We sadly had to put our cat down in August. The vet and entire team showed us great compassion and helped us make the right decision. We were able to be with our cat as it was happening, which was important to us, as many other clinics are currently not allowing it due to Covid protocols. We did not feel rushed and we were able to say our goodbyes. We even received a hand-written card in the mail from the entire staff. Although it was a tough moment, I am glad this facility made it as easy as possible for us. Thank you from our family.
1st class staff and facility.Lets face it, you arent coming here for sunshine and roses. These folks have a difficult job and our family greatly appreciates them for how great they treated us and our loved pet.We recently received a personalized hand written sympathy card from the staff. It really made my day. It wasnt easy to say goodbye to our beloved pet, but the staff here made it as painless and smooth as possible for us and our pet.Thank you!
I had two experiences with this vet. Both sadly dealing with Euthanizing a reptile. I want to add I’m very grateful for the 24 hour service. The first experience was amazing and helped with the Grieving process a lot. They took good care of my leopard geckos body, placing her in a box and added clay paw prints and a sympathy card sent to my house. Everyone was very sweet and let me know how sorry they were. The second time (a week ago) was different, I got her body back in not the best shape ( eyes open, smell of the start of decay) which could be explained by the smell of the freezer (they have to hold onto the body for 24 hours) but I was saddened by the experience. No clay paw prints like the last, no cards. But the women who handed me her was very sweet. Mixed feelings… still amazing for the service in emergency situations.
This place treated us so well when we unfortunately had to go there to euthanize our old girl. The staff were over the top amazing and allowed me to spend as much time as needed. I received her ashes today and the box and paw prints were absolutely beautiful. Thanks again for all of your help
Far exceeded my expectations!!!. They got me in and out in 1/3 the estimated time even though they were backed up with emergency surgeries. I brought in a reptile, and they were very knowledgeable and very communicative. Super kind as well! Couldnt ask for more: thorough, educated, good communication, and good timing.
Our 1.5 year old Aussie has had 2 seizures in the last week, both after hours. We live in Swartz Creek and both times all “emergency” vets near us have told us they can’t do anything about it, find someone else. Novi Emergency was willing to take us both times (even though we only went the second time), got us in around 11 PM, with 9 patients ahead of us, and we were back home by 2 AM with medication and peace of mind knowing there was nothing abnormal in the blood work. Thank you for your knowledgeable, patient friendly, and prompt work! Wish more emergency vets in the Flint area had your dedication to animals!
I brought my hedgehog here to have her euthanized, and they made experience as easy as they could. Josh and the other staff members were so kind, and even though I couldnt be with her in her final moments I know she was with caring people. Thank you
After calling at least a dozen places to help my rabbit with a growing abscess on his jaw, I was finally able to be seen at AEC. They did an amazing job and he his happily healing up. I have also taken my dog and cat here over the years and never had any poor experiences. Even though right now they are super busy (like most vets) they are still so thorough and patient. Thank you for taking such great care of all our animals!
Called on a Saturday night and the front desk was completely honest with me that they were very backed up and offered me other options or also said I could call again later. I so much appreciated that honesty. I called back in the morning and was able to get on the wait list and get him in for his front leg pain. Everybody there was so kind and they were able to get him some pain meds so he could at least relax enough to go to sleep. He was in a great deal of pain. Thank you for seeing him. Highly recommend
This place is on a no joke policy about covid. You drop your pet off in the former lobby, in and out, then get them back through another door. Dont let a 3 hour long line deter you if that happens! These guys are amazing at their job, and dig deeper to find whats really wrong with your pets. They dont give up. We need that as pet lovers. I got my family bird back from them with proper diagnosis and medications. Little Oliver even likes the taste of the medications!Normally, you dont get a bird back after they show signs of sickness. Its a two coin toss, and both coins have to land on heads. These guys figured out that he has a yeast infection in his craw, and its a treatable condition. I had no clue that was a thing, and we thought he was dying due to environmental stressors. The vets dug deeper, and found his problem, and he is out of the danger zone 3 days later. I am thankful for their precautions to Covid, and to these healers.
Tried calling and got hung up on twice. Did not even say hello you could hear them talking to someone else as they picked the phone up and set it back down hanging up on me.
Thank you for taking care of my baby ASAP when all other ER vets were full or on 6-8 hour waits. They evaluate your baby in lobby very shortly after you pull up to decide if they need attention ASAP or are stable enough to go back to vehicle with you to wait your turn. Fair and reasonable rates, too.
Our 8 year old dog collapsed on Monday August 16, 2021. We called our vet and 20 plus other vet/hospitals. Finally Animal Emergency Center in Novi agreed to see her. When we arrived in the parking lot she was in bad shape. We called and checked in, was asked to fill out an online form, and we would be texted or called when they could see her. I explained that she was not in good shape and they had us carry her right in. Within 9 minutes of arriving in the parking lot we were called by the vet with a very comprehensive explanation of her condition. There was nothing they could for her. She had cancer they had erupted and was bleeding into her abdomen. She was running around and very happy that morning. We were allowed to come in while she was euthanized. They vet and staff could not have been more compassionate! The service they use to cremate her, had her back to us within 4 days.
No one wants to have to put there beloved dog down, the staff was helpful and compassionate with us and our dog. Even when our dog passed away before he could get hooked up they were so kind with us and helped us through the process. Thank you.
