An AMAZING experience for our sons first ever haircut!They had really great chairs (my son sat in the Chiefs Jeep) with buttons kids can push to make sounds etc and TVs for each stall with kids movies on them.Staff was 10/10 super friendly and helpful!!! This place is great 👍

We had an appointment for 3:45 on a Saturday, and to be fair, we did walk through the doors at 3:49. We were excited to have our sons first haircut here because of the kid friendly environment. However, we were waiting for the next available stylist, and the people behind us in line were seated ahead of us. I asked the front desk about why this happened, and apparently if you have a preference for a specific stylist they will let you cut in line ahead of other paying customers.I guess if you want to skip the line, just ask for someone specific and they will treat it like a fast pass at a theme park. I didn’t even get an apology other than a shoulder shrug and “we’ve been pretty busy”.

Ashley was personable and friendly! She was quick and precise with the scissors! My 14 month old did wonderful with her for his first haircut! Including a picture of the Souvenir that is included with the first haircut package! I highly recommend this place!

I cant sing the praises of Shear Madness enough. My two year old little boy loses his ever-loving mind when he gets haircuts at a traditional salon, so I decided to take him to Shear Madness in Olathe. My son still freaked out terribly, but it was not for a lack of trying from the staff. They were absolutely wonderful. The salon is clean and had the nicest people. His stylist also managed (miraculously) to give him a great haircut, while he was wiggling all over the place. 10/10 would recommend!

We called and they were able to get us in the same day. Stylist was great, could tell she had worked with kids for sometime. Our child loved the firetruck chair and the TV that was on. Fair price for the experience and childrens atmosphere.

Took my nephew for his first professional haircut. When I say professional I’m saying I’ve took him too other places and they’ve only been able to cut like patches because of how impatient he is and how he doesn’t like to be touched or his hair brush in general. But it worked out amazing. He looks like a big boy and I couldn’t be anymore happier💙 LeAnn did an amazing job

Taylor is the best! You can tell by watching her work that she LOVES what she does. Also the receptionist was by herself and she was helping the stylists to clean their areas, checking clients out, greeting clients and answering the phone. My now 14 year old brother gor his first haircut here so naturally I brought my son here for his first cut and just came. We tried a new place and they did not do a good jib but this place and these people are AMAZING! They worked with my 3 year old about what he wanted and we both left happy with hiw it turned out. I recommend this place to EVERYONE I see with kids.

The woman was really personable and did a great job. There was a bit of a wait even with an appointment which would be my only complaint.

We took our son to get his first haircut yesterday, which we almost backed out cause we LOVE his hair..but he really needed a trim to get it out of his eyes. He started crying and the stylist didnt even wait a second for me to try to calm him down before she started cutting. I get some kids probably cant be calmed down, but she coulda let me try. His hair looks awful! We definitely regret taking him here. It is uneven, too short, and looks like a mushroom head. So sad

1st time getting a hair cut here. Our son has had many hair cuts and had no issues. He moved one time and that was the cause of the chunk missing from above his ear....understandable. The CUTS on his ears however were not. One we saw in store because it bled and she wiped it with her finger 😡 The other we didn’t see until we got home. The stylist tried blaming it on new trimmers. I called the next day after calming down to only find out there is NO MANAGER to talk to, as in NO ONE SUPERVISES THE EMPLOYEES WHILE THEY WORK. 😡 I was given the owners number. It took a week for her to call me back and leave a message. The message made it seem like it was my child’s fault. I tried calling her back and still have not been able to speak to her. For being a kids salon it seems like some more training is definitely needed. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS BUSINESS TO ANYONE!

Took my daughter in to get her hair cut and before we went in I checked the website to see if we had to have an appointment and it didn’t say anything about having one. When we got there they asked what her name is and I told them and then they asked if we had an appointment and I said no and they said well due to COVID-19 you have to have an appointment and I told them about their website no saying anything about it and they said well we are still trying to fix that. COVID-19 has been going on for over a year now so I am really disappointed that they couldn’t even offer to fit us in for a simple bang trim.

