Me and my wife stayed here and you MUST stay. Its incredible! its not expensive, its a nice romantic get away
One of the nicest B&Bs - in fact - houses Ive ever stayed in. Really welcoming reception and amazingly comfy bed. Through in a mega sized bath and the unique experience of having breakfast around the same table as the other guests and were sold. So sad were only staying 2nights.
We dont do B&Bs all that often, but when a Groupon coupon showed up for this one, it sounded like it would be quite nice. It is a very charming house dating from 1746, and has many original and well-restored details that give you a real flavor of a true New England colonial home. From the tiny front staircase to the wide board floors and working fireplaces in the rooms, this is an authentic experience, so be prepared to look at this as staying in a piece of history with its own quirks. Yet it has modern amenities that make your stay pleasant. We stayed in the Suite, which was quite spacious, including a nice four-poster bed and sitting chairs with stenciling along the border of the walls. The bathroom was fully modern, including a Jacuzzi tub/shower, and there was an adjoining room with a day bed/childs bed with a television and stereo. We were looking for a romantic place, and the details throughout, including the complementary wine and chocolates, certainly filled the bill.In the morning we ambled down for a generous breakfast next to a crackling fire (we visited in March on a cool weekend), with many fresh fruits, excellent baked goods and a souffle with sausages as the main dish. The help is very nice and made us feel very comfortable. There is wireless Internet for those wanting/needing it, and there are ample outlets available for so-inclined road warriors. The location is very convenient, on the south edge of the downtown district, so there are many shops and eateries within easy walking distance but its not a very noisy part of the street. The bells of the Deacons church stroke the hours during the day across the street, which also lends the location some charm. This is a definite must-return spot for us now, and I hope that you have a chance to experience it.
Cant say anything bad about the B&B! My wife and went there for our 1 year anniversary and it was everything we hoped, and more. The main house has a ton of character, and is everything youd expect an antique Colonial to be. The owner gave a sneak preview tour of the space they are renovating next door. Im very happy that they are maintaining all of the Colonial charm while bringing it to a modern standard. Also, the food needs to be mentioned, as each day that we were served breakfast was better than the day before. We cant wait to go back!!
Absolutely wonderful. The establishment itself is gorgeous—its a very charming and house, well decorated and recently renovated in a tasteful way that brings out the history of the house rather than covering it up.What makes this place special, however, are the wonderful people who run it. We talked with them for quite a while about the incredible history of the pharmacy next door (which they also own and operate as a B&B and cafe). Theyve taken on the project as a labor of love more than a business, and it shows in their kindness and enthusiasm.I wouldnt be surprised if this becomes quickly recognized as the best place to stay in Old Saybrook :)
Very nice place with great service! Owner was very friendly. Breakfast was beyond great!I recommend this place to everybody who wants to visit Old Saybrook!Greetings from Europe!
I have been to a lot of hotels and bnbs over the years. This place was by far one of the best. The owners take great pride in maintaining excellent standards for everything. The food is top notch. The rooms are incredibly clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated. The innkeeper was wonderful and accommodating even when I had crazy requests. The Cafe Marche has authentic Italian espresso and pastries. The owners also kept the original shelving from the days when the building used to be a pharmacy. The people of Old Saybrook are fortunate to have such a wonderful place in their town. The DTP is a wonderful establishment. I wish every review Ive ever written could be as positive as this one. If youre looking for a place to stay in eastern Connecticut, need a place for a quiet weekend away, want a comfortable place to put the in laws, or are a military family looking for a place near the base without all the hustle and bustle look no further (also ask for their military discount). You wont regret it.
-Beds were comfortable and rooms were spacious/cozy for a historic inn.-Inn keeper kind-Breakfast was lovely (we had quiche w/plum pastries, etc.)-Great location (can walk to dinner or grab a drink) and theres an old-timey parlor right below for ice cream/coffee creations or food!Highly recommend !
Stayed off-season at this adorable B&B. A great choice in winter because all the rooms have oversized jacuzzi bathtubs and working fireplaces. Very relaxing even if you just stay in. The breakfasts were fantastic too.
Place is nice except most rooms are upstairs in the stairs are dangerous if youre older pick another place
Had a great stay at this wonderful bed and breakfast. Stayed in the Hideaway room, which is a nice room. The smell of great Moroccan food was a great addition! Thank you so much for the great hospitality.
My husband and i went there for our honeymoon and it was a great place to stay. Very cozy and very nice place. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.
The bed and breakfast is located in the river side town of Old Saybrook, a small town thats easy to get to. Its walking distance from a main street where there are bars and restaurants. Its also walking distance to the shore.I stayed in the library room. The breakfast was great. The room is very nice with large bathtub equiped with jets. My room had working fireplace.Staff is very friendly.
My wife and I stayed here once.. only once. The lights didnt work, it claimed and in room fireplace they said couldnt be used. The women that checked us in was sweet and nice. The owner is a snake. My wife and I cleaned our room together prior to leaving. We ended up getting charged 500 dollars without warning and the owner wouldnt show us any pictures of what she claimed was damage. Cute. But never again. Im an old saybrook native. Many better places in Madison.
The B&B is in a beautiful historic house located minutes from 95. Room was very comfortable, the owner and staff are friendly and accommodating, and breakfast was excellent.
I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!! When I need to get off the hampster wheel I come here. The Library room is my favorite, I sit in the tub then by the fire and re-group. This is my Psycotherapy, I cant get enough.
Most welcoming and peaceful/tranquil place to stay... the Farmhouse!
