I would not recommend this place to anyone. We always have issues from here. Tried to get a used tire and they put 2 on that were too small which I didn’t mind until one of them kept going flat so now I have one that’s too small and one too big.

Recently had tates replace a 7.3 diesel motor in my 99 f350 superduty and they did a very good job and was more than fair with me. This being a diesel engine replace, as you can guess, it wasnt cheap. They worked with me on any issues that came up and i was happy with the outcome.

They are very nice, they also do a great job on there work I would highly recommend them to anyone .

We were in need of an honest and reliable mechanic after the Gasaway’s repair shop oEnergy retired and closed. We decided on Tate’s because my father used them before he died.They repaired the ac switch and the blower motor on my husband’s Infiniti. They also fixed a rattling in the exhaust cover. Ive been going to Tates about 5 years, used to have good service and cared about the customer but now its more about the money. The prices are over-the-top, they dont try to work with you, and if you have an issue with the repair they will not try to rectify the issue. The last few repairs I had were not done properly and when I called about it there was an excuse as to why they choose not to even partially refunded me. Its fine because if they choose to lose a loyal customer over a few dollars its fine at least I realize now as opposed to throwing away more money in the long run what type of business they are now. Definitely have gone downhill from where they used to be.

My car was towed to Tates after a car wreck and I had to leave it there until the insurance company came and picked it up for review of the damages. I had a battery for my subwoofers, 7 basketball shoes and 3 basketballs in my trunk. I had over 20 CDs in my car as well because my aux cord doesnt work. All of this was missing when Copart recieved the vehicle from Tates. No doubt in my mind they stole my items, there is no other excuse as to why my belongings are missing.

Ive been here more than once, its always my go-to place in Oak Ridge due to the kind nature of the employees. Im very thankful they were able to work with me on a tire for my car considering I have children I transport daily and also drive to Knoxville multiple times per week. My tire was awful and could have blown at any time. Its the little things that make a business good like actually caring for the customers. I will be back and thank you all again!

Brought in my 06 tribute it had bad coils and ecu. They fixed me up at a fair price and great customer service. I even sent my dad over for an oil change on his Q56 while he was in town. It was in and out quickly as promised. They were fair and honest, I would take a vehicle to them again without question.

The best auto shop you will find! Have used them for years, they always do great work at reasonable prices, and have always been very honest. I have a very old car that they keep running like a dream and have never tried to do anything unnecessary to it (and are a fraction of the cost of the dealership!!). Reading some of these reviews makes me think about half of Tates customers must go into Waffle House expecting it to be Ruths Chris. Its a salvage yard. . .they sell used parts. It will be dirty. The parts will not be new. Theyll probably work, and if not, the guys at Tates will make it right. I buy a lot of parts, used and new, and my experiences there have been better than at most other salvage yards. Parts are as represented and fit properly. Prices are reasonable and service is good. If you want something that needs to be pulled, call ahead. If you ask them to pull something, show up and pay for it. If you show up and pay for something and you have a problem with it, be human, tell them first, not the internet.

Im going to start by saying that i had heard plenty or negative about this place but when they gave me the lowesr estimate on some work i needed done i decided to decide for myself and im glad i did. They have since done some additional work for me. Plus i got tires there too for a steal really. It is what it is- salvage and mechanic shop and it looks the part. Its not dirty though and there is a seating area for you to wait with clean restrooms. I was surprisingly impressed by that. The people that work there are so nice too. They explained things to me and answered any questions thoroughly and patiently. They also update the status while working on it. They even helped me figure the best path financially for some work i needed and i liked that they were willing to help me save money and not just take it. Ive not had any issue with work done there, my tires are doing great and now if im needing something done i call them first. Give them a try like i did and see what you think

Should have called and told us what repairs would cost before making said repair. $320 was a little high for what they did but they did get it done.Not impressed. The car runs fine though.I would suggest Sexton Auto Repair in Oak Ridge!That doesnt mean theyre not good.

Brought in a Jeep with roof and windshield damage. They put a new windshield and fixed the roof damage in one day. Pretty quick if you ask me looks pretty professionally done. So Id recommend.

Called for a part, Yelp he said they had it. Okay we go over there 1 day later and oh we can have it shipped here from our other location.. well for one didnt no u had another location. Dont think so cause I ask everyone. But my issue is that every time we try to buy something from them its always something when it comes down to it always... Ive used these guys a few times, the work has always been right. Presently they swapped out an engine on my caddy, it took 3 days. Mr. Tate explained every thing they were doing and even took me back in the shop to explain a couple of things I didnt understand. Being a female, this type of action with honesty and knowledgeable service made for an excellent experience!

I came in 10 minutes before they closed – and they still fixed my car. They stayed 30 minutes late to get it done.They fixed it right – and even diagnosed a problem that my other mechanic hadnt figured out in two years.Good, fair pricing. About 10% less than most others.

This place obviously dosent want any business. I called about some tires and the guy on the phone said he would check and see if they had them and call me back. No call back. I called again the next day and asked again about the tires, and again, he said he would go look and call me right back. Im still waiting.......it has been over a week now. I also had a friend tell me they did her the same way. So, I have come to the conclusion that they just dont like business. Hopefully they have enough regular customers that they actually do business with, that will keep their business afloat. They definitely wont be getting any recommendations from me, thats for sure.

Definitely not a fan. Went in to ask about a replacement door handle. The guy at the counter was short, rude, and refused to look up information about a part. Towed my nieces car less then 50 feet after an accident. When she called about coming to get same day they said they were closed! Hours on website said different. Nice way to run a business and screw people unknowledgeable! Always remember YOU have the choice to call whomever you want in an accident to come get your car, don’t call these people!!!