Taylor was amazing with my son! He is almost 3 and really struggles with haircuts. Not only was she fast but she was calm and collected the whole time my son screamed and cried, and best of all his hair looks adorable! She deserves a raise! 😜

This was horrible. The stylist pretty much cut my daughters hair straight across with her scissors in about 5 seconds instead of trimming up the angled cut she had and we wanted to keep. I know, you’ll think I’m a crazy lady who is placing way too much importance on a kid’s hair. I’m not, this was really that awful. I could have done it better myself at home.

Went to this kids barbershop on Friday July 9th 2021 @ around 3pm and was turn away we were told they were booked and could not get my sons a haircut the stylist only had one kid on the chair and no one was waiting looked around for toys and she was done w the haircut while we were still looking and Would not served us, had to drive to the one in lee summit to get my sons haircut we live in Shawnee pls who ever owns this I hope u read this !

This is a great place! There are great stations for the kids to sit on and even watch TV while getting their hair cut. We got my oldest daughters haircut done there and her sister even got to sit in a seat while they were cutting her hair. Very nice and friendly hair stylists. Very kid friendly!

Weve had several appointments with Taylor and each time she does a fantastic job! She is very sweet with our daughter, efficient, and gives great haircuts!

Kara (the stylist) was fantastic with my son. She realized that he wanted to hold a comb so instead of trying to take the comb from him, she grabbed another one. When she went to trim his hair with clippers she was so gentle and talked him through everything that was happening. How first haircut was such an amazing experience for him.

We made back to back appointments for our boys. Gabbi did a fabulous job on both of our boys. Only being employed there 2 weeks, a supervising stylist checked her work, which I personally felt unnecessary when she did such great work. A delightful personality to have working with kids and parents making this an excellent experience.We have been there 2 other times and had good experiences with more experienced stylists and didn’t have as good a result as we had this time.

I fell in love with this place. I had the pleasure of helping with some minor remodeling. All chair spaces 6+ ft apart to accommodate for covid-19 safety. I have teenagers so they wont be doing their hair here but they love to bring others and have checked out the toy store a few times. Super friendly staff!!

Simply the only place to get your kid his first dozen haircuts. The extra couple bucks youll spend here is more than worth it considering your child will look forward to haircuts and get excited about it vs. going to great clips.

Impressed beyond belief that they kept my toddler still, calm, and happy throughout. They were quick and made it special.

The ladies are always professional and my daughter loves it. The Diva Day my daughter got for her birthday made her feel like a princess, and they did a great job when she decided to cut her own hair.

The lady dori who cut my one year olds hair was very nice and did a great job and the lady at the front desk was so nice as well.

I really liked Shear Madness. They did my sons 1st hair cut. We have been several times at different times not just during the week or weekends. My son loves it. He loves the different chairs, the TVs and to look at things. Today was a different story. I was told to call when we arrived so we could be told when we could come in— no problem; I support safety practice and not having many people. I called 4+ times. Every time ringing several times before disconnecting me. Finally I got someone— was told to bring in my son. We get in I was asked who he was I told them. Then it got awkward. I was told to come back with my son. My son wanted the motorcycle but I reminded him we were told last time he wasn’t able to sit yet on it as he is too fidgety and little. He then picked the police car— tell me why the hairstylist seemed annoyed with that; I brushed it off. I get him situated. We start talking about what cut I was looking for. I told her that we have ALWAYS done scissor cutting around his head— he’s still little and a buzz cut would make him look too old for his age (he’s already really tall). So tell me why I was dismissed and told “it’ll be much faster and look better with a buzz cut on the back and sides and I can scissor cut the top to blend it”. I again stated I didn’t want a buzz cut and informed the stylist if we were going that route I could just do his hair myself. She seemed annoyed and dismissed me. I let it go as I felt so much pressure to agree with her and I didn’t want to freak out my son. She proceeds to start buzzing his hair on a level 5. We make small talk and I stated it that my sons 3rd birthday is in a week. My son excitedly agrees and asks about his cake. He then asks me about the sirens for the police car he was in. The stylist said “I’ll show you after you look down”— taps his stomach with her comb and then she then shows him. She then states “so you’re going to be 4 for your birthday?” I corrected her and said “no he will be 3”. She looked at me like she didn’t believe me— “don’t you think he’s a little big to be turning 3”...... —__— ..... I know how old my child is. He was squirming because it was tickling and she snapped at him to sit still. He’s 2! At that point I was ready to pay and leave. I don’t like my son’s hair cut. I even gave him a bath and it doesn’t look right. It’s too short and makes him look too old. I get it’s hair and it’ll grow back— but I feel after this experience they have lost my business. If we’re going in the direction of buzz cuts then I can just do it at home— no need to pay $18 for that. There was no one waiting we were the only customers. So why couldn’t she listen to what the CUSTOMER wanted and stuck with taking a little off with scissors? Additionally the last hairstylist we had was great and cut my sons hair with his mask still on— she insisted it come off during the haircut.... can we not be the same across the board? If your not concerned about COVID then why did I have to call before we entered?

