When my pup unexpectedly became very ill, I found this place in a Google search, and Im so very glad I did. While my dog was unable to recover, and I did ultimately have to choose to let him go, the staff here was beyond empathetic, kind, courteous, and communicative for the time they had him through to when I just picked up his remains. To me, what made the biggest impression, is when I walked into the clinic, without having called, holding my unconscious and very sick shepherd mix in a blanket in my arms with no idea what to do, a lovely gentlemen literally ran over to take him from me without question and give him immediate care without even knowing what the problem could be. His confidence and compassion were clear in those actions, and I was put at ease. Thank you to the staff for being, across the board, absolutely stellar. You made a very tough time bearable. Ive had to do it once before, and it was a very different experience than what you provided. While I hope my other pup, Navi, stays healthy as long as possible, of course, if she doesnt, I wouldnt go anywhere else. - Links family

This is for the Oak Creek location. My cat had her first seizure early in the morning. I called Lakeshore and they were able to get her in right away. My cat was seen and assessed in a timely manner. The doctor thoroughly discussed possible causes, tests they could run and options for us. She answered all my questions and was incredibly kind. Every single staff member I encountered was caring, thoughtful, attentive and patient, from the front desk staff on the phone, to the vet techs and the vet herself. I wouldn’t hesitate to bring my pets here again or to recommend this place to friends or family. They followed up after she left to see how she was doing, they were good about transferring records to regular vet for post ER check.

I am at loss for words- I shouldve known better than to have let the vet care for my Scout after she developed an attitude with me. Dr. Thompson said she was concerned with his depressed breathing & then gave him narcotics that made him crash. The same dose they start opiate addicts with at a methadone clinic.. of course he died. The vet continued with the rude attitude after our cat was pronounced dead. I am so mortified.

My wife and I had to bring our dog here late on a Wednesday evening. We both couldnt have been more happy with the service. From start to finish, Initially calling on the phone, to bringing our pup in, to talking to the front desk clerk and talking with the Vet techs we couldnt have been cared for better. Everyone was friendly, assertive and treated us and our pup wonderfully. I felt that our pup was in great hands. This will be my go to emergency vet from here on out. Thank you for the wonderful service.

I dropped my dog off at 10:30 for an eye infection and I missed a call at 12:36. When I called back the girl on the phone said he was ready for pick up, then when I got there they said they were just calling about his history, and told me that I was the one who misunderstood them, several times. I live in Racine so I had to drive back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. I literally drove 120 miles round multiple trips. When I finally bugged them enough I got him back in my arms at 3:20, come to find out, they still hadnt done anything for my dog! What is this? ITS BEEN 5 HOURS! The doctor told me itll be another half hour for her to write a prescription for antibiotics. The whole experience gave me so much anxiety on top of what I was already having for my dog. Ill say the office staff was adult-like mannered, the prices are reasonable and I may trust the care they offer but only when they actually provide it! Im coming to an ER to pay extra for the prompt care. It should not be an all day event. There is no vestige of quality for prompt service at this facility.

How can you be a 24/7 emergency vet and turn someone away that is having an emergency with their pet?? They wouldnt even allow me to wait. I was told to go to another emergency vet 20 minutes away. In my book, this is completely unexceptable.

If you own a pet at all.. stay away! Had to use them last year during Covid shutdowns when my dog started having breathing issues. Thousands of dollars later, and after telling them to F* off. I took my dog to a private vet to find out what he had was genetic and there was no cure. The best thing to do was put him down (which we did). So, instead of Lakeshore being honest with us, they used us as a money pit at a time when money was tight for everyone. This place is horrendous, they do not care for your pet, it’s all about $$$ for them. Go elsewhere!

The experience I had today at the emergency vet will be one I will never forget. My puppy ate his blanket and vomited, had diarrhea, and is now shaking/limping. They refused to see him because I am unable to pay today (because I get paid tomorrow). The receptionist recommended me to take out a loan with them and they said I will get approved immediately so they can see him. The loan said that they will get back to me in 5-7 business days, okay so what do I do about my dog? What am I supposed to do this this loan now? Its a hard inquiry on my credit report. Basically just going to let my dog suffer in pain until you even LOOK AT HIM! I will never go back here and will take back all of my good reviews about this place. This is a mediocre business.