Called to see if my dog could come in for help because she is in pain. The gentlemen began telling me the process. He stated it would be $100.00 for the emergency visit and the the doctor would write up a treatment plan. I told the gentleman my dogs condition and she was going to see her vet tomorrow however, she needed pain medication immediately. He then told me that they had to many animals to see and my dog couldnt be seen. Really!! They just want your money!!!Dr. Heather Robertson I am writing in response to your comment. I commend you for having psyhic abilities or spending time listening to phone conversations at the receptionist desk. I am fully aware of the lack of medical care that we have faced because of Covid-19. My son is a medical doctor MD. If you have any more need to correspond to continue to address this issue, you or your establishment can contact my attorney. However, your previous negative reviews say enough. Have a blessed day.
Over the years I have taken many animals to AEC and have always been happy with the treatment my pets have received. The staff is knowledgeable, professional and compassionate. They have a tough job full of stress and sometimes owners who are horrible to deal with and I applaud them for the job they do!
The most unhelpful experience i have ever had. While going through labor with my Yorkipoo, i was referred to this animal hospital by my vet. When my dog showed signs of labor, i called and was met on the phone with someone named Michelle. She was very rude and unfriendly and it seemed like i was interrupting her day by calling about my animal. When describing what was going on to her, she said “that’s normal, just wait it out until about 7 am.” i had 3 different conversations with her and she continued to say the same thing. While waiting so long according to her advice, we lost one of our puppies. When i called back to inform of what was going on she says “well i mean i guess you could come up here but that’s gonna cost you like $4000.” Very unprofessional, it seemed like she really didn’t care. What kind of place is this? Side note it was so convenient when i called back up after 7, Michelle wasn’t there. I felt like she was just trying to get me off of the phone so she didn’t have to deal with me until she got off. The person i talked to after that was so nice.
The lady was nice but I waited 6 hours. And they are still making you wait in your car even though covid restrictions have been lifted. They also kept telling me I was next and I was never next.
My cat, Ruby, was taken here after being severely injured from a hit and run. It was devastating to lose a pet Ive had for 11 years. This place went above and beyond anything I couldve imagined. They werent able to save her, but, they did make her passing more comforting by arranging a cremation and even mailing me a card with deepest sympathies. Im so grateful my beautiful Ruby was taken here and for all the love she was shown before she passed. Thank you, Wendy, Becky, and Dr. Chronowski for all youve done!
I cannot speak highly enough of everyone at the Novi emergency center. I unfortunately have been there more than I would like but every single time they have provided my dog with exceptional care. My 10 year border collie has had to have multiple emergency surgical procedures at the Novi location and I would never take her elsewhere. They truly all treat the animals as if they were there own and make you feel safe leaving them in their care. There was even a technician who came into work on his day off to just to check on my sweet Belle and take her for her walk because he cared so much about her recovery. Thank you for all that you do and saving our girls life numerous times now. I will be forever grateful.
Not sure why they still have COVID protocols. It’s highly unsettling when you bring your pet in with a serious illness and you have to wait for a phone call from a rude doctor with zero bed side manner. You need to relax these COVID protocols so people can come into the facility and see their pets and receive face to face consultation.
DO NOT RECOMMEND!! This place charged me $720.00 for a diagnostic, X-rays, Blood Work, Pain Killers and my kitty ended up dying 4 days later from internal bleeding - something that they told me that he did not have. If you value your pet/companion, please try really hard to NOT go here. First, the lady told me to DUMP my kitty into a cardboard box (use better words lady). I was told that I had to sit in my car and wait so I have no clue/idea what test was actually ran or if they even diagnose him at all. They said he needed to see an Orthopedic Doctor and I found THREE, all of whom told me that I needed to see a Neurological Doctor as he may be suffering from a tail pull injury which may be affecting his nerve causing him to be in pain - (all the while, he is bleeding out inside). I spent an entire day trying to find an Orthopedic doctor who will see me, only to find out that he didnt need to see one. X-rays and Blood Work were allegedly normal but by the time I got him to a neurologist, he died of internal bleeding, smh. I have so many questions.
I had to take my sick hedgehog barb there and they ended up having to put her down. They made the experience so much better and they even sent us a card with little notes on it from the staff. Sending my love to these amazing people.
Came out early in the morning signed in they left me sitting outside for 4 hrs I watched many people pull up after me and placed in front of me and left a long time and I still wasn’t seen my Chinese Water Dragon died in the car 💔they didn’t see my situation as an emergency apparently I wish I had the power to press charges and fire everyone who was scheduled to! Plz don’t not take your animals to them. I could tell you why the other folks rated high but we not even going to go into that R.I.P Zoe
WILL NOT SEE FERRETS. Would give negative stars if possible. We had a ferret emergency and every single exotic vet from Toledo to Canton was not able to see him. And all of them told us to go to Novi. When we called Novi, they straight up said without compassion they wont see ferrets now because they can carry Covid. How terrible and devastating when a desperate ferret owner has NOWHERE ELSE TO GO. They really need to let other exotic vets know theyre doing this so the vets arent giving ferret owners false hope. Why arent your workers vaccinated so they dont have to worry? Veterinary work is a form of healthcare and you cant just exclude a species from treatment. We ended up getting a late appointment at Emergency Veterinary Hospital in Ann Arbor on Jackson Road and they were fabulous.