Not going back. I had a 5 pm appointment scheduled for my 4-year-old yesterday. He was having a little fear about his haircut when we arrived, so it took me a few minutes to ease his mind and get him out of the car. We walked in at 5:07 and it was almost 5:10 before I checked him in. They said he would not be able to get his haircut because they have a 6 minute past appointment time cancellation policy. There have been many times when we arrived on time and didn’t mind waiting 10 minutes or so until they were ready. I asked if the stylist was already with someone else since we were a little late. The receptionist said no one else had filled our spot, but that’s just their policy. His haircut usually takes 5-7 minutes because it’s all clippers. This was the first time we had ever been, even a little late. I do understand that they have to keep their appointments moving. However, they were very dismissive. I guess it’s a good chance to see how Supercuts or Great Clips does with kids.

Visited this place for the first time yesterday. This place was so beautiful and clean. The staff there were very professional and kind.

Called 3 days in advance to set up an apt for Saturday because I work Sunday get there on Saturday and call to come in and I get told it was set up for Sunday then said they can set up for Sunday witch I all ready told them that’s the reason there could be no way I set it up for Sunday because I work every Sunday

Cars they can sit in and TVs they can watch helps keep them entertained for a stress free hair cut.

Worst haircut, I asked for a simple straight bob, they cant cut even. Ruined my daughters hair. Never going back for fancy chairs and mirrors, they need to train their staff.

Im giving 5 stars for Ashley and the for the front desk staff. Ashley does an awesome job with my sons hair. She is such a sweet person too. We have been going to her for a couple years now. I cant recommend any other stylists but you cant go wrong with Ashley! The front desk staff are super nice and super efficient.

The people here are incredibly kind and thoughtful. They knew just how to engage with my autistic daughter and make the experience painless and exciting. Would definitely go again!

Excellent staff. Did a wonderful job piercing my daughters ears (4yrs old) and giving my a son a haircut. All the Staff was friendly and they were very timely in everything. Love this place. Will definitely return!

They did a great job with both of my kids haircuts. They were very patient with my daughter who is shy. The prices were about the same as any chain haircut place. My son loved getting to sit in the car and they didnt even bat an eye as he constantly bounced around while they were trying to cut his hair.

Amazing job for first haircut!

Had an appointment this morning, the woman who cut my sons hair butchered him...and to top it off put so much hair gel in that his hair was rock solid and smelt like old man after shave. Hope it was just this one lady (wish I could remember her name, will find out tomorrow when I call). Usually we have a great experience but it will take a long time if ever before I take my son back.

My girls go to Ashley and she is great. My 9 year old tells her what kind of haircut she wants. And my daughter is always happy. I cant imagine trying to make sense of what a 9 yr old wants.

Great place to get a kids haircut. Really, its the only place I trust to cut our toddlers hair. It seems to me its a special skill to successfully cut a kids hair as they are constantly moving their head around. Not to mention cutting only their hair and not cutting their face off. Great job!

Convincing my 3 y.o. that a haircut does not hurt and can even be fun, was impossible. After visiting Shear Madness, not anymore. The lady in the front desk was super sweet and welcoming, and Taylor, who cut his hair, is an expert with kids. She both made him feel at ease and gave him a wonderful haircut. Couldnt be happier!

This place is amazing. Very reasonable prices for haircuts done by exceptionally friendly, patient, and caring staff. They accommodate for any need your child might have and Im so grateful to have a place like this for my kids.

