My husband and I have lived here for three years and have been absolutely pleased with the entire experience! The maintenance staff is extremely responsive, as are the front office staff. Weve had very few issues with our unit and love the community feel of the Villages, while still being close to shops and restaurants. The affordability of the apartments is also a huge plus. If you are looking for a spacious, clean, and affordable place, Villages of Monterey is the spot!

These apartments are beautiful and spacious! When I moved in my stove and fridge were new which I was happy about. The floors are beautiful but you do have to be careful moving furniture because it will damage it but I love that they are easy clean. The rooms are pretty big they do have carpet in the rooms and a plus is having a washer and dryer. I would recommend these apartments!

The Villages of Monterey is an AMAZING complex to live in! My family and I have lived here for almost 2 years and have loved everything about it. We renewed our lease after the first year because we absolutely fell in love with our community. (We will most likely renew for a 3rd year when it comes time). The office staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, the maintenance is on top of everything even when covid hit they still do their best no matter what. We have an awesome community board on the resident portal that allows neighbors to communicate and help each other. It’s honestly the best community in the Oceanside/Vista area to live in.

Branded as luxury apartments but really they’re not luxury at all. Every other week something is breaking and maintenance will tell you, you have to wait days for requests to be handled even if that means you can’t use your toilet. They pay residents to leave good reviews by offering gift cards for positive ones. The real experience is that it’s cheaply made and put together so things are always wrong. They have tons of open reserved spots but say you need a waiting list or your car gets towed. People are always yelling late into the early morning and kids are outside alone at 2 and 3 in the morning. People have aggressive dog breeds and they come after you, they don’t pick up after their dogs so have to constantly watch out for poop.

Quiet neighborhood with nice people, but when it comes to parking it’s a nightmare because people that don’t live hear will visit for a long time or I’ll see cars not moving in weeks. The person who lives in a unit on top always has a lot of guests and it smells like marijuana when they have city construction they leave vehicles in the spaces too so basically this is like public parking should enforce the rules more for parking also when cooking you have to open all the windows and doors because if you don’t it will smoke up the entire apartment

Lovely place to live. Lots of grassy areas and trees. The office staff is friendly and helpful. NIkki is easy to talk to - she always addressed any questions that came up and provided solutions. The web portal made it easy to pay rent and utilities, get updates, request maintenance (which was usually taken care of within 24 hours), and interact with the neighbors. There is in-apartment washer/dryer (a big plus!) and the pools and gym (which has been newly remodeled) are kept clean. I highly recommend Villages of Monterey Apartments.

Cheapest 1 bedroom apartment in the area I could find with a washer/dryer in unit. Happy with what I have for the price. Was a lot nicer than places I looked at with a similar price. Never had any issues with the community, people are friendly but mind their business. No nosy neighbors.Gym has been closed with Covid but it has free weights with a squat rack and bench. Good enough for the majority of people and very serious lifters will still be able to get a good workout if you can’t make it to your normal gym.

We been living here for more than 7 years. For a couple years now this place hasnt been too pleasant to live here anymore. Our Neighbors dogs bark very often in middle of the night. We reported it many times but the issue was never resolved. We love pets but I dont think Dogs should be left alone all night in the patio while their owners are not home almost everyday of the week.Maintenance is also a big issue as due to the covid situation, only Emergency repairs are being made and weve had to fix many of the issues our apartment has by ourselves. Hopefully this will change with once the covid situation improves. There are other small things that could be improved on with these apartments but these two issues are the ones that stand out the most and it is why we are giving rating of 2 stars.

There are great amenities like the pools, gym, basketball, and tennis courts and are all very well kept. Extra storage above parking which is very useful. My favorite is the extra long down stairs patios, such a nice place to sit and enjoy all the beautiful trees on property. You are close enough to the beach but dont have to deal with all the chaos. I have resided in a luxury apartment complex in Ontario, CA for nearly ten years until this last rent increase pushed me out. Because I am fortunate enough to work from home, I saw this an opportunity to relocate and to begin a new chapter in my life. A friend of mine resides in the Villages of Monterey and suggested that I check it out. I did. This complex has been recently remodeled and definitely has indeed has a welcoming village feel with plenty of mature trees and friendly faces. Unlike my last home which felt very commercial, this place actually feels like a home. The leasing manager Nikki assured me that if I rented here and anyone gave me any problems that she would personally beat them for me. Im kidding on the beating part, but I did feel the very neighborly, easy-going, drama-free vibe here. Do it! I am. See you in the pool! Woo!