My 8 year old dog (Tapi) was diagnosed with pancreatitis. He was admitted overnight, treated and sent home the next day with medications. Tapi went into excruciating pain within 5 days, had to take him back to AEC where they re-admitted him but due to further complications, had to be moved to a full service hospital. He passed away in two days.Sounds like there are two schools of thought in treating pancreatitis. One is to keep the pet on intravenous fluid (along with other medications) for an extended period of time, to rest the pancreas, and slowly introduce solid food. The other school of thought is to continue feeding the pet a bland diet 4-5 times a day. AEC took the latter approach.Based on Tapis prognosis, my request to AEC is to please re-visit their approach of treating pancreatitis. I think if he was kept hospitalized longer, he could have recovered out of it.The staff have been very kind and loving to my Tapi for which I will be forever grateful.
Thank you all for being so compassionate and patient with us today it means everything to me. while you had mipha inside, other michigan cattle dog owners were reassuring me that she was in good hands there. sure enough, everyone treated us so so kindly and my pupper is stable and napping at home. price quotes for surgery and overnight were low to average in my opinion, and what i paid for all the hours of service provided today was much less than expected. thank you so much.
First let me say - the Vet we spoke to was wonderful. Kind and detailed in her assessment of our dogs injuries. If it were just the vet, it would be 5 starts. However, the front office staff and support staff we dealt with left a lot to be desired. Unconcerned over my dogs injury and pain level - unconcerned with the fact that this was our first drive up experience and that our dog is very nervous without us. Overall the support staff gets one star the vet gets 5. I understand being busy and I fully support the field as I did work in it for a brief time - but common courtesy and articulation goes a long way!
Although our beloved cat Gray passed away, he was well taken care of in his last hours, and we were as well. We greatly appreciate the quality of care that was given, the knowledge and bedside manner of the veterinarian, and the kindness and compassion of all of the staff. Thank you for making a difficult time as bearable as possible.
I brought my senior cat here yesterday, as I could not get an appointment anywhere else really soon. I think that we were in denial about how her health had declined so much so quickly. This clinic was so compassionate, answered all of our questions, and were very knowledgeable. Unfortunately, we did have to make the difficult decision to put our girl, Olive, down. We were able to spend some time with her and say our goodbyes. We are, of course, still grieving; but I know that this clinic- the entire staff- did everything that they could for our girl. I would urge anyone with a pet suffering from illness to bring their pets here and take comfort in knowing that they will be cared for as if they were their own pet. I cannot thank you enough for taking care of our baby girl, and allowing us to spend time with her for one last time.
I have never been so disappointed with a Veterinarian in my life. My mom and I had to put our 14 year old dog down and picking this place was the worst decision. While waiting for our dog, we were greeted by a wonder vet tech that was very compassionate and answered all the question that my mom and I had. When Dr. Barbara McBride came in the room to preform the euthanization, she immediately started injecting my dog with the medicine without explaining to us how it was going to go. My dog was also STANDING on a table when she was injecting the medicine. When my mom showed concern that my dog was going to fall, Dr. McBride raised her voice with my mom. Not seconds later did my dog jult from the medication and he almost fell off the table. After Dr. McBride raised her voice with my mother and made my dog almost fall off the table while he was being put to sleep, she then proceeded to ask us if we wanted her to stop the injection. STOP THE INJECTION THATS ALREADY IN HIS BLOODSTREAM? I will never understand. All I would like to say to Dr. McBride is shame on you for making this experience for not only my dog but my family 100x worse. I DO NOT recommend Dr. McBride to anyone who is looking for animal care. As for the office staff, they were very wonderful and caring of our situation.
I called tonight because I was frantic thinking I had an emergency with my cat. I dont know which vet I spoke with but I love you vet Lady!!! You were very accurate and put our whole family at ease. Big kitty is doing alright and thank you so much!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Absolutely amazing, we came in around 1:30 in the morning for our senior German Shepherd with a bloated abdomen which we thought was flipped stomach. Fortunately that wasn’t the case and we are happy and healthy on the way home! Amazing customer service and price is decent, was $100 dollars to examine him (for anyone needing a price) handled him with great care as well! So thankful, we walked in thinking we were going to loose our baby...thank you so so much for y’all’s help!..Side note our truck died in the parking lot and the receptionist/tech was kind enough to give us a jump. Thank you!
Our beloved dog Callie became ill on a Saturday and our vet recommended taking her AEC!. The doctor and staff were fantastic..... Callie was taken care of and so were we. They were compassionate and understanding during what was a devastating time for our family. Even though we ended up saying goodbye to our 12 year old Callie they made it peaceful and a lot less stressful then it could have been.... the staff sent us a card personalized by all staff which was a nice personal touch... thank you AEC for helping us say goodbye to our Callie...
I want to thank the staff at AEC for caring for Loki the best they could in his condition. I also want to say that they were not only very professional but very sympathetic. My family and I appreciate them tremendously.
I am so very impressed with this hospital. The technicians, receptionists, and doctors were absolutely incredible with my tortoise. They made sure the proper care was given every step of the way. My tortoise is a rare species that they had little experience treating, so they took safe approaches to make sure his eye infection was cleared up. Thank you so much AEC!