We were able to get in a little earlier than the original appointment. Thats a plus and even though my son cried his heart out the hair dresser did a great job even when when my son was moving his head all about. The staff was calm, kind and courteous. Thank you!

To be quite honest, I have given this place two tries. They were both mistakes. Each time I have left dissatisfied. The environment is wonderful for children, my daughter always enjoys the TV, the cool cars that you can sit in and all the fun things that surround her.As a parent to a biracial child, I would strongly encourage other parents to biracial children to NEVER take your child here.Here is why:My daughters hair is different according to them. There have been multiple comments such as does she have sunscreen in her hair, or something? when in fact, it is simply moisturizer - that children with extremely curly hair have to use on a regular basis in order for the hair to look its best and to be healthy.Our most recent visit, however, was thankfully, our very last visit to any Shear Madness on the globe. The woman who cut her hair had a look of pure disgust on her face the entire time she attempted to brush through and cut my daughters hair. It took all of me not to step in and do it myself. I had to control myself from saying anything to her in an effort to shield my daughter from any ignorant comments that this woman had around curly hair.My 4 year old sat in her pink car and could see the way this woman looked down at her beautiful head of curls.By not addressing her look of disgust, it seemed to not stop her from spewing out an insulting comment of Ha - I see nothing but a ton of headbands in her future.Get real. What an insensitive and ignorant thing to say in front of my child. As her mother, it was difficult not to immediately berate her in front of everyone. There is no room for this type of comment, or behavior in this world. If you are uneducated about ethnic hair, I would highly encourage the HR department of Shear Madness to require cultural training or some type of specific training that will educate your staff about the differences in hair types. Shame on you.I will never go back, nor will an apology make a difference to me. I finally understand (to a certain degree) the struggles that women of color have when it comes to getting their hair done. Shame on you for making my beautiful curly headed girl feel as though she was inferior to anyone.

I got my ears pierced here for my 10th birthday, and they were pretty good. They went fast, did both ears at the same time, and were calm. My ears also healed quickly. But they were busy. So be prewarned, Saturday’s are going to be busy. But overall, it was nice.

Patient hair stylist for our sons first haircut, she did the best she could with a nervous little boy. The only complaint I have is that theres nowhere to wait for your turn, so dont get there super early. Theres a bench there, but the foot traffic is busy so you feel like youre in the way. Its a bit pricy but youre paying for a patient stylist that is experienced in dealing with difficult small children.

They always do a good job on haircut for my toddler, but the cut isnt what makes them special. First, the hair cutting chairs are brightly colored cars. My daughter loves waiting to see which car she gets to ride in. They have personal TVs at each station to entertain the kids and different popular animated movies and shows to select. Definitely call ahead for an appointment because on weekends they fill up very fast.

After a frustrating debacle at a Great Clips right before family photos were taken, Ive only taken my two daughters to kid specific salons. They have the time, patience, and understanding of what kids are all about and Im happy to pay for a great haircut.We love Shear Madness! My eldest daughter (who has copious amounts of thick hair) got an awesome summer cut while playing a video game and little sister was entertained too by the play area and cool things to browse in the store. Mary was friendly and personable and gave my daughter the exact low maintenance, go to bed with wet hair and it still looks nice kind of cut weve been after. She loves it, I love it, and there are far fewer tears when its time to brush it :)Well be back!

More pricey than what youd pay at other places but you get what you pay for! They cater to your child and their needs. My son is 7 and still terrified of the clippers, they cut his super long hair to a short hair cut with a just a pair of scissors. Weve never been disappointed!

It was a fun atmosphere for my daughters first haircut. Fun cars to sit in and show to watch. The haircut was choppy and uneven even though she sat perfectly still.

I have always had pretty positive experiences here for my child. The cuts have been very good and a few times shes even had updos for weddings and looked adorable. I asked for a waterfall braid one time and they even took the time to learn the braid just on my request. So they go the extra mile to make sure customers are satisfied. Staff has been very sweet to my special needs child each time which definitely makes me happy.

Love the atmosphere, facilities provided for kids and you are lucky if you got a great stylist. We loved our last visit but wouldnt say the same about the last 2 visits before that.

They refuse to honor a medical exemption. Sorry but you have lost my business now and in the future.

