Do you ever, like.... roll into a room and take a deep sigh of relief as you look around and realize, Ahhhh.... these are my people!... This. This was exactly my experience when I first started the 28-day challenge with Queer Gym.A room (okay, a zoom room), full of queers, with amazing hair, all the pest and plants, all focused on doing a little better. No body shame, no sex shame, no weight shame, no focus on lbs, weigh-ins, or anything that feels icky. All of the coaches that Ive trained with have been all about you doing what is right for you in your body and making small adjustments in how we interact with our bodies.I was definitely skeptical about how much fun I would have or how successful a program done over zoom can be, but honestly, it has been AH-MAZE-ING. 10 outta 10, recommend
The Queer Gym is amazing! Their coaches work with everyone to ensure a safe space and a dedicated workout energy perfect for queers! And they will keep you accountable!!
The Queer Gym is a fun environment with awesome coaches and inclusive exercises and modifications as needed. Im still figuring out my nutritional needs but I think their assistance in nutrition has helped me out so much thus far!
STAY AWAYIt is extremely hard to cancel a membership, schedule changes constantly, and members leave feeling taken advantage of. When called out for this behavior you get called a troll. This business is not transparent, not inclusive and I promise you can find better.
The coaches are funny and engaging. The mission of the gym bleeds into every part of their practice - self love, community, and inclusivity. Favorite place to bust a gut while I break a sweat.
I am loving the queer Gym the workouts are 🔥 and the coaches are awesome supportive motivating with great music and experience..will remember this gym and these coaches for a long time
The coaches at the Queer Gym are absolutely fantastic!! Each one brings a different element to the workouts and provide excellent support! The programs they run are spectacular, they communicate with you to ensure youre getting what you need, and they make sure to hold you accountable to your goals! The workouts are hard and challenge you to push yourself, and it isnt easy, but its extremely worth it! Ive been working with this gym for only two weeks and I already feel so much better! I highly recommend giving this place a try, especially since they also offer complete workouts entirely online!
Awesome experience! Coaches are friendly and offer different variations to workouts depending on your needs from day to day. The energy is positive ad the vibe is super chill. I also felt like a welcomed member of the community even though I was working virtually at home. Everyone gave it their all and encouraged each other during the sessions. Thanks for keeping it upbeat and making me want to push myself further than I thought I could. I would definitely recommend the 30 Day Challenge to anyone, regardless of skill-level. If you want options for various workouts multiple times a day, and if you need positive encouragement and a great group to journey with, this is the place!
Joined this gym to help with my LONELY SAD MONOTONE life during shelter in place. Now I regularly get a burst of endorphins by doing (modified) pushup competitions with my queer family, while blasting RuPauls the Realness. It’s pricy- but I’m paying for quality and access to the healthy queer love of this SAFE space for all bodies- trans, non-binary, butch, femme, fat or skinny.🌈💪🍑🧚♂️ Even my kitten approves of my new energy and joy.Gym has switched to an all-online format due to the silliness of paying rent during the pandemic paradigm.Basically it means no commute! Also my cats are entertained.
I love the Queer gym. I was skeptical at first as Ive been (or wanted to be!) an active person all my life, but have never loved working out. Or being making any changes to what I eat. However, after sitting around for the first month of quarantine, I finally realized it was time to make a change to be the healthiest version of me possible and gave it a shot. The accountability coaching, fun programming and 100% online classes have worked wonders for me. I love being a part of an open, welcoming, fabulous queer community, especially right now since we cant get together in person. Just stop hesitating, sign up.
I joined this gym during quarantine and honestly its been by far my best gym experience ever. I enjoy interacting with all the coaches in different classes. The online classes actually feel more personal than a regular gym class (which i used to hate) and now i look forward to my 3 or 4 classes a week. Its been such an amazing experience Im planning to stay on for forever. Getting fit and having fun.