Im sorry but dont go here for any reptile. I had a berded dragon that was almost 1 years old. It wasnt wanting to move in the cage so we took it here and we waited for hours in a car in the middle of winter. That berded dragon died in my hands. A few months later my mom got me another berded dragon. This one got to the 1 year market and the got mouth rot so we took him in and again we waited for like 2 hours and and his eyes closed and rigamotis was starting to kick I. Than someone came out and was like oh know what ever happened to it they took him in and took him in and said that he can recover and will be fine but only for $3500 or we pull the plug. Again my boi Dexter died in my arms.....
I thought I would have to wait long for my bird but it actually wasn’t too long of a wait. Once my bird was inside, she was seen within 30 minutes and the price wasn’t that bad. It was actually pretty good for an emergency visit that covered costs of being seen and for a week’s worth of antibiotics. My bird recovered and is doing great. Highly recommend the avian vet here. However, I had a horrible experience with the Rochester location before that. Never take your pet there. Expect them to tell you to go but wait 4-5 hours, and then have them tell you your pet won’t be seen at all even though they’re open 24 hours. Take the time to drive to Novi, it’s worth it.
Had to visit this location because our dog lost an entire nail while playing and bleeding quite a bit. Thank you to the staff (wish I could remember their names, I think Wendy and maybe Kristin?) for being very friendly, helpful and patient during our emergency. At arrival, they were very informative of what would happen next, what they believed the issue could be and how they think they will fix it. Once our dog was seen and treated, they called us back with next steps, what to expect and what to do if anything got worse. They wrote instructions down for us and gave ample time for questions. In a situation of anxiety, we are thankful for their friendliness and attention to detail for both our dog and us owners. Most importantly took good care of our dog and was able to get him back to us recovered and happy. We unfortunately were unable to go into the building with our dog, however they contacted us several times to give us timely updates as we waited.Thank you much to the staff on Jan 10th!
Animal Emergency Care has been there for our family, helping us with 2 cats and a guinea pig during those off-vet hours emergency times. They were with us all the way through the hard times when we lost our kitties, and provided great care not only to our pets but to our family as well. We will forever thank you for all that you have done for us in the past and will always count on your services in those emergency times.
I brought my 5 month old parakeet here due to breathing problems. We received the best care! My parakeets name is candy and they put him on breathing treatments, oxygen, and gave him some antibiotics. We were also given take home syrup antibiotics, and the instructions were very clear and understandable. I was in touch with them all throughout the day and even at night as late as 10pm. The vet taking care of him even called me to give me updates which was very nice. I felt completely comfortable with candy being in their hands. The process was very well organized and all the people I talked to were very polite and made me feel at ease. I have four parakeets total and will definitely bring them here if there is ever another emergency health scare.
Not all Vets here are created equal, have had great experiences and terrible ones. Most recently took my dog in over the weekend and now she appears to have developed kennel cough. She is never anywhere near other dogs where she may have picked this up other then her trip to AEC. So besides needing to go to the emergency center in the first place now she can try to get better from her original ailments while having kennel cough on top of it. Thanks.
I brought my baby in today and was very comforted by how kindly she was received. The blond woman who checked her in was LOVELY. My 2 yr old pup Winnie is less than three lbs and was passing blood and was unable to walk properly because she was so under the weather. I was called quickly by the tech & the doctor. They ran tests and in about an hour called back w a plan. She got fluids and medications. Everyone was so kind and clear. A few hours later she is home and on the mend. It wasnt cheap but reasonable for a pet ER. This same practice was also wonderful when my aunt rescued and had to pull-down a critically injured kitten from negligent owners earlier this year. Highly recommended. Winnie is shy and could not have felt more comfortable with how she was taken care of. Thank you.
If I could give this place zero stars I would. Not only did they sedate my cat without mine or my significant others consent, verbally or physically, my cat also hasnt been the same since we got him home a week ago. Hes actually worse now than what he was before taking him here. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
Great customer service. Fritz thanks you.
I took my dog here about a week ago. All the staff were very friendly and listened to our concerns. The vet was very thorough in her examination of him and gave us several options for treatment. They rehydrated him and got him perked up and hungry for food again. He is generally not very happy going to the vet, but they were all so friendly he wasnt as afraid. Yes the appointment was long and it wasnt cheap, but he was very well taken care of and over the next few days returned to himself with the medications they prescribed. The vet also reassured us that if he were to go downhill within the next 24 hours and needed to come back we wouldnt be charged another examination fee. They called to check up on him the next day. It was all around a positive experience, even though we were very worried for our dog.
The wait is ridiculous. Called ahead of time and still am waiting 3 hrs+ for my dog to be seen. Smh so much for emergency care. Unfortunately it’s Sunday and no one else is open in the area bc I definitely would be taking my service else where. Been sitting here for more than 3 hrs and suddenly I’m the next person to be seen but someone got in front of me. Anything could’ve happened during this timeframe, My dog could’ve passed away. If I were you I would definitely go somewhere else in Novi to get my animal looked at
Thank you AEC for saving my 5 month old pup after he ate two socks that were lodged in his stomach. I was very pleased with the process and the kindness/honesty with their staff. I would highly recommend AEC for any emergency that your animal may have.
I had brought in my rat today who had a stroke over night and the staff was very helpful and very kind about things. The prices they threw at me to get her x-rays was $300 so they are expensive but I was also given other options. I ended up having to put her down but I just wanted to give a huge thanks to Josh who was very patient and kind with me and understanding the loss of a pet. I appreciate the kindness you brought to me today.
Very poor services and staff. I wont go there ever again.
