The last time I was here I was in elementary school in Tacoma in the early 80s. 40 years later and back in Washington and WOW!This place is absolutely amazing. The sound, the delta, Mt Rainier, seals, birds, fish, and crabs, tons and tons of little crabs. Theres so much to see and such a wonderfully beautiful and peaceful place to do it in.

This place used to be so beautiful now it seems to be suffering environmentally and there arent as many birds, but it is still home to blue herons. Well maintained trails and historic information boards.

Awesome hidden gem. Just off of I5 In the Nisqually area. Great trails with great views.Easy hiking/walking paths that are family friendly. I believe there is a small fee, but it goes to the upkeep of the area.

Love this place. $3 parking if you dont have a pass. The birds here are incredible, with varying riparian, freshwater pond and swamp, and saltwater tideflats. Most January/Februarys there are nesting Great Horned Owls. In the winter and early spring there are a ton of migratory waterfowl and the spring brings in hundreds of swallows to nest in the trees, barns, and banks. Always eagles, hawks, falcons, harriers, etc. to be seen. Theres a boardwalk that is built out into the mudflats that allows you to go deep into the estuary. To get the whole experience, expect to spend 3-4 hours and walk about 4 miles.