It wouldn’t be right not to share my application and leasing experience with Nikki. I am utterly blown away by her level of professionalism, efficiency, knowledge and cheerful attitude. She began assisting us several months ago when we expressed interest in a tour and patiently kept in contact with us over the course of time it took for us to be ready for the move. She kept us informed with availability, floor plan dimensions, pricing, etc. When we reached out to her by email she always responded promptly, often within minutes! I’m telling you she is ON IT! From the moment we began the application process to the moment we were approved and signed the lease it was less than 24 hours. This was thanks to her prompt correspondence and effective communication in what she needed from us to move forward. I couldn’t be more pleased or relieved with how smooth the entire process was. Clearly Villages of Monterey has high standards and great taste in their office staff. Thank you for the excellent experience!

If you own more than one vehicle, do not live here. You are only issued one parking spot if you rent a certain amount of bedrooms and you will constantly be out of parking for your other vehicle. They do not warn you about the limited parking until you sign the lease. Every day coming home from work I need to rove around the parking lot until someone ends up leaving an unreserved parking spot. There is a waiting list for reserved parking spots, which are never all filled. I have requested to be put on it, the response I received was that the list was so long that I wouldn’t want to be on it.There have been numerous times were I have to pay out to pocket on things I have requested to have service on. Things that we mentioned prior to moving in, things that were still not fixed on my moving date and still not fixed!!!Bathrooms have little to none ventilation causing your bedroom to steam up and create mildew on window sills. I do not recommend living on the first floor. Windows are old school and can easily be broken into. Those who reside here can tell you that we have received emails stating that mail/packages and apartments were being broken into and robbed. It is almost everyday that there is either no hot or cold water.I seriously cannot wait until my lease is over so I can move!

DO NOT MOVE HERE! Apartments have cockroaches and mold. When told about it they do nothing. Carpet was so thin the nails came through and stabbed my feet and the carpet was lifting up. When reported all they did was hammer the nails down and then charged me saying the carpet was new when it was at least 10 years old when I moved in. They do nothing to protect you or your property. We had frequent break ins to cars with smashed windows, cars keyed and items stolen such as bikes and motorcycles. Management did nothing to prevent thefts or damage. They do not care about their community. It’s all about getting your rent money each month. BEWARE!

My lease ends in 2 weeks. They require a 30 day notice to move out. They automatically renew any lease to a month to month basis if you do not give notice. They definitely put the responsibility on the tenants shoulders and then stay silent, however they are very communicative about how to renew the lease. So now I have to pay for the next 30 days (10 of which are at an increased rent rate) plus utilities. Feels like Im dealing with a bad car insurance company. The employees are nice, and theyre doing their job correctly, but a 2 week notice during a pandemic should serve just fine. I dont recommend anyone moving in here.