We live about 2 hours from this location. It was the only vet open that could see our breaded dragon, and we were afraid he was dying from something. We rushed there to try to save him, and were told nothing other than he is dying. no diagnosis, no treatment, nothing. They asked virtually no questions of us other than payment, and literally held our dying pet hostage until payment was made. They then handed him back uncovered and cold. He died peacefully held by people who loved him, zero thanks to this hospital. If you love your pet, go ANYWHERE else.
I am extremely displeased by the reception staff. I have a 12yr old sugar glider who was unable to be seen within a week by any local exotic vets. I was directed to Novi AEC, due to the fact that gliders go downhill extremely fast and early care is essential. I called and spoke with Receptionist 1 and explained my situation. She verified that there was an experienced glider vet on staff. After inquiring, she also informed that there was at least a 2/3hr wait. So I drove from Waterford to Novi. After checking in, Receptionist 2 called to inform me that since my gliders lump had not ruptured, there was nothing that could be done. She suggested waiting the week to see my primary vet. I asked why I had not been told that by phone, at which point she replied that Receptionist 1 had told me that. This was completely incorrect as I would not have driven that far for naught. The rest of the conversation consisted of me insisting that I wanted my glider to be seen despite her saying nothing could be done (sight unseen). I am currently waiting to be seen. Hopefully my interaction with the doctor will be more positive than that with the reception staff.*Edit* The Dr. was able to help my glider. She was very pleasant and caring and took her time in explaining what was going on. I would bring my pets back. However, Receptionist 2 would greatly benefit from customer service training, as all of my interactions with her were terrible. Someone in such a position needs to have a much higher level of sensitivity.
My 4month old sulcata tortoise cracked his shell so I took him here on Sunday Aug 30th. They were quick to get him in and stayed in contact the whole time. The doctor who fixes shells was not in till Monday the 31st at 2pm. They charged me for the emergency visited and I took him home. Which was fine. I went in the next day with him moving around and energetic and waited several hours to get him in. They took him back and told me he needed this and that. I trusted them. They sedated him and repaired his shell. When I got him back the dr said they couldn’t get him fully back from sedation so they said to let him sleep it off. He was hardly moving when I got him home. I woke up this morning on September 1st and he was dead. I spent over $300 for them to kill my tortoise. I called them and all they said was sorry.
AECs staff is so compassionate and sweet. My rat Gregg was past his time, and AEC allowed my fiancé and me to say our goodbyes in person during COVID, which was a huge relief to both of us.Every staff member we saw went out of their way to say theyre sorry for our loss, and he was returned to us looking very peaceful and with a heart drawn on his box.Having a pet pass is never easy, but knowing Gregg was in good hands before he left makes a big difference.
These people are horrible. If I could give zero stars I would because they essentially robbed my family of $100 just to tell us there was nothing they could do for our pet. They called us inhumane because instead of leaving our baby that we loved there for a day to die alone somewhere he doesn’t know we wanted to take him home because even if it was slower at least he would be with us, he was a very beloved pet and these people robbed us and wanted him to die alone in an unfamiliar setting. But that makes us the monsters for wanting to hold him and love on him until he passed. That’s in humane. I hope you people know how truly awful you are.
I was here a year ago with a cat that was dehydrated, and two months ago with a rabbit in stasis. Both times they were kind, helpful, professional and knowledgable. Took great care of both pets. Didnt make me feel any pressure to do extra tests, etc. When I said no thanks to hospitalizing my rabbit, I wasnt guilted or anything. Will definitely keep going here when my pets need help quickly.
This is my second bad experience with this Emergency Vet. The first time I had to leave and take my dog to another hospital that was more proactive about their emergency needs. Yet I still had to pay THIS vet a fee when they looked at my dog for a whole 5 minutes. I frantically had to pay and take her to a better facility. This time we were waiting for almost 2 hours, while other clients were taken ahead of us (with what they considered more serious issues). I called the clinic and was told at a MINIMUM it would be another hour. You cannot leave and be called back or you will lose your place in line. They will not call and give you a 15 minute window. They intend on people and their pets to wait in the cold for hours. If more urgent cases come you will wait and wait. No matter your place in line or how long you have been there. Not sure how long they plan on having (what the staff deems) non critical pets (who havent had any staff member see them in person), that are still in destress, wait to be seen.I do understand critical cases arise but other pets should not be expected to wait indefinitely. They should be put on a list and called in or be seen in a reasonable amount of time.In response to AECs response...I am not required to use my full legal name on a google review. My bunny, whom your staff deemed Not Critical DIED.A veterinarian professional should know how serious the issue ( I explained over the phone) IS in a rabbit. Rabbits are fragile and easily die from the symptoms I explained to your staff. Yet they took a dog in who was NOT waiting before me because it had breathing problems. Yet I saw the owner walking the small dog (which could have easily been held if it were actually in dire destress) around before entering. My pet could have possibly been saved if looked at in a timely manner. Well never know. To your staff he wasnt critical. Perhaps you should have a better person doing the phone assessments. Staffing to meet the needs of patients is also important in a medical facility. EMERGENCY room wait time should not be 3 HOURS.