This is in regard to LAKESHORE on Silver Spring! They almost killed my Freddie! 🐾🐾He was in ICU for 5 days. During this time, they kept assuring me that he was STABLE!When I picked him up, he was anything but stable. His whole little butt was taken off by an inexperiencedhandler. His skin was gone! No ointment was prescribed; no collar was put on him, no prescription for pain or calming! This was Christmas Eve that I picked him up....only to see, and feel the pain that he was in.This place doesn’t even deserve a star. Find out...the BUSINESS changed hands, and other doctors weren’t there anymore....it is now owned by a company conglomerate!

The wait times have always been a joke with Lakeshore but today took the cake. I called as I was on my way with a 12 week old puppy who clearly broke his front paw after a jump and was told to “slow my roll” and that they were at capacity and would not see me. An ER vet who doesn’t take emergencies? Give me a break. You turned away an emergency and lost my respect. Funny how online says 0 patients in line and I could get in line yet you tell me over the phone you’re at capacity. Do yourself and your pets a favor and find another ER Vet.

I will never in my life go to oak creek emergency vet ever!! I took my dog there around 4 o’clock last night because his paws were so infected and so inflamed they were bleeding when I got there they took him right away to the back and I’m assuming they were doing exams because I was the only patient in the building waiting comes to find out my dog was stuck in a small cage for six hours with no water and was never even checked out by a vet. They were trying to say that they were understaffed but every time a new patient came in there was a new vet doctor that came out so they obviously weren’t understaffed. every time I would ask the front desk what’s going on with my dog they would walk behind and they would laugh. And then I asked him if I could please have someone check my dog out and they bring my dog out and tell me that my dog isn’t considered an emergency because he’s not sick or dying. But I guess bleeding from all 4 paws isn’t considered an emergency. Like you guys are considered a 24 hour emergency vet and I was in need of an emergency and I was just pushed away. I also called them back the next morning and I told them and they still told me that my dog is in sick or dying so he’s not considered an emergency.

Our new puppy showed signs of pain and itching which made him so uncomfortable. When I called our normal vet they would not schedule a same day appointment. I knew something was wrong. Dr. Rice and her staff took great care of my puppy and quickly saw he had a double ear infection. They cleaned his ears and treated him with antibiotics and steroids. He was resting comfortably in a few hours. I’d give them 5 stars but I think the cost of his medicine was over inflated. However, I’m very satisfied with the level of care the clinic provided to our brand new pup.

They were also very communicative throughout the process, calling me three times to go over next steps.Best of all, even though she was in pain I could tell my dog felt comfortable with the technician who came to the car to take her in and was wagging her tail as she came back through the lobby when they were bringing her back.Highly recommend!!

I rushed my older cat there yesterday to be put down. I called ahead of time so they knew my situation. I sat there for over 3 hours separated from my pet before they finally did their job. 3-4 workers (not the doctor) came in the room I was in to make me repeat the same story about my cats condition and history. Then the doctor calls me on my phone to get the story again and tells me she wants to wait until my regular vets office opens to get records. After all that happened she calls me and offers to do a bunch of tests and medication. I told her no and she continued to talk me out of putting my pet down, switching my words around and hours later finally agree to euthanize my poor cat. I told them i wanted to see and spend time with my cat before they injected her with the sleeping meds, then they bring her in the room already completely a sleep. I was so upset and said my goodbyes. I was treated poorly and my pet sat for hours before anything was done. How can you call that place an emergency. The doctors name is Stephanie Eldredge. 2/01/21 (Oak Creek) My dog was misdiagnosed. I took my dog here because she was having shortness of breath. The doctor called me and diagnosed her with a pericardial effusion. She gave me two options; to euthanize her or take her home with pain medication. I told the vet she was fine an hour ago playing and running in the snow. The vet said this can happen very quickly and dogs decline rapidly when they have this.My dog was fine when we came home and had no issues. She was acting like her normal self. I took my dog to my primary vet, he also did an ultrasound and he stated my dog did not have pericardial effusion. He said as he read the report from Lakeshore, about my dog, he thought he was going to discuss euthanizing my dog at the appointment. My dog continues to run around and is happy! Always get a second opinion if you go to this place! I would never go here again!! Big thumbs down!!!6/10/21 update; My dog is still alive. Happy with no issues. I wanted to acknowledge the care our family received from Dr. Rice. Our Beagle, Abby, was 16 years old on March 2, 2020. She beat cancer after being diagnosed the previous May, 2019. In May, 2020 she started to accumulate a number of issues related to old age which we could manage but not cure. Increasingly, her quality of life declined but she was fighting to stay with us so we were not going to give up. However, the early morning hours on June 26, 2020, she quickly deteriorated in the middle of the night. We had to bring her to Lakeshore, Oak Creek to assist us at 4:00 am in helping her over the Rainbow Bridge. During these times of COVID-19, the staff - namely Dr. Rice and Trevor, were compassionate, kind, and responsive to our situation. Since we could not all be in the building with her, the staff placed her on a gurney and brought her outside to us where she was peacefully and humanely put to rest. Dr. Rice was calm and reassuring. She also made an effort to comfort us as Abbys family. During a very emotional time, Dr. Rice was empathetic, understanding and patient. Dr. Rice made an awful moment in our lives as calm and peaceful as it could have been. Dr. Rice is an amazing veterinarian.