***MICE INFESTATION ***Where to begin, we moved into this apartment when I was eight months pregnant thinking we were moving into a pretty nice apartment complex and we got a great deal!!! . The girl that helped us out Nikki was awesome and very very helpful and she has been awesome through this whole process. When we moved into this apartment we did not realize how bad of shape it was in until we actually started moving in. The sinks are rusty, bunch of things had to be replaced and then we have the mice infestation issue. I will say that whenever you put in a maintenance request, they do respond very promptly but actually fixing the problem is their issue. We were told that the prior tenants were very very bad at keeping this apartment together and also when they moved out that every single electrical receptacle was taken apart and wires were being pulled out of the receptacles. So every single one of the receptacles do not work very well, meaning that if you try to plug something into it, it either won’t even go into the prongs because it’s not lined up correctly or they just fall out. We put in Maintenance Request and I think they fixed maybe three of them. Then we have the mice infestation that is located in the kitchen (of course), and they would respond by coming in and placing traps down and telling us that we will come back in a few days and look at the traps… As if I was in capable of doing that and telling them that there are mice in the walls in the kitchen. There is mice feces all over the kitchen inside all of the cabinets and no matter how much I clean the problem is still there.I have a three-month-old baby and I have told them 1 million times that we need this issue fixed and they got to a point where they knew they could not fix the problem and gave us the option to break our lease without penalty or move to another apartment. Of course this went on during COVID-19 so things were a little hectic I understand that. But I was very reasonable and I asked them for our last month free and our deposit back immediately so we can move into another apartment complex. They said that They couldn’t do that and that is not policy… And made it seem like the mice issue and infestation is our problem. The whole kitchen smells like urine from probably years of mice and all we asked was help to move out of this apartment and a phone number to corporate so I could try to give them a call and work with us on getting our deposit back now instead of three weeks after we move out. After probably over 50 emails going back-and-forth with the same response, they have yet to give me a phone number to corporate or somebody that I can talk to you to try and resolve this issue. So, we finally put in her 30 day notice and are moving out thank God, and filed a claim at the health department this week and filing a civil suit. I’m not a yelp person. First yelp ever. Super mad about this. If I didn’t have my 3 mon old health in jeopardy I probably would’ve moved without writing a review but they seemed to not care about the health and well-being of her as well. So, we finally put in our 30 day notice and are moving out thank God, and filed a claim at the health department this week and filing a civil suit. I’m not a yelp person. First yelp ever. Super mad about this. If I didn’t have my 3 mon old health in jeopardy I probably would’ve moved without writing a review but they seemed to not care about the health and well-being of her as well. Take care and stay safe ! BY THE WAY WE ARE UP TO 10 MICE!!!!! Moving out soon !!!! 👍🏼🙏🏼

I moved to the Villages of Monterey 1.5 years ago. 1st apartment complex I have ever lived it and it has WAY exceeded my expectations. Since my 1st tour the staff has impressed me. They are SO FRIENDLY, always responsive, helpful and sincerely caring. Special thanks to Lynette and Nikki for always being so wonderful. But truly the entire staff is including the amazing maintenance crew and very friendly and kind gardeners. My unit is so spacious, especially the patio. No other complex even compared size, quality and price wise. We just got a BRAND NEW top of the line gym per the residence request. It is better than a 5 star hotel gym! The complex is very well maintained and safe. I was concerned about it being loud because it is by the high school but I have had zero issues. Literally every single time I call or email for anything the staff responds immediately and are so courteous. My neighbors are all so nice and very very quiet. I really can not say enough good things about it here and I will probably never move :)

Ive lived here since October 2017, so more than 1.5 years. It has been a great place to live! The apartment itself is spacious with an excellent layout (essentially 2 master suites, on on either side of the living room) and the patio is HUGE! The dining area doesnt interfere with the living space. And the kitchen has a big pass through so it feels more open. Having a washer/dryer in the apartment is great, even if its a small stacker. Still, way better than having to drag clothes or not being able to do laundry early in the morning or late at night. The maintenance crew are great, especially Tim. They almost always come within 24 hours and if there is something serious, they come right away! The online portal makes it easy to make maintenance requests, and you can always call the office to let them know if things have gotten dire and need attention ASAP. Speaking of which, I have found the office staff to be friendly and helpful, especially Nikki. :)No place is perfect, of course. The main jacuzzi in my village (Carmel) keeps not being hot; I know they are trying to fix it. The good news there is that theres another jacuzzi nearby that is working great. Residents dont always pick up after their dogs, even after the management sends out warnings. :( Still, Ive had zero problems with theft and have always felt safe here. Ive been fortunate to have basically a small park in my own backyard; right over the patio wall is a grassy area with trees, BBQ grills, picnic tables, and that other jacuzzi I mentioned. (I love sitting out on my patio!) Im most likely going to be moving out of state in the fall and I will miss this place!!

She is always so helpful, and not at all intimidating, so you can go to her with any of your needs and concerns and can expect a prompt response!Other than the apartments themselves (the location, the space, the neighbors and the community), having great apartment managers makes for an all around enjoyable experience!I would highly recommend living here!