This gym is incredible. I have felt welcomed from my very first workout! The workouts are challenging for folks at all levels. The coaches are there to answer any questions and guide you, and are completely present and attentive throughout every workout. They also have customized nutrition plans which have considerably expedited my results! And finally, there is mega accountability throughout every step of the way. The motivation never stops with the queer gym! I am so thankful to be a part of this gym and recommend it to anyone looking for a gym that respects you for you, while also pushing you to be better!
Wow! Im so so glad I found Queer Gym!I needed a safe, loving place to get back into the practice of working out and energizing my body and I found it here! What a beautiful community of humans! Its wonderful to workout online with people that look like me who bring the same energy. I have coach Nat as my coach for the homobody challenge and she is just the best. Kind and supportive while being direct and straight up about facts and information. The rest of the coaches are awesome too! They have great attention to detail and bring a lively you got this attitude to every class. The last thing I want in a workout is an instructor that is grumpy or rude. Everyone at the Queer Gym is considerate, kind, inclusive and helpful. I look forward to many more classes!
When something works well, you do more of it, right? I’ve been a grateful client of TPSQG for over 8 years! The gym responds so perfectly to my evolving needs to stay fit and healthy - like they read my mind! It’s kinda amazing, really. And then how they bring me community, fun, and new friends... well, I couldn’t be happier. You know when you’re doing a jigsaw puzzle and you search and search for the right piece - that fits perfectly? That’s what this gym is to me. Bravo Queer Gym! And happy 10 year anniversary! Thanks for being my perfect life-puzzle piece.
I have been to countless gyms, in many different cities, trying to find the perfect one where it just doesnt feel weird. Somewhere I can actually workout without feeling like Im being judged. The queer gym was definitely the answer and then some, being trans FTM, they understand what its like, and so are your fellow gym members. Theres no judgements, and your coach is right there making sure youre doing what youre supposed to be doing. I havent ever been in such a great environment where I feel like its actually fun to workout and have a good time getting to know everyone. The workouts are awesome, the coaches are even more cool, and its a welcoming environment. What more could anyone ask for?
LOVE the queer gym. Its not just a gym, its a community. I took the 4 week challenge and it has been amazing to jumpstart better eating and becoming active again.Coach KJ was incredible and I highly recommend her classes and she did a killer job helping me stay accountable. She constantly checked in on what I needed for better support and she seemed to step in and give me a boost right exactly when I needed it.My only wish is that there were more classes at varied times, but Im sure that could come as the gym expands.THANK YOU!
I joined the gym after following them on Instagram for about two months. I thoroughly went thru their social media and decided to join for the Homebody Challenge after doing research. From the first call with Coach JoJo I knew this was a place for me. The coaches are amazing, they all have great energy and gave us amazing workouts. I have arthritis on my spine and gastrointestinal issues as well. Getting coached by the amazing Coach KJ was an incredible experience. I was working with a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist that was very invalidating and would not listen to my requests that I needed to stay on a vegetarian diet due to the GI issues and the arthritis. Coach KJ was so much more helpful than the RDN with providing nutritional guidance and validating what I was experiencing. I did blood work right before starting the challenge and again this morning and the inflammation markers have gone down significantly!! It takes a village and I certainly know that with the nutrition piece together with the workouts I have been able to improve my health overall. My main goal was to be stronger, not necessarily to lose weight. I asked for modifications to the exercises when I needed it and that was also very helpful. I joined to help my body deal with the arthritis and I have been accomplishing that. I feel so much better, my physical therapist even cleared me today so I dont have to see her anymore. She recommended I just continue with my workouts through the gym. :)Lastly, I will add that the community piece helps a ton. I found the space where I am accepted for who I am, I cant really do that ilin many spaces in my daily life, a place that doesnt involve alcohol. Everyone is so friendly, encouraging and amazing. All the coaches are amazing at what they do. We held each other up and cheered each other on. Its been overall a pretty awesome experience.