I found a cat laying in the road which had been hit by a car and was still alive. I wrapped him in a blanket and drove it to lakeshore emergency vet specialists. On the way there I called to let them know I was bringing in a cat that had been hit and was severely injured. They told me that they would not see the cat because it was a stray. This cat was obviously well cared for and must have had a family who loved it. I told them that I would claim it as my own and put for all necessary vet care. They still refused to see it and told me I would have to drive to Milwaukee Domestic Animal Control...that was 30 minutes away and I had already driven 15 minutes with this poor cat writhing in pain and panting (I could also hear fluid building in its lungs as it was gurgling). I was crying and begged the woman to see the cat because it was suffering horribly and I didn’t know if it could make it 30 more minutes to Milwaukee. She again told me NO they would not see this poor cat. I was horrified that an EMERGENCY VET CLINIC would not care for this poor cat. It was someone’s loved pet I’m sure and all I wanted to do was get it relief from this pain and suffering. They refused us. For this reason I will NEVER refer anyone to this place. I also want to mention that they proudly displayed in their windows “stop social injustice”. Well guess what. You completely discriminated against this sweet cat I was so desperately trying to help. What kind of heartless people work here?!?!? I was disgusted by your uncaring staff. Never again will you receive one penny from my family. By the way...the cat survived the drive to Milwaukee where they were so kind and ran out to meet us and care for this sweet baby. Unfortunately he died shortly after arriving. That is 45 minutes of unnecessary torture and suffering this animal had to endure as I help it in my lap on the drive all because you refused us service.

This has to be the worst customer service experience Ive ever experienced in general. At 11:59am i called about a immediate issue with my dog. They took my information along with her symptoms and told me to take her in and notifiying me that is was a 200 min wait for her to get looked at. At 12:14pm i arrived at their facility and used the phone check system as in was directed. The person who answered seemed like they had no idea of why i was there. Gave them my info and dogs symptoms again. 5 minutes later a person came out and seemed confused on why i was there. Gave them my info and dogs symptoms again. Then was told with a very cindensending tone that i would be 5 hrs before my dog would be seen. I asked well what should i do. With a answer with a even more cindensending tone well itll be atleast 5hrs. So say ok what choice do i have she needs to be seen today. Which in when she reluctantly takes the dog. At 1:41 pm i get can asking what was wrong with my dog. I explain what think is wrong but im no dr. Again told it will be atleast 2 hr before the doctor can see her with a reluctant tone. 5 minutes later i call and say im coming to get my dog to bring her to another facility. At 1:59pm i arrived to pick my dog up. And then told that i owe $165 for services. Asked what services because no one has seen my dog. Suddenly my dog has been treated and ready for realease now. The hed my dog until i paid. Not sure how 2+ hrs goes to less than 20mins and no straight answers. I asked to speak to the doctor who called at 7:31pm. Who said she treated my dog upon her arrival. Obviously this place does have theyre business together. On a side note there are lots of social justice signs on the building along with a lecture about wearing mask on the phone prompt but while looking into the building with all glass front none of the employees are wearing mask until right before they walk out side the building to greet you and mask were promptly removed when they walked back in.

