I cannot say enough about what these guys did for me. I brought them my baby a 1963 Corvair Spyder for a transmission rebuild. Due to a number of issues that the car had once we took it apart they were willing to tackle it ALL without blinking an eye! My car was there for almost 3 months while I searched the country for parts and they patiently worked with me to get the correct parts(sometimes it took a few do overs) and just kept hanging in there with me. I would have thrown me out after this repair started to drag on but they kept working with me until it was right! All the while they were vigilant about making sure my baby was well protected and when it was finally returned it was driving the best it has in decades and did not have a single ding on it! Ed, the manager was as patient as a saint with me and kept me apprised of the progress and failures, and Curt was the most talented mechanic I have worked with in quite some time! My show car is back to good running and shifting health thanks to these guys. This shop is a sleeper for anyone who owns a car they really care about! I have a 99 Dodge Ram Cummins diesel I am pretty much my own mechanic on it after my transmission went I made an attempt to fix it myself but failed. my transmission went because a bad advice given to me by Pauls Transmission in Hingham Massachusetts I called like 30 different transmission shops and a lot of people had their prices high and didnt really seemed to know what they were talking about. after talking to this guy for 10 minutes I could tell he was a good man and was giving me good advice and he knew a thing or two. I ended up not going with him and going with Everetts transmission only because I live in Dorchester and hes in Northampton I would definitely recommend this guy and his shop

The difference and professionalism is notable from the get go. Honest, good prices, very professional, fast and accurate. They inform you of everything they find and how to fix it better. Do not look anywhere else when it comes to transmission work. Brought my 15 Subaru Legacy 3.6R for a transmission diagnostic a few weeks ago They were super helpful and straight to the point when it came to the scope of work and price. With that being said I decided to bring the work to them when it came time to replace my transmission. Throughout the whole working process they were very communicative and always kept me up to date on where they were in the service and gave an accurate timeline as to when the work will be done. The overarching qualities I have appreciated about Northampton Transmission is the professionalism, duty, and sense of responsibility they take toward your vehicle when you bring it to them. They rebuilt my transmission and offered a guarantee on their work. Some time later, I was having a problem with the vehicle and brought it back to them. They worked on a thorough diagnosis for free and discovered that fixing the work fell under their warranty. They graciously gave me their diagnosis, labor, and parts for free; in my opinion, the honor they had for their previous commitments and attention to detail they paid can not be replicated by the competition.

Quick turnaround​, they were able to diagnose and fix my transmission leaks on the first visit. The guys were very clear at walking me through the repairs needed and explaining the options. Prices were reasonable and wound up being exactly as I was quoted. They even brought my car in after a week so the could ensure the repairs they made held up. I will definitely keep their number in my contacts for whenever I need my car service again.

Ed and the team at Northampton transmission exceeded every one of my expectations, precise quoting, courteous communications and excellent work! They went out of their way to explain the work and checked in when extra work was required before completing it. Overall they were honest and a pleasure to deal with.

Had work done here a few months ago now my car is completely totalled because they neglected to say that there was rust on my car that was so bad it could break. They tried to pass the blame off to an oil change place and now are trying to squeeze me for money when I could have died when my car broke because the entire wheel came off due to rust I didnt know about. I thought they were nice as well but passing blame and trying to squeeze someone for more money after they lost a couple Grand in a car is just wrong!

Not only did Northampton Transmission do a fabulous job on our sons cars transmission, but they were quick and efficient as well. Then to top that off, we owe them deep gratitude for their integrity and honesty when we almost got taken by another transmission shop. Being out of state, with our son at college, this breakdown left us dealing with unknown repair shops. Ed has tremendous integrity and wanted to be sure we got the service we needed. Honesty goes a long way in auto repair. We HIGHLY recommend Northampton Transmission.

The price they quoted was $1500 more (to rebuild my transmission) than another reputable shop who offered me a brand new transmission. the vehicle isnt paid off, so I contacted the lender and offered to surrender it. I owe these guys $160 for a tow and a diagnosis that took them TWO WEEKS! I Called Ed and asked about the hold up, and he simply said were frikken busy I told them that they could just keep the truck. my lender will give them the title. However, I received a letter stating that I have until the end of December to remove the vehicle. there is NO mechanics lien in place, yet they will not allow me to get my belongings out of the vehicle. with no lien in place, or even if there was, I am entitled to my tools, personal documents (like my passport) and a few hundred dollars worth of tools inside. this is maddening, and I plan to file suit unless they release my items to me. from what Ive read regarding laws on liens and even repossessions, your belongs have to be legally released. had Ed not acted like a child, I would have just paid him. I still have to the end of December, per the letter they sent me. until that day, I should have the right to retrieve my things. I am in the process of speaking with the police, filing a complaint with the attorney General and the better business bureau.to your response--I have already offered to pay for this, and Ed STILL WOULDNT LET ME ACCESS MY PERSONAL BELONGINGS. I HAVE, PER YOUR NOTE, UNTIL 12/31 to pay you. speaking of not being responsive--where is the return call from YOU? YOU mailed me a letter asking to call, Ed wouldnt let me speak with you. I was told youd call back. obviously you arent THAT interested in getting paid, nor are you operating within the law regarding the retention of my documents and tools. CALL ME BACK AND HAVE A CIVILIZED CONVERSATION ABOUT SOLVING THE ISSUE, JOHN. and tell your guy Ed, that when I have my vehicle towed to your facility for a same day diagnostic, he should honor his word, versus my having to call your shop after itd been there over a WEEK.

Had a torque converter replaced here. Worked with me on a bad starter which I had a warranty for from Advance Auto. 1st one was bad so they gave a chance to return it and get them a new one. Honest and easy to communicate with. Would recommend.

Bought an older car from them. It was on 03 Odyssey (which has a horrible reputation for transmission problems) in which they had rebuilt the transmission and gave me a 1 year warranty on just the transmission. 6 months later, there was a transmission problem (in a part of the transmission that was unrelated to their previous work) and they fixed it right away, no charge. Works great. I would recommend them.