Not cheap, but then, round-the-clock veterinary care never is. Our 18-y/o retired alley cat, Storm, spent 3 days in AEC’s care due to kidney issues. In that time, we never talked to the same person twice, but everyone we talked to was great. Friendly, professional, well-organized staff that called when they said they would, answered any questions we had, and gave our little buddy good quality care. We’ve had animals in emergency/24-hr care before so we have a sound basis for comparison. Things like this always hurt the pocket, and results are never guaranteed; but at least AEC provides the level of care, compassion, and service one would hope to receive for the money spent for their pet in need. Highly recommend.UPDATE: its been nearly a year since our emergency visit and Storm is still going strong, maintaining good quality of life. Weve been thankful for all the extra days weve been able to have with him. Thanks AEC.
When my puppy passed yesterday I was lost on next steps and beyond upset. Gabby was unbelievable sweet and helpful in getting us and my little buddy taken care of with undertsanding, empathy, smoothness, and timeliness. It cant be easy taking a phone call from a crying mom and hearing this news, but she handled herself extremely well and provided myself and my family with all the information we needed. This place was an hour away and I will drive there again if I have any needs in the future based on the incredibly positive experience I had. Thank you Gabby and to the entire staff there. You are all rockstars to me ❤
Huge thank you to the doctors & staff here for saving our dogs life after he developed GDV (bloat). The staff worked hard and quickly to save his life and kept us very informed the entire time. Our dog was very comfortable there and loved giving the staff kisses. Not enough good things to say. Thank you guys from the bottom of our hearts.
My cat got out & after 4 days was returned. She had dehydration, burn wounds, & even frostbite! Everyone was truly amazing & took the greatest care of my Sweetheart. She recovered just wonderfully! Fast & caring best of all.. effective staff. I definitely give them a 6 out of 5 in Our experience ♡
Worst Vet EVER!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE! Their prices are ridiculously exorbitant and the staff is rude. We took our dog in because he was vomiting and they milked us for every penny they could squeeze out of us. They quoted me $160... and an hour later gave us a bill of $680 and told us our dog was fine!! Well NEVER go here again, save your money and avoid these thieves.
I brought my 8 week old kitten to them. They did tests and discovered she had major birth defects. They contacted surgical specialist to see about doing surgery on her. My baby weighted less than a pound due to her birth defects and the cost of specialty surgery and the chance of her surviving was slim after talking to the specialists. We made the hard decision it was best to euthnise our baby. Through the whole process everyone from the vet to the techs were amazing and so caring. I would highly recommend them. And a couple years back they did an emergency surgery on my dog Chopper when he had a cyst rupture before my family vet could get him in. Twice my dog got ahold of squirrels and I brought them there and they even try saving wild life and partner with Howell nature center when it comes to wild life. Every experience Ive had with them has been amazing. I cant say enough good things about them. They have a caring part of the family attitude towards your family and pets. Highly recommend them!
DO not go there my bird had an egg stuck to her they told me that she will be 100 percent FINE we paid $500 and the next day she died they took my money they did help her but they told us that she would be 100 percent fine I have called to try to get some money back but they said they can’t do anything that is just so wrong
Horrible i drove long way to get here with my ferret hurt to just get turned away they dont see exotic animals they wouldnt help at all
I would confidently take our pets to AEC, recommend them without reservation, and absolutely trust the owner Dr. Robertsons leadership, her team, and her standards of veterinary care.
Was there last week with my dog Nala.. they are great people.. even tho my dog was put to sleep... they even send me a sympathy card.. not many do that.. so thank you for everything.. I know where I can go now when my pet has an emergency... best place ever!!!
I highly recommend AEC of Novi for all your pet needs. Cooper and Dr Hughes were very caring and help me thru a difficult time. Thank you so much.
Words cannot describe how thankful I am for AEC’s 24 hours emergency vet service on Friday night my shih tzu was attacked by another larger dog that led to my baby needing emergency surgery to remove his eye unfortunately they had 20 patients in front of him so we went to another emergency vet who then told us they did not have doctors available to preform emergency surgery due to covid, they sent us straight to AEC who brought him in immediately and were extremely helpful and kept me updated every few hours throughout the night on his recovery when I had picked him up after surgery he was wagging his tail so excited to see me they even replaced his Christmas bandana with a Valentine’s Day one. Thank you so much for your amazing staff I don’t know what I would have done without you guys!
This the go-to ER for animals in our area. Caring. Helpful. Hard-working. Second to none.
The staff couldnt not have been more wonderful with my terminally ill cat. I was allowed all the time I needed before and after he took his last breath.
4 most part, the kinda ok, but most time thr rude n nasty on phone, get smart mouthed and rude, not mention talk back 2 customer! 4 sevice oriented place, lady owner, yall need stop being snotty, rude and disrespectful 2 customers! Money talks n money walks!
We had to make the difficult decision to say goodbye to one of our dogs, and even with the complexity of COVID and trying to maintain social distance, as well as their higher than normal demand due to other vets being temporarily closed, they showed us the utmost compassion, patience, and care explaining everything we would experience, and allowing us all the time we needed with our pet. I cant thank the staff enough for what theyre going through in this crazy time but still being there for us to make the process as easy as it could be.
My first time ever using an emergency vet. My bulldog Shelby needed to be seen quickly. They got her in very quickly and they had a packed parking lot. A phone call every step of the way to keep me updated. Home now, resting. Thank you AEC
Five stars! I have been here three times and each time I’m impressed with the staff and the service. Recently, we had to bring our pet rat to be put down and a week later we received a sympathy card with hand written notes from each member of the staff. Just above and beyond. Thanks again.
