if there was any other way to acess the 3rd floor otherwise the membership wasnt going to be for me. I was told at that time that there was an elevator, which there is, therefore I signed my contract. When I went to workout the first day I went to use the elevator and its A LOCKED ELEVATOR THAT YOU NEED A KEY TO GET TO THE 3RD FLOOR. I decided that I would try my attempt at the stairs since I couldnt use it. It hurt my knee so bad that I only was able to exercise approximately 15 Minutes before leaving.Fast forward a few months, COVID hit, the gym was closed for 3 months!, I was charged full price for the 3 months they were closed and couldnt call to complain or inquire because the gym was closed. When they reopened and I was able to call, they offered me free Stuff and other discounts but never would refund my money as they needed member dues to pay the staff while they were closed. WHAT ABOUT ME AND MY MONEY AND MY BILLS, I am not paying for something I dont need.They offered to freeze my account until this could get settled, 6 months later, I got a sudden charge on my account for the membership fees. When I called yet again, they said the freeze is only valid for 6 months.None of this has ever been explained. I just want out of the stupid contract at this point. I dont even care about the money spent. Keep it you obviously need it more than I do. But I dont want this on my credit because you dont follow through or call people back. By the way I called about this a week ago, and got no call back and the managers are always busy at the moment so I decided to do a review to see if that gets any ones attention. I am loss at this point as to how to get this resolved.

As an person who has dealt with Genesis and their many locations for over the past two years, I can tell you that in my opinion this is the absolute worst company to deal with and the worst gym chain in the Midwest.I have had problems at multiple locations (including this one) that have gone all the way up the corporate ladder to the Vice President and I can tell you that even at that level they are not interested in solving customer problems.They appear to be very interested in money and business, but beyond that they are not people-friendly. If you get online and read reviews of Genesis at various locations around Omaha, you will see that many people have the same issues. So, the problematic theme at this company has never been solved and continues negatively affect good people.They also have a problem with personal training. As a Master of Kinesiology and a Master Trainer with the National Academy of Sports Medicine, I can also tell you that they do not train people the way that modern standards recommend. Every location is different and will give different training paths - none of which truly train people the way modern trainers should.Please stay away from this company.

DO NOT SIGN THE CONTRACT. I signed on for a two year contract and was told I would go month to month after that. Here we are two years later and I get a bill saying I owe $850. They automatically renewed my contract without saying a word. Will never recommend this gym and I am not even close to the only one saying that.

The staff is useless and rude. The type of people who workout here are either meat heads or are extremely rude and trashy. Fun fact - I had a GM take my cell phone number from my membership application and proceed to call, text, and FaceTime me in the hopes of taking me out and undoubtedly try to sleep with me. Extremely professional. I called and complained until I got to the District Manager, who told me they’d talk to the GM... Sexual harassment isn’t a joke.

STAY AWAY! THE WORST thing you could EVER do to yourself is to join Genesis health club! Even when you’re think you’re done with this gym, they still try to find a way to get money out of you. I have wasted so much time and energy trying to have them correct their own mistakes. It was mistakes after mistakes and countless of attempts calling them and their corporates. Now even after I cancelled, they still bring me nothing but trouble. They called me up 6 months after my cancellation telling me I owe them money when in contrast, they owe ME money for charging me over Covid and never refunded me for it! Their billing department is seriously deficient. Their “corporate” -aka the people they told you to call if you have any questions about your account - is a group of untrained and unprofessional individuals who would get you nothing but more frustrations just from their lack of basic human decency.I have been a member of several gyms and Genesis health club is THE WORST of them all. A total nightmare!

Genesis health club is a terrible facility. Never clean never feel safe over charge. Canceled membership in November continued to charge account for 4 months owing us over $200. This has to be the worst company in the gym business ever. I have been attending health clubs for over 15 years. I am a professional bodybuilder and have never witness such poor customer service and disrespect for their members. Please avoid this company. This company’s goal is to trap members in a long term contract with over priced fees and charges. Promos upgrades but are still using broken equipment from the 90s. AVOID at all cost!!!

In February, I went in to cancel my membership as my two year contract was up and I was switching to a different gym. I was told my membership was successfully canceled. However, in March, I was still charged. I went in again to discuss with them. They apologized, reconfirmed that my membership was canceled, and informed me my money would be refunded. I still have not gotten a refund. Thankfully, I never gave them my bank account information. They only had my debit card. I paid $5 through my bank to get a new debit card and number in case they tried to charge me again. Very glad that I did as I am now being hounded by corporate for not paying my monthly fees, despite twice being told my membership was canceled. When I called corporate back, they informed me that I need to go into the location to cancel. I do not recommend joining this gym. If you do, DO NOT give them your bank account info. Use a debit or credit card that can easily be changed.

I truly love this location as it is very convenient. The staff working the front desk are always very pleasant and makes me feel very comfortable before I start a workout. There is always a machine available also. This location has the better basketball Court of all locations and keeps the court stocked with basketballs, never have to ask for them here like the other locations. Good atmosphere that always motivate me to go harder. No matter where I live I would choose only this location hands down

Just as many of the others here, i have been unsuccessful at canceling my membership. I have emailed, i have called, i have gone in. After finally going in despite having a vulnerable child as well as adult, i was told by the district manager that hed see what he could do if i got doctors notes. Otherwise it would be $200 to cancel. This feels strangely like extortion 200 or a doctors note?! If they can cancel for either of those then why not because i simply havent used the service since February? Bank branch manager told me they deal with this everyday and as other reviewers have said; theyll continue to try to charge until the bank account is closed BUT I will have to eat the loss because they run the transaction as if you went in, and your card and took the month home... not illegal but NOT straightforward OR honest. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE; YOUILL REGRET IT!!!