I am so impressed with this facility. I was treated so hospitably and warmly by the staff here, especially Nikki. She was very warm and kind and very informative about all of my options. She showed my the property, and though I really liked the layout as well as the scenic layout, I think that the service that I received was much more valuable. I could easily call this place home knowing that the staff here makes you feel like you are wanted and appreciated as a tenant. There was a problem I had with one of the policies and Nikki still made me feel great about the way she explained it to me. Though I did not agree she was professional and cared about my opinion. I enjoy my experience with choosing an apartment and living at Villages of Monterey.Office staff were completely transparent about the application process when I came in with my girlfriend. Nikki answered every question that my girlfriend and I had about the neighborhood, the surrounding shopping areas and entertainment, and the school systems close by.Nikki was extremely thorough in talking about the amenities of the apartment that we eventually chose. Parking, pet requirements, and leasing terms were covered in detail.Moving in was a seamless experience. Nikki gave us information, assistance, or guidance on how to move forward at every step of the process. As a result, we were able to move in within two weeks of choosing a place that we enjoy. Thanks again for the great service!

I never thought my first experience at my very first apartment will be quite unpleasant. I thought the Village of Monterey will be more understanding of the situation.I have a difficult and am charged with fee due to their online payment system. I provide a suggestion and state my concern. They state other resident has experienced the same incident a while back. It leads me to question why hasnt it been fixed? Why I have to be one more resident to get charge with all this fee.I do not want any other new resident to experience such this awful situation. I am a single parent trying support my son. I at first thought the Village of Monterey will be the perfect place for me and my son, however, so far it is not ideal comparing to my previous experience. I know that they would handle it differently. I am so disappointed of my decision to be in contract in such of this management. When I first move in, I notice right away that there is many uncollected feces around the property. They have never fixed this issue and cleaned the property. Then the very next week, I witness a rat outside my door. I took a picture and sent to the management team to state my concern. They said that it is not common; however, they set up the trap to catch rats. I have not seen anything and I do not feel sanitize in this kind of property.I also notice there are many bugs as well. If you are not a big fan of bugs and spiders, I would suggest you to reconsider and look else where. The pool doesnt look clean or heat. The gym is alright but it doesnt seem like having any recent maintenance.Overall, for calling this apartment home as a LUXURY, I would say that is a completely lie. This day I am in deep regret to choose this apartment to be a place for me and my son to start our journey in Oceanside.

Ive only been here 3 months and mine n my roommates cars have been broken into 2 times. Not to mention the homeless people digging in the trash by my window at 3 am every other night. 0 stars for security and safety. With such a giant complex thats houses probably 1000 people and chargers and arm and leg u would think a security guard would always be present on all 3 properties. I reported it to the police and the management. All tho the gentleman at the office was extremely nice pretty much got told s.o.l. its just a great feeling not feeling safe at your own home and constantly worrying about your own safety and the safety of your property. I have gave my roommate the one spot we have and try to find a spot to park which is almost impossible, because I would rather her park close to the house and feel a little bit safe walking through her own apartment complex. Definitely not a safe place for a young female to be walking alone at night. After reading Yelp reviews car breaking and tweakers digging in trash is a normal thing here for awhile.

MILITARY WHATEVER YOU DONT RENT HERE!!!!!!!They claim to be luxury apartments but they are far from it. Weve had issues with pest (roaches, spiders, silver fishes). The problem with the roaches conveniently began right after I came home with my newborn son. And trust me Im not talking about no little baby roaches they were the size of grasshopper. The always came from the drains in the bathroom never had any in the kitchen. We kept the lights on in the bathroom and kitchen to keep them from coming. They werent really helpful other than telling me have someone spray and just deal with it. Also the spider issue was crazy! Im talking about finding at least 3 everyday in the house (not small ones) Also from December through May all of the cold and rainy months we had issues with mold and leakage through the windows. It was beyond ridiculous that we were told that it was our fault and we shouldve just left the doors and windows open 24/7. Mind you I had a newborn baby at the time so windows open all day are obviously a no go. We had to take care of the mold ourselves with borax and white vinegar in order to try and keep our little one safe.Honestly living here was the worst time of my life!!!! Please if you can avoid living do that!!! You will regret it I promise you.