Got us right in and had my dog looked at within minutes, saved his life they are heart specialists and the price was unbelievably fair my heart goes out to them..thank you,I hope others are as fortunate as us
We ended up here tonight with a weird and scary situation with my kitten, and we received wonderful care quickly, professionally, and with so much kindness. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to Gail, Edi, and Dr. Krieger for taking care of my Gus and putting my mind at ease. Veterinary emergency care is always expensive, but having such an excellent team of professionals available late at night no matter what is priceless. I can’t thank you enough for all you do. Highly recommend to anyone and everyone!
I recently took my beloved cat there and I truly feel like they went above and beyond to care for him and help him make a healthy recovery. They were compassionate and attentive to my baby and I am very thankful for the work they did.
Fantastic emergency care from everyone in the office. Friendly, knowledgeable, and kind. We would not hesitate to use AEC for future emergencies.
I dont know why, but Ive called 2 or 3 times before including today, with conversation about my cats & each time Ive been discouraged from taking my cat(s) there. Its going to be a 2 hrs wait, were really busy, it doesnt seem to be something that cant wait for you to call your regular vet. Seems strange a business would chase away a chance to make money.
Showed up between 6-630 am with my injured cat and nobody could answer door so I called and they said their doctor wasn’t in at A 24/7 EMERGENCY VET
Thank you so much for helping and taking good care of my cat Sasha ❤ every single person I spoke to was so kind. Sasha is doing great, thank you again! I will definitely tell everyone what a wonderful job you all did in saving my baby.
If I could have rated this place a zero I would have. I was there trying to make a difficult decision about my pet. They took him at the door and whisked him away without letting me say goodbye before he was examined. The “doctor” couldn’t even be bothered to answer any of my questions. I was basically hung up on after every question I had and had to call back to ask the remainder. Then Jamie, the vet tech, told me that I “have already taken up enough of her time”. The disrespect and lack of compassion was absolutely out of this world. All they cared about was taking my money and making me go away. Do not bring your pet here if you want people who actually give a darn to treat them.
Thank you AEC for saving my pet rat Skittles!! I was terrified she would pass away when I heard she had pneumonia but you all saved her with your care. Thank you Dr. Chronowski for taking such good care of her. She’s not out of the woods yet but she is almost back to herself. I can’t thank you enough. Your staff and doctors are amazing. I hope Skittles doesn’t have to return but if she becomes ill again I will bring her back for your amazing care. Thank you again!!!
We had a really really really horrible experience with our dog she and I got attacked by a German Shepherd and Lansing didnt have anywhere for us to go to and they we got connected with Novi and they were just fantastic. they were superb on the phone when we first connected with them and then an hour later when we got there they were superb and dealing with our dog who is doing great now.
I waited 3 hours to not be serviced. Was told I was next in line and had a couple people go ahead of me even when they showed up after me. My next in line was also an extra hour, in which the staff was able to have their food delivered. So I am very confused with the professionalism or lack thereof. The person who “checked” me in barely looked at my dog who was bleeding from his neck after being attacked. Luckily, the bleeding has stopped. No supervisor on site when I asked to speak to one, which confuses me as to why there would be no supervisor at an emergency hospital.
I understand it is an ER and more serious cases come 1st, but I checked in with my dog at the parking lot at 9:30am and sat in the car (covid) for 2 hours and 5 minutes, no one came out or called updating on the wait so I left, They called me 50 min. later (2 hour and 55 min total) at work saying they were ready for me thinking I waited 3 hours . All I ask for is a little update on the wait and someone to set eyes on my dog for 30 sec. to judge how serious she is. Oh well
I’m going to preface my review by saying my pet’s situation was not a life or death situation. The review below mine is heartbreaking and my heart goes out to the reviewer and their family. My boyfriend and I brought our cat here after observing that he was not eating and was acting off/sick. Due to past incidents with pets I was concerned it could be serious so we searched and this was the only veterinary office nearby that would do a same-day check-up.When we arrived we waited maybe 10 minutes before they came out and got our cat. The staff we interacted with were very kind and gentle with our cat. For the official check-up, it did take awhile to hear back from them but we understood, there were multiple people waiting ahead of us and I’m sure they had animals inside that they had to monitor and care for.The veterinarian who took care of our fur babe was extremely kind (I can’t remember his name at the moment)! He was respectful and apologetic for the wait. He was understanding of our concerns and happy to answer our questions. Before doing anything he verified with us that we were on the same page and okay with it, and explained to us what he believed should be done.We were there for about 3 hours in total, longer than most vet visits but I completely understand. Between the pandemic and already being an emergency vet office I don’t think anyone can criticize them for the wait time unless your animal is in dire need of attention at that moment. The price was also a bit expensive and not what I was expecting to pay today, but to know my cat is healthy and okay is invaluable. It’s a same-day veterinary office and test results are almost instant. So I can’t complain over the price either. Overall I am very content with my experience. Thank you to the staff and veterinarian working for checking that our Buddy was healthy!
Everyone was so nice and calming. I was very upset about my pets injury and it was scary not being able to accompany my dog due to COVID safety rules but the entire staff put me at ease and were so nice. I appreciated their kindness more than I can express.
The staff sent a card acknowledging the loss of our pet. There were handwritten notes that my son a new reader was able to read and felt so glad that his beloved pet was cared for by the animal “Drs”. This little “thing” meant a lot to us.