We ended up being there for about an hour, hour and a half I believe. Everything was thoroughly explained to us, including providing an estimate for care up-front. The cost seemed reasonable, as they took x-rays and provided medication for us to take home. We felt our kitten was in good hands the moment we walked through the door. I would go here for regular veterinary care if they provided this in addition to emergency services.

I took my cat on a Saturday. My cat had vomiting and bloody stool. I spoke to the vet about the cost. I went over it three times, and somehow the x-rays costed $250, not $50, which I repeated multiple times. Also, when I spoke to the vet, I mentioned that the total would be around $500. Instead, total was $715. This is a big difference. Make sure you get the quote in writing or repeat things multiple times, and mention two hundred and fifty, not just the numbers. After leaving four messages in two weeks, I spoke with clinic manager and she refunded me $125. Im also unhappy because after 10 days, I just wanted to get one more round of antibiotics for the cat, as the infection has cleared 80%. They were requesting for me to bring the cat in again at another $125. Instead, I had the records faxed over to my primary vet and he prescribed me antibiotics. Staff was very nice and polite(which is why it is a two and not a one star) and always checking to see if I needed any water or snacks....which was a valid question due to the fact that I had to sit in a room for a little over 2 hours waiting for the doctor to come back just to tell me what my dogs vitals were and what the poison control recommended for next steps. Not something that should have taken over two hours....I understand other more critical animals come in which may need immediate attention. But if the problem is that they only have one doctor working that causes such delay, then they need to adjust their staffing. If they have multiple doctors and that was not the cause for delay, then they need to adjust something. Also might I add, visualized in the hallway other parties who came into the facility after me...and left way before I was even given the basics of my dogs condition. So other animals were being seen while I waited patiently. Then when picking up my dog from hospitalization waited another 45 minutes. When I had spoken to the doctor on the phone before coming to get my animal, she gave me what exact time to show up...because she wanted me to avoid the shift change. Was much appreciated so I had the mentality arriving that my animal would be ready when I arrived. I even showed up little after the given time, to ensure they had sufficient time to have my animal ready to leave. Again had to watch yet more parties who came in after me to get their animals from the hospital....obtain their animal prior to me. Until I had to finally asked why there was such a delay. Then I was able to collect my animal.I get no place is perfect, and I do not expect perfection. I will note too that is is a new location that they moved into. But sometimes I do believe notes need to be made when there multiple instances of things just not making sense....

We lost our precious golden retriever Vinnie 23 days after TPLO surgery. We do not know what caused his death. We were told he was a healthy boy for surgery. The process at Lakeshore Vet in Oak Creek is rushed. The doctor performs an evaluation of your dog on a Monday and they promote surgery on Tuesday the following day. Do not subject your dog to surgery unless the doctor has performed a critical examination to uncover any and all health issues. We are devastated by the loss of our happy boy.

I had to put my 13 year old dog down. One of the hardest things I have experienced. I had to call lakeshore at 5 am on a Sunday, very upset, the staff was very understanding and compassionate. I showed up there within an hour and with Covid 19 so many restrictions in place, they met me outside and took my dog. We were able to be with her in a fenced in area attached to the building. They explained the whole process, gave us as much time as we needed to be with her. I could not thank their understanding and patience with us enough. We were able to get her paw print in clay before we left. About a week later they sent us a card with everyone’s signatures that work there and three more cards of my dogs paw prints. I wish they accepted regular check up appointments as well because they would be my permanent vet clinic. The best vet experience I have ever had during one of the most difficult experiences.

My rescue adolescent cat injured herself in a too ambitious jump. My regular vet, a fine one, was unable to take an emergency situation. So upon the advice of a coworker, I tried the Lakeshore emergency vet clinic in Oak Creek. Very fine experience. The vet and the support staff were on the ball and very communicative while I waited in my car (Covid protocol). Fees were reasonable and no pressure tactics were used. It was straight-up in terms of customer service, and very competent and friendly. 5 Stars. Mike Bjordal, Franklin

Our 3 year old Yellow Lab Chili had surgery to remove a mass on one of his paws. The entire staff at Lakeshore have been amazing. They take the time to get to know you and your pet. Chili stayed overnight and we knew he was in great hands. I highly recommend Lakeshore Veterinary. Chili also enjoys going back for his after care. For me that’s a great feeling knowing he’s comfortable with them.

