Needed some new retaining walls built for back yard. They were very professional to deal with and did the work for the bidder price. I was very happy with quality of work and will use them for future projects.

Needed an estimate on three retaining walls at our house. Had someone out to review my request. Guy was nice, discussed the concept and provided some options. Gave him my email address, he said hed email me the estimate soon. A few days goes by, nothing. I call to inquire about where it is, they tell me to allow 4 - 6 days for the estimate. Wouldve been nice to know up front. I wait over a week, nothing. Call again, and she checks and says hes still working on it...expect it in the next couple of days or so. Cant even get an estimate to me on time? Doesnt feel good.Were now over a month past that consult, and as you can surmise, I never received the estimate, so theyll never receive my business. Went with a local competitor who was VERY responsive. Looking at some other reviews, appears this isnt uncommon with Hometown.This company was a recommendation from a lawn group Im in too...very disappointing.

This is a reliable group with great communication. I appreciate their professionalism and I trust that they will complete a job. I would hire them again and I highly recommend them.

I contacted Hometown for a quote for several landscapes by items. They made recommendations and came up with a plan for me. When I received the estimate It was less than I expected. They got the work completed promptly. I would highly recommend Hometown Lawn.

We have been using Hometown for years for mowing, fertilizer and sprinkler system. They come over and are very personable and do a great job. We are very happy with all their services!

Hometown came out quickly, diagnosed the leak in my sprinkler system and fixed a wiring issue with my internet enabled sprinkler controller. They did great work.

Had them suggest and implement a drainage solution about a year ago. What it basically amounted to was tearing out our current grass and charging us to lay sod. The exact same pool of water still exists to this day that they agreed to fix. I called many times afterward to have them come back because it obviously was not done right. Office staff always said they were sending someone out. Has never happened. Currently having to get another quote from another company to rectify the issue. I would find someone else to work on drainage issues.

Only company I have ever used for my sprinkler winterization and wouldnt change.

This review is not on the work, but rather the process to get a quote. I tried to get a quote for a drainage issue in my back yard. They charge $150 to have someone come out and take a look. Gordon Energy and Drainage came out previously and provided a free quote. I was told, We charge, and apply the fee to the project if accepted to protect our interest and specialist time. With all the options out there, they may want to rethink their stance.**Update** I have been asked by the company to clarify, so I am posting their email to me below.I appreciate the Google review. You could have at least included all of what you were told, like that we send out an engineer and thats what youre paying for, is an expert solution disclosed that then allows you to have your solution done proper, by us or someone else. You are not aware of how many other companys work we fix from botched ideas that people pay for. Our engineer time is not free and we do it right the first time. I use Hometown Lawn for my year round fertilization and weed control - keeps my lawn looking awesome - very green and weed free! Ive also used Hometown Lawn for other projects - planting trees, drainage, and run-off improvement, stone edging around flower beds, a rock river bed along my back fence. Dave and his team do excellent work, are very professional and very competitively priced. I would not hesitate to highly recommend Hometown Lawn!

While they not be fly-by-night cheap, they always do exceptional work and exceed expectations.Treatments, drainage, fill, mulch, and river rock are some of the projects Hometown Lawn has done for me this year. Great work! Great local company! Dave the owner (licensed PE) came out and gave us an estimate, took measurements and listened to what we envisioned for a new stamped concrete patio. I must say I was a little hesitant to go with a lawn company for concrete work but they did a great job on a compressed schedule due to freezing temperatures. Weve gotten many compliments on the patio from guests. Its our new favorite room in our house. Thanks again HTL!

I had high hopes when the owner (Dave) came out to look at my landscaping. Nice guy and really seemed to know what he was talking about. Dave was going to put together a few landscaping packages for me and said he would get back with me in about a week. After 3 weeks of not hearing anything I called and spoke to a nice lady on the phone. She said Dave has been super busy but she would put a reminder on his desk about our quote and that Dave would get back with me. Currently to this day, 4 weeks later, I have yet to hear back and we have since decided to go with another landscaping company.Again, nice and knowledgeable guy, but at this point in time they must be too busy to take on new customers.

Just got home from work to find that Hometowns team had cut all tall grass, cleaned and raked areas, leveled my paved stone patio (had sunk in one area) trimmed bushes and started progress on a stone garden area. Driving around the corner from a day at work and seeing this kind of progress makes you forget all the days problems. These guys are great! Have used them for their lawn program for a few years and have the best looking lawn in the neighborhood. Now I know they can do it all.Thanks Hometown Dave and your GREAT team!

Hometown Lawn has done many projects for me from minor drain work to entire sod and landscaping. They have always done a great job at a very fair price and have been on time and professional. Support local small businesses.