Overpriced and filled with terrible cheap appliances. Washer and dryer will drive your electric bill up as they do not properly dry clothes and will rip up and destroy your clothing, expensive or not. Dishwasher stopped working after a week. fridge stopped working right after and all of our food went bad. You will be hot boxed during the summer due to NO AC unit!! There is an issue with privacy at this complex! Can hear and see people having sex through their windows. Too many fees and regulations for their ghetto fabulous units. Homeless people beg door to door here and become passive aggressive if you tell them no. Do not take this place into consideration unless it is a last resort. You will be very disappointed.EDIT: I find your response a bit misleading. Did you mean MY refrigerator or YOUR refrigerator? If you want to work on replacing anything of mine I have some expensive wear you can reimburse me on that were torn apart due to YOUR cheap washing units, but here is a second star for going out of your way and replacing your own refrigerator. Furthermore, It seems like my review matches a few others here. Constructive criticism is used for improving yourselves where improvement is needed not to attack your residents and redirect blame when you dont want to accept responsibility.EDIT#2:Confiscating that 2nd star because THE MAJORITY OF THE OUTLETS IN THESE UNITS DONT HOLD POWER CORDS!! You know, as a fee. You understand.

Ive been living in this apartments for a couple months, ans already had a couple issues with this apartments. The renovated apartments are nicer, but they did a crappy job just painting over and using old wood for the appliances. It is a luxury apartment complex, but it doesnt even have security. The little storage space they have is was super dirty and with insects. Every morning there is spider webs around, and they dont clean properly their green areas. The staff is really nice and always took care of little issues as broken staff around the house. The community areas are old, and they need to renovate the gym machines. Honestly I think is over priced for what they offer.

I moved in to this property in Feb 2016, and needless to say it is far from a luxury apartment. I have a feeling that the staff in the office are at the mercy of larger corporate rules, as they have always been kind, polite and as helpful as they can in adverse situations. It often feels like their hands are literally tied.Anyways...-Units are poorly sealed, expect a lot of ingress from bugs.-Window security is terrible - they do not properly latch, and slight pressure from outside could unlatch the windows.-Repairs to the unit are half-assed - loose towel bar? Lets screw that into the wall, straight through the bar.-Holes in cabinets from a microwave mount that is no longer there... fill with caulking.-Unfinished internal cabinetry - bare wood. Cannot properly clean.-Moisture issues in winter - as humidity cannot escape the unit. That is right - it cannot escape. The stove range hood is a recirculating fan, and the bathroom fan vents to nowhere. You heard me. It literally vents to nowhere. They have installed a tin box in the ceiling, wired it to spin a fan, and closed it with a cover. When you turn it on, it does not exhaust any humid air - it just makes noise. This is a problem. MOLD... Also dont think this is a one off - we have been told by maintenance that all but 6 units on all 3 sites are exactly the same. When we noticed this and complained - our cover clip snapped (so old), and the result was that they screwed a new plastic fan into the ceiling.-We have a humidity sensor on our clock, and rarely get below 65% unless we have all our windows open and fans on during a dry day. We run a small dehumidifier in our bathroom constantly, and remove 1-2 cups of water per day.-Humidity builds up on windows, and if you dont notice - you will get mold. We did. When we called it in - we were told Ours is not that bad, some units have to be repainted near the patios.-When we moved our stove, it was filthy underneath. Gross filthy - like years worth - hands and knees scrubbing to clean it.All in all, you get a pretty coat of paint, on a substandard unit - and you pay a premium for these so called Luxury Apartments. If you have allergies, expect this to be a problem. Mold comes in various forms, and some can be harmless. I have never suffered seasonal allergies - and I know that this is anecdotal - but I have been stuffed up and sneezing for the past 3 months as we have had the windows closed at night due to the cooler temperatures.Find somewhere else!

Management makes up rules not in the lease agreement and then threatens costs and fines against you. Management furthermore has never called me to notify me of the matter. I have been out of town and have not seen any notices on my door (I have notified management that I will be out of town). My concerned neighbors have been more than helpful in resolving my situation, unlike management. They are completely useless. The complex is not safe. There are no gates, homeless people sleep behind the bushes on the property adjacent the high school (and people always jump the fence). Management got flashlight police which clearly does nothing. Vehicles get broken into all the time. The high school students get out of school and the parents park inside of the complex and wait for them, blocking all entrances and spots for residents.Management also has favoritism issues. They have told my neighbors to take down bamboo privacy fencing on the balcony (after leaving it up for only one week). However, theres multiple people with privacy fencing on their balconies that has been up since I have been moved in (7 months ago) and no one has said anything to those people.Dont bother with this complex. Its just a headache. The icing on the cake:The pool and fitness center majority of the time have children present, it does not matter what time of day (school or not). There is barely anytime to lay by the pool without kids screaming and slashing everywhere.