The queer gym has offered me a place to workout where I have felt supported both in class and outside of it within the community. I havent felt safe to be my full queer self in this kind of fitness setting before and I think its a huge reason why Im (finally!) motivated to work out consistently and with any amount of enthusiasm. The coaches are positive, firm and totally engaged.
Enjoy the queer gym. Classes are all online and scalable. Coaches are enthusiastic and workouts change every 2 weeks. Need slightly more consistent/better internet quality for some of the coaches for an all online model.
Awesome classes with great trainers. love the inclusive environment. the homebody challenge is great for anyone that needs help starting their fitness journey
This is an inclusive, welcoming family of folks who provide a fitness regiment and meal plan to folks who might not feel comfortable in conventional gyms, and the coaches focus on accountability. This is safe space for all. In the age of COVID, theyve moved their workout classes online on Zoom, which is great for people who want to work on getting more in shape or reaching fitness goals.
Its so amazing to finally have a space that feels safe and inclusive for the Queer community. The coaches are great, and tailor workouts to individual ability, which is great due to numerous injuries. This place is truly a community, and I feel the support of the other members and coaches, which is super motivating when working out. I feel inspired to workout for fun, not due to the need to fix any part of me. Any place that encourages me to bring my whole self to their space has a high rating in my book :)
The staff is super kind and helpful, will keep you accountable and do their best to help you out. Highly recommend if you are trans or queer and haven’t felt comfortable in gyms before. I’ve learned how to love and care for myself more. Classes are relatively small, ranging from a few people to less than 20, and it all seems very manageable. The members are all super great, and it brings a nice social aspect and comradery to the virtual gym room setting. Love the coaches, even if you want to strangle them sometimes. It’s the best kind of love.
This gym is such a special place. It is a safe environment that truly cares about helping you meet your goals, planning how to achieve them and HAVE FUN along the way! The coaches are all incredibly engaging and the atmosphere is truly special. In the setting of this pandemic, like water filling any shape it finds itself in, the gym transitioned online and somehow managed to make the experience even more amazing. I cannot recommend enough!
I did the 30 day online program with Zoom classes and nutritional coaching. My body feels much stronger; I went from taking 2-3 classes a month to 4 classes a week! A lot of it is weight loss focused, so if you have an history of disordered behaviors it can be a bit tricky to navigate. The coaches are great; theres support if you need it, and theres a fun variety of classes offered throughout the day. I especially LOVED Barbaras yoga classes. Im really glad I completed the program.
First i should say that i am not the “gym type” i just don’t usually workout in the way The Queer Gym hosts their program. I started out with a 4 week academy and i have to say this program really did change my life. It showed me something that i never knew about myself and that is that i really can do it! The coaching program is great. The accountability and the meal planning really kept me on track. The workouts were hard, but the trainers are really accommodating. Every class starts with a little group activity of getting names and pronouns and then answering a question. The coaches worked really well with helping me to strengthen after an injury. Wish i could have stayed longer unfortunately this was a treat to myself and the pricing was a little out of my reach. Overall this program is incredible and if i could give them all my money and live here i would!
This gym has been a life-saver for me during the pandemic. The coaches and owners are all queer and mostly POC. They worked with me to make the gym accessible financially, and most importantly, the sense of community and camaraderie has been a godsend for my mental health. The Queer Gym is such a good community and such a good way to take care of yourself. I recommend starting with one of the challenges and going from there! Coach KJ is the literal best.
Great accountability practices, lovely people, and super fun workouts. Did the HomeBody Challenge all over zoom. Had a coach to check in with weekly, accountability practices focused on life improvement in general, and noticed lots of positive changes in my body. On my salary its a little hard to keep up with their fees, unfortunately, hence the 4 stars.
The coaches are kind, engaging, and work with you at your own level. Its a great and welcoming environment for any fitness level!