Disappointed with the customer service. We had confusion on prices and I called for clarification, which did not go over well. I had originally called and spoke to them about a bundled service, but then they started charging per visit and never sent an invoice. I told them I was happy to pay for their services, since they are necessary, I just requested in the future for a more clear service plan and expectation of price for additional services. The conversation was argumentative and they challenged me with researching what I was saying. I never said I wasnt going to pay, or was unhappy with the work they were doing, but requesting a more percise plan for maintenance and required payment seemed to be too big of an ask. I cancelled part of the service and ask for a one time payment for the backflow check they are scheduled to do later this month. I believe I will use a different service for future needs. The guy who came to the house seemed really backlogged, but was friendly and seemed to do a pretty good job. I would give 2.5 stars, but not going to 3.

Great green lawn and stays that way longer than neighboring lawn services.

They claim they do sprinkler repair..calimed someone was going to be there Thursday or Friday July 2019. No one called or showed. No word 2 weeks later...had it fix by someone else. THE WORST COMPANY IN OLATHE AREA PERIOD. DO NOT CALL THEM

The owner, Dave, came to meet with my client and I while negotiating repairs to a home we were purchasing. He was extremely knowledgable, professional, and well prepared, and knew exactly how best to handle the issue. We ended up not being able to use him (just part of the ins and outs of a real estate transaction), but he is definitely my Go-To guy now when it comes to engineering correct landscaping around a home to protect your investment. Theres the guy you know who can dig a drainage ditch, and then theres the professional with an engineering degree who will do it correctly the first time. You always get what you pay for. Easy choice.

Dave Brucker and Greg Zerr with Hometown Lawn have over seeded a few different houses I have lived in. The results have been fabulous. The turk definitely thickened up vs my feeble DIY attempts. In my current home, they took over the fertilizer program this year. I have the thickest greenest lawn currently on my entire street.

Zero Stars! Scalped yard (down to the dirt) in several spots, tons of clippings and clumps of grass left all over yard and damaged fence in several spots. Fired them after the first mowing. Called and spoke w/ Dave who did not once apologize for the poor service we received. Hometown Lawn left our yard a mess, some of our neighbors even called and text to ask what happened to our once beautiful lawn :( I would NOT recommend Hometown Lawn!Update to Hometown Lawn response -A year later and they respond - we had signed up for weekly mowing service not a one time mow. However due to their poor service (listed above) it did end up being a one time mow because we fired them. Our yard was not over grown, we had and still have our yard mowed weekly.

I will make this short and sweet. The previous owners were having HOMETOWN put in system while they were moving out. Every single one of the covers are not even close to being flush with lawn. It looks like a child did it. THEY CONNECTED DIRECTLY TO WATER LINE THEN TO SPRINKLER VALVE THEN TO BACK FLOW VALVE. Maybe I’m wrong but isn’t all valves supposed to tie into the line AFTER the back flow valve. Piss poor company. I am in the process of having a third party look at their work and if I’m right. They will have to do it correctly. They know who we are that nice lady—I read in the reviews that answered the phone. Well she HU on my wife. And this year we haven’t heard from them to start our system up for spring. CUSTOMER SERVICE-no such thing. I WOULD RATE THIS COMPANY A ZERO IF I COULD. It’s kind of funny. Take a look at the great reviews and tell me it’s no themselves, family or friend writing such great reviews. ZERO RATING ZERO RATING. NOW U CANT SAY U HAVE’NT BEEN WARNED.——————In response to contractor putting in new back patio. ...... why didn’t you get ALL THE HOSES AND WIRES COMPLETELY OUT OF THE WORK AREA? Since you knew what was going in. The patio would have to be dug atleast 4-5 inches deep. Now, aren’t you supposed to dig the line for the hoses and wires atleast 6 or more inches deep. Then how could they hit the lines idk.

Omg so Dave came over i invited him inside made lemon aid and we had a good chat and went over my lawn and he put applicator down and it was soo good. now my lawn is looking good. cand wait for you to come back dave ;-)

Hometown Lawn is the best company we have used to care for our lawn. They have done it all for us, mowing, sprinkler repair, fertilizer, verticut, oversead. You name it, they can do it. My experience has been nothing but exceptional, keep up the great work guys!

Customer Service is a foreign concept to this company. If you let the owner know you aren’t pleased with any part of his work, all he wants to do is argue, raise his voice, try to intimidate you,; doesn’t want to listen at all to what you aren’t happy with. He WILL throw in there suggestions, though vague, of what he might do for more money. His prices are already OUTRAGEOUS. It’s raining as I write this, and we have several large pools of water in our yard; how ironic, as they were contracted to fix the drainage problems we had; their solution certainly didn’t work, hasn’t worked with any rain we’ve had since the job was “completed”. We have wild strawberries now, a lovely patch of tiny white flowers; those seem to be new since Hometown Lawn came. I WISH I could post pictures, believe me, we’re collecting them. I wish I could leave a 0 rating. Save your headaches and money and CALL SOMEONE ELSE!