Our dog had surgery here and weve taken her in for an emergency as well. The surgery went phenomenally well, our dog had surgery on her leg to fix a luxating patella & she was a brand new dog after. Years later shes still doing well. For the emergency we went in for, our dog (we later found out) pulled a muscle in her leg near her armpit. We thought she possibly fractured something. She was very unsure while in the examine room and the vet was so patient and kind with her.We are very satisfied with and thankful for Lakeshore Oak Creek!

Wonderful experience, the staff is lovely here. Yesterday I took my other dog to a different ER and the staff was terrible and it was more than double the price to treat my dog. At Lakeshore they listened to what both my dogs were going through even though i only brought one in. The other vet simply wanted to sell me on services and kept using words like terrifying results, scary results and “cutting” dogs.Highly recommend this place, they treated me like a mom who took my kids to the ER!!

People were great, thorough, and professional - downside is they were about 35% higher priced than everyone else for the same surgery. They were nice enough to let me know I could get a loan for my rescue cat to save his life. I am glad that this clinic is making good profit. I know many people love their pet and will pay good money to save them...but my advice is to simply shop around - you may be able to save about $2,000

Over the years, I have brought my pets to Lakeshore when my regular vet office has been closed. What pet gets really sick when your regular vet clinic is open??? I can say with certainty that Lakeshore has always dispensed excellent and compassionate care I was particularly impressed that the first words out of their staffs mouths was not, how are you going to pay for this? I can tell you that I have heard this from another ER in the Racine area on more than one occasion. Some have complained about a long wait, but I have not experienced that. I figure its an emergency clinic and they have got their hands full saving the most fragile. If my loved one can come home with me, the wait is not important.

My dog was not eating for five days and was throwing up. My regular vet was out of town for the weekend so I took her to Lakeshore Veterinary and they ran the necessary test and was able to determine that she had chronic kidney disease. They kept her overnight and administered fluids and was able to bring her creatinine level down, They then said I should follow up with her regular vet. They seemed to genuinely care for the well being of my dog. Hopefully I never have to take her to an emergency clinic again but if I do I will definitely take her back there.

Amazing caring staff on every interchange. I brought my dog in cardiac crisis and I was afraid she wouldnt even arrive alive. I walked into a place I had never been before and instantly a caring sweet vet assistant lovingly lifted Gigi from my arms and took her for oxygen. Every one was calm and courteous. They kept me posted on procedures and gave me estimates and choices...… and time to make my choices.. No pressure. Yes, one day in the oxygen booth and all the tests cost quite a lot but I felt supported and confident that Gigi was in the best hands possible every step of the 20 hours and now she is home and I am seeing improvements every hour back to the frisky, tail wagging, happy, Tibetan Spaniel that she always is. I am amazed that in only 34 hours she went from barely breathing, unresponsive, wet dishrag to a healthy happy dog again. I love it that they have private rooms with couches to spend time with your pet. I needed 2 hours with her to decide if I would take her home or leave her overnight for observation. I took her home knowing and trusting that if she needed to go back they were open 24 hours and the staff on every shift is warm, informed and sensitive. Sunni Boehme

In the last 18 months, we have lost 5 of our 6 cats all to different causes and Lakeshore Vet Specialists is where we sought care for each of their initial diagnosis. It seems that the adage that nothing good happens after midnight holds true for us. Each of our cats needed emergency treatment in the middle of the night and 3 of the 5 were all stabilized enough to come home and continue to receive care with our regular vet after a thorough and quality diagnosis in the Lakeshore emergency room. I think theyre a great resource to the south shore community and would highly recommend them. We are lucky to have access to quality vet services 24/7/365.

