I had Butler Chimney install a new wood burning fireplace due to a failed exhaust pipe. They installed the fireplace incorrectly resulting in the glass doors not shutting correctly. The firebox is cricked and not balance and symmetrical. As this was an interior fireplace the dry wall repair was not n the master bedroom and the finishing had been completed prior to the error being discovered. The solution was to tear out the dry wall (again) or provide a $500 discount. Along with this the grout around the fireplace and stone work cracked due to the installation of the new fireplace and the forces and weight of the workers installing the firebox. They agreed to come back and re-grout: that was 1 year ago. I called and emailed several times and was reassured someone would contact me, however they never did. Overall this was poor workmanship, terrible communication and failed execution from Corey Butler and his team. If they got it right it would be another glowing review but they didn’t. They didn’t care to follow up, this is a costumer service and technical failure at its worst. I would steer clear of this company.

In 2019 we were looking to purchase a home. During the inspection, the chimney was flagged to be inspected by a professional masonry company. Butler chimney was contacted and we received a quote for approx. $5k. We negotiated with the sellers of the home and received a price reduction and money that must be used towards closing costs. The following summer, we contacted Butler chimney to being repairs. At that time, we received a quote for approx. $13K. The discrepancy was brought up to the worker, John. We were told that there was no record of anybody being at our home in 2019, but the last was 2016. This was also mentioned to the office worker, Cassie. After we heard nothing from Butler chimney, we again contacted the business and spoke with Cassie again. We then heard from Corey Butler. Corey informed us that the employee failed to do a proper estimate in 2019 and had basically just copied the quote from 2016. We requested a reduction in our bill due to an improper quote from 2019 that we relied heavily on this estimate when purchasing our home. Had there been a proper estimate we would have exercised our right to back out of the contract to purchase the home or made other negotiations with the sellers. Corey refused to negotiate with us stating that they did nothing wrong despite admitting that his employee did not do a proper estimate in 2019 (if there was even one done at all seeing as how we were told by 2 different staff that there is no record of anything from 2019).Further, when the chimney work as complete, we had wanted water proofing to be done on our home. The employee that had done the chimney work went on vacation and was going to do it the following week when he came back. Fine. No one showed up weeks later. Plastic and scaffolding was left in our yard. Not a big deal for a week, but we had to contact them numerous times about this and the water proofing. By the time somebody was reached, the weather was too cold for the water proofing. Once spring time came we had to again contact them numerous times to complete the water proofing. It wasnt completed until 9 months later after winter.We are satisfied with the work on the chimney but extremely disappointed in the lack of customer service and communication from the business. It seems there are communication issues among staff. Please be aware of this when deciding on a masonry company. Would not recommend based on this experience. I would have hoped that the buisness owner would want to correct a mistake and leave a satisfied customer.Edit -Hi Corey,I understand there are disagreements in wheather the discrepancy in the quote from 2019 was not brought up to you. When John came out in July, I specifically remember him being in my font yard and I asked about the discrepancy. His response was Yeah, I dont know. We dont have any record of us being out in 2019, last was 2016. Andy was there as well. I do not recall you, Corey, being present. I ask you this - How else would I know there was a quote from 2016? Also, the quote from 2019 did not have the previous owners name on it as you had previously stated. I also ask, what are the outright lies in my review that you had mentioned?Regardless of when you were informed, you have failed to rectify the situation. Since you found out about the discrepancy you have been nothing but defensive, argumentative, and difficult. I find this extremely unprofessional, especially coming from the owner of a company.Per our e-mail conversation 2/19/21- you admitted that the tech that came out in 2019 did not even bother to get on the roof or look closely at the issues. He basically just re-did my quote (referring to the 2016 quote). You further mention that that employee was not employed for very long with your company. You clearly admitted a fault of you company that you have failed to rectify with the customer. This resulted in a large out of pocket cost for us because you company failed to do a proper quote.I hope that others in the community do not have this same experience.

We just had our fireplace cleaned and inspected. Johnathan and Nolan are great assets to your company! Great communication beforehand, they were very friendly, knowledgeable and engaging. I will have Butler Chimney out annually now to inspect our fireplace after getting good info from the them on the importance of it! Excellent customer service all around from this company.

I had Butler Chimney come out to clean my chimney. The tech said he wouldnt clean the chimney because it has a crack in the liner. He said he would send the video and a quote for the repairs. That was 5 months ago. I even called and left a message, but I never got a response.Edit: Butler Chimney promptly contacted me after my bad review. They rectified everything they said they would do. Somehow they had the wrong email.

Cory & his associate installed a new wood burning insert. They both wore booties, and placed tarps over all carpet in family room to protect my flooring. Install took over three hours, and Cory gave me a tutorial for proper operation and safety requirements. Great experience and great company to deal with. I called for a chimney cleaning and Corey came out and did a thorough inspection and due to the age of chimney (118years) it was not lined and could not be cleaned due not meeting current NFPA code. We talked options and I chose a fireplace insert. Corey and Cassie answered all my questions and were prompt with installation! Now my family can enjoy our fireplace and have the added efficiency of an insert its like having second furnace! Will definitely be calling Butler for all our fireplace needs!

Although our fireplace was used moderately over 25 years, we had never had it cleaned so we were unsure what they would find. I signed up for a cleaning and inspection with the expectation that someone would come in, clean the fireplace and leave shortly thereafter. Corey was absolutely phenomenal! Butler cleaned up my very unusual Rais rotating wood burner centrally located between two rooms in the home. The cleaning was professionally done, timely and without a mess. They informed me during the cleaning that the original installation of our exposed vent pipe was done improperly and proposed a fire risk. Since learning this from Butler we are reinstalling our pipe correctly and the pipe/fireplace look nice and clean now, all is good!

And he held true to his pricing and work. I had asked him to squeeze my work in between what he already had as a busy schedule, and for that reason he had to split it up into two different times. Several items needed to be repaired on our chimney as found in a home inspection for the sale of our home. Corey Butler presented a proposal for: CrownCoat, tuck pointing, flashing, and installing a larger stainless steel liner. It appeared to be reasonable, so we had Corey Butler proceed with his repairs. He squeezed us into his busy schedule so that the work would be completed prior to closing. Also, during his work, he discovered that not as many tiles had to be removed to make a larger flue opening, so he reduced the price a corresponding amount. Appreciate his honesty about that.Corey’s work and timeliness were outstanding.

I had Corey and his assistant install a Vogelzang add-on wood furnace and line my existing chimney two weeks ago. The unit is great and I couldnt be happier. Butler Chimneys was prompt in all contacts and appointments and very professional. The installation went great and in a little over half a day it was installed, tied into my ductwork, and the chimney lined with stainless steel and insulated. Wow! And that was after he spent the morning driving to Illinois to exchange the liner that had been delivered incorrectly. You get a heck of a days work from these guys. They were both easy to get along with, friendly, and Corey did a great job explaining my new unit, its features, and the how-tos of it all. And the price seemed plenty right to me. Ill be having them back for my future servicing and a stove install in the next phase of my remodeling. Highly recommend!
