Say what you want about NPU, when there’s a storm and power outages, they are the best Connecticut has in restoration to its customers.
Incredibly difficult to work with. Nothing against the people, but the company itself is very hard to work with. Every time I have had issues and had to call I would receive what I thought was helpful information but then received contradicting information when speaking with a different individual. Ive never had two people tell me the same thing and have now had to deal with it for 4 years so it can be quite frustrating.
I cannot say enough good things about the NPU service and staff. Hearing horror stories about other companies in CT during the last few outtages made me even more appreciative of my company! I remember way back...never once lost power during hurricane Irene; only temporarily after the storm so they could work safely on downed lines. They had our street back on the grid in less than 3hrs! Keep up the great work!

One of the best Con Artist I have had the pleasure to deal with. They lie and cheat anyone they can to get as much money as they can from people that only need a week longer to pay a bill. We had to pay a 900 dollar bill just to be almost shut off a week later due to a 100 bill that according to there bills wasnt due till the following week
As a landlord, we get the short end of every stick they can hit us with. To turn on power and gas in a particular unit, I was just told that it will be an $800 security deposit which I will not get back until I sell the property. I was also informed that if I was ANY other person on the planet that the security deposit for this same unit would be $132 and this would be returned when the electricity and gas are put into somebody elses name. The fact that I have 7 other accounts with them ( all in very good standing) means nothing. The field workers are great but NPUs policies are VERY discriminating against landlords.
We have owned our home in Norwich for 5 years and I can say with out a doubt that the utilities services provided by NPU are the best I have ever experienced and I have lived all over the country. Everything on one simple bill, with better than average rates and quick response times during outages that were weeks better than surrounding counties during major storms.
You can’t even use the drop box for bills due that day. My bill was due yesterday and I worked until 4:30 so by the time I got there they were closed so I used the drop box. I call this morning to be sure they got my payment only to find out it’s still considered late. So what’s the point of a drop box????
Terrible. Ive never had a utility company fail to ever send me a bill, but thats what NU did. They also send shutoff notices every month, even though the online account says were paid. Ive tried to fix both of these problems several times and have been told they would be resolved but the shutoff notices keep coming and the bills never do.
Im moving to norwich never been a customer never lived in Norwich had eversourse for many years. All new customers of Norwich have to pay a 3 month deposit. So I have to pay 750$ just to get my lights on,we do it with everyone in the last year she told me. Well let me tell you this should be illegal your the only power company in Norwich u turn peoples power off when they dont pay one month of a bill, so why the F do u need a 3 month deposit. These people are crooks and they got there paying customers by the balls, they know they can get away with it because they are the only power company in norwich. If I dont pay my bill u shut me off its not like I can call someone else and Im not going to sit in my house with no power, so why again the 3 months!! A shame I have three small children just paid almost 4 grand on my place to move in and now almost 800$ to have my power on. I will never live in norwich again, if I knew this I would have never bought a place there. This should not be allowed to do to people. Eversourse is a wonderful company they understand that CT is expensive to live and they dont try to get rich on new customers. 3 month deposit is a joke and they should be ashamed of themselves to do that to people!! Ive heard nothing good about these people, TAKE MY ADVICE DONT MOVE TO NORWICH!!!!!
P.O.S company. Turning power off on a Friday right after people are coming home from work and cooking dinner. Why? To put in a new pole. Considering power was working fine all day. You couldnt have fixed it in the morning? 6:30 pm to now 12am and still no power. In addition to wasting a Friday I look forward to throwing out all my refrigerated food.Learn to schedule your regular projects when youre not inconveniencing your customers at the start of their weekend and while were preparing dinner for our families. A**holes.
After the recent power outage. I sent a message to find out when I could expect the power to be restored. I received a prompt reply, and service was restored when they said it would be.
Worst utility company with whom I have ever dealt. Lazy employees seem to spend more time finding reasons not to do anything than they do working. They should have been sold off to a real utility long ago.
Really upset. Nothing to do with billing. My water was shut off last month. I called & they said it was an accident. My water line is shared with someone else. Same thing happens again. I don’t understand it at all.
Services were excellent here in every area. Friendly staff and prompt customer service.
How can they Norwich Public Utilities even stay in open for business no wonder they shutting off people even for just $200.00, because they are in bad need of money in this state and the customer service employees ugghhh rudely disgusting atitudes. How can I explain it?, its so disappointing... Are they there to help customers or are they there just to get a weekly or semi weekly pay and go home. I am contacting the better business bureau and consumer affairs on this company. Someone must do something to get the proper respect and customer service people deserve.
NPU has always been courteous and professional. They respond to routine requests in a timely manner.

Norwich public utilities is crooked to the core, their policies are harmful to local owners, but very beneficial to the workers and brass, who get all expenses paid trips to the kentucky derby on the tax payers they are the sole reason why property prices in Norwich are so depressed

NPU workers will sometimes tell you one thing and you will call back and hear another thing. Also, they are heartless jerks who dont care at all about people. They wont work with you, just because someone has a big bill it dont mean they shouldnt have help or extended time too. My husband is on a nebulizer machine & we cant find a dr in time to sign it again & he is an elder on Disability. NPU wont work with us at all, not even giving us extended time. Also, they put an amount on the shut off notice & say a higher amount on the phone. I am so reporting these morons, who i know have been scamming others as they have complaints about their bills too!!!!! Like how do we owe so much already?!!!! WOW SMFDH

NPU is a complete rip off!!! My bill for one month is 287 and change. I havent been in my apartment in 3 plus weeks my electricity has been turned down to 60. This is a complete and total SCAM!!!!!