So bad that its a nightmare. Tips everyone off. Got me for $1472. Problem not fixed and in a few.days, radiator that was not repaired, broke and clogged up hoses and block cracked. Junked Honda Accord because it would take another $1500 to really fix it. Had to buy another car. My attorney said I had a case but by the time I paid his fees, court costs, I would probably re over $500. He gives oil changes of his customers recommend him. Beware. Biggest crook in town and doesnt care.

We buy a part and they mail it to us. A holes sent us a part that the prongs on the plug were bent it was useless. My original on my wrecked car looked better. So they say was can mail it back and get our money back. Yeah right. Theyve had it for a while now and wont give me my money back. Outof all the other used part places we have used we have never had this problem. DONT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE CROOKED PEOPLE. Well unless you have money to throw away.

I am ignorant of auto mechanics and so depend upon the honesty of people like this to keep my car running smoothly and to keep me safe on the road. I took my car in to change a tire and find out what was causing an extreme wobble when driving. They changed my tire and told me there was nothing else wrong. They also made it very clear that they were closing for the day (2:00 on Saturday, which is understandable) and that I could bring the car back on Monday if there was still a problem, which I had already assured them there WAS still a problem. I had a friend look at the car and he suggested I not even drive it around more because the back left bushings were deteriorated and the front sway bar links too. So, they sent me back out in a car too dangerous drive without even telling me it was dangerous.I then called back to see if they would replace the bushings for me. The guy who answered treated me like I was speaking gibberish and cut me off more times than I could count.I know I dont speak the lingo, thats why Im calling you! No reason to talk down to someone you endangered and then asked you for help.

I was real happy with the service, I took my car in without knowing what was wrong with it, I was scared that it was the transmission but it turned out to be a little piece called a lower control arm. They had it done before the time they told me, the price was reasonable and the answered every question I had. Thanks Tates!!

Came to day for a blower motor and found out that the pigtail was bad on my car for it so they gave me the pigtail for free. They will be my main choice for parts. Thanks you all so much.

I had a dead battery and called them without checking their reviews, and thats when an horrible experience begun.They charged 50 bucks for towing, which I can live with, 79.99 bucks for a new battery with so called one year warranty, and 70 bucks for labor. About one month later, the battery went dead again after one or two days parking in the garage. My first response was to call them, and they sent a guy to my house and jump-started the car. I drove to their place to find out whats going on, but they never fully checked the battery, instead, they claimed the alternator was bad and asked me to pay 285 bucks for a used alternator. This time, I insisted to get a second opinion, then they charged me for 100 bucks for the jump-start.During the following 6 months, the battery keeps failing on me. At first, it needed a 10 minutes drive to charge properly, then 20 minutes, 30 minutes, .... I have to take a jumper-kit in the car.I finally had enough and replaced it with a new battery at Walmart (85 bucks in total). The Walmart guy took a full battery test and found that its defected and wont work properly.So, I spent 300 bucks at this place just for a battery problem and still ended up with a bad battery.

I will not ever take another automobile to Tates, he doesnt stand behind his work, he keeps repeating himself over and over about the same thing and never once did he say Im sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused you. I payed a lot of money for my truck to come back the same way it went I could have used the money I used paying for it to be fixed. But no I inreturn payed for it to not be fixed. But to accept this is not a good idea. People need to know how it is.

I would rather get hit by a train. Then cone here and get ripped off by these cheap stakes. Youve got to watch what you buy from here. I had a friend who was getting his muffler replaced and they just duct taped it on. I bought many parts from this place. All of the parts have been broken in some type of way. Great place to get parts for your vehicles, or maintenance on a vehicle

On July 13th 2007 I purchased a Transmission for $768.00 with low mileage and an agreed 6 month warranty to match a competitors offer and secure my business.The transmission internal pump failed before the 6 month warranty expired and was verified by a the repair shop that recommended and coordinated with Tates Salvage and Service for my car repair on my behalf. After contacting Tates Salvage and Service repeatedly For 24 days they refused to honor their warranty and gave many excuses and failed to return calls repeatedly. I purchased and paid another unit myself in order to restore my transportation. After this purchase Tates Salvage and Service Called and offered a replacement transmission for $455.00 with a 6 month warranty to which I declined as I had already resorted to purchasing from another vendor due to constant neglect from Tates Salvage and Service. I then offered the receipt for reimbursement of the newly purchased transmissions for $310.00 which is a very small sum compared to the original purchase that was warrantied and the owner again refused to honor his warranty or compensate me in any way. Since then while working to purchase a new transmission and have it installed many mechanic shops and other automotive suppliers have warned me and verified this reputation with Tates Salvage & Service. Do not do business with a dishonest company. Check their BBB reports and ratings on various other sites.

They are not professional at all I herd a lot about this place after one of our family members took his van there the try to say he said it was a 4 cyl car but never look the car up or looked at it just took it apart but Tates said he written it down but not on receipt it just had the name of the car but if you had a order and written it down the tec should of now that year and new that the water pump is recommended if you look the car up from the time belt it say that the water pump was recommended and what the tec was on before he took it apart ooo I forgot Tates told him that he wrote it down many wasnt paying attention but its OK they just dont know the company he rip off is known from a lot of people and businesses in the Anderson county $400 should Ben told before taken apart I will never take my car there and we will not recommend this place

David Tate is dishonest. He has his machanics fix something half way so the customer has to come back. Then he has his machanics make it so something goes wrong within a month. I wont take my van there.