Great especially since they adapted to have online classes. They have really helped me build the community around being physical healthy that I have needed, while also building up my confidence abt my body. :)
Great coaches. Fun workout environment. Supportive queer community!!
I want to start off my saying I think this gym is a great idea and Ive interacted with several members who I can tell are getting something really special out of it. They push for a fun community and I think the work theyre doing is important. After seeing ads on Facebook and feeling like a lump after 6 months of working from home thanks to Covid, I signed up for the 4 week Homebody challenge, doing zoom workouts from home and given a personal coach and group that was doing the challenge with me. The coach I was assigned was barely in contact with me and I felt that I wasnt getting my moneys worth. We were told to track all our calories and to post it to our groups Facebook page daily, but nothing really came from it. We were told to purchase expensive fitness trackers like FitBits, but nothing came from that either. The head of the gym would send out videos with information about health and nutrition, but the videos seemed very haphazardly filmed with technical difficulties and the whole program seemed a little disorganized.I didnt lose much weight in the challenge, but do feel healthier as a result of the exercise and I do believe Ive gained muscle, which is nice. I signed up for the accountability and I believe I got that, but there is a lot of room for improvement before this gym can deliver what I was promised. And like I said above, I believe what this gym is doing is important and I want it to succeed! I hope they find this information helpful.
I’ve been a member for a few months and I love this gym! I’m straight as an arrow and feel welcome. I actually feel more welcomed at this gym than any other gym that I’ve joined. The classes are fun but challenging. Coach Nat has an amazing crew andI ❤️ Them! 😘👍 #getyoqueergymworkouton
I’ve always felt very welcomed here. It’s wonderful being able to have goal oriented relationships with the coaches and be surrounded by others on a similar wave length. I feel empowered to hit my goals and am currently as strong/healthy as I’ve ever been.
I was a member of The Queer Gym for approximately 8 months during which I became an “ambassador” for the program. Unfortunately, things quickly turned sour when I set boundaries about the time expected of me as an ambassador. Instead of talking it out or working to find a solution that would benefit both of us, the owner of the gym, Nat Huerta, scrapped the ambassador program “effective immediately.”Approximately one month after ambassador program ended, the owner posted several things on the gym’s instagram that were not received well by myself, nor other members of the community. When community members attempted to call Nat in, comments were turned off on all of the gym’s posts.Ultimately, I left the gym due to Nat’s narcissistic behavior, gaslighting, manipulation, and inability to take responsibility for the ways in which she has hurt members of the community.I would not recommend the gym to a friend, family member, nor acquaintance. I would not even recommend the gym to an enemy.
The Queer Gym is full of really great people - both the coaches and other gym members. The coaches are attentive to everyones needs, accommodating of injuries, and they really push you to sweat and surpass your goals in an unobnoxious, supportive way. I was having a really hard time with not being able to go to the gym during the pandemic lockdown, and the boredom and repetition of just going on nightly runs in my own neighborhood was starting to get to me. I did the 28 day challenge, and it really helped to kick start my fitness program and keep me accountable while giving me new workouts each week to fight the tedium. After the challenge I continued on with classes and coaching and am seeing consistent results in terms of increased strength and overall fitness. Would definitely recommend.
I signed up for a 4 week challenge early January. I am done with the 4 weeks and I just signed up to continue the classes. I am very satisfied with the classes that the coaches provide. I usually go to the 7pm classes during the week. I love the classes because we can get direct feedbacks from the coach. They are always supportive and they encourage you to do your best.During the 4 week challenge I met once a week for a talk with my coach. She helped me to define my goals and gave me useful advice on how to get better. During these 4 weeks, I went to 3 or 4 classes a week. I lost 6 pounds and lost almost 4% body fat. I had the chance to experiences different classes with different coaches. They have their own style and I appreciate them all. I also appreciate the fact that they offer a Flow class which is yoga inspired. The food plan was personalized to my food habits and diet (I am a vegetarian). There is a strong community spirit and I wont go anywhere else to work out. I never felt like I did not belong and everyone is very genuine and supportive. The team organizes a lot of event to bring everyone together outside the gym.I recommend that gym to anyone who is afraid to do the first step into a gym!
