Definitely would recommend! They have an amazing staff who care so much about these animals. They have you fill out an application and recommend certain pets for you specifically. They want you and them to be happy.

Dont get me wrong, most of the people working there were incredibly nice except for one lady- I think her name was Roxy. Were new to owning a pet and we wanted to get some more insight on the cats and which ones would be a good match with us so we talked to most, if not all of the volunteers during our stay. Mostly everyone was incredibly friendly and they all gave us good advice when we asked. But this one lady got really weird- she told us that getting another cat would conflict with the 8 year old cat that our friend has been talking about giving us (who is super chill, super good with other pets, literally no issues whatsoever). Then she started trying to cause issues over the fact that i had put that i would let the cat outdoors on the application, which i explained afterwards was a misunderstanding. (Im willing to clicker train, harness train, and take an overly-high-energy cat for walks, not let them roam free in the way of danger) Everyone else was being super nice though, so we brushed it off and continued looking at the cats until we found a kitten that we absolutely fell in love with. We went back to the main room excited and eager to take in the newest member of our family, when we were told that somehow we had been denied. Turns out that the staff we initially were talking to approved us, but the lady who was acting weird went back and denied us afterwards without saying anything. We asked her why, told her were willing to change anything at all because were new to owning pets and of course we dont know everything, and her response was to shout in our faces that were inconsistent and we dont know what we want. Im sorry, but whether were good potential cat owners or not, there is no excuse for shouting at us the way she was, especially not while working. Super unprofessional. Those cats are absolute sweethearts and Im all for people adopting them, but i am 1000% not a fan of the shelter if thats how they let their staff act.

Horrible honestly. I had filled an application in hopes of getting a kitten and providing a home to an animal in need. I have a family of children all over the age of 16, a home, income and experience with cats as well as a vet. I was denied after I was told all I needed was to provide vet information. I wanted to know the reason that I was denied but I was only told that over a 100 people applied for the same cat as if that’s my business or what I was asking all I wanted was a cat. Being that I was never provided why I was denied I feel as though it was racially charged. Shame on all of you if that is true. That the color of my skin and my attire can determine my eligibility for a kitten.

I had the worst experience trying to adopt from this place. When we first walked in, the staff insisted we fill out an application to see if we are even able to adopt a cat. Okay, fine, no problem. We filled out the application. Then, we were interrogated about what pet food we would use, if we had owned a cat before, do we have other pets, what kind of environment we would have for the cats. When asked about what food was recommended or if the staff had any advice about what the environment should be like, was rudely told that we should come back when we were better prepared to have a cat. We have owned pets (dogs and cats) for years, are always responsible, always take them to their check ups, vaccinate and love them dearly, so were shocked and taken off guard by the hostility shown to us. Meanwhile, my kids had fallen in love with 2 cats. Was told we had to wait until they reviewed our application and checked references. Asked about what references they would check and was told they would call our vet to see if we would be good pet owners. What if this was our first pet? Do they instantly deny people who have never owned a pet before? Surprised that it was this difficult to adopt, we went home.2 days later, got an email saying we were approved. Great. Went back and were again interrogated about what supplies we had, what food we were going to get, etc... I said we would get whatever supplies were needed that day and asked what food the cats had been given or what was recommended, and was never given a straight answer, just not Friskies and that they ordered their cat food and it couldnt be found in the store. Very judgmental and unhelpful. Then the manager said she would have to ask the foster mother of the cats if we were acceptable enough to adopt the cats and told us that we have to leave and come back. My kids were expecting to be able to adopt the cats and having the manager rudely interrogate and berate me in front of my children made them cry there and all the way home. It was awful. I will not be going back. I would recommend that the staff of this center (especially the manager) communicate better, be kinder, more helpful and less judgmental to people just trying to adopt a cat to love and take care of.

I recently adopted a sweet, happy and well socialized 6 month old kitten from Pets Alive WNY. The staff was friendly and compassionate. As soon as we got home, the kitty made himself right at home. He is very trusting and not at all shy which makes it clear that he was treated with love and attention while he was in their care. I definitely recommend adopting from here!

Friendly staff, adorable cats, and a quick and easy adoption process! Would recommend this rescue to anyone looking for a new cat! The staff there is also extremely knowledgeable about cats and how to raise them and keep them healthy! They showed us spreadsheets on different cat foods and the benefits and downsides to each, recommended vendors and products for wet food, dry food, and kitty litter, and gave us a wealth of information on the temperaments and likes and dislikes of each of the cats we were considering. They made us confident not only that we were adopting the right cat for us, but also that we could care for him adequately and keep him healthy. Beyond satisfied with Pets Alive!

I had occasion 2 days ago to visit this wonderful facility and adopt a beautiful domestic short hair kitten called Gretel (since renamed Becky). The facility is very well maintained and the staff is excellent and caring. Becky was in excellent condition and it was apparent she was loved and well cared for. You couldnt do better than this rescue shelter.

We went in looking to adopt a kitten and we ended up adopting an older cat. The staff was friendly and helped us make our decision but ultimately left it up to us. The process was simple and quick but they answered all of our questions and gave us all of her records for every shot shes ever received. Even though there was an adoption fee which we expected it was so worth it considering the cat came spayed and was up to date on everything and we knew exactly what we were getting in to. So happy we found our forever cat and I would recommend anyone who is looking to adopt a pet to consider at least coming to this place and looking.

I went there twice. The volunteer staff workers kick me out twice every time I went there. If I wont leave and they will call police on me. They were very discriminated against me because I have some disabilities. I am not allow to go there again and to adopt a kitty. They are very very rude, nasty and horrible to me. They are just terrible people. I wont not recommend to anyone to go there. I am very very very very ANGRY with them. Theres no excuse for this at all. First of all those staff workers are very very WEIRD and very very STRANGE. They are bunch of B***HES and bunch of NITWITS...

I came to petsalivewny to adopt a cat. I was invited to sit in the apartment, a large area where multiple cats of same age live. I sat down and a big cat, Carter, jumped on my lap and marked me and purred. I told staff Id take him. This apartment arrangement allowed me to see cats cohabiting, so I adopted a 2nd cat, whod been there a while, but at that moment wanted nothing to do with me. We are enjoying life and I cant thank this shelter enough for getting the cats socialized for adoption.😻

Very prejudice i went a hour away to get a kitty, they said i had to hold her until after she gets shots and is spayed & instead of paying the hold fee i pay for her all at once & a week later i get a rude email saying i can’t get her bc i won’t return her to get spayed first that’s not true and second i was patiently waiting until after all her shots and after she get spayed.. i personally will never come back here again. Very unprofessional.