Very unpleasant experience. Had our dog there for eye problem. Problem got worth after first visit and have to go in for a second. Got 2 different diagnosis 2 days apart and I was charged for both times. Called to discuss a reasonable solution for the mis-diagnosis and they refuse to refund anything.Update: What Dr. Robertson mentioned in the reply is simply not the truth. We talked on the phone and she wont believe what we experienced and just mentioned that she stand behind her staff. I hope the emergency center owner and management spend more time actually working on improving patient experience then fixing PR issues on Google. We talked on the phone twice and explained we were never told some test was not performed for Yoshi. All the stuff mentioned during our first visit is that Yoshi is not cooperating until they presented some treat in front of him. And they recommended us to do the same when trying to give him the eye drop at home. Weve been told that all Yoshi had is some allergy. Our point is we should be clearly informed about what was not done at the visit and what other issues Yoshi might be facing while we are there for the first visit. Instead of explaining to us what could have causes the issues Yoshi have during the second visit. They had all the information about what was used on Yoshi since the first visit and no concerns are raised until Yoshi got worse and had to go into a second visit. And they can tell us now is what they guess have happened, instead of what is actually happening with test results as proof. Whats the point of going to a hospital if all we are provided are guesses with no test results.Very disappointed!
I had to take my cat to this place a little over a month ago to be put down as he suddenly developed a blood clot and couldnt move his back legs anymore. The veterinarian and her staff were very compassionate and even sent me a card in the mail offering their condolences.
My cat Tinker wasnt acting right Saturday night, so I took her in to the AEC. Im glad I did. The signs she presented with wouldnt have been concerning in most cats, but they werent normal for Tinker. The staff who cared for her listened to what I had to say and were able to to find an underlying medical issue that would not have been spotted otherwise. Dr. Oates and Jacqui were so patient and kind during intake and on Sunday, Dr. T and Courtney took the time to explain what the prognosis and next steps were for Tinker in a way that helped me feel much more capable of making an informed decision on her treatment plan. I wont hesitate to bring her in again should the need arise (although hopefully it wont ).
They were able to see me very quickly after making an appointment. They saw my bird and, although I wasn’t able to pay the high price for all the recommended testing, they were able to provide some sensible treatment options for what they suspected was wrong. After 2 weeks, my bird was back to normal. They were even kind enough to do a follow up call, asking if everything was ok. I really appreciated the gesture. My only recommendation is to let customers know they can find some of product recommendations, much cheaper elsewhere.
Gave us excellent care. During COVID-19 they were able to get us in within 15 minutes and check up on our bunny who had a wound by her mouth. They said that if within 24 hours, shes not doing okay we can bring her back in with no charge. Were very low income especially with being out of jobs during cornavirus; they were able to give us a reasonable price! Great place, would recommend!! They truly care about the pets and not the money.
I can’t even put into words how incredible EVERY SINGLE PERSON was here. When going through the most painful process of putting our beloved boy to sleep every staff member was beyond loving, comforting, gentle, conscientious, kind, accommodating, and patient. I can not recommend this place enough! They made us all feel so safe and held during such a horrible time. When having to go through the horrible process of setting your animal free this IS the place to go! I would give it more than 5 stars if I could!
My 7 year old golden retriever started wheezing two nights and it was after normal vet hours so I took him to the animal emergency center in novi. They called to say his lung collapsed and they were draining the air and keeping him overnight. They called at 6am saying I could pick him up which I was shocked about because of how bad his condition was the night before. When we got there to get him they told us that he still was panting but that he seemed okay to leave. Within ten minutes of being home it was clear he hadn’t gotten any better so we got back in the car to take him to the hospital and he suffocated on the way back there. The worst part is they came outside to tell us he had passed and once we had left without waiting 5 minutes to let us mourn they called to ask how I wanted to pay for the services before I could even get on the freeway. The fact that they sent him home when he clearly was still in awful condition and then had no sympathy about his death because they were too worried about payment is appalling. Debating getting a lawyer because I paid $1600 for my dog to not get cared for. Would absolutely not recommend this hospital nor will I ever return. I wouldn’t recommend anyone else does either.
Overall I am not happy with the service.Took my bird in for a blood feather and took them over an hour to examine her, a bird can bleed about in 30 minutes from this and it took about 15 minutes to get there once we noticed she was bleeding. They never called for an update, we had to call them and they kept saying they would call soon, outside of them calling to tell us the cost which happened after about 30 minutes of her being inside. Once they examined her, total 1 hour so far, it took another hour for her to be treated, 2 hours and and 15 minutes have passed now. so we keep thinking she has died and they havent noticed. They finally call after 3 hours they call to say they are done.I have watched videos on removing blood feathers, takes all of 15 seconds to pull one out and put some powder on to help stop any bleeding from the area.If it were me instead of my bird I would rather have some discomfort and have the bleeding stopped instead of bleeding to death cause it takes forever to apply sedation and make me comfortable.
We waited over an hour with our very sick dog in our car. I called them 14 times because he was very sick and they weren’t t calling us in yet. When it finally was time, our dog ended up dying. Our vet faxed over information to them you would think they’d read it immediately and call us in. Would not recommend this place. They are in over their head!! 😡
I can not begin to tell you how compassionate the staff was here. From the minute I called to bring my dog in to Dr. Chronowski explaining the not so good news to us. They were comforting and took their time explaining the situation with outcome choices. Thank you for making a difficult time a little easier