The Queer Gym is a heaven-sent. Idk why I took so long to join the community, maybe it was physically, it’s far from me (I’m in SoCal). Now that I’ve joined the virtual community, I feel great! Definitely a no judgement zone with folks that can relate to me.
I joined the gym in June 2019 and not only have I lost weight but I’ve learned to be accountable for my actions. The coaches here don’t let you slack off. They motivate you and remind you of your goals daily. At The Queer Gym you tell them your goals and they make it happen. Coach Nat taught me how to eat healthier and gave me all the tools to learn how to cook. I’ve learned so much and not only that, I’ve gained an amazing community that I’ve been searching my whole life. I’ve seen so many changes in myself, my work and my life and it’s only going to get better!
The trainer are very helpful and very welcoming. I’m very happy I started this journey. I truly started this path to meet more queer ppl and make more friends and it’s become much more
Ive worked out at so many different gyms in so many different cities...Cross Fit, Kaia Fit, Krav Maga, Crunch, Planet Fitness, Plyometrics--literally I will try anything to convince me to work out.Queer Gym is different. They are SERIOUS about you feeling good not only about the workouts they provide, but also about yourself WHILE YOURE WORKING OUT! That is HUGE! And amazing for motivation to keep pushing and showing up :)Plus, the workouts are KILLER. In the best way. Even when I get nervous looking at a workout, it always ends up being a blast. The sheer feeling of community at Queer Gym is definitely what sets them apart. First time showing up I felt welcomed for exactly who I am and what my goals are. Its such a good feeling, since working out (especially when you are feeling not in shape) can be so intimidating--not here! Every single coach (and member for that matter) wants to see you succeed. Everyone is committed to your success. But what about COVID? Very little has changed with the structure of workouts too, which really helps normalized working out during lockdown. Add in the fact that these coaches are always working to find safe and healthy ways for all us Homies to socialize and foster community--seriously what more could you ask for??If youre looking for a gym that is going to not only push you to achieve your fitness goals, but also care about your mental health and overall well-being, there is literally no place better. I am in a much happier place mentally since joining the Queer Gym, and I am getting more and more comfortable with my body everyday as all of the QG coaches work to push me to my personal best.
*Review during COVID of fitness challenge*I joined The Queer Gyms fitness challenge during quarantine (remotely from Los Angeles). I had struggled to find a gym I liked after moving, and had also not found a new crew of queer friends since getting to LA.I had left an appt with my doctor where we talked about getting back into working out and eating healthier when I saw an ad for Queer Gym. I connected with JoJo, who was amazing and got me really excited for the challenge. While its not cheap, the last few weeks have been SO WORTH IT:- Classes are varied, with some absolutely killer workouts but also some great yoga and really fun dance classes. They switch the workouts up each week, so I never feel like I do the same thing twice.- Coaches are great. They are tough and dont let you cheat yourself, but still inclusive and encouraging. Its a hard balance to hit, but they all do it well. I know that Ill be pushed to do better, but not judged.- Working with a 1-1 accountability coach through the challenge has been awesome. We get really invaluable information about nutrition, sleep and mental health and are encouraged to make sustainable changes.Nothing is about a quick-fix - Coach Nat is all about making sustainable, attainable changes to your life that make you happier and healthier, while still being able to enjoy yourself and have fun.Plus, the environment is extremely inclusive to people with different sexual orientations, but also gender orientations. Every class starts with people sharing their pronouns, and the program and other members are extremely respectful of everyones identity. Such a badass group of humans.Queer Gym has definitely been a game-changer, and I cant wait to continue on!