Our normally healthy dog was suddenly very sick and couldnt keep down any food. Our regular vet was unable to see her right away so they suggested we take her to Lakeshore Veterinary. There she was given fluids along with anti nausea meds and bland food, as well as a plan of action if this didnt help her. No other tests or treatment were given as she didnt necessarily need more at that time. My husband was very happy with the staff and the service we received. Very happily, our dog recovered as predicted. We are grateful for the care that she, and we, received! Based on this experience, Id be very comfortable recommending Lakeshore to any pet owner!

They stated that they offered to give him a smaller cast but that they’d have to sedate frank for it. That was never an option. They never offered that. They said they’d only seats him if it was an emergency. Now there $118 just gone, no refund. This was the 3rd cast for my dogs broken leg that has fallen off. I have now sunk in over $500 just in replacing cast for him, that’s not including the original visit that cost $500.

I could not be more thankful for the hard work and dedication from Dr. Casey Stepnik! (Dermatology) I have been working with her for close to 3 years with my yorkie who suffers from EXTREME allergies and all of the complications that come with it. She had never given up on trying to find what will work to get Honey to a comfortable way of life. Her every day life typical would consist of itching 95% of her day - the only time she wouldnt itch was when she was asleep and she absolutely had to wear some type of shirt otherwise she would itch herself right open. Due to Honeys allergies, she suffered from chronic ear infection in one of her ears and it was time to have her ear canal removed. I had then met with Dr. Matthew Stepnik (Surgery) to talk about moving forward with her procedure. It has been a month and a half since her procedure and this DREAM TEAM has given Honey a life she has never known before. The itching has become nearly nonexistent and she no longer has to war clothes to protect her from scratching herself. I have had nothing but amazing experiences with Lakeshore whether it be communicating with the front desk, speaking with Shelby - Dr. Casey Stepniks assistant, and clear and honest communication with the doctors. I cannot thank this clinic and its staff enough for saving my furbabys life!

We recently had to put our 19 year old tabby cat down after years of megacolon issues and developing jaundice and decided to bring her to Lakeshore after coming here with friends for other animals. The staff is absolutely wonderful they were very caring and compassionate. They took their time to check our cat out and go over every option we had and what the best course of action would be. As painful as it is putting an animal down, Lakeshore made the experience a little easier to handle and also took the time to mail out a hand written card signed by everyone giving their condolences and included 2 cards with paw prints from our beloved kitty. For anyone that needs vet services or has to do the unfortunate thing of putting an animal down I highly recommend Lakeshore they are great.

I definitely would not recommend this place. We opted to do an outpatient procedure rather than spend $2,000 to keep him overnight and not even have our cats issue resolved. They got pretty rude after that and tried to scare us into the worst possible scenario. The doctor put some pretty rude comments in the patient notes, as well. We were already feeling bad enough with our cat being sick and all- we certainly did not need a doctor trying to scare us and guilt trip us. I would never return here and Ive told everyone I know not to come here. What they did was highly unethical. We also requested they send our cats records over to the new clinic we were bringing him to and 2 days later, the clinic had STILL not received the records. Ive also spoken with other people who have had similarly awful experiences here. One even lost their cat because this place wanted to euthanize him, rather than treat. Theyre only here to make a profit- not actually help the animals.

Had an expensive and horrible time for them to not actually treat my pet. They wouldnt allow me to be with my TERRIFIED pet while we waited OVER 3 HOURS for my pet to be seen. My pet was just becoming more stressed by the minute which could have been avoided if I had been a room with my pet. When they do finally see my pet for examination they handled my pet so roughly and heartlessly. Their actions caused issues that my pet and I are still dealing with over a week later. I ended up paying these people $600 and Im not even sure what for. Nothing was done here. Everything was done at my regular vet the next day including emergency surgery. I had to have them put him down and proceeded to try and sell me end of life packages. I was able to visit with Pickles before he was put down, then had to pay three hundred and some odd dollars to have him put down. Money is all that matters at Lakeshore and the more of it the better. I do not recommend Lakeshore unless youre rich. THEN 10 minutes after paying they finally let my dog come to us and when the tech started explaining about the treatmeant and I had just made the comment “I thought they had given that to her awhile ago” he rudely told me they were super busy and lots of patients just came in... their monitor said they had 2 patients, and they’re waiting room was dead silent...From one pet owner to another I truly recommend going somewhere else or waiting to see your primary vet the next day.
