Divorce is a horrible process, no matter if you are giving or receiving it against your will. Beth helped me navigate this horribly painful time, and keeping me rational, on-track. She calmed me down with reason when I became emotional. She has trial experience with many judges, and has a great feel on how they will rule when the lottery assigns you one. Her advice kept me from going down roads that would waste time and money by facing trial many times. She is an advocate for negotiation and compromise whenever possible. Beth really tries to follow guidelines and negotiate any items that are contested. Her billing for service is fair, and accurate. The other parties attorney had used over 2k more than Beth needed or billed when all was said and done, as she is really on your side not allowing things to escalate into a personal battle. Carly was hired to mediate the division of my partner and Is house, that we both owned as shown in the title/deed to the property. At the end of our first mediation session, we were actually further away from coming to an agreement than when my partner and I discussed it on our own. I was offered less than 3% of the equity on the house. (Which all the lawyers I talked to said was insane.) Carly was argumentative and combative during the mediation sessions. She didnt use normal mediation practices, like separating the couples and listening to arguments separately. She raised her voice at me and told me to stop talking when I was in the middle of a sentence and at the end of our 2nd mediation session, (after my partner and I had to lawyer up) we both agreed just to handle it outside of the mediation. Since removing Carly as the mediator, things have gone a lot smoother. I wish I wouldnt have wasted a lot of money on a mediator that didnt follow standard mediation practices to deescalate a contentious matter. I would save your money and higher another mediator or just let both your partners lawyer and your own handle it.