I like to think of myself as relatively nutrition and fitness-savvy, but I lack intrinsic motivation. Although I will work out by myself, I dont push myself as much as I should when I work on my weight loss journey solo. I have a bit of a competitive spirit. The best results I ever got with working out were with a personal trainer; however, working, in grad school full-time, and having the misfortune of commuting 2.5 hours one way to work, my health took a back-seat to my professional aspirations. To say I let myself go, was an understatement. About a month before I joined the gym, I started a new job, relocated closer to work, and decided to begin focusing on my health. Thus, I began working out more. Since the gyms were closed and I couldnt do my usual 5x5 training schedule, I started doing more HIIT, more yoga. I began seeing ads on Instagram about the Queer Gym, and it felt pretty targeted, but after a few glasses of wine, I decided to request more information.I had a conversation with Coach Nat, the owner, and was signed up immediately with the challenge the next day. Heres the challenge: 28 days to attend a wide variety of classes ranging from the upper body, lower body, intense HIIT style classes, foam rolling, yoga, and dance classes while also focusing on your nutrition.Since I had experience calories tracking already, it wasnt so much about learning about nutrition for me, but rather the accountability piece. I worked with Coach KJ, and I was about to narrow down what my problem was - for someone who works out quite a bit, I wasnt eating enough protein or eating enough to sustain my active lifestyle. Now lets talk results --I attended classes six days a week (with Monday being a two workout day) and had a calorie deficit hovering between 500-800 calories per day. During the challenge, I weighed myself daily, tracked calories daily, and took my measurements weekly.Between 05/10/2020 through 06/10/2020, I lost 5.4 pounds total, bringing me from 226 to 220.6; however, the most impressive part is I lost 6.0986 pounds of fat (total of 1.5% reduction in body fat). Overall, my fat loss equaled 7.5 inches lost. The most considerable changes occurred in my arms (0.75 inches lost in both), shoulders going down by 2 inches, and my low waist losing 1.5 inches.Although the challenge is over, I am continuing to work with Coach KJ and continuing to workout six days per week.As a recommendation to get the best data points, I highly recommend having a scale that tracks body fat, a food scale, and measuring tape. I was feeling discouraged throughout the challenge because I didnt lose as much weight as other people; however, I still had improvements in my fitness and throughout my body. The results do show that if you put in work and hold yourself accountable, you also will be able to achieve great results.I will update this review again in about two months once I reach my three-month check-in.Till then, I hope to see you in a class.
Great workouts and great coaches! I love working out here and feeling part of a positive inclusive community.
Went in to interview for a free fitness camp that actually costs $600. Would have been fine with the “we hang on to your money and return it when you succeed” model, but they actually just ‘credit’ you that money in more work outs. I don’t mind them getting people in the door but this dishonest salesmanship was a waste of time and gas.
I love this gym. I have never felt so comfortable working out in my life. I’m excited to go every morning. I just completed the six week challenge and I have lost ten pounds and five percent body fat. Thanks guys!!!
This is by far the best gym Ive ever been to. I joined about 2 months ago with their 6 week challenge. My goal was to loose 20 pounds and after much dedication and motivation from my partner (she was also in the challenge) I met my goal! Im currently in their second challenge called Bring a Friend Challenge and Ive convinced my college bestie to do it with me. Im so ready to switch to a healthy lifestyle and Im thankful that its with this gym.
