Took my old Volvo in for some alignment work. The car was returned with the steering wheel way off center. Was told that I had to spend an additional $ 1000 dollars on a new rack and pinion unit. Or course I took the Volvo to another mechanic who confirmed the rack was just fine. And they put the steering wheel back to straight ahead. Be careful with Torchios.

Mike at Torchios has been helping me get my AC working in my Dads old Ranger pickup. We are having a heck of a time finding the compressor and its ongoing. Way back when our firm had company cars, we brought all our vehicles to Torchios on Webster St. They had a great reputation.And based on my current experience, they *still* deserve that great reputation today.Because I dont live in Oakland, I went to another shop closer to home that I thought had a good reputation. They ended up misdiagnosing my problem, and charged me quite a bit for the experience. They realized they had not fixed the problem when my engine light came back on, and then offered to do the job for $3000 - I said let me get a second opinion, and Torchios diagnosed it correctly (water pump on Ford 3.5 Duratec engine - not exactly unknown), and fixed it for under $2000. I know, it sounds expensive, thats because you have to open the damn engine up to get at it. Its a design problem.I have also used these guys for brakes too. Its just a good shop.

I live in New York but spend 4 months a year in Oakland visiting family. I keep a car at my daughter and have it serviced at Torchio’s. Michael and the rest of the people are always courteous, knowledgeable and the service is excellent. I find them superior to any mechanics I use in New York. They are honest and take the time to explain everything they are doing. They answer all my questions and are reasonably priced. I highly recommend them to anyone who wants their car serviced

We did some research last year and found Torchios was our best bet in the area to take our Honda Civic to get a new battery - they had overall positive reviews and reasonable prices. When we had to bring our car back a few months later for a battery issue, Mike (Michael B.) was friendly and helpful about it, looked our car up in their system, and popped in another battery in a few minutes without any hassle. Definitely recommend Torchios and we would rather come back here for future service than the nearby Honda car dealership service department!

Mike was so honest, he wouldnt take my money after trying to help diagnose a needle in a haystack problem. Then, he replaced my alternater at less than half of what the dealership quoted and he got it done very quickly. I love this place and feel very comfortable trusting them with my vehicle.

Michael is honest and straightforward. He provides you with an estimate for repairs and goes over the details with you before starting the work. Theres no pressure at all. Last trip in we discovered my head gasket needed replacement but I dont have the money for it right now - so Im not doing it yet. Michael completely understood and just advised that I do it soon. Ill only stopped taking my vehicles Torchios when I no longer own one.

Mike was quick to respond to my inquiry and was capable of handling a job that another shop couldnt do. Mike and Roger were both helpful and friendly. My repair was a tough job with some risk involved, so Mike helped me understand that risk before starting the repair. He was able to complete the whole job for a fair price. Im very relieved to have my car back in working order again! Ill definitely go back to Torchios if I need any more work done.

Horrible,he kept my car on the streets for 7 days, then told me my battery was stolen. He didnt fix my inoperable car and I had to pay to to have it towed to another shop. Drug tweakers walk all night and bother vandalise your car.

This place is my new shop. I dropped off my car on a Tuesday afternoon knowing it wouldnt get looked at until Thursday at the earliest. I get a call Wednesday afternoon its done! Roger and Mike are who Ive dealt with the are friendly and hardworking. I will be back. Oh another great feature is they are down the block from at least 2 rental car shops. So great. It had been several years since Id been because I moved, but they are as responsive and skilled as ever. No wonder the tire shop around the corner always recommends them! Mike is terrific.

Honest and great service. I dont take my car anywhere else for service anymore. Recently had a flat on my 2018 Honda Accord and the dealership wanted to just sell me a new tire for $150. Torchios took a look and said tire is still good, only need a patch for $30.Torchios will do honest and good work, and charge you a fair price.

In the middle of their move I had a real car problem. My car had overheated in San Francisco and after a CalTrans tow followed by an AAA tow my car was left at Torchios at 8pm after closing. The delay in getting the repairs done didnt matter because of financial reasons on my end ... But I really appreciated the way Roger put up with my anxious phone calls and inability to shut up sometimes. If youre in a hurry to get something fixed, this may not be the place to go, but other than that, I cant complain.
