We rented equipment on two separate occasions with Hums. Over the phone, they told us a price that was very reasonable. However, once we received our bill, the amount was much higher than the original quote and the company refused to honor what was originally quoted as it was not in writing. Afterwards, we asked them multiple times to pick up their equipment. It took them almost 3 weeks to do so, and then they charged us an extra month as they said they were never told to pick it up. Horrible customer service and bad communication. I would go to any other company rather than deal with Hums again.

I live in an 18 year old mobile home with a sliding patio door. I went to a few places to find a replacement handle. I go to the big box stores and nothing. I went to Ace hardware and at least I had an employee try to help me. But no part. I thought I would try Hum’s. They didn’t have my part either but one of the employees asked me if i needed help. He said that he might have a guy back there to help. Sure enough the guy looks at it and fixes it. NO CHARGE. Great customer service. Will be going back.

Lots of equipment and good prices on rentals, if you rent on Friday afternoon and return by 8am on Monday and only use the machine for 8 hours you only get charged for one day rental.

Chains sharpened very sharp! Bought several handles for my axe pick and a broom! Good looking handles!

They have always been the go to place when I have needed that special, tool, fitting, etc. However, since they have been in their new facility, they have really stepped up their customer service! Not only are they friendly and helpful, they deserve a big applause for their high level of courtesy! I will give them ALL of my business whenever I possibly can.

Two different times Ive tried to rent a backhoe from Hums. The first time I was told, we dont just rent to anybody for fear the backhoe will be used to jump stomps. Ok, took my business to Hollis and got one with no problem. Today I went by Hums and tried to rent a backhoe again. Was told I had to get my own insurance provider before they would rent to me. Maybe a sign out front would help Commercial rentals only. Wish Hollis rental was still around. Oh well, I went to Home depot and rented a smaller tractor. Going to take a little longer to do the job, worth it not to hear a bunch of B.S.! Thanks Hums for taking care of my needs. Ill damn sure recommend you to my business associates.

I called 2 weeks ago to put a reservation in to rent a backhoe from Hums. I had one reserved for Monday morning and I had one reserved for Friday. I went to pick it up Moday morning they said it wasnt there yet and it would be there by noon... I got back at 12:30pm its still not there. So I tell them to call me when its there. They call at 3:30 sayimg backhoe is there and ready for pick up by that time it was to late and I would of wasted my money. So I decided I would just wait for my reservation for Friday.. Friday come I call they tell me somebody rented it out Tuesday and they got it until the 12th after I already resevered it 2 weeks ago.. by those 2 experience Im starting to think hums be racial profiling and dont want to rent to blacks. I will NEVER do business with them again

When you go into any store you want to be greeted with a smile the clerk that waited on me wasnt the friendliest

This place has you covered for whatever you need and a knowledgeable sales staff that has the know how to help you get what you need and get the job done. They have builders hardware, paint, lawn and garden chemicals and seeds, electrical, plumbing, you name it. Should you need something they dont normally stock, they can have it delivered to the store in three to four days. Their rental department has anything you need for any project big or small. They are also priced right.

I had a wonderful experience with HumsI rented a machine, half way through the job the machine broke down and when I returned the machine I showed them what was wrong and what broke, I asked for just some of my money back to compensate for what had happened, before I knew it they returned all my money back and was very nice and polite. I gave them one star because zero was not an option. The products are nice and selection is good. I have rented tools from them before as well.Unfortunately customer service is not part of the Hums experience. I purchased two wooden hammer handles from them. One was the wrong size, which was my mistake. The other had a factory defect, which is not the fault of the store, but still a serious defect. When I went back to exchange the first and hopefully get a replacement for the second, I honestly could not believe how I was treated. The older man at the front desk told me that my splitting maul was defective, not the handle. Sorry, I have used it for years, and it is not defective. The handle I purchased at Hums was made off-center and thus is unusable. The second employee started out decently, but when I told him I was not trying to be hard to deal with, he said yes, you are. I shrugged this off, went to the handle section with them, and as they were both still acting as if I was trying to rip them off over a freaking hammer handle, I once again explained that I was not trying to be hard to deal with. The blonde man told me, and I quote, youre loaded, youll get whatever you want. I told them both to have a nice day and walked out.So, lesson learned. Do not expect to be treated decently at Hums after the sale. I was honestly astounded by their behavior, especially the second mans. I did call the manager and was assured that they would get to the bottom of it but I have yet to hear a word from them. Its a shame such a nice store to shop in has such rude employees.