I was previously asked to give a 5 star rating to be entered into a raffle. After the poor quality services and anti-Blackness at the gym, I am editing my rating without being coaxed into it.I went through a layoff and some major health issues while being at the gym. I asked for pandemic-related payment resources and they didn’t have any. For an Oakland-based gym that supposed to be inclusive, the price point is way too high. They should have scaled it down when they went online. You get way less quality but still costs more than Equinox (make it make sense...)The interactions were starting to feel very businesslike, and the gym was growing too fast with an online model. Coaches left me on read often and tested me with sporadic check ups that felt inauthentic. There is a LOT of appropriation of Black culture at the gym, but barely any Black members because the price point is so high. It’s also Oakland based but I haven’t seen one Black coach even though turnover is very high for coaches. They seem to only hire Latinx and White coaches. I tried to give them feedback that the “Oakland Booty” class was appropriative, and having a majority white class twerk as a workout was inappropriate. I don’t think things changed. I felt uncomfortable. I was initially planning to go back after I recovered from my illness, but decided against it.I also was often pushed too hard and ended up with several shoulder injuries. They need to better plan the workouts. Super high impact and not great for your body, especially the bootcamp style workouts. I stopped going to them after I was reinjuring my shoulder almost every time I joined that class.Lack of accessibility, cultural appropriation/anti-Blackness, and too high of a price point for me to want to stay while I resolved my health issues.I don’t think the gym owner takes accountability for her actions. Time after time, it seems like people online are just getting blocked by her. I decided to disengage from the “community”.PAY YOUR COACHES A LIVABLE WAGE! Give them benefits. This capitalism gave the gym is playing is cruel, especially if you want to hire queer and trans coaches.
I’ve been working out here for 7 years! TQG is a very special place - magic happens with coaches and programs that are 1) effective: always challenged with something new that blows me away with results 2) accepting and supportive: none of the BS competitive pissing contests I’ve experienced at other gyms 3) omg - SO FUN!: sometimes I feel like a kid again just playing and laughing to exhaustion - best workouts ever!Nat and her team have really created something extraordinary with The Queer Gym - that just gets better and better. It’s not for everyone - don’t bother if you’re not a 9 or 10 on the motivation scale and not ready to be challenged in ways you never expected (including your own phobias and isms around LGBTQ+ folx). But if you’re super motivated and hella open, check them out - you know you’re curious!
Unfortunately this gym was a huge disappointment. I had such high hopes for it. Its not a gym where you can just go to work out. All they do is offer a high pressure sales pitch for a 6 week boot camp type program. If you arent physically up for it, it is basically an exercise in dealing with their explanations of why it should work for anyone. If you are young and have no heath issues maybe it works fine, but their workouts hurt my back and flared up my sciatic pain worse than it had been in years. My doctor told me just to stay away from this type of work out. So it was a waste of over $500 if you include the awful supplements they sell which just made me sick, and Ill stay far away from things like this in the future. Disappointing because I was hoping for an inclusive environment I could just work out safely and it turned out to be a very expensive lesson in false expectations.
Scam Alert. Maxed out my credit card and never returned my calls. I chose a 6 week challenge vegan option. Got a meat based menu sheet and after multiple calls was rotated into another group to start all over again 5 weeks later. Not very motivating to have to beg for your trainer to interact with you. Lost over $450 before I cancelled the credit card..Natale the owner spent alot of attention getting the credit card information and consult. Again, no return follow up.
I join the queer gym in December and I couldn’t be happier. I love the community at this gym.
Please save your money and do not- I repeat do not join any of their challenges, they do not follow there own rules or contracts. I joined in January on the 9th got a 6 week challenge I was pumped, they charge you 600 for the program and will allow refunds if you are pregnant during the challenge and or move out of state. I was sick all of the time, I just thought my body wasnt used to the strenuous workouts, come to find out- I was pregnant. I was hospitalized for dehydration multiple times. Ive asked for a refund, what was offered was an option to upgrade and take advantage after the birth of my new baby and they tried to up charge me 1397 dollar Courtney Rokowski. After I told her that was out of my budget, she blew me off, will not respond to me or return any of my phone calls! Please do not spend your money here, they are heartless and cruel. I only made it to two classes and theyve emptied my checking account by 600 dollars.