Really nice facilities. Staff is led by an awesome manager named Ryan. As with anything you use daily, youre bound to encounter issues. But what makes this a 5 star gym is the response you get when you bring issues to managements attention. If they cant fix it immediately, Ryan lets you know how this fits in to the long term plan. Really have enjoyed our experience here. Has made it easier to get to the gym 6 days a week!

I have been a member of several gyms in Omaha since I was a teenager. I can honestly say that the general vibe of Genesis (on Cass) is so laid back, warm and welcoming; I love it.Some gyms can be overwhelming. Not true for Genesis. The members at Genesis are diverse and friendly. The staff at Genesis are also incredibly friendly. I use the childcare center and just the other day I had a little heart to heart talk with one of the women who watches my son. She said she has worked in this gym for years and has really grown to love her job and the children she watches grow up!I also purchased a training package with Jon! He truly listened to me when I asked him to train me like an athlete. I have a very physical job as a Firefighter/Paramedic and I want to be trained as such. In the 5 weeks I have been training with Jon he has given me a no nonsense approach to my training and also explains the reason behind the training program. I am seeing the best results in such a short amount of time. I havent felt this strong or good in a long time!I highly recommend Genesis! I suggest coming in for a free week membership (as I had my best friend do) so you can experience Genesis for yourself!

Bad vibes....being a bit skeptical after reading recent reviews, we were still curious about the health club since it was close by and had the facilities in which we were interested. We were greeted in a most unfriendly manner, were not allowed to look over the facility unless an “advisor” or whatever they called him would escort us. Also, they would not tell us...the front desk people....what the rates were beyond some nebulous.....it depends and we tailor the rates. They would not even give us a broad range. Simply figured it was like the used car game to size us up and get whatever they could. Perhaps the facilities are nice, although my companion noted a lesser level of cleanliness upon entering, but I don’t do business with people that won’t tell you the cost of things up front.

The facelift this place has received under the new ownership is pretty spectacular. Lots of new fitness equipment and cool areas. The only thing I would like to see is more clocks everywhere to track time between sets. Sure I could use the stop watch on my phone, but for convenience sake and about 10 bucks a clock, I feel it would be much appreciated to us patrons. It would be nice to be in any area and see one clearly.

Its a good place. Staff at the front desk are usually very helpful and courteous. Thats important! Equipment is maintained well and new equipment has been coming in. I liked the schedule of work out sessions posted on the large room and hope to see it back. -- Just curious what kind of activity is going on. The transition from 24-hour fitness to Genesis was a bit slow but it seems now, 6-8 months later, to be complete. I wish Genesis the best.

I like that there are multiple locations and all have a huge variety of equipment to use. I am a huge fan of the kids club because I am a mother and before joining Genesis I was unable to work out due to not having a sitter for the kids. I love the sauna area. Theres a basketball court. Genesis has something for everyone at a great price.

I agree with the last review, fees, long term memberships that trap you into more fees. When you attempt to cancel they run you around in circles, charge you a very large cancellation fee then surprise they keep billing you and make you pay another fee. I literally got an email while trying to cancel that said Ill be out of the office until further notice then never responded again while continuing to take membership dues from my account. I have never seen anything like this place I would suggest going elsewhere unless you enjoy wasting your time and money.

Had nothing but problems with billing. I updated my card on file, for which the front desk never submitted. I kept accruing late fees and getting phone calls from corporate. I would go in to update my billing once again, for which the front desk still once again didnt submit the paperwork. I spoke to the Gym manager Ryan. Was told it would get taken care of and the fees waived. Going on 8 months from cancelling my membership. Still receiving calls from a situation I was specifically told was taken care of when I cancelled and paid to end my contract. Spoke to the new manager CT, was assured my account would be made current. Guess what, just received another call of being past due. He didnt do what he told me he was going to. In fact I called him back and his response was he didnt remember the conversation. Horribly ran location. The manager and employees do not stand behind what they tell their customers.

The gym itself is nice. Equipment is good and the staff is nice. But if you want to play basketball, good luck getting on. Just a bunch of guys running around recruiting their friends to play. So if you dont know anyone have fun with sitting for hours and never play one pickup game

I received a 7 day guest pass several months ago while I was still a member at my previous gym. Now that I am looking for a new gym I thought it would be a good time to use the pass and possibly sign up at genius. Upon arrival I was told my pass was no longer valid and they sent me on my way. They did not even ask me why I was there or if I was interested signing up. They must not care about getting new members to join their gym. They could not have cared less about my potential business. I will gladly take my business elsewhere to somewhere that takes a personal interest in my potential to sign up.

Best gym there is for weight lifting and building strength. The staff is incredibly friendly for the most part, and most of the people you see in the weight room are friendly as well. Its likely that youll see the same people every time you go if you maintain a routine schedule. Wish the pool was bigger, but thats hardly an issue at all!

Love love love this club. The cleanliness is top notch and the atmosphere is very inviting. The staff are well versed and definitely help you out with your needs and encouragement. Definitely worth it... especially those awesome classes. Shout out to Laurens Zumba class. Love It :)

If you plan on signing up make sure you know its a lifetime contract. I went into the military so i needed to cancel my membership and after having the manager see my orders and talk to my recruiter he stops the monthly payments but not the yearly fee. When I called they say they never got my orders or cancelled my membership but i stopped being charged monthly ? It was a long game with them and even the head office acts like youre just an annoying customer who doesnt know how to cancel your own membership.