Would have given negative if there were a choice. Absolutely THE WORST apartment complex Ive ever stayed at, DO NOT LIVE HERE. They show you the sample apt, but what you get is a different story. First day in, roaches roaming out from the sink, even after they have just sprayed it. I was 7 months pregnant at the time, and didnt want to risk taking in the chemicals, so we ended up buying the strips ourselves. The grossest thing was that the roaches got behind the microwave screen and it was stuck in there and moving around for days. They had to replaced the microwave once, but it didnt help so I didnt bother to call in again. The apartment was super outdated, the floor in the kitchen was peeling, and the cabinets were falling apart, and the master tub was scratched up and dirty the first day we moved in.It was also right by the road and the traffic is very loud, the landscaping people were out there about everyday, and it was loud as well. The parking space was very limited, and after they repaved it, they made even less free parking spaces available (so you would have to pay extra if you want a nearby parking space), my husband ends up having to walk very far everyday. Our apartment is on the first floor close to the pool and grill/sitting area, we have absolutely no privacy, so I put up some plants (which wasnt endangering ANYBODY), but they asked me to take it down. Which is ridiculous, because theres no risk of hurting anybody if it falls down, (we are practically sitting in a pit), and having been so exposed already made me super uncomfortable. I cant close my window all day because I need air, having the plants out there was my only privacy defense, and they didnt like it.The only decent people here are the maintenance crew, they respond to the request promptly and were always polite. Other than that, the management was pretty awful.CANNOT WAIT TO MOVE OUT, DO NOT LIVE HERE.

0 Stars! Worst place to live in! I wouldn’t even give this place a 1 star.I’ve been here since October! I just moved back to the states from being stationed in Japan. Let me tell you this is far from luxury! They showed us a sample apartment, it was beautiful and nothing wrong. The day we moved on it was a different story ran down painted kitchen cupboards (painted to the point where it just looks ugly. Old appliances, old everything the whole place is run down! A week after we got there, we find huge spiders. Called the front desk told us to buy spray. Any other bug we found told us to buy spray. The refrigerator stoped working for us 4 times. I had to throw out all my breast milk because the refrigerator went out over night, Lost all my freezer stash. Maintenance takes forever to get here. Finally after the 4th time the refrigerator went out we got a new one. The washer and dryer is so small you can’t fit a load of clothes. We take out clothes to the laundry mat because it takes less time to wash and dry. You’re literally drying your first load of clothes all day in the washer dryer unit we have. There’s a mold growth! We clean this house everyday, because we are near freaks and everyday when we leave for work and once we come home there’s new mold growing on the windows. They told us to buy borax and clean it ourselves and to air out the apartment mind you it’s winter time. Tonight my husband was cleaning the kitchen out of no where a cockroach the size of your index finger comes out and runs into the living room where my 7 month old daughter plays and all of her toys are in the living room. It moved so fast, it almost touched my daughter! We recleaned this house it’s 12 am. Tomorrow I will be awaiting to speak with them, I’ve read horrible reviews on how these people are rude and disrespectful. I’m not looking forward to it but I will be canceling this lease I can’t wait to see how much they will try to charge me but bugs and mold are a HUGE NO! Especially with a baby. The worst apartment place to live in! Apartment 103 we found a roach, spiders and mold growth. FYI to the next person that moves in here. This place is overpriced and nothing but a scam! Don’t waste your money on this place!

HORRIBLE APARTMENTS! Absolutely no ventilation in the units. I was not notified about this issue upon moving in and in result, there is a constant mold issue in the apartment. Ive complained to the office, wrote maintenance requests, and yet the issue still persists. I have a daughter and am pregnant again and am honestly worried for the health of my kids because of all the mold. I voiced my concern multiple times to the office and they dont seem to care. They dont care about their tenants, they just want your money. This is definitely not a luxury apartment. They tell my husband and I to open all windows and doors as if its our fault there is not ventilation. Even upon leaving the windows open mold continues to grow. Why should I sacrifice my personal privacy and expose my place of living because the apartment complex is not up to standards? I am a paying tenant and shouldnt have to go through such measures and go out of my way for an issue that shouldnt be existant in the first place. HORRIBLE APARTMENTS! I can not wait to move out.