The queer gym trainers and community are unparalleled in quality and in-gym time experience. Honestly the in-gym experience is more than 5 stars, but the rest... I joined the six week challenge at a deeply critical time, and tho I was (just barely) able to make my goal, it felt like a very solo affair overall with no renewal options to keep involved in the community offered to me once the challenge ended. It was the most depressing end of a challenge I could have imagined, just losing access to my new found community regardless of the rewards to my updated bod, as no documentation around membership was being presented to me at my exit and the process was so deeply invalidating and overwhelming to end the challenge that I left in tears feeling like Id never be able to come back again, the oppposite of how you should feel after shredding 5% body fat in six weeks. I see huge opportunities for the challenge staff and overall admin to make a more Whole, validating, and authentic experience for everyone involved.
Always a good time at the queer gym :)
I heard about the 6 week challenge and thought to myself why not ? It was time to get my health back in order and my stress levels DOWN! Ive never been one to do classes at gyms so I was a little hesitant at first. This gym is all classes by the way... The second I walked in the door, all of the fear and insecurities I had left me. No mirrors or jerky, lifting bros ?! Sign me up!While there are currently no showers or fancy amenities, it seems as though they are continuously working on ways to better the new space they just moved into. Part of the growing pains of a growing gym I suppose. With that said, the classes are getting a little larger than i would like but I imagine over time, that will be smoothed out as well. All in all, if you want your butt kicked continuously by knowledgeable, supportive, awesome coaches, its worth checking out!
Sketchy - they try to scam you out of money. Best to use a virtual credit card with them. I had to cancel my card.
Love this place. Coaches are tough workouts are hard and youll love every second of it
So motivating. Great community spot to workout with amazing coaches.
Very inclusive environment with great trainers. They helped me get closer bto #bodygoals. Only problem is finding parking.
I stepped up to the 6th Week Challenge because I needed a way of committing myself to change. With a meal plan, unlimited access to crossfit-like classes for 6 weeks, and $500 at stake, I knew I had to BE and STAY COMMITTED. Embracing a new opportunity can be EXCITING, but one must also accept the fact that it is going to take dedication, hard work, & COMMITMENT TO SELF. During my first week of the challenge, I expected perfection from myself and almost talked myself out of the program. Every day I had to do a mental check-in to remind myself why it was important to re-commit. Show up, just keep showing up, Id tell myself. One day at a time, just follow the plan. But sometimes following the plan to the T didnt seem to give me results, so I pushed harder. THERE IS NO ONE SIZE FITS ALL APPROACH TO ANYTHING. Youll need more faith in yourself than faith in program, because when youre tired, when youre not seeing the results you expect, YOU GOTTA STAY IN THE GAME. The gym will give you the tools you need- a WONDERFUL workout environment, quality equipment, & GREAT workouts that WILL make you stronger, AMAZING STAFF that will teach you proper techniques, that will push you, and cheer you on along the way; but at the end of the day you need to SHOW UP LIKE YOU MEAN BINESS. When life gives you lemons, YOU determine how bitter or how sweet your lemonade will taste. A wall plants itself in front of you (mine was named Plateau), kick the booch in the face & pull yourself up w/ everything youve got!! (I reduced my protein to 3.5 oz/meal and crossed over to the vegetarian meal plan). I am BEYOND GRATEFUL to Nat, The Queer Gym, FOR GIVING ME THE OPPORTUNITY TO MEET MY GOAL & COMPLETE THE CHALLENGE. Trust me when I say to you, if I was able to do it, YOU CAN DO IT!!Sincerely,Group 2 Challenger

Shady business practices that extend to the owner taking out and not paying back loans.

There might not be mansplaining, but the transphobia and is rampant. The Queer Gym is a rainbow-washed girlboss spectacle. There are so many problems with this place. The sell makes it easy for Natalie to prey on marginalized bodies. Don’t let the marketing fool you. Natalie makes pyramid-scheme-like claims to her employees then refuses to pay them. The psychological abuse is rampant amongst staff and there is zero accountability.Entrepreneurship isn’t for everyone and it’s especially not for people who refuse to listen to their customers and treat employees with respect. Give someone else your money.