****Update****They did their best to reach out to us and wanted us to come in and give them another try. Rochelle even emailed us. We gave our son some time because it was traumatic last time. He was still not okay with being there but Rochelle made it so much better. He didn’t cry the whole time, yay!!!! He was really fussy but did good over all. I have hope for the next time. But we will always go to her! So I would give it three stars over all but 4 for this last visit!To be honest after our last two visits we might not be back unless if Rochelle is working. We were there yesterday and revived not only a horrible haircut horrible customer service. The lady who did my son’s hair didn’t say high to him didn’t interact with him. She had a very bad attitude for working with kids. He is one and a half so that made him afraid of her. And his hair cut makes me want to cry. It looks like she placed a bowl on top of his head and cut. I asked her not to use the clippers and she still did. Rochelle didn’t have to but I guess this lady doesn’t have the skills. While he was in my lap because he was to afraid of her she wound up cutting my hair!!!! This was also while she was using the clippers. She didn’t even cut the back of his hair so he looks like he has a bowl cut and a mullet. We will definitely be telling everyone the experience we had. We have family pictures coming up but we have to post pone them now because his hair cut is so bad. :( he has had so many haircuts I want to say about six or seven and it has never gone so wrong.

The kids are distracted with either a TV or video game at each station while their hair is being cut. The staff works hard to keep kids happy from having them sit on parents laps to blowing bubbles if needed. We have been going here for 7 years and have always had a great experience.

So fast!! Took 15 mo old for first real haircut. Saw Leeann. She was great! Place is super cute. Lots of toys to look at and play with. Plus- they had Mickey Mouse clubhouse on at almost each station so my son had a blast. Super happy. Will definitely be going back!

My kids actually look forward to haircuts here. I have had to ask them to fix a slightly uneven line here or there, but as long as I speak up, they fix it without any questions or dirty looks. My mother has actually commented on how evenly my kids hair has been cut - thats a win. They do a good job and they are cheerful as they do it. :)

My husband and I brought our daughter here to get her ears pierced, and we were more than impressed with the experience.The staff was kind and quick while completing the process, (which helps with little nerves) but did a fantastic job. Its been 3 weeks and my daughter has had zero problems with soreness or redness. I would recommend Shear Madness for ear piercing to any of our friends.

Took my child here for his first two haircuts and they were great! Your child sits in seat that is shaped like a variety of different fun vehicles and is distracted by cartoons while they are getting their haircut. On our sons first haircut, they saved a lock of hair in a little baggy for my wife to take home. The pricing is also very competitive with regular barbers.

Our experience was excellent. Shear Madness was able to get us directly in for haircuts, were very nice and polite, and did an excellent job cutting the boys hair. We just switched hair salons for our children due to the one we had been taking our children to for a couple of years appeared to of recently changed staff around and became rude and nonchalant. We will now be going to Sheer Madness since they appreciated our business :)

Great place for kids to get a hair cut. I love all the distractions like the TVs, cars to sit in, suckers and a play area for siblings. We had occasionally had a cut that was a little too basic but they were more to hang willing to fix it if I asked. The only reason I gave your stars is we had had to wait sometimes quite a while but you can call ahead and see they your stylist is running behind. I would highly recommend!!

(5 stars, 1yr ago)Same boy at 2 years old. Wife took him a few days ago and this (pic) is the result. It was an unhappy experience for both of them. My wife was too polite to be honest with the hair butcher. She continued trying to use scissors near his eyes after he had lost patience and was turning his head.

A good setup for kids of all ages, plenty of distractions to help with the hair cutting process.However, the time allotted for haircuts is too small to really even let the kids adjust to the cutting process.Everything seemed rushed too leaving us with a below average haircut, no time to discuss what might look best for our kids hair.In the interest of time, they didnt even vacuum the hair off of my child so the rest of the outing he was covered in hair.Probably finding a different place for his next haircut.

We went for a first haircut and paid extra for the package. The stylist was amazing and she did a great job on the cut. But if youre charging double to take photos I would expect you to use a better quality camera. The quality of the photos was horrible. The camera had to be over 10 years old. I got better photos on my phone and felt like it was a total waste of my money. As hard as she tried to get good pictures the camera lagged so bad that it was blurry with his slightest movement.
